If you are looking for a hotel close to Parliament Hill and other attractions such as Byward Market and Rideau Centre, the Econolodge Downtown is within a 5-10 minute bus ride on bus #’s 7, 12, 14, 18. It’s a two story walk up hotel with parking in the center court behind the front desk. The staff are nice and the standard continental breakfast is provided between 7:00 am and 10:00 am. daily. The negative aspect is although we received a discounted rate through booking.com it still cost $139.00/night. Our room was clean however, in dire need of upgrading and renos giving it a dingy appearance. Our room faced the front street so the windows were dirty. No bottled water was provided for the coffee machine. We did have a fridge and microwave in our room and wifi is provided. Not sure that I would stay here again unless they upgraded.

I would have given 4 star but as for the worst check out and unexpected disturbance.

When we checked in we meet Mr Rakesh and his wife, wonderful people and very professional. we were supposed to stay for a night but as we experienced there welcome, clean rooms and great location we decided to add one more night.

Upon check out we found a lady there and strangely she started to deny that they have my deposit of of 100usd and 100 Canadian dollars as a deposit. Secondly she started your room has not been paid. As per their policy you pay in advance. She was not even ready call Rakesh to confirm the he received the payment when he had signed for it.

After a lot of time waste and argument she admitted that the money has been banked by someone in the office.

After waiting another half hour she hands me 200 Canadian dollar saying that’s the best she can do again we had to discuss the rate difference etc. Then finally she paid me my full.

I really couldn’t understand why all this commotion when it was clear signed records.

stayed here a few nights room wasn’t too bad except there was dog hair from previous people who had stayed and the lounges were a bit worn/tatty and scratched up, aircon didn’t really work. made booking by phone and told them it was for 2 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs was told it would be a $200 security deposit which was fair enough once we got there they said because we had 2 kids and dogs it was an extra $200 deposit $100 per child and dog was not happy but paid it just to have a place to stay with dogs as it was the only one left on short notice and was told it would be refunded immediately on checkout. upon checking out we asked how long till the deposit would be refunded and was told to come back in an hour did so and was told they hadn’t had time to inspect the room so we started to head home being reassured that it would be returned within 24hrs which it wasn’t, almost 4 weeks later and after a few calls to them and being abused by the manager it still wasn’t returned told them if it wasn’t in the next day I would contact fair trading which it surprisingly was returned that afternoon. I will never stay here again even if I was desperate

Top little motel

Louise J (7 reviews)

Whether you’re travelling with a pet or not the Koala Tree is a very nicely updated and well maintained motel. Bright paint, clean modern bedding and towels, and polished wooden floors make it a big step up from how we remember dog-friendly accommodation when we last travelled with the terrier twins. Thanks for providing such a top spot to stop.

DON T GO THERE

Sue W (10 reviews)

The room was tiny supposed to have a kitchenette didn’t have it. It was booked for three people and only supplied with 2 towels no bath mat no hand towel. The room was freezing the air con didn’t even make the room warm. The beds kept sliding every time you moved. The shower was like a very fine mist disgusting. We had a microwave with no dishes I would not recommend this motel to my worst enemy. Had to go to office for more towels etc We went to supermarket to buy cups to drink out of will never go there ever again and to top it off they charge like a wounded bull

Right in the middle of Santa Monica but:

– No air conditioning (the description says it does have it. lie)
– The cleaning lady only remade the bed and put fresh towels on the bed (but only body, no new towel for face) no new cups, no new ice bucket plastic bag, no tidy up (and there were a lot of cleaning ladies around so they could have spent the extra five minutes to put clean plastic cups and a clean plastic bag)

– Very small parking lot.

CaitlynsMom (78 reviews)

I booked the hotel 2 weeks prior to the stay. A couple of days prior to the stay the room was more than 50% cheaper. Naturally we cancelled the first reservation and re-booked at the lower rate. The front office smelled of curry which is fine I suppose if you are in a restaurant but not a hotel office/lobby. We went our room only to smell mold in the bathroom. We tried to call the front desk but the phone had no cords attached – this was a not meant to be a wireless phone (the phone looked like it came from he early 90s possibly late 80s). I might ad. I found the cords behind the furniture but it did not help as the phone did not work. We walked back to the office and the manager/owner came back and said she could not smell anything. She was politely arguing with my friend who was telling her that she was allergic to mold and would not be able to sleep. Finally she showed us the room next door only for it to smell of smoke (this was a non smoking room) in the bedroom. The bathroom had a strong smell – like a bad cleaning product. We asked for another room but were told we had to pay more. Or we could go back to our original room and she would spray it. We walked away back to the original room where our belongings were talking about how we would rate on social media when we the manager/owner came back to us and tell us she could give us the larger room at no additional cost – that room had no smell. However the tv did not work and the phone barely had any buttons on it. at first the manager/owner said she could not do anything about the tv. Then she told me to unplug the tv blah blah blah and see if that would work. I followed the instructions 3xs with still no tv. Finally the manager/owner came and after 15-20 min got the to to work (I think on accident) because she seemed surprised when it worked. She tried to blame it on the the oat guests. Whatever.

I would like to add that the parking lot does NOT have enough spaces per room.

If I could give zero stars I would. The customer should come first especially if it comes to health. A room should not smell. Nor should an office/lobby smell.

Too many choices in Santa Barbara so this should not be considered.

Great Wakering, England

Travelling with wife and a 10 and 7 year old. Booked this motel due to its proximity to Coolangatta airport as we had an early flight. We arrived early and were pleased to find that our room was already available and that we could use it to freshen up after a long drive (parking space available too)
Spacious family room, clean, tidy and well appointed.
Only a short walk to a beautiful beach and not far from several eateries.
Perfect location and room for our needs – definitely recommend it

Not the best place, but considering location I would definitely stay there again. Parking is not so easy as many others have observed, but doable. Make a reservation. Rooms were absolutely okay, but don’t count on a view. Area was also okay. Sure you will see homeless, but you’ll see that nearly anywhere. Location was within easy walking distance to Hollywood attractions and an easy walk to the Metro to go to Universal Studios.

Cheap, noisy but right on Hollywood Blvd walk of fame

JubeSouthWales (18 reviews)

Ok place to stay but don’t expect much in terms of the hotel. Terrible old decor although you may like orange. The hotel is literally a minutes walk off Hollywood Blvd and about a 10 minute walk to the Chinese theatre. Rooms are noisy thin walls and squeaky floors. Music from clubs and street noise can be heard through the night. Road it is on is a bit seedy with a super cheap hotel next door with some odd characters hanging around outside it.

Walk of fame is much more grubby than we had imagined with a good many homeless sleeping on the street from early evening onwards. If I ever went again I wouldn’t chose to stay in Hollywood itself.

Parking at hotel was $12 but it was full when we arrived but an open parking lot next door was available at $25 for the night.

The very recently renovated rooms are very well done, quiet and with very nice bathrooms and closets. The bed is a gorgeous design and very comfortable! Do know that the lobby has yet to be renovated but the rooms are. More

Hotel staff were lovely from the moment we arrived. Double room was slightly dated but immaculately clean. The staff in the leisure centre and spa were so accommodating and my treatments were top quality. Only criticism was my first treatment was close to spa reception so could hear phones ringing and staff chatting. Was there on a groupon deal so for what I paid for I couldn’t fault. Again bar staff were lovely and chatty and make good recommendations for places to go and we ended up seeing some of the staff after their shift in one of the pubs they recommended! Food was good pub grub and good selection at breakfast. Didn’t get a chance to eat in the other restaurant. Really positive experience and I would definitely go back,

Very nice hotel in a superb location. From the time we walked in we were greeted with very polite staff who couldn’t do do enough for us. We took two teenage boys and the rooms were more than spacious for us. They offered free WIFI and when there was a problem with my son not being able to connect there was a helpline that helped him resolve the problem. There were a few of downsides. TVs in the rooms could do with being a bit bigger and in the family room there wasn’t enough plug sockets to accommodate phone charging needs. A touch of paint here and there would be good. These are very small downsides. Would I stop again? Definitely and also recommend it to anyone.

My third visit in this hotel. When you book make it directly through their web-page so you can get the English breakfast included and if you stay more than one night you can get free three course meal. The price is a bit high compared to the value, but that is normal in London. Rooms are tidy but worn. The double bed we has was really small for two normal sized, so it is better to have twin room. Since my last visit they have wifi-covereage in the rooms and that is good.

So all went well. Checked into this place on a last minute booking and paid my £119 (approx €144). The machine went a bit crazy and appeared to reset itself but the transaction was completed by the banks so no problem.
Next morning there became a problem in the photo attached. I was asked for my card and despite being reassured I would not be charged again I was. Explained this to the lady (am unable to use the true descriptive on here) who promptly told me I was not charged at check in although my statement says I was, would not pass me to a manager despite my request and used the exact words this is the last Tavistock hotel you will ever stop in whilst grudgingly voiding the wrongly charged transaction. Attached you will see the girl who wiped a couple of stars from my opinion of the place. If you stay there pay cash, get the receipt on check in and avoid the attached at all costs. Official complaint will be prepared against the hotel with her cited as the primary cause.

    ast1963 (131 reviews)

Having seen the hotel on The Tourist – we decided we must stay here – though actually just the main lobby and reception actually featured in the film! Regardless of this it is a beautiful hotel – we had booked a deluxe room with breakfast for 3 nights – and was upgraded to a lagoon view in the main original building above the Tourist suite – which was a nice surprise. They had booked a few restaurants for me that we had read about on trip advisor- though in the end we cancelled 2 of them having had a look whilst in the areas. Just Tratatoria Johnny (reviewed) we ate at of which we were so glad we did.
From the moment you enter the hotel you know you are going to have a wonderful stay. Breakfast on the terrace on the 4th floor has the most spectacular views of Venice and the grand canal. We ate under the huge canopy – that runs the length of the terrace and protects you from the strong sun and heat. Everything was delicious and breakfast was a wonderful start to the day.
The hotel is located a few minutes walk from St Marks Square and the river bus stops right outside.
We opted for the river bus from the airport – which in retrospect I wish we had taken a taxi. The river bus is 15 euros pp and can take about 90 mins with a number of stops before arriving outside the hotel. It is quite a slow ride.
The river taxis speed past and are about 100euros for a 40 min ride. The walk from the terminal to both the river taxis and river bus can take about 10 mins zig zagging to the lagoon from the terminal.
The hotel offers a free taxi to a Murano glass factory which is well worth it. We had a walk around the island after the glass blowing show and inevitable hard sell of the most amazing glass chandeliers, objects and glass. then walked back to the factory who then arranged for a free taxi back to the old Jewish ghetto rather than the hotel.
I found our room felt a bit on the small side due to the porthole style windows behind a stone balustrade. The bathroom is quite compact with rainfall shower in the bath, bidet, all in beautiful marble. The room is richly appointed with period furniture, drapes and lights with a large standing wardrobe, dresser and super comfortable huge bed with delightful pillows as one comes to expect from Starwood premium hotels.
One criticism was that our room was not serviced on the Sunday of our stay between leaving at 9.30am and returning at 4.30pm. They sorted it out immediately after I pointed it out.
Despite the hotel being very busy as it was the middle of the film festival – we never felt standards had been sacrificed on the other guests.
Apart from the cleaning oversight – if you can push the boat out and stay here – you should. A wonderful experience.

We had booked this hotel to stay in the same hotel as our children/grandchildren. But our children had booked and put there credit card to hold the room and told the hotel they where coming in very very late. When they got there the hotel had given there room away. Just what you want at 4:00am. They did upgrade them to there sister hotel the Fantasyland. But not before sending them to check into a room in the West Edmonton Mall Inn that was occupied by another guest. Just what you want the front desk to do but to give a key out to an occupied room in the middle of the night.
We had wanted to stay near the grandchildren. But was not to be because they best they could do for us was offer us a $250 a night room at the Fantasyland but to also tell us you needed 24 hrs to cancel our room at the West Edmonton Mall Inn. We were stuck then with the West Edmonton Mall Inn.
This hotel had dirty common areas and elevators. The check in time is 4:00 PM. and they were not happy to check us in at 3:30PM. Breakfast is very basic. The only thing going for this hotel is that it is right across from the mall. I would recommend people stay elsewhere.

I stayed just 1 night due to my broken air conditioner at home during a heat wave. I like the Kimpton brand have always wanted to see inside this hotel. As usual the decor was chic, rooms clean comfortable and the location is outstanding; if you are a Karma member the wifi $10 bar credit are included (free!). If I was from out of town I would love this area. What makes this place outstanding however is the friendly, dog loving professional staff. I ate breakfast Sun morning the team was very friendly food was tasty. The front desk housekeepers all greeted me warmly with smiles. But the standouts for me were the valet team hands down. At first I was annoyed at the price to valet however when I couldn’t find on street parking I just did it thank goodness I did! The next day I had a flat tire-apparently I drove over a nail it didn’t deflate until the morning. Those valet men acted as if this was very personal to them I was a member of their family. They jumped to change my flat-in 100 degree heat!-all to find out my spare was flat too; ugh. I told them I had AAA but they stayed with me even offered to run to get an air pump when AAA was taking a long time. It was so hot humid but they were really concerned about me until I got going again I am so very grateful. Everyone especially Male(sp) his supervisor are golden in my book. Stay here.

    Customer Service is Excellent

I came into the hotel exhausted after helping to move my daughter into her apartment on a very warm day. I made a comment that I could not wait to rest with a glass of wine and the gentlemen behind the desk started to leave towards the bar to get me that glass of Presecco. I told him I would get it later myself but that is how lovely the customer service is at this hotel. There was a minor problem in the room and once they learned about it they thanked my husband for letting them know and proceeded to give us a credit which we did not ask for or expect (but appreciated).
I stayed in this hotel twice and will do so often in the future. The rooms are very comfortable- the decor lovely but playful- Love the elevators- I have enjoyed the stays particularly the welcoming, efficient customer service.

Mark_HayesPHL, General Manager at Kimpton Hotel Palomar Philadelphia, responded to this review

I’m exhausted just thinking about having to move into another apartment. You definitely deserved a glass of prosecco, not to mention a couple more days of rest and relaxation. Hopefully you booked one of our spas or suites because they have an enormous spa tub. nothing like quality hydration therapy! Sorry to hear about the hiccup, but glad that we were able to rectify it in short order. Can’t wait to welcome you back soon!

    Malta

    Malta’s highlights

Malta is one of the smallest countries in the world, but it punches well above its weight when it comes to tourism. There aren’t a lot of sandy beaches on the island, but what it lacks in sand, it makes up for in lidos and bathing areas. In places like Mellieha Bay and Qawra, the sunbathing space is complemented by waterside promenades, beach bars and restaurants.

    Centuries of history

History is Malta’s forté. The island is bursting at the seams with historical sites. The temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra on the south coast are cast-offs from prehistoric times. And the ancient city of Mdina was once a city of knights.

    The good-time island

Of course, there’s more to Malta than its timeline. The island is quickly making its name as one of Europe’s most exciting destinations for music fans. Throughout the summer, festivals take place at a different village each weekend. The season of celebration kicks off in style with the International Fireworks Festival at the start of May. Then there’s the annual Isle of MTV event, the Lost and Found Festival, and the International Jazz Festival, to name a few.

Places To Stay In Malta View all places to stay

    Qawra

Qawra – pronounced awra – is a charming, purpose-built resort in north-east Malta. The town is set around scenic St Paul’s Bay, with luxury, high-rise hotels hugging the seafront. It works on 2 levels – as a vibrant summer destination, but also as a stress-free place to enjoy a winter break. And it blends seamlessly into Buggiba, its bolder, brasher, bayside neighbour, which boasts a pretty harbour and a waterpark along its brand-new promenade.

    Bugibba

On the northern tip of Malta, bubbly Bugibba is one of the island’s most in-demand holiday playgrounds. Commanding centre-stage on St Paul’s Bay’s rugged 5-kilometre coastline, this small town is crammed with modern hotels and apartment blocks, and has recently had an expensive makeover. Judging by the attractive main square and the promenade, where the brand-new Bugibba Waterpark now resides, it’s been money well spent.

    Mellieha Bay

Mellieha Bay is a low-key place perched on the north coast of Malta. The sleepy old town sits up on the hill and comes with a smattering of churches, restaurants and shops – not to mention a great coastal view. And at the bottom of the road is the piece de resistance – a lovely sandy beach, one of just a few on the island.

    Holidays in Malta

With its scenic bays, hot climate and buzzing local nightlife, the island of Malta is a hidden gem in the heart of the Mediterranean. Relax on one of the picture-perfect beaches, or take a boat ride to nearby Comino to enjoy a dip in the Blue Lagoon. Plus, the island comes to life in the summertime, playing host to some major festivals and exciting nightlife all around the coastline.

Expect glorious sunshine in the summer, and comfortable temperatures during the winter season.

The northern coast of Malta has the island’s longest beach at Mellieha Bay. Just a bit further to the south-east, the large buzzing resorts of Qawra and Bugibba are tucked side by side into St Paul’s Bay. You’ll find some of Malta’s best sandy beaches hugging the north-western coast at Golden Bay. Malta’s small but elegant capital, Valletta, is filled with narrow historic streets and surrounded by dramatic fortifications. The rocky shores north of the capital are home to the classy resorts of Sliema and St Julian’s. Head to Malta’s little sister island Gozo for a taste of rural peace.

    Bugibba

    478 pp

The sheltered waters off Bugibba’s rocky beach are ideal for bathing and watersports, and lidos provide an excellent alternative. From the promenade, lined with restaurants and cafés, walk into the centre to do some shopping. Nightlife is varied with bars, discos and casinos.

    Qawra

    566 pp

This lively resort sits on St Paul’s Bay next to its popular neighbour Bugibba. Stay in a Qawra hotel and take a stroll along the bustling promenade lined with bars, cafés and restaurants. Soak up Malta’s rich history as you wander past imposing 17th-century watchtowers towards Qawra Point.

    St Julians & Sliema

    142 pp

Built around the beautiful Spinola Bay, St Julian’s is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to the action. Relax on the popular sandy beach, go shopping for the day in Sliema, and then in the evening, head to Paceville for a great choice of bars and nightlife.

    Mellieha Bay

    285 pp

Slow down the pace at Mellieha Bay. This quiet area is ideal if you’re looking for some relaxing hotels outside of the busy centre. With great views over the bays and beaches, this is one of the most peaceful spots on the island.

    Valletta

    999 pp

With its classic architecture and bustling centre, Valletta is an ideal spot for those who like some history with their holiday. Discover the island’s culture across its capital city, from attractions like St. John’s Co-Cathedral, to the quaint cafes that line the streets.

Small but perfectly formed, Malta packs a lot into its tiny islands. Beautiful beaches line the coast at Golden Bay, the perfect spot for a boat ride past the grottoes and cliffs that mark this north-western coast. Explore the atmospheric alleys of the capital Valletta and the winding medieval lanes of the former capital, Mdina. Take the ferry – or even a seaplane – to tranquil Gozo and go diving underneath the giant stone coastal arch known as the Azure Window. Spend a day on the miniature island of Comino, where the white sands of the Blue Lagoon lead to shimmering waters.

More peaceful and rural than its sister island, Gozo is home to unspoilt villages with ornate features. Victoria, the lively capital, has a striking citadel and the central square – It-Tokk or ‘the meeting place’ – is lined with pavement cafés. Explore its medieval alleyways with interesting architecture and tiny shops. Marsalforn’s waterfront bars are ideal for a relaxing drink. Dwejra’s coastline is a spectacular sight and here you can see the oldest salt pans on Gozo. Relax on the deep red sands of Ramla Bay, one of the island’s most striking beaches. Marvel at the mysterious Ggantija Temples that are even older than Egypt’s pyramids.

    Beaches & Bays

With warm, crystal-clear waters, the Maltese islands provide fantastic opportunities for diving. Discover exciting underwater scenery at a number of sites including the wreck of the HMS Maori in Valletta. Gozo and Comino have some of the best dive sites such as the famous Azure Window or the Santa Maria Caves which teem with marine life. Take a boat through the cave tunnel at the Azure Window’s Inland Sea, where the turquoise waters and vivid orange coral entice divers and snorkelers. Plunge 16m through the Blue Hole just in front of the Azure Window to the cave lurking by the seabed.

    MALTA IS BEST FOR.

Wonderful hotel! The location is the simply the best. Staff was very warm and welcoming. We did have a few small issues with our room: the safe was not working, the television was experiencing technical problems. We reported the issues to the management at the front desk. They did bring us another safe. Television was looked by the maintenance staff. More

Ideal location for walking to many major attractions. We were there for college tours and we were able to walk to the campus of Northeastern and Boston University in approx 20 mins. My husband and son walked to and from Fenway for the evening game in about the same time. We were a block away from the Prudential center and 2 blocks from the charming shops and eateries on Newbury Street. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one. Everyone was friendly and courteous and even though we arrived at 1 in the morning, Michael greeted us as though it was not a strange hour to be checking in. The rooms were spotless and tastefullly decorated. Coffee and tea were served in the lobby every morning and bottled water was offered for morning runners or thirsty kids. We had requested extra towels and a fridge in the room during our online check in and both were made available to us for the duration of our stay. Highly recommend Copley Square as a base for anyone staying in Boston.

Management_Team_365, General Manager at Copley Square Hotel, responded to this review

What a wonderful story. It was a pleasure to welcome you and your family and we thank you for sharing your review. With many colleges and universities nearby, we often have the treat in welcoming parents visiting their students or families like yours who are taking tours of the area campuses. As you’ve highlighted, our location is ideal for everything from exploring campuses to taking in a game at Fenway or shopping in the boutiques on Newbury Street and we’re thrilled our address served you well. We appreciate your kind comments regarding the hospitality of our colleagues and the attention to detail of our Housekeeping team, all of which have been shared with the staff. Once more, it was a joy to welcome you and we hope we might see you back again this time next year, perhaps to host you on a university “move-in” weekend.

First time at the Vdara chosen because non smoking, easy pleasant check in booked the basic room which had a view over the Bellagio fountains on the 27th floor. The room very well laid out small kitchen however no crockery cutlery kettle etc but I believe if you called housekeeping they would supply them. A fridge for your own use but they search your bags when you go to the pool food and drink not allowed, never in Vegas have I had a bag searched going to the pool before.Easy access to the Bellagio,Aria,Cosmopolitan and Crystals. If it’s your first time to LV then a bit of the LV experience is missing but good value and great room.

Second time visit – still wonderful

After a long flight and transfer the Vdara is a great place to stay. A non- Casino hotel in Las Vagas is not the norm, but if you want elegance with easy reach of all that Las Vagas has to offer, stay at the Vdara. Our suite on the 50th floor afforded amazing views across the city at night and just as good during the day. The suite was well appointed, large bathroom, bath, shower, two washbasins as well as a kitchenette with dining table plus a lounge with TV. Unfortunately we hadn’t time to take advantage of all this hotel has to offer. As this was our second stay it was good to find that standards were just as high. Would highly recommend.

However there was one bright light and that being the waiter Aaron. A real shinning light. this young man was very attentive and professional and would resolve other staffs mistakes without a bat of an eye lid. He also had a great personality and good sense of humour, something that can be lost with new inexperienced staff in our industry by trying to be too professional. Had it not been for Aaron our night would have been extremely depressing. He is what was the type of great character our fine hospitality industry was built on and is famous throughout the world for.
Look after this young man as he is an asset to the hotel

Great entrance close to Irish national stud and Japanese gardens. Nice foyer and rooms are comfortable. Bistro bar/restaurant is large and the weekend we were there, the service, while friendly was scant as there were not enough staff. We were in no hurry, so all was good, but we did comment on it.
Overall though, we had a nice stay and the kids enjoyed the pool too. Would we go back. Yeah, I think we would. We had a really enjoyable time 🙂

    Holidays in Benidorm

Benidorm is a buzzing beach resort with a big reputation. Situated in sunny Costa Blanca, the town is one of the original Spanish beach resorts. A top choice of beachfront hotels line the gorgeous golden sand, a stone’s throw from shops, restaurants and bars. Its lively nightlife makes it popular with groups of friends, while nearby water park Aqualandia means it’s a great holiday spot for families.

    12-25 C

Benidorm enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters.

Spend the day in the sunshine at Playa de Levante enjoying some water sports, lounging on a sun bed or wandering along the bustling promenade to find somewhere for lunch or drinks. Benidorm has superb attractions within easy reach, including its own water park, theme parks and interesting markets where you can indulge in some retail therapy. Make sure you save some energy, because the nights out in Benidorm are legendary. If you’re away with kids, take them to an exciting dinner show or disco, and if you’re here for the clubbing, hit the Square for the best choice of bars and clubs.

    Beaches

Benidorm’s beaches are twin arcs of golden sand, framed by rocky headlands and backed by a busy, colourful waterfront promenade. Both have Blue Flag status for their upkeep and water quality. The largest and liveliest beach is Playa de Levante, which has a central location right next to the promenade. Close to all the bars and cafes, Levante has loungers, showers and umbrellas and is well equipped for families. If you’re after somewhere a little quieter, the place to go in Benidorm is Playa Poniente, located a little further along the coast and loved for its easy-going atmosphere and beautiful sunsets.

Away from the beaches, Benidorm has a pretty old town that is a good place to eat and shop. The twice-weekly markets are the best place in Benidorm for picking up souvenirs and jewellery. When you fancy a break from the beach, Benidorm’s fantastic water park Aqualandia is a must-visit, with a top choice of water slides, swimming pools, and rapids. Families can hang out in Adventureland, with water playgrounds and smaller slides, or have a splash around in the wave pool. Not just for kids, Aqualandia has some seriously high-level water slides for the thrill seekers among you.

    Nightlife

Benidorm is the nightlife capital of Costa Blanca, with a vibrant array of clubs and venues coming alive after dark. The town has a thriving cabaret scene with plenty of shows suitable for families, plus a good variety of pubs and discos for a laid-back night. Join in with the hoedown at the country and western bars or watch a game at one of the Irish pubs. If clubbing is your thing, the best place in Benidorm is the Square, the hub of Benidorm’s party scene. For an extra-special night out, visit the glittering Benidorm Palace, a Las Vegas-style venue with glitzy dinner shows.

    BENIDORM IS BEST FOR.

Club-hoppers: Benidorm’s diverse, exciting nightlife scene has a little something for everyone, with big dance clubs, plus pubs, bars and shows.

Beach lovers: The two award-winning beaches on Benidorm’s coast feature spotless golden sand, bustling cafes and quieter spots for chilling out.

Families: By day, Benidorm is popular for its water park, aquarium and family-friendly beaches, and the nightlife caters to everyone.

    FAST FACTS

Language: The language spoken in Benidorm is Spanish

Visa & Health: Before you travel, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain for recommendations and advice on visas and health for your holiday to Benidorm.

    WEATHER AND CLIMATE

Make the most of Benidorm’s gorgeous sandy beaches in the summer, when you can enjoy highs of 30 (°C) and the sea temperatures are warm enough for a swim. Or if you’ve come to explore, book your holiday for the spring or autumn, when temperatures in the mid-teens provide the perfect conditions for exploring the old town. The winters are mild and relatively dry in Benidorm, so it’s a great time to come if you want to avoid the crowds.

    GETTING AROUND

By bus: Benidorm has an excellent bus service, with bus stops located throughout the resort. The buses are regular and cheap, with colour-coded routes for easy navigation.

By tram: The affordable tram service is handy for day trips, running to neighbouring Alicante, the airport and larger attractions like theme parks. The trams run approximately every 30 minutes.

By taxi: Taxis are plentiful in Benidorm, with a number of taxi ranks located throughout the resort and at the airport. Taxis can also be flagged down and are a good option for short journeys.

    EVENTS

Fiesta week: The beginning of November marks Benidorm’s fiesta week, in honour of the town’s patron saint, St James. The festivities span six days, and include traditional events and religious processions in addition to parties, competitions and a huge firework display on the beach at the end of the week.

Summer electro festival: In August, Benidorm hosts Electrobeach, a two day festival featuring big names from the world of electro. The concerts take place outdoors for the biggest crowds and room for dancing the hot nights away. Headliners have included Richie Hawtin and Carl Cox.

Set amidst tea plantations and rolling hills, this boutique hideaway promises all the splendour, romance and nostalgia of Cameron Highlands’ grand colonial heritage.Tall French doors, timber-beamed ceilings and plantation shutters add colonial charm and a touch of nostalgia to our rooms.Enjoy a refreshing round of golf, a pink-cheeked ramble along jungle trails, or a leisurely walk through tea plantations and strawberry farms. To recover, you can have a cup of tea in the drawing room, or a tea bath at the Spa Village, or you may simply choose to spend the day curled up with a good book by the fireplace.Cameron Highlands Resort is situated on the largest hill retreat in Malaysia, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, lush greenery, rolling hills and Tudor-styled cottages. The luxurious boutique Resort features 56 beautifully-appointed rooms and suites, and fronts Cameron Highlands’ 18-hole golf course. It also houses the third wellness centre of the award-winning Spa Village group, which offers exotic treatments focusing on the healing and restorative properties of tea. Located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands is a beautiful holiday destination and the only place where you can find tea plantations and strawberries in Malaysia. At about 1,500 metres above sea level, it is the highest area on the mainland and enjoys a cool climate and fresh air, with temperatures ranging between 15° and 25° Celsius. Much of the character of the highlands remains unchanged since colonial times. It is endearingly known to some as the ‘little corner of England in Asia’. The cool climate on the picturesque plateau and its surrounding hills and forest make this a popular retreat for golfing, jungle trekking and exploration of the many plantations and gardens. Cameron Highlands Resort is ideal all year round for families, honeymooners and holidaymakers out to satiate their appetites for trails, tales and tradition.

The hotel is located well outside the town of Tanah Rata. Both floors have balconies overlooking a golf course and quite a busy road. Quite handy then that the earplugs are provided by the hotel.

Bedrooms are spacious, beds very comfortable. In keeping with colonial style of the building there is no air conditioning but ceiling fans.

Good WiFi signal and selection of TV channels. Excellent response from the maintenance team who repaired the bathroom shaving socket within minutes of calling the Reception.

Dinners are offered in the main dining room where we tried an excellent beef rendang or in Gonbei, a semi el fresco restaurant serving the steamboat that is a variation on a fondue and a bit of a gimmick.

Breakfast was fairly standard, no pleasant surprises there.

People come here to explore the tea plantations and the mountains. The spa is unnecessarily expensive but there is not much else to do so bring a good book in case of inclement weather.

    Fragrance Hotel – Bugis (Singapore) – 2016 Hotel Reviews #hospice #cancer

    #fragrance hotel

    #

The Fragrance Hotel – Bugis is in a very convenient location as it’s near the MRT, a 7/11, shopping (Bugis Junction, Bugis +, Suntec City) and walking distance to the river.

I paid a little bit more to have a Deluxe Room with a window and slightly larger. The view from the 4th floor was OK – nothing special, mainly a tree. It may have been larger than the Superior Room, but it was still very small. OK for a single traveler, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a couple.

Staff were friendly, but as I didn’t require any help, interactions were brief and only at check in and check out. My room was kept clean and bed made daily by housekeeping staff.

A few cons about Fragrance Hotel – Bugis:

The bed: a Queen-sized bed, but it seemed short (even for me at 173 cm) – again not recommended for a couple. The mattress was quite hard. I realized on my 3rd night only that the mattress is covered in leather /vinyl with a thin overlay and then a sheet. Has anyone else come across a mattress like this before? Not I.

The air-conditioning: even setting the air-con at the hotel-recommended 23-24 degrees I felt really cold. Plus it blows onto the bed. I found that having it at 27 was the most comfortable setting. Or on cold for an hour before bed and then switched off for sleep.

The bathroom: while the shower was hot (after you switched on the hot water button inside the hotel room door with the light switches) and had good water pressure, there is no shower cubicle or recess – basically the whole bathroom / toilet is the shower. This meant that the whole floor and toilet seat got soaked with every shower. I used the tiny bathmat and my used towel to dry the floor after my evening shower so that I wouldn’t have a wet floor to tread through to use the toilet in the morning.

Wi-fi: in room 403 the wi-fi was very weak and I often had problems connecting or with it dropping out mid-use. I was also a little bit confused about whether or not the wi-fi was free as when I connected, I had to chose an option: either S$5 for 2 hours or S$10 for 24 hours. I was expecting to have to pay about S$50 at check out but wasn’t asked to.

Accommodation in Singapore isn’t the best value for money – you can’t compare it with other Asian countries like Bali, Thailand, Vietnam or even Malaysia which can be much cheaper.

All-in-all, the Fragrance Hotel – Bugis offers you small, clean rooms in a convenient location at a reasonable price.

Hotel Tybee (Tybee Island, GA) – 2016 Resort Reviews #cancer #hospice

    #tybee island hotels

    #

    Pinehurst, North Carolina

We had friends staying in a beach house (12 people) down on Tybee Island so we decided to drive down for a couple of days. We booked this hotel for one night as the beach house was quite full and we prefer our own space and bathroom etc.

Truthfully we are loyal Marriott brand people and looked for that hotel chain as well as a couple of other well known brands. We ended up with this hotel as there are no hotel chains on the island and we were very limited to stay below $200 for the night. Honestly the hotels on this island were not exactly what we would expect for $200 but we understand it was a weekend and close to the ocean.

Very strange setup as check-in is in the middle of the front parking lot in a small building that also holds a very small hotel store of sorts. The line to check in was out the door into the car drop off area so very congested etc. Our room was on the first floor (horrible location as it faced the parking lot so never opened the curtains to the sliders).

There is a public parking lot back on back side of the hotel that you must walk through to get to the ocean/beach access walkway. Again, very strange setup and as alot of the staff and many guests were smoking out front (in the front parking lot area) the smell was very dense anytime you left or entered the hotel. The hallways were dirty and carpets felt moist (yes, we know this is near the ocean) everywhere.

The room was worn, smelled a little musty (but not unlike many on the ocean), some mold in bathroom around tub, lets just say this room was no where near a $200 room, no way! The area this hotel is located in is not family friendly if you have small children with a parking lot in the front and one in the back as well (especially since the back lot is a public lot and many people going in and out constantly).

Thank goodness we only slept there one night and we were out very early next morning, totally not worth it. Next time we will stay in Savannah where at least you can book a decent brand name hotel with standards. Not a good experience!

We stayed here to avoid so much pay to park fees. Hotel is beach front. It’s expensive though and food is not part of the bill. You have to buy your breakfast and other meals elsewhere. The rooms are a good size and the bed linens are white. We had a ground floor room facing the pool/parking lot. There’s so much moisture in the room that the paint is bubbling up on the ceiling. The room feels damp. There’s not much ventilation in the bathroom to draw moisture away either. The vanity is too low for the average person. It strains your back washing your hands, etc. The dimmer switches on the lamp tables were of reach and was better than trying to reach up to cut the lamps off. There was a bad smell in our room by early morning. ( I only remember smelling that scent when we had to camp out in an Augusta hospital years ago. I never forgot the scent.) We sprayed air sanitizer under the air condition vent and that helped from that night on.
For some reason the exit door was blocked on the side entrance. Not good for any emergency exit. The main entrance has some kind of air conditioner or something. It must stay stopped up because the drain water kept flowing over the area where you have to scan your room key to get back in. They only had it corrected for a few minutes one day and then it kept the sidewalk messy again.
There’s a restaurant on the premises. It has changed names since we were in the area before. I’ll give a separate report on it later. Just note the last day we went to eat there, there was an advertisement, on the elevator, that there would be a cross dresser/drag queen show or something on the restaurant premises. I didn’t appreciate knowing that was going on there.– Back to the hotel, the maid service lady that was on duty while we were there was nice to us.

BrettLoehr, General Manager at Hotel Tybee, responded to this review

Thank you for your repeated patronage, staying with us and sharing your experience on TripAdvisor. We’ve owned the hotel for just over two years and have taken major steps to reduce the impact of humidity in our guestrooms. Rest assured, that we will be addressing it again this coming off-season. The emergency exit panic bar and the drain system for our lobby A/C were replaced in August. Both needed to be reordered and were immediately replaced. I’m glad you were impressed with our housekeeping staff member. We are looking forward to seeing you in 2017 and sharing all our progress with you.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. Until next time. safe travels.

We arrived extremely late to KBH after a terrible travel day of delays causing us to be over 7 hours late. We pulled up to the hotel and we were greeted by a valet and headed in to check in. It was just a few minutes before midnight. It felt so good to walk into that lobby again. Just like we remembered it 10 years before. We rang the bell and the gentleman came out and checked us in and within a few minutes we were heading up to our room. We opened the door and felt like we were home. We love this hotel. We went to bed immediately and woke up the next morning to a rainbow above the palm trees blowing in the breeze. We ate every morning at the buffet breakfast that was included in our room package. We loved it, fresh fruit, hot bread pudding, pastries, eggs, potatoes, rice, meat, bacon, sausage etc. Also cereal and fruit juice. We stayed for 12 days and everyday was amazing. The staff is wonderful, the hotel is clean and the beach is gorgeous. Make sure you attend the welcome breakfast when you get there. You will learn a lot. We missed the goodbye lei ceremony because of our flight time but we did get our white bead on our leis. We will go back to the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, I know there are people who think it is old and outdated but they just don’t get it. KBH is not a resort, it is Ohana, and that is why we keep going back to visit our family. We love KBH.

KBH M, Manager at Kaanapali Beach Hotel, responded to this review

Mahalo for staying with us, we are delighted that you enjoyed your time here. We always enjoy hearing from our loyal guests and appreciate you taking the time to write your review. We look forward to adding another kukui nut to your lei when we meet again! Aloha.

The Welsh capital may have begun its life as a Roman fort, but it s since become a bustling city. Where the fort once stood, Cardiff Castle has held court since the 11th century. It remains a central presence in the city, now full of lively art and music venues, hip boutiques, fun bars and modern hotels. Even with so many new and exciting things to see, the National History Museum is still the most visited attraction in Wales. Don t be the only visitor who plays hooky!

This hotel was very dark and although the previous reviews said the rooms were small I hadn’t realised how small. The room we were given was so small we couldn’t lay our suitcases on the floor to open. This is ok with just carry on luggage for two or three days but not for 6. We were able to upgrade but at a cost to us over and above what we paid to our tour operator. It took the edge off it a bit, although the bed was comfortable and the room good once we moved. Beware excessively loud air con. My star rating was based on the room size.

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

    Miami Tourism: Best of Miami

    Miami, Florida

Miami is hot hot hot! And it’s not just the sultry weather. Here, the nightlife is scorching, thanks to a strong Latin influence and spicy salsa culture. Dance the noche away in a nightclub, or indulge in a fancy meal at one of the city’s celebrity-owned restaurants. By day, hit the beach of course, or have yourself a walkabout, taking in Miami’s colorful art deco architecture. Grab a Cuban sandwich in Little Havana, then ride the vintage carousel at Virginia Key Beach Park.

    Edinburgh Tourism: Best of Edinburgh

    Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Steeped in Celtic and medieval history, Edinburgh is a cultural tapestry that’s largely visually defined by hills, cathedrals, and the bold stone turrets of Edinburgh Castle. The city is also festival-happy – it s the site of several annual celebrations of art, music, theater, and comedy. Cheer on your favorite team at a football or rugby match, then relax over a pint in a local pub. A Scotch Whisky tour is a must, as is pinching your nose and digging bravely into a steaming plate of haggis.
