Where Can I Find Free Online Christian Counseling Courses?

Free online Christian counseling courses can be found at the Master’s International School of Divinity. Students will be able to access course materials at their own convenience. Schools offering Christian Counseling degrees can also be found in these popular choices.

What You Need to Know

Free online Christian counseling courses teach you counseling techniques, using the Bible’s teachings as a guide to the human mind and mental health. You’ll learn how to provide counseling for common issues, such as marriage, money and anger issues. You may be presented with test questions after reading each chapter to help you assess your understanding of the content.

Master’s International School of Divinity

With these three courses, the Master’s International School of Divinity presents the Bible as a basis for providing psychological counseling. The first course is a 5-step, scripture-based counseling course where methodology is covered. In the Bible as the inerrant guide for mankind course, you’ll delve into this topic during this class, which also attempts to answer the question of the Bible’s authenticity. A third course, on the Biblical foundation for mental health, is a 6-part course (including an introduction), where students will explore the concept of sanctification as a foundation for Christian counseling. This course doesn’t address the treatment of serious mental disorders – and it is no substitute for the professional training needed to become a licensed healthcare provider – but it may help you give better advice to a fellow churchgoer.

Biblical Directionism Counseling

What Will I Learn?

You’ll compare Christian counseling and Biblical counseling methods, and you’ll learn how various counseling models are developed. You’ll also learn how to gather data from a counselee and apply the five-step counseling model.

What Materials Are Included?

You need to have a Bible on hand during the course. Otherwise, study materials are easily accessed on the Master’s International School of Divinity website. Materials consist of audio highlights – which can be downloaded and played via Windows Media Player – and seven chapters of online instruction in the Biblical Directionism counseling model.

What Assignments Will I Complete?

This course features self-correcting exams at the end of each chapter. You should take these multi-question tests if you are taking this class to earn the Certificate of Completion.

The Bible As The Inerrant Guide for Mankind

What Will I Learn?

This course discusses the validity of the Bible, the reality of God and the scholarly and scientific debate surrounding these subjects. Opinions of theologians, professors and other preeminent thinkers are presented.

What Materials Are Provided?

The course is presented in the form of a downloadable textbook in Microsoft Word format. The only other required text is a copy of the Bible. Written exercises based on the course chapters allow you to further explore and understand key messages.

The Biblical Foundation for Mental Health

What Will I Learn?

You’ll cover topics like sin, grace and sanctification. You’ll learn how a cooperative effort between God and an individual can facilitate the counseling process. Scriptural examples are used throughout to reinforce Christian concepts. End of chapter questions help you assess your understanding of the material.

Online PhD & Doctorate Degrees

A Higher Level of Learning.

What is a Doctorate?

It is a terminal degree the highest class of degree you can hold in a particular subject. Earning one can take several years sometimes as much as eight or ten but the payoff can be worth it.

What are the types of Doctorates?

There are two basic types including:

Research doctorates: Most commonly referred to as a PhD, or Doctor of Philosophy, and it s granted in recognition of academic research that is publishable in a peer-reviewed academic journal.

The criteria for earning a research doctorate usually involves conducting a large body of original research that contributes to the field. This often is submitted as a single thesis or dissertation, although it can also be a portfolio of shorter report.

They are usually required to teach at the collegiate level, and can be required for some non-academic research positions, particularly in the sciences. While they are not usually required, a they are helpful in securing some business, government and nonprofit leadership positions.

Professional doctorates: These are granted in fields where graduates aren t planning to conduct scholarly research, but to engage in a profession. The most commonly known professional with this degree include the MD (Medicinae Doctor) and JD (Juris Doctor) degrees earned by practicing doctors and lawyers.

Other professions that require this degree type include veterinarian, dentist, pharmacist, and psychologist.

How long does it take to earn a doctoral degree?

The length of the program varies tremendously depending on the school and area of study. Some programs take as few as three years, while others can take as much as ten. The median length for the programs in the United States is seven years.

What is required to get into a doctoral program?

Programs are extremely competitive. Good grades are more or less universally required no matter what program you re applying for, as well as high scores on postgraduate-level standardized tests such as the MCAT (for medical students), the LSAT (for law students), or the GRE s (for PhD candidates).

Some programs require a Master s degree, but many others accept students directly from undergraduate programs. Many students who don t earn admission to doctoral programs will earn a Master s degree to improve their chances of admission.

How much does a Doctorate program cost?

Some programs can be very expensive. It isn t unusual, for example, to find medical school tuitions at over $100,000 per year, and many students take out massive student loans to cover the costs.

For students in research PhD programs, it s more common to find tuition subsidies, in the form of research grants and work-study programs. Some graduate students can get their entire tuition load subsidized by the school in exchange for work as research and teaching assistants.

How much can you earn with a Doctorate degree?

The average research holder earns $1.3 million dollars more than a person with a Bachelor s and $900,000 more than a Masters holder.

Professional degree holders earn even more: Those with an MD or JD can earn as much as $2.3 million dollars more than those with a Bachelors degree, and $1.9 million dollars more than someone with a Masters.

However, these numbers don t tell the whole story. While some careers particularly those in medicine, law and the sciences can pay off well, others don t.

Law tends to be hit or miss. If you work in a corporate law firm, you ll earn a lot but if you choose to go into public service or open your own law practice, you may not earn much at all.

With a research doctorate, odds for high earnings are better with a degree in the sciences or business. In the humanities, lucrative tenure-track teaching positions at universities are few and far betwee low-paying adjunct teaching positions are more common and there s not as much demand in the private sector.

The amount you earn depends on the field and career you choose. However, PhD and professional degree holders earn significantly more on average than those with less prestigious degrees.

With a doctoral degree, you can become a doctor or lawyer, a leading researcher, or an instructor at a top university. PhD degree programs open up many different opportunities for traditional and online students alike.

RN Programs in California #accredited #nursing #programs #in #california

Choosing an RN Program in California

Considering a program in registered nursing? The most essential factor is that the program be license qualifying. Any program operating within California must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing. A list of approved schools is available on the Board site (http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/rnprograms.shtml ). The Board has also issued a warning about unapproved schools operating within the state.

There are approximately 150 registered nursing programs approved to recruit in California. What, besides location, should your decision be based on?

Degree Options

Students may opt for an associate or baccalaureate level nursing program. Those with prior degrees may opt for a direct entry master’s program. Candidates should be aware that, while all graduates are eligible for the RN license, those with degrees at the BSN level or higher are often at a hiring advantage.

Suppose you start at the associate’s level but plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree? You may want to consider articulation agreements between schools. California does not have a statewide articulation agreement, but many individual schools have agreements. You can expect a community college to have an agreement with some state university. Additionally, students should be aware that units taken at regionally accredited institutions often transfer more easily than those taken at nationally accredited institutions.

If you already have an LPN license, California has a 30 unit option. You do not necessarily have to earn a degree to move up to RN level licensure. However, you will not be eligible for licensure in all states. This may also make it more difficult to earn a BSN later.

Test Scores

Another consideration is test scores. Whatever your school, you will ultimately be taking the same exam: the NCLEX-RN. The Board of Registered Nursing lists NCLEX pass rates by program (http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/passrates.shtml ). You can view a full five years of scores.

Test scores can reflect two things: the quality of the nursing education and the stringency of admission requirements.

Admission Requirements and Timelines

Can you get in – and how long will it take? Schools typically have far more applicants who meet minimum standards than they have slots. In fact, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (ACCN) reports that, though 20,402 California students were taking nursing courses at the BSN level or higher in 2012 and fully 6,686 graduated, a startling 6,913 were turned away. How do schools handle this situation? Some schools have a waitlist. You may be assured a spot if you meet the stated requirements. The flip side is that you may have a year or two to wait.

Some institute a point system to determine who gets in. TEAS scores and grades in science and general education courses are often considered. As a prospective nursing student, you may want to consider not just the minimum standards, but the typical profile of the admitted cohort.

Students who are having a difficult time finding a school without a waitlist may consult the Discover Nursing site (http://www.discovernursing.com/schools#no-filters ).

Financial Considerations

Costs vary widely. Sometimes the price of getting into a program – without being one of those top contenders – is going to a more expensive private school.

Nursing students don’t always bear the brunt of the cost. In addition to standard financial aid like the Pell Grant, there are moneys set aside specifically for nurses. Some are tied to a practice obligation. The California Board has assembled a list of financial aid resources (http://www.rn.ca.gov/careers/financial-aid.shtml ).

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a mean wage of $94,120 for California RNs – which is not to say that a nurse should expect to make this figure at a first job. Salaries depend on experience and on type of position; a charge nurse or a nurse with expertise in a specialty will typically make more than a beginning nurse.

LPN Online 6 Week Classes

Lpn programs online accreditedMost LPN wants to take LPN courses online or to become LPN in 6 weeks. Is it possible to become LPN by taking 6 week classes? Not likely and here’s why.

Licensed practical nursing is a step closer to people who want to gain a degree in nursing. The reason people are much more willing to get a licensed practical nurse education than a registered nurse program is because it will only take a year to undergo which would give them the chance to work earlier; thinking they could go back to school later on to get a degree as registered nurse.

To be qualified for a LPN educational program you must have a decent GED score or a high school diploma. LPN classes include study anatomy, physiology, pediatrics, medical and surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, administration of meds, basic nutrition and first aid training.

LPN classes include both in the class room study and clinical study. What does clinical study mean? It means you have to take at least 70+ hours of hands-on training, in side a real hospital setting and under supervision of a register nurse. As it is clearly stated, because of the clinical training factor, you cannot become LPN by taking classes online.

For CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) who wants to become LPN, it s because you already had the clinical training, some of your credits may be transferred toward your LPN degree. Please know this. The CNA hands on training and LPN clinical training is vastly difference. For the most part, you may not have to take as many credit hours for the clinical study as other people. You have to check with the school admin to make sure. If you re a Medical assistant who would like to go back to school for LPN certification, you will also need to consult with your chosen school for additional curriculum if any to switch your career from MA to LPN.

Find LPN Schools Near You

After you graduate as LPN from an accredited university, you will need to pass the state exam which is called NCLEX PN exam.

Licensed practical nurses otherwise known as LVN (Licensed vocational nurse) in some states are focused on providing bedside care unlike registered nurses. Their task is more technical and their practice depends on what state they are in. Keep in mind that it is not enough that you obtain a license, but in order to become a good practical nurse, you must instill care for people and your patients per se. One has to be emotionally ready and observant to gain good decision-making skills.

The entire LPN courses from start to finish can span about one year and spread out at least three semesters. The cost of LPN tuition is around $4000.00. You may need to take hands-on training two days of the week at a local hospital and three days in the class rooms. The big question for all mothers who want to know if they can take LPN courses online? You may want to consult your school first and make sure their schedules can accommodate you before you sign on. From the way it looks, you may have to go to school full time. LPN online 6 week classes.

Approved Online Law School – Approved Online Law Schools #accredited #online #law

You are here: Approved Online Law Schools

Approved Online Law Schools

ABA approved online law schools do not yet exist.

ABA approved online law schools don’t exist yet because the ABA Standards for the Approval of Law Schools currently do not allow for an online law school Juris Doctor degree program. ABA Standard 306 allows an ABA approved law school to award up to 12 credits toward the Juris Doctorate degree for distance education courses, but does not set any guidelines or standards for online law schools. ABA accredited law schools can only grant four credits a semester and students cannot take online law school classes in their first year of law school.

The State Bar of California has approved online law schools in order to provide students an opportunity to receive a legal education while working. One approved online law school the California School of Law is committed to providing an education as close to an ABA residential law school as possible online.

Donald Polden, Dean of the Santa Clara University School of Law said “There’s growing comfort with online education as a useful and meaningful method of offering a part of the law school curriculum,” he says. “[But], for a high quality program, you have to have students together because so much of learning happens in that interaction in the classroom space.”

That is exactly what the California School of Law’s does. Their virtual classes meet each week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with students and professors participating in a live video conference in which they discuss and debate the law as if they were physically in the same room. In these classes students and professors utilize the traditional Socratic Method. The virtual classes at the California School of Law provide a genuine law school experience at a pace and cost that is manageable for a working adult.

For over a hundred years all of the law schools in the United States have taught using the Socratic question and answer method, and all of the ABA approved law schools in the United States teach by the Socratic Method. Under the Socratic Method system of legal instruction, before each class students are assigned cases and statutes to read and brief. A crucial part of the learning process, students are questioned by the professors, sometimes rigorously with follow-up questions, regarding the facts, rule of law, and the court’s reasoning.

At the California School of Law students have over 270 hours of class time a year and can form study groups that can meet at any time. And with Westlaw the students have access to the largest law library in the world.

Approved Online Law Schools

The legal profession has traditionally been conservative and slow to adapt to change. Also, there is no pressure on the ABA approved law schools, since bricks-and-mortar schools are having no problem attracting applicants to pay their hefty tuition. More than 100,000 people apply annually for 45,000 open seats at ABA approved law schools. Average cost of law school is upwards of $50,000 to $150,000 for a degree, depending whether a school is public or private.

At the California School of Law classes are paced and the tuition of $9,000.00 a year is a cost that is manageable for a working adult. State of the art technology enables students to submit examinations, essays and memoranda of law online, for professors to review, discuss, and grade. The Approved Online Law Schools technology also enables the students to form study groups as at ABA law schools in which they discuss cases, trade class outlines, prep for tests and make friends and networking connections that may last a lifetime.

In conclusion, the ABA continues to remain behind the technological curve when it comes to approving online law schools that use technology to facilitate legal education. Online law schools provide students with access to a law degree which they may have never been able to obtain due to outrageous tuition at traditional brick and mortar law schools and the additional costs associated with relocation. Luckily, for this new generation of law students, schools like the California School of Law are utilizing technology without sacrificing the benefits of traditional legal pedagogy.

The California School of Lawoffers all the benefits of a traditional law school education at a fraction of the price of the ABA accredited online law schools. Prospective law students need not wait for ABA accredited online law school they can to see for themselves what the opportunities are at California Approved online law schools.

What Accreditation Means to Online Education

    Featured College

Accreditation of higher education institutions typically indicates an official, U.S. Department of Education-sanctioned review of each academic model. The privilege to advertise accreditation means a general curriculum, or specialty curriculum, has undergone a rigorous review by one of a handful of DOE-sanctioned accrediting agencies.

Accreditation aims to corral the academic metrics and apply them to higher educational institutions. But not every college and university is accredited because accreditation remains a voluntary process. Most that value their reputations now sport accreditation, though, and students seeking online degrees are absolutely encouraged to seek out those programs with the proper accreditation. However, keep in mind that some legitimate schools, such as faith-based universities and newer programs, may not be accredited despite offering high-quality educational experiences.

    Accreditation Criteria

Accrediting agencies have general criteria by which they measure an institution s academic worthiness. Online colleges and universities undergo a multifaceted process of accreditation that does not take place overnight. Accreditation agents typically visit a physical campus and/or administrative offices, examine institutional infrastructure, and make certain that credentialed faculty and academic processes are legitimate and intact. Each institution is also held accountable for its own self-evaluation. Criteria used to measure academic worth include:

    • Institutional mission.
    • Ability to evaluate and modify academic models to accommodate future growth.
    • Effective curriculum, qualified faculty, and evidence of measurable learning.
    • Support of faculty and students and evidence of vision to support their work outside academic parameters.
    • Involvement with community, both regional and global.

    Degree and Accrediation Mills

In the world of online education, there remain low-quality programs that do not offer the same degree value as those from respected institutions. And low-quality aside, there are plenty of online degree mills that sell illegitimate degrees to misled degree-hungry consumers. Degree and diploma mills manage to feed on consumers ignorance and zeal for a college degree. Degrees ìconferredî based on life experience may seem ridiculous, but plenty of individuals have been stung by this real-world ploy.

Legitimate colleges and universities in the U.S. may be accredited by one or more DOE-recognized accrediting agencies. Some accreditors are responsible for general curriculums, while others are charged with specialized programs. such as teaching, nursing, psychology, and many others. Consumers shopping for high-quality online degrees and professional education are advised to assure academic quality by confirming a college or university s distance education accreditation is one of those listed with the DOE.

    Accreditation and PhD Online Programs

Accreditation: What It Is and Why It Matters

Accreditation is a process by which a recognized body certifies an academic institution or program within the institution, including online degree programs. Accredited online PhD degree programs are those that have been certified by an accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). This ensures that the accredited PhD online or campus-based program meets the quality and curriculum requirements set by the accrediting agency, so students are spending money on a useful education that will be recognized by future employers rather than a degree from a “diploma mill” that may be worthless in the future.

    National Accreditation Agencies to Know

In the U.S. the Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognizes national and programmatic accrediting agencies. It also recognizes six regional accrediting organizations that evaluate schools in different parts of the country:

Because evaluation of schools is broken into regions, the CHEA can ensure that schools and programs throughout the country may be evaluated, and its high standards can be enforced.

The U.S. Department of Education also maintains a database of accredited postsecondary institutions and programs. Before you apply for an online or campus-based PhD program, check the accreditation status of the school and the program itself. The USDE database is more reliable than the program or school’s website, as some programs have displayed false accreditation from fake agencies or agencies not recognized by the CHEA. However, the database may not include newly accredited schools, or may list programs that have recently lost their accreditation, so be sure to check with the school as well.

    See How Schools Become Accredited

The process of gaining accreditation involves the institution as well as the recognized national or regional accrediting body.

    Institutional accreditation

In addition to ensuring that the PhD program you are considering is accredited, check that it is from a school with institutional accreditation. Institutional accreditation can be career-related, as with career schools, continuing education, or health education schools, or it could be faith-related. A nationally accredited online PhD degree is one offered by an institution accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council. which oversees institutions offering distance and online degrees.

First, the accrediting organization develops standards that must be met in order for a school to receive accreditation. The intuition then undertakes a self-study, in which its own staff evaluates whether the school meets standards outlined by the accrediting agency, and which may be submitted to the accreditation agency. Once the staff is confident the school meets these standards, they apply for accreditation, at which time the agency undertakes visits and conducts other research to determine whether or not the institution meets their guidelines. These standards typically require schools to have an adequate number of faculty and staff for the student population. They also look at the education and experience of faculty, technical facilities for online programs, resources such as libraries and laboratories, and student graduation and employment rates. If the school meets the criteria, it receives accreditation, which must be periodically reviewed for the institution to maintain accredited status.

    Programmatic accreditation

Programmatic accreditation is the review of specific programs within a college or university, such as business or law. At the doctoral level, completing a degree from an accredited program is a requirement of licensing for some professions, particularly healthcare.

It is not enough for a program to be accredited, however, as not all accreditation agencies are recognized by the CHEA. Programmatic accreditation standards vary by subject. For example, a programmatic accreditation agency such as ABET. which evaluates science and engineering programs, will have varying requirements depending on what type of program it is evaluating, such as mechanical engineering, biochemistry, or software engineering, and whether a program is offered at undergraduate or graduate level. However, all programs must meet ABET’s minimum standards of student outcomes, have procedures in place for improvement, meet general curriculum requirements of at least a year for math and science education and one and one-half years of science or engineering, and have sufficient qualified faculty for students.

To see if the accredited online PhD program you are considering is accredited by a recognized agency, browse the directory of programmatic accrediting organizations on the CHEA website.

    • Self-Paced, Independent Study
    • Access to Syllabus Before Enrolling

The schools included, however, have been chosen because they are both reasonably priced and regionally-accredited unless otherwise noted. The list is far from exhaustive, though, and not meant to purposefully exclude any colleges. They are primarily mentioned to give students an understanding of the types of course formats that are available today. A student may find it helpful to do their own research to find the courses that best fit their budget, schedule and degree plan.

The following colleges offer affordable online, semester-based courses in eight or sixteen-week formats. Courses from this list of schools can be found starting from lower than $100 per credit hour.

Another emerging trend in higher education is the offering of creative tuition plans. Fixed rate tuition is a unique option being offered by a few colleges. Western Governors University in Utah charges a flat $3,000 per six-month term and the student can complete as many courses as they want in that period. Courses begin the first of each month and a student can enroll in as many sessions as they like.

Many colleges are now offering students the ability to begin taking online courses throughout the year instead of following traditional fall and spring semester formats. Some schools begin classes every month. Courses generally follow eight or sixteen-week schedules, but students can begin any month that fits them best. The following colleges in this category offer tuition beginning at less than $175 per credit.

    Self-Paced, Independent Study

The number of courses being offered in this category by today’s colleges and universities is growing very quickly. Students are demanding flexibility and schools are responding. Students can work through the course material at their own pace, which can prove to be very helpful both for those wanting to move quickly and for those needing to go more slowly.

The course material directs students through each subject and often requires written assignments and tests. Instructors are available for questions and grading, but the course is directed by the material and not the teacher. Students should assume these courses are just as challenging as traditional courses, but can offer greater flexibility to students with demanding schedules.

Many colleges such as Louisiana State University, Portland State University, and the University of Oklahoma have no admission requirements, and students simply register and pay for courses. Colleges usually allow students between six and twelve months to finish, but may give extensions of time for an additional fee.

Most colleges offering self-paced online courses also offer other online courses in traditional semester-based formats. However, one benefit of self-paced courses is the ability for students to begin any day of the year. These courses might also be referred to as “self-paced,” “quick entry,” “correspondence” and “open entry-open exit”. The colleges below offer flexible, independent, self-paced courses beginning at less than $100 per credit.

    Access to Syllabus Before Enrolling

Many students may benefit from having the opportunity to review a course syllabus before enrolling. This allows students to research the course content, work requirements, grading system, and time commitment needed to earn a satisfactory grade. The following colleges place their syllabi online for students to review prior to enrolling. Colleges in this category can be found with tuition starting under $100 per credit hour.

    Flexibility with Course Prerequisites

Colleges normally require students to take basic courses before proceeding to more advanced courses. As a result, students must follow college policies to prove that course prerequisites have been met before they will be allowed to enroll in an advanced class. College prerequisite policies can vary a great deal, but Louisiana State University’s policy is especially easy to follow for their online students.

LSU’s website is very informative and it clearly explains course content, lesson assignments, grading formats, and more. They offer more than 175 online, self-paced courses for less than $100 per credit hour, including many upper level courses.

Many colleges require students who take online courses to take their tests under the supervision of an approved proctor. Local college testing centers and libraries are common locations for students to arrange for a proctor. Some colleges, however, allow their students to take some of their exams without a proctor. Each course has different testing guidelines. Some instructors feel comfortable assessing a student’s knowledge through writing assignments, projects or group discussions, and allow their exams to be taken online. The following colleges have offered some courses with non- proctored tests. The colleges from this category begin tuition at less than $100 per credit hour.

    Science Courses with Labs

One of the challenges of earning the majority of a degree online is the common requirement for a science course with a lab. Many colleges offer online science courses, but only a handful will include the lab. The following colleges include an online lab with some of their science courses. Colleges in this category offer courses for as little as $100 per credit hour.

Some colleges are including the cost of textbooks and learning materials in their tuition price. They sell themselves on the idea that their costs are all-inclusive, with no hidden fees. Two affordable online colleges offer students this option. Colleges in this category currently offer all-inclusive tuition beginning around $250 per credit hour.

    Non-Regionally Accredited Schools

Some students may want to consider taking courses from Penn Foster College, even though this school does not have regional accreditation. Students who plan on graduating from a college that accepts ACE credit may be able to take advantage of Penn Foster’s more than 180 online courses that have been recommended by ACE. Colleges that do not normally accept credits, from non-regionally-accredited institutions, may still allow these courses to be transferred because they have been approved by ACE.

Penn Foster offers manageable, self-paced courses that students are allowed to take twelve months to complete. Students can begin these courses anytime and textbooks and study materials are included in the tuition. They also offer multiple options for acceptable exam proctors. These courses will not work for every student, but may be considered by students choosing colleges with generous transfer policies. Penn Foster currently offers courses for less than $100 per credit hour.

    Online Christian Ministry Degrees

Some online private Christian colleges offer affordable tuition for students wanting to earn a ministry degree. Some of these colleges offer undergraduate degrees while others focus on the post-graduate level. Colleges in this category currently begin tuition at less than $200 per credit hour.

Low-Priced Online MBA Courses and Degrees

College tuition for a masters degree is usually higher than tuition for undergraduates. This often places these degrees out of the financial reach of many students. Students looking for affordable graduate-level courses may want to research the following colleges, with tuition starting at less than $250 per credit hour.
