Motels in Santa Monica

GREAT for the cheapest option

I have no idea why this property gets so many negative reviews: my experience was entirely positive. 1. It’s the cheapest motel in the whole area. If you expect to be housed like royalty, stay at a respectively priced place like Hilton. But to us it didn’t feel like the cheapest option. It’s clean, cute and quiet. 2. The rooms don’t have AC, but you can ask for a fan. We didn’t, and we were okay with the windows open. 3. Checkout can be done by dropping the key off at the bin by the front desk. 4. The rooms are clean, and the facilities are well-kept. They are a bit on the older side, but are well-maintained and clean. Our bed was pretty comfortable to sleep on, and the sheets were clean and fresh. 5. This motel is located within a 15-20 minute walk from the Santa Monica pier, and there is a gas station right on the corner should you need to get snacks/coffee/smokes/etc. It is also on the bus route, which can get you real close to the beach. Or you can catch Uber/Lyft for about $4-5 to get you there. Thank you to the staff for making our stay the best it could be! And thank you for making Santa Monica more affordable!

When the sun comes out on Santa Monica Boulevard..

We finished our USA road trip in Santa Monica. The Hotel Carmel is in the ideal spot for beach, shops and food. Foyer slightly more impressive than the rest of the slightly out-dated hotel, but the room was clean and large enough for the four of us, including two teenagers. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Complimentary coffee and pastries in the foyer each morning also a nice touch to keep you going long enough to find breakfast in the cafes a few doors away in either direction. Recommended.

More I knew going in not to have high expectations of a Motel 6 and I knew we only needed a place to sleep for one night so I didn t think it would be as horrible as it was. If I could give zero stars I would. Something seemed wrong right away because the comforters were totally wrinkled but I thought maybe they left them sitting in dryer too long. Wrong! Underneath the comforters were sheets full of long black hairs. The fan in the bathroom also wasn t covered. My husband asked to be moved to another room. The next room the AC had a high pitched noise that you couldn t correct. In the 3rd room, one of the beds totally buckled when my husband was checking for hair in the sheets. The 4th room that we ended settling with still had many hairs in the bed and boogers on the wall next to one bed. I cleaned the wall myself and we all slept on top of the comforters and got up early to get out as soon as we could. I m currently washing everything that touched any part of those rooms. I will never stay at a Motel 6 again!

More Let s start off by saying the pictures of the queen room are very decieving, the room is very small, and the bathroom is in the room like a studio which can be awkward if sharing. When you walk in the room it looks promising because the decor is minimal and nothing is upholstered. The room looks like you could essentially hose it down to clean it which leads me to believe it will be very clean. It s not. There was visible dust and dandruff on the headboard too and in the corners coming off the wall at the base of the matress. There was hair on everything which I m trying to convince myself was just from the dryer. So then you think to yourself, ok I just need to sleep here, get some rest no big deal well. The mattress is on a base that can only be described like one of those pull out couches from the 90 s. It has one of those bars right across your back so you wake up in agony. We picked this hotel because chains (imo) usually have figured out how to give the most affordable and pleasant experience. Not in this case. Shame.

Nice hotel but toilet was running

Everything about my stay was fine except that the toilet tank was running intermittently every 5-10 minutes. I told the front desk within an hour of noticing it and went to dinner, hoping they had sent someone up to fix it but that didn’t happen. As a result, it was an annoying sound all night and disturbed my sleep. Otherwise everything was fine and the food in the hotel restaurant downstairs was very good.

    A Wonderful Stay!

I had a wonderful experience with Sofitel. Their staff was incredibly courteous and helpful and the amenities they offered were great. I didn’t even have a chance to experience it all! They could use a bit more organization, as I did have a few small issues. I was told by the staff to leave my room service tray outside my door as I left to explore the city, but it was still there two hours later, and that’s not always a pleasant sight for guests. They also had attempted to charge me for valet service for half of my trip (even though it was evident by the other half that I hadn’t brought a car), but they were quick to fix the issue when I brought it up. All in all, it was a great experience, but it could use a little polish.

I stayed here one night for business. For an LA hotel at a reasonable price, this was very good. The room was clean with plenty of space. The parking was secure and fairly priced for LA. The breakfast was decent with scrambled eggs, sausage, mini waffles and the like. I would certainly stay here again. Not a fancy place, but quite adequate. The staff were friendly and responsive.

Los Angeles Hotel & Travel Guide

The famed American architect Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “Tip the world over on its side and everything loose will land in Los Angeles.” That may very well have occurred already. The mix of cultures will make your journey to the coast feel like you’ve spun a lap around the world. Visit Los Angeles piece by piece and enjoy cuisine from all corners of the earth, spread out on the beach to get some color, and soak in the cityscape from the Griffith Observatory. And if you’re wondering where to stay in LA, look no further than Travelocity’s hotels in Los Angeles.

Things to Do in Los Angeles

Fill your days and nights with things to do in Los Angeles —there’s certainly no shortage in this fabulous Southern California city. Wandering the streets is like stepping through a portal into another world. Especially when you’re strolling the avenues at the eastern edge of downtown that’s known as the Arts District. Once full of abandoned and decrepit warehouses, this section of town has transformed itself into a place bursting with bohemian creativity. Head to the intersection of East Third Street and Traction Avenue where works from renowned artists like JR, Shephard Fairey and many more can be viewed. You can even take a guided art tour through some of the neighborhood’s finest galleries.

Further west, the soothing waters of the Pacific Ocean roll gently onto the fine, white sand of the beaches of Santa Monica. Some of the best places to stay in Los Angeles are located along this famous stretch of sand. And poking 2,745 feet into the water is the world famous Santa Monica Pier. Let your inner child run free at the Pacific Park amusement park, the only theme park on the West Coast located on a pier. Get a bird’s eye view of the coast from high above while riding the Pacific wheel or maybe a spin on the West Coaster will provide you with the thrills you’re looking for.

    Eating and Drinking

When you’ve worked up an appetite, you’re in luck because this town is a foodie’s paradise. Stroll down Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach—GQ named this street “America’s coolest block”—and take your pick from any number of boutique dining options. L.A. is a melting pot of cultures so if you want to try a meal that originated from across the world, you don’t have to go far. Situated in the southwest corner of downtown, Little Tokyo is one of only three official Japantowns in North America and is the center for Japanese-Americans in Southern California. Digging into a bowl full of udon noodles or enjoying some of the freshest sushi in the city isn’t complete without an accompanying bottle of fine sake. Hot or cold? That is the question.

From the coastal neighborhoods of Venice Beach and Santa Monica to the sprawling inland avenues of East Los Angeles, there’s no shortage of restaurants serving some of the finest dishes originating from south of the border. You don’t need to make reservations at a 5-star restaurant in order to have one of the better meals of your life. You can if you want, but some of the greatest Mexican culinary treasures in this city are holes-in-the-wall, street vendors, and mom-and-pop places that wouldn’t normally make must-go lists. Oh, but they should.

    Green Spaces Galore

The second largest city in the United States stretches across the landscape as far as the eye can see, but amid this concrete jungle are beautiful greenbelts for you to relax in. Rent a room in Los Angeles near Griffith Park in the Los Feliz neighborhood. The Central Park of Los Angeles is home several attractions like the Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles Zoo, and the Autry National Center. But if you’re looking to get real rugged, go for a hike through Bronson Canyon. Make sure to possibly be ready for your close-up, this is an extremely popular filming location for Hollywood elites.

    Day Trips from Los Angeles

L.A.’s central location in Southern California makes it a perfect jumping off point for some of the better day trips in the state. Leave one of the Los Angeles hotels and take a short 95-mile jaunt up U.S. Route 101, which will bring you to the lovely beachside community of Santa Barbara, the escape for the stars. Just inland lie sprawling vineyards waiting for you to sample their perfectly crafted bottles of vino. Check out the local wine tours in the area and toast to one of the better getaways you’ve been on.

If you’d like to take a break from the coast for a day or two, head east on Interstate 10 for 107 miles. The suburban lands of eastern Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire, and San Bernardino County give way to arid deserts that look like Lawrence of Arabia once traveled through. And in this desert landscape sits the Renaissance town of Palm Springs where Dean, Frank, Sammy, and the rest of the Rat Pack once relaxed. Shop through the chic boutiques along Palm Canyon Drive before riding the cable car up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The 12-and-a-half-minute ride lifts you from the floor of the Coachella Valley to the top of San Jacinto Peak. There are several hiking trails at the top you can wander on and even a restaurant & bar. Enjoy a burger and beer while taking in a mountain-top view across the vast Southern California desert. When your time in the desert is up, our Los Angeles hotel deals will ensure you have a comfortable place to rest your head back in La-la-land.

    Welcome to Tinseltown

The glitz, the glamour, the sun, and the sand. The only way to experience it all is to book a stay at one of Travelocity’s finest hotels in downtown Los Angeles during your next trip. It doesn’t matter whether you’re coming for a sun tan, to experience the growing culinary scene or if you’re looking for that big break on the silver screen, you won’t find better offers on your next getaway to the California coast.

I have been moved from room to room and so far have not hit on the magic combination. The closest I am getting is Room 6316 in Building D. Everything is OK except the TV is missing 70% of the channels and the ones it does get are so bad the watching the screen will give you a headache. The picture is horrible. I have asked on multiple occasions (at least once a day), so far I have been fully ignored. SO stay here at your own risk. There are far better accommodations in the area for roughly the same price. Why am I staying here? Because my company had prepaid and booked this place for the next 28 days else I be gone. P.S. Our firm has 5 or 6 of us booked here for over a month all of us have rooms in Building D with some sort of issue TV or Stove top not working and requests to get them rectified go ignored. Guess where our company will not be booking the next time we have a extended project in the SF area.

I booked the hotel 2 weeks prior to the stay. A couple of days prior to the stay the room was more than 50% cheaper. Naturally we cancelled the first reservation and re-booked at the lower rate. The front office smelled of curry which is fine I suppose if you are in a restaurant but not a hotel office/lobby. We went our room only to smell mold in the bathroom. We tried to call the front desk but the phone had no cords attached – this was a not meant to be a wireless phone (the phone looked like it came from he early 90s possibly late 80s). I might ad. I found the cords behind the furniture but it did not help as the phone did not work. We walked back to the office and the manager/owner came back and said she could not smell anything. She was politely arguing with my friend who was telling her that she was allergic to mold and would not be able to sleep. Finally she showed us the room next door only for it to smell of smoke (this was a non smoking room) in the bedroom. The bathroom had a strong smell – like a bad cleaning product. We asked for another room but were told we had to pay more. Or we could go back to our original room and she would spray it. We walked away back to the original room where our belongings were talking about how we would rate on social media when we the manager/owner came back to us and tell us she could give us the larger room at no additional cost – that room had no smell. However the tv did not work and the phone barely had any buttons on it. at first the manager/owner said she could not do anything about the tv. Then she told me to unplug the tv blah blah blah and see if that would work. I followed the instructions 3xs with still no tv. Finally the manager/owner came and after 15-20 min got the to to work (I think on accident) because she seemed surprised when it worked. She tried to blame it on the the oat guests. Whatever.

I would like to add that the parking lot does NOT have enough spaces per room.

If I could give zero stars I would. The customer should come first especially if it comes to health. A room should not smell. Nor should an office/lobby smell.

Too many choices in Santa Barbara so this should not be considered.

Not the best place, but considering location I would definitely stay there again. Parking is not so easy as many others have observed, but doable. Make a reservation. Rooms were absolutely okay, but don’t count on a view. Area was also okay. Sure you will see homeless, but you’ll see that nearly anywhere. Location was within easy walking distance to Hollywood attractions and an easy walk to the Metro to go to Universal Studios.

Cheap, noisy but right on Hollywood Blvd walk of fame

    JubeSouthWales (18 reviews)

Ok place to stay but don’t expect much in terms of the hotel. Terrible old decor although you may like orange. The hotel is literally a minutes walk off Hollywood Blvd and about a 10 minute walk to the Chinese theatre. Rooms are noisy thin walls and squeaky floors. Music from clubs and street noise can be heard through the night. Road it is on is a bit seedy with a super cheap hotel next door with some odd characters hanging around outside it.

Walk of fame is much more grubby than we had imagined with a good many homeless sleeping on the street from early evening onwards. If I ever went again I wouldn’t chose to stay in Hollywood itself.

Parking at hotel was $12 but it was full when we arrived but an open parking lot next door was available at $25 for the night.

MOLD everywhere. My best friend brought her family here and they all got super sick and went to the ER in marina deal Rey, scared because they were getting headaches and coughing after their 2nd day! Don t do it, how ridiculous to pay so much per night and even after asking them to exchange rooms because her sister in law had a baby and they REFUSED said too bad because it was their third night and why didn t they complain earlier! Seriously what a joke! They then tried to blame her for breaking the toilet! Well I m going to show u pics of the old piece of crap and the mold all over the sink and room!

    The entrance. Wow

    Stop following Chi W.

Unfortunately, the water took over 5 min to get hot. and it was backing up in the shower. We had to get someone to unclog the shower drain. He came and used a plunger that s used for the toilet. The next day was worse: there was standing dirty water in the shower, backed up and almost overflowing the bathroom. Disgusting.

    Was this review ?

Alright, first off, let me say that all I basically want at cheap priced hotels/motels is:

    – air conditioning/ refrigerator
    – a clean room (bug free), clean sheets, towels, etc.
    – working toilet, sink and shower
    – working door lock/ no theft from housekeeping
    – parking lot
    – safe-ish neighborhood

IMO, these should the basics every place should have to obtain repeat customers.

This place failed in the working shower requirement. We only stayed there 2 nights and both times I used the shower I had problems getting hot water. The first time, it took several minutes for the water to warm up and even then it fluctuated on me. The second time, it took FOREVER to get even warm water that I could wash my hair in without risking getting a cold afterwards. I even turned all the cold water off and turned the hot water knob full blast and it was just a tiny bit warm after more than 10 minutes of trying. This was just downright annoying.

The shower drain also took forever to drain the water out so that the next guy using the shower had to wait a while before going in.

They did fine in everything else tho. It had a microwave, fridge, tv with a movie channel and a weird porn channel with the upper left window of the screen showing it, a love seat sofa, AC worked pretty strong and they tidied up our room pretty neatly. Place was pretty darn clean with no bugs in site. Floor is tiled, not carpeted.

So you decide how important the shower is to you, it was REALLY important to me.

To start, we go here at 5pm and the room was supposed to be ready at 3. It wasn t they said it would be ready in 20min cause they were so behind from last night. All I got was free WiFi for the trouble. Finally got in the room and it is not very clean, on top of that the tv is super old, there is a beer bottle opener on the side of the sink and the bathroom door doesn t lock. I do not feel safe sleeping here.

More Motel 6 is a nice hotel, great location (one mile walk to the America s Cup Pavilion), beautiful but very small rooms, with wonderful beds. The Bay view rooms are worth the upgrade, the view of the water is terrific and you have a view of the Bay Bridge light show (not all I hoped it would be). The staff is polite but not overly friendly. They have bikes you can borrow, which makes getting around the city much easier!

Yosemite National Park Tourism: Best of Yosemite National Park

    Yosemite National Park, California

Tucked into the mountains of California, Yosemite National Park is renowned for its granite cliffs and waterfalls. Half Dome and El Capitan are two of the formations made famous by photographer Ansel Adams. The valley is open year-round for camping, hiking, and climbing. Traffic is congested during peak season and park rangers encourage visitors to use the free shuttle system. For upscale visits, the Ahwahnee Hotel, built in 1927, is chic and luxurious.

Prendi e consumi in stanza.

LoanMart Offers Auto Title Loans in Los Angeles

LoanMart provides auto title loans in Los Angeles with extremely competitive rates. It is free to apply for an auto title loan, and our information request form requires no initial obligations. This means you may find out how much we may be able to lend you before you make your choice to continue with the loan.

You may borrow between $2,510 and $50,000 depending on several factors, such as the equity value of your qualifying vehicle and your ability to pay the loan on time each month.¹ ⁵ Qualified applicants in Los Angeles may even be able to receive their funds in as little as one business day.³

Applying for an Auto Title Loan in Los Angeles

An auto title loan is a financial tool that allows customers to use the free-and-clear title to their qualifying vehicle as collateral to secure a loan that is to be paid back in monthly installments. You have the choice to pay your auto title loan off early, because we do not charge our customers prepayment penalty fees.

When you get an auto title loan, you allow LoanMart to place a lien on your qualifying vehicle’s title in exchange for the loan. You still have full use of the vehicle while making regular on-time monthly payments and may continue to drive it. When the auto title loan is paid back in full, the lender removes the lien on the vehicle’s title and returns the title to you.

Features of Auto Title Loans in Los Angeles from LoanMart

Getting an auto title loan may be important to families and individuals who have been afflicted by a sudden, unexpected accident or other event. We do not ask you why you need the money because we respect your privacy.

We also offer the following features with auto title loans in Los Angeles:

    • If you qualify, it may be possible to receive your funds in as little as 1 business day³
    • You won’t receive any penalties for paying your loan back early
    • Positive reporting with on-time monthly payments
    • Rates are competitive
    • Auto title loan funds can be used however you choose
    • All potential customers are encouraged to apply regardless of their credit rating

How Do Payments Work for Auto Title Loans in Los Angeles with LoanMart?

Payments for an auto title loan from LoanMart are monthly and amortized. This means each monthly payment made is applied to both the interest and principle balance of the auto title loan. Not many lenders do this, and it eliminates balloon payments at the end of the loan term.

What You Need to Apply in Los Angeles for an Auto Title Loan:

It is 100-percent free for Los Angeles residents to apply for an auto title loan from LoanMart. Our auto title loan agents are standing by to provide you with a free estimated loan amount.

    • Apply online: You may utilize your computer, tablet or smart device to fill out and turn in an online information request form. One of our auto title loan agents will review your form and contact you as soon as possible.
    • Apply by phone: You may call our auto title loan agents directly at 323-844-2960 and apply over the phone.
You also need to submit the following documents listed below for an auto title loan from LoanMart:
    • The free-and-clear title to a qualifying vehicle, which is in your name
    • Your driver’s license or state-issued photo ID, which must be valid
    • Proof of residence, such as a utility bill
    • Proof of income, such as a recent pay stub

Apply today for FREE to see if you qualify for an auto title loan in Los Angeles from LoanMart!

¹LoanMart may act as the broker for the loan, and may not be the direct lender. All loan applications are subject to meeting our credit criteria, which includes providing acceptable property as collateral. Minimum loan amount vary by state. Consumers need to demonstrate ability to repay the loan.

LoanMart is licensed or registered as required by applicable state law and does not offer or service student loans. Loan proceeds are intended primarily for personal, family and household purposes.

²Based on borrowers who received a loan from February 2002 to April 2016.

³Application process could take 5 minutes to complete. Upon completion, a conditional approval may be given pending review of documentation. Funding time is based on the time from final approval following receipt and review of all required documents and signing, prior to 5 PM PST on a business day.

⁴To exercise the right to cancel, the borrower(s) must notify LoanMart in writing by midnight on the sixth calendar day from obtaining the loan. Within one business day from notice of cancelation, the borrower(s) must return any monies received and fees paid on behalf of the borrower(s) by certified funds. If payment is not received by that time, borrower(s) will owe the full amount of the loan indicated on the agreement. Borrowers who canceled a loan pursuant to the 5-Day Peace of Mind Guarantee from LoanMart are not eligible for the 5-Day Peace of Mind Guarantee promotion. The 5-Day Peace of Mind Guarantee promotion is only available once per borrower.

Hind s Hospice is a wonderful organization, but its thrift store needs some work. The store has some semblance of organization, but is still very cluttered, especially the furniture and large appliance area. Walk carefully! Clothing is well organized on racks with hangers. Pricing is my greatest complaint. They don t price merchandise to move out quickly to be replaced by newer donations. For example, I found a miniature ceramic house from Dollar Tree ($1.00) priced here at $3.00. I collect board games and found one I was interested in at double the price I can find a new in box copy on Amazon. When I compare this thrift store with the others in the area, such as AMVETS, Salvation Army, and even those horribly-run Goodwill stores, I see there is a different approach to pricing donated goods. And it s not one designed to make money for them.

This is a pretty big thrift store with the most impressive electronics and sports equipment selection I ve ever seen in a used setting. For example, there were tons of big TV s for sale, which were all on (the same channel) to prove that they worked. Also, there were some big gym equipment like cross-bow resistance trainers and I think even cardio stuff like infomercial Tony Gazelles?

See all 6 reviews in the app!

Found some pretty lil things like teacups, table napkins and a few clothes. Some of their prices are a little high, some are good. I was glad I found some clothes that were 50%off that day. a pair of womens size(small) pants and 2 tops from $4 each to $2 ea. The store could need need some organizing especially the houseware and furnitures because they re placed everywhere. some are at the front, side and back of the store. The staff are nice. They re helpful especially that one older gentleman last 1/18/2016 at the counter who made sure all of my purchased stuff are wrapped securedly and placed in a box.

    Plug G.

There is a lot of stuff here. Most of it belongs in the land fill. You can just tell most of their donations are from folks that want avoid to dump fees, so they bring it here. Everything seems to be broken or missing parts. The few quality, intact, items are WAY overpriced.

For example; Men s pants are $8. That s about twice the going price in other thrift stores.

Many items have no price tags so you have to hunt down an employee to get a price and they act belligerent that you disturbed them from their shelve stocking duties.

Park way behind the place to save your car from getting dinged up. Front parking is tight.

Example: There are a few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and planned that it is nothing short of genius. Last night, I had one of those meals – the Mahi Mahi.

The dish was excellently prepared. Grilled, juicy, and fresh without a hint of fishiness. A glaze of tangerine sauce brought a hint of tart sweetness. The fish was placed on a mound of sweet plantain rice. The combination of the fish and rice alone was to die for!

However, as only expert chefs can achieve, additional garnishes provided even bolder, beautiful tastes. Pickled onions topping the fish made for an even finer taste experience, while green beans hidden under the fish added freshness and completed each bite

On February 24th, 2014 my beautiful Mother flew into the loving arms of Jesus at the beautiful and peaceful Hinds Hospice home. She had been truly suffering for a week and I believe she was holding on until she could slip away with dignity. My mother was in the medical field and had many patients who had experienced the love and care of the Hinds Hospice team. She knew during her final days that Hinds Hospice was the best option for herself and her family. At first I did not understand why she wouldn’t want to die peacefully at home. Wouldn’t home be the most comfortable place for your last moments? However, after experiencing the true consideration of the Hinds team I know that my mother was thinking about the well being of her family. As for the comfort of my mother, all I know is that I felt the Lord’s presence as soon as we were welcomed at the car. I know my mother felt The Lord there as well. Nobody wants to have to make decisions about where themselves or loved ones will spend their last days, but choosing The Hinds Hospice home allowed our final moments together on this Earth to be special without the stress of having to make my Mother comfortable. That’s what the Hinds Hospice team is for:)

Would you volunteer for this group again?
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

When curing my father’s leukemia was no longer an option, we wanted him to be comfortable for whatever time he had left. Hinds Hospice helped us to bring him home and taught us how to care for him. We had an amazing 5 weeks with him at home thanks to the wonderful support of Hinds. Dad passed away in March, but the support didn’t stop there. The Center for Grief and Loss has stepped in to support us as we try to find a new normal for our family. Each month I receive mailings from them to help me cope. I will forever be grateful to Hinds Hospice. The best advice I can give is don’t wait to call. Get information early before you are in crisis.

I’ve personally experienced the results of this organization in.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would.

I wouldn’t make any changes. The care was amazing. I just wish more people knew about it.

Hinds Hospice helped me through the most difficult time of my life, the loss of my mom.
Not only did my mom receive the best possible care, our family also received amazing support from the hospice team…
We had in home care provided by Hinds Hospice, I honestly don’t know what we would have done without them, mom’s team went beyond the call, if she need supplies or medication, they would make sure it was delivered to us & if wasn’t going to be here in a timely manner her nurse would go out of her way to pick it up & bring it to her… This is just a small example of the wonderful care they provide.
They made sure that we knew at all times what was happening to our mom & what we should expect right up to the end of mom’s life… By inviting hospice into our home, we were able to spend every last moment with mom, we didn’t have to do it alone. They were just a phone call away 24 hrs. a day.
They felt like a part of our family…
Hospice is not only there for the patient, they are there for the family as well, to see that your emotional & spiritual needs are met… They are there through out your time of grief, they don’t just disappear when your loved one leaves you…. They have wonderful events for you to attend, to help with your loss, I really needed that help, it’s a comfort to know that you don’t have to go it alone.
Thanks is just not enough for what these wonderful people provide for those in need…

I’ve personally experienced the results of this organization in.

The care of a loved one.

I had heard of Hinds Hospice and never imaged I would need their services until my Dad’s cancer had reach the point of no return. Looking back now I am even more grateful to have that support at that time by people who truly care.
God Bless Nancy Hinds and all the staff at Hinds Hospice.

I’ve personally experienced the results of this organization in.

My sister call Hinds and he spent his last weeks on this earth under the extraordinary care of the staff at the Hinds Hospice Home. My family, 5 brothers and 2 sisters came into town from all over to see our dad through the last weeks of his life. The Hinds Home provided us a place to meet and discuss and spend time with our Dad. When my Dad did pass away I remember the staff asking thoughtful questions that I was not able to think of at the time.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would.

Hinds Hospice, and Hinds Hospice Angel Babies are both amazing. We had Hinds Hospice come out and care for my Dad in his last few weeks here before he passed away of Brain Cancer. My husband and I have lost 2 of our boys

I’ve personally experienced the results of this organization in.

How they reach out to their patients & clients, and the services they provide.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would.

    No changes at all!

I support Hinds Hospice because it is a wonderful, amazing organization. The staff is compassionate and caring towards patients and their families. I haven’t lived in Fresno all my life, but I can see why Hinds Hospice is celebrating 30 years this year. The service they provide is of the highest quality. In our world today, it is hard to find people that take the time to really listen and care for others. Hinds Hospice staff cares for people and they take time to slow down and listen to their patients, families, donors and friends. I pray that the community continues to embrace them so they will be around for years and years to come.

I’ve personally experienced the results of this organization in.

the lives of my friends. Many of my friends have been helped, especially through the Center for Grief and Loss, and the Angel Babies program.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would.

help them get the word out to more people about how important they are!

    What is Dad s Law?

Father s Rights Attorney in Southern California

Men Sometimes You Have to Fight for Parental Rights

At a time when men s rights are often disregarded in favor of awarding alimony, marital property and custodial rights to women, it may seem as if men have nowhere to turn for legal representation. At Southern California Dad s Law, we stand up and fight for you. Our lawyers have earned a reputation throughout the California family court system for making sure that fathers receive equal protection under the law. Because we handle divorce and child custody matters for women as well, we know that dads often have different concerns from mothers. But that doesn t mean that men are willing to have their interests forgotten about or their rights trampled on. Contact Southern California Dad s Law today.

    Paternity

Paternity is presumed for children born during a marriage, but must be established in a court of law for children of unmarried parents. Many women sue to establish paternity in order to receive child support, but then fight against the father s parental rights and visitation schedule. Paternity confers all legal rights as if the child were born within a marriage to that father. We represent the rights of unmarried fathers, as well as men seeking to disprove paternity. We are committed to aggressively protecting the rights of fathers and the best interests of their children. Whether you are single father or a dad facing divorce, we help you protect your rights as a father.

Military dads must look at all these issues from their unique perspective as active military members. Southern California Dad s Law handles all aspects of family law conflicts for men on active duty in the military.

    Divorce and Separation

Increasingly, women are awarded large marital property settlements that often strip the husband of the house, personal savings and retirement income. We aggressively fight to make sure that the wife s potential for future earnings is taken into account before the judge awards an unfair amount of spousal support and property. Our lawyers also work to ensure fair child custody and visitation orders so divorced fathers can continue and strengthen their relationships with their children. We handle post-divorce modification petitions as well, whether to address a mother s failure to allow agreed-upon visitation or to lower child support payments in response to job loss or accusations of unpaid support.

    Domestic Violence

Men are often the victims of false charges of domestic abuse. We use our experience to help you fight jail time and other negative effects that can result from a conviction of domestic violence or violation of a temporary restraining order or police order of protection. We don t let your spouse get away with charging you with abuse in order to gain the upper hand against you in your divorce or child custody dispute.

Gender Bias in Divorce is Real. We Fight Aggressively for You.

Our divorce and family court attorneys are attentive to your unique situation and listen to your concerns about gender bias in court. Contact us today to learn how our knowledge and experience can help you through all of your Family Law issues involving divorce, child custody and restraining orders. We provide a free initial telephone consultation and accept all major credit cards for your convenience.

    CAR TAX RATES

If your car was first registered before 1 April 2017 then you’ll continue to pay car tax (VED) under the current CO2-based system, but for new cars it’s all change from 1 April.

What are the new car tax (VED) rules from April 2017?
    • The first year rate will be based on official CO2 figures.
    • A flat standard rate of 140 will apply to all cars except those releasing 0 grams CO2/km for which the standard rate will be 0.
    • An extra charge of 310 a year will apply to cars with a list price over 40,000 in the first 5 standard rate years .
    • Read more details below
    VED basics

All vehicles registered in the UK and used on public roads must be taxed.

If you re not using it, you must either let the DVLA know it s being kept off-road with a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) or continue to tax it.

    • The cost of car tax (Vehicle Excise Duty) depends on how old your vehicle is and its engine size or official CO2 emissions. From April 2017 it ll depend on the car s list price when new, too.
    • The CO2 figure for your car is on the V5c registration document, as it s measured in official tests before the car s available to buy.
    • The DVLA stopped issuing paper tax discs from 1 October 2014.
    • Check the tax status of any vehicle all you need is the vehicle s make and registration number.
    • Rules for cars first registered before 1 March 2001
    • Rules for cars first registered between 1 March 2001 and 31 March 2017
    • Rules for cars first registered on or after 1 April 2017

    Registered before 1 March 2001

Car tax is based on engine size, as official CO2 data wasn t generally available. So, if the engine is:

    • 1549cc or smaller: 150 a year (2017/18 rate)
    • Bigger than 1549cc: 245 a year (2017/18 rate)

    Registered between 1 March 2001 and 31 March 2017

There’s a series of car tax bands based on official CO2 emissions that your car will fall into.

There s a different rate for brand new cars for the first year this showroom tax was introduced in 2010. The cost then changes to the standard rate from the second year.

1 12-month non-direct debit rate and single 12-month payment direct debit rate. Alternative fuel car (tax class 59) discounts are: 2015/16 10 all cars, 2016/17 10 all cars 2017/18 10 all cars

2 Includes cars releasing over 225g/km and first registered between 1 March 2001 and 23 March 2006.

    Registered after 1 April 2017

From 1 April 2017, there will be big changes to how cars are taxed. The main points are:

    • The first year rate will be based on official CO2 figures.
    • A flat standard rate of 140 will apply to all cars except those releasing 0 grams CO2/km for which the standard rate will be 0.
    • An extra charge of 310 a year will apply to cars with a list price over 40,000 in the first 5 standard rate years .
    • Alternative fuel cars (tax class 59) pay 10 less than the First year and standard rates below.
    • Cars first registered before 1 April 2017 will continue to pay car tax under the old system.

    Historic vehicle exemption

Cars built more than 40 years ago will be automatically exempt from paying car tax, from 1 January 2017.

    Car tax or road tax?

Cars started being taxed in 1920 as local councils had to start registering all vehicles. It was called Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and was based on horsepower. Tax discs were later introduced in 1921.

This new tax was initially used for building and maintaining roads. As it was paid directly into the road fund it was known as the Road Fund Licence or road tax.

In 1936, road works were being paid for by government grants. As the road fund wasn t needed any more, it was abolished in 1955. So while it might have been right to refer to it as road tax or the Road Fund Licence before 1936, this hasn t been the case since.

End of the road for the tax disc

One of the biggest changes in DVLA history was the abolition of the 93-year-old tax disc, on 1 October 2014.

Also, the DVLA now issues automatic refunds on car tax for any full months left to the registered keeper when a vehicle is sold, scrapped or a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) is made. In the past, you could transfer car tax from your old vehicle to the new one.

    Oh no, you’re leaving!

Welcome to Drake Landing Solar Community.

Solar caThe Drake Landing Solar Community (DLSC) is a master planned neighbourhood in the Town of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada that has successfully integrated Canadian energy efficient technologies with a renewable, unlimited energy source – the sun.

The first of its kind in North America, DLSC is heated by a district system designed to store abundant solar energy underground during the summer months and distribute the energy to each home for space heating needs during winter months.

The system is unprecedented in the World, fulfilling ninety percent of each home s space heating requirements from solar energy and resulting in less dependency on limited fossil fuels.

The Government of Canada and its Canadian industry partners are proud to showcase Canadian solar thermal and energy efficient technologies in this one-of-a-kind community.

    Project Status

    • 10th year of reliable operation with no unscheduled interruptions in heating delivery operations;
    • 100% solar fraction in the 2015-2016 heating season, meaning all the heat required by the houses for space heating was supplied by solar energy;
    • Consistent solar fractions above 90% over the last 5 years, with an average of 96% for the period 2012-2016;
    • High solar fraction of 92% even during the very cold winter of 2013-2014;
    • Continuous monitoring and improvements during the last 10 years, leading to system over performing solar fraction design estimates;
    • Very low electricity usage, with coefficient of performance above 30. This means that for every kWh of electricity, the system delivers more than 30 kWh of heat;
    • Throughout the years, the electricity used for pumps was reduced by energy efficiency measures and on-site solar PV generation was increased with the addition of 18 kW in 2011. The operation is now net-zero electricity for pumping power, which includes pumping through the solar collectors, district heating loop and borehole thermal energy storage (BTES);
    • Strong educational component with frequent site visits by professionals and students. The technology is currently being considered by several communities in Canada as well as internationally by China, United States and several European countries.

    DLSC Highlights

    • The largest subdivision of R-2000 single family homes in Canada, each 30% more efficient than conventionally built homes.
    • A first in the world, with over 90% of residential space heating needs being met by solar thermal energy.
    • A reduction of approximately 5 tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per home per year.
    • Won the 2011 World Energy Globe Award for Sustainability.

Historic Hotel in San Francisco, California Founded by the son of a Calfornia Gold Rush miner.

Historic Hotel in San Francisco, California Founded by the son of a Calfornia Gold Rush miner, the Marina Motel was built to celebrate the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in the late 1930’s. Designed as one of San Francisco’s first “motor-hotels” for the dawning of the automobile age, each room in this quaint Mediterranean-style motel has a private garage beneath the rooms, (courtyard garages are subject to size restrictions so guest are directed by the front desk to choose a garage that best fits their vehicle). Our 36 guestrooms and three suites are uniquely decorated with warm, stylish touches to make you feel at home. Our quaint courtyard, surrounded by colorful cascading flowers and a cobblestone driveway, offers a relaxing place to chat with friends. Flower boxes overflowing with fragrant blossoms adorn the windows adding European cottage charm. San Francisco’s top attractions are located within walking distance or a short bus ride from the Marina Motel The Marina Motel is still family-owned and operated today by the original owner’s granddaughter. For the past 70 years the Marina Motel has provided a beautiful and friendly place to stay while visiting San Francisco.

I always search for older motels/hotels that still have architectural charm and haven’t been renovated too much whenever possible. The Marina Motel is a quaint old fashioned motor hotel built in the 30s. The rooms have most of their original charm such as the tiled bathroom and old doors and windows that open. You drive into a courtyard and there are flowers everywhere, even little window boxes. Some units have kitchens. The office staff are friendly and helpful.
The bed was very comfortable and the bedding very soft. The room was clean. We had a microwave and decent sized fridge and coffee maker. I knew from experience that SF is very noisy at night and we like to sleep with the windows open and I meant to bring earplugs. I ended up forgetting them but didn’t need them, it was actually quiet and I slept very well. If you get one of the front rooms that face Lombard I’m sure it is a different story.
If you are one of those who love chain hotels and modern rooms then this is not for you. I like to wake up in a room and be able to tell where I am, which is not possible in chain hotels.

MarinaMotelSF, Manager at Marina Motel, responded to this review

Thank you for your review! We are glad that you pointed out the difference between us and the cookie cutter or corporate type places. Come back and see us again!

Charming stay, walk to the beach and harbor

What a great find! This small inn is welcoming and pleasant, with complimentary bottle of champagne, breakfast, daily afternoon wine and cheese reception, and cookies in the evening. Bicycles are available for guest use, which was a very popular choice around the waterfront area. The room was far more spacious than anticipated and well designed with many little extras. The bed is incredible! Hotel staff is exceptionally gracious, helpful, and professional, and the rooms, grounds, pool, and dining/reception areas are spotlessly clean and in good condition. Parking is free. The property is quiet and safe. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Wonderful Older Hotel

The hotel was well maintained and the staff was great. Every one of them were very helpful. When we were in the bathroom, we could hear noises from the room next door through the vent. It really wasn’t bad at all. Once we were in the bedroom we couldn’t hear those same noises. This is to be expected at least a little bit in an older hotel. As I mentioned above, it really wasn’t bad at all. The area is very quaint and it was easy to walk to local restaurants or just walk around and enjoy the scenery. We stayed because of an appointment at the Sansum Clinic. It was very easy to get to the clinic from this hotel as well.

Beautiful grounds, quiet, w a GREAT dining porch

This is a lovely, quiet, beautiful, restful hotel. The website doesn’t do it justice. Perched inland and up in the hills of Santa Barbara, the hotel has a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius – which means all of downtown SB, beaches, parks, the Mission and other sites. The efficient and welcoming staff hums around the campus and is present immediately when needed. The pool is lovely; the workout room is reasonably useful and the grounds and gardens are fabulous. But, the best feature is the terrace off the dining room where everyone wants to eat; guests and locals alike. The breakfast fruit and eggs bene were among the best we’ve ever had. It was chilly in the mornings this past June and the staff had the heaters cranking and the blankets handy which was a real treat since we really wanted to be outside. We found the salt encrusted meats at dinner time a bit too salty. The rooms were spacious and the staff very accommodating. It’s easy to see why El Encanto gets rated so highly – I wasn’t fully convinced until we stayed. We’ll go back for sure.

so much better than the big chain hotels

The Inn At East Beach is a retro expierence. Frank is hysterical, and so welcoming. The hotel is in a perfect location, walking distance to almost everything. Frank provides a beautiful breakfast that includes eggs, yogurt, fresh made granola and the most delicious pastries from a local bakery. Frank insists that you take more for a snack later. This was the best choice I’ve made in a while and I would highly recommend it.

Comfort and character, by the beach, good value.

Attractive, beautifully decorated, older and didn’t feel like a copy of a chain of hotels; we really enjoyed it. Good continental breakfast with nice fresh fruit. Good bed. The windows open which is great because Santa Barbara has fresh ocean air and a good climate. Very convenient location to the pier, restaurants, shopping. They’re having trouble upgrading TV system so no HBO, just regular cable; fortunately we didn’t care but that might be a big inconvenience for some; be sure and ask if it’s fixed. I highly recommend Eladio’s restaurant by the pier, about a block away, great food! The highway can be a little noisy but not a problem at night.

Location is great. Hotel is not.

For the price paid, this hotel was a disappointment. It was run down, old, and came complete with strange smells. They do a halfway decent job of trying to keep it up, but that doesn’t stop this hotel for showing its age. I think the best way to describe my experience is to say I felt like I was staying in a cheap Motel 6 that had been renamed. Now here’s the good part. This hotel is located right across the street from the beach, so if that’s what really matters to you, then you might overlook the condition of the rooms. It’s also within walking distance to restaurants and shops, so I’d rate this place very highly on location. Unfortunately for me, I was there for the wineries about 25 miles away, not necessarily for the beach. I would have gotten a hotel closer to the wineries, but I wanted to be near more restaurants and stores. Almost all of Santa Barbara’s small hotels are outrageously overpriced because it’s a touristy beach town near wine country, so despite what I’ve said above, this is about the best you’ll get (especially near the beach) for a reasonable price. I’d recommend this particular hotel to others only if they care much more about the location than they do about the condition of the hotel.
