Connecticut Bankruptcy

We just can’t seem to catch a break here in Connecticut. Last week, the United States Census Bureau announced that Connecticut was one of the few states to lose population. A few months ago, General Electric (a really big company with lots of employees) began the move of its headquarters out of Connecticut to the Boston area. And now, statistics show that Connecticut now places 8th in the country for new foreclosure filings in 2016.

In a recent interview with the Waterbury Republican American newspaper, Gene Melchionne was asked what he thought was the case of these increased foreclosure filings. The answer is simple. To make a mortgage payment, you need to have a job that pays. To live in Connecticut, you need to have a job that pays well. Sometimes you need two or three of these jobs.

It is not cheap to live in this state. To hold on to what you have here, you need to make more than the average American. While Connecticut regularly trades places with New Jersey as one of the highest average income states in the U.S, that average is skewed by some really, really wealthy people who live here. Unfortunately, that does not help he average guys who’re my clients.

With the end of the Federal programs on mortgage modification and the lowering standard of living here in Connecticut you may need help. If you re facing financial stress and the possibility of foreclosure, there are still some avenues to treat the problems. Don’t wait too long to see help. My contact information is right here.

The web is filled with legal self-help services that claim to make filing for bankruptcy seem like a relatively simple procedure that anyone can do. However, while you may be able to find and submit the forms, having a bankruptcy lawyer guide you through the process is the best way to ensure that you get the debt relief you’re after.
Here are a few reasons why seeking out the services of a professional is the best thing to do when you are considering filing for bankruptcy.

  • Legal Expertise: Document preparation services and online tools can type up your petition, but that is as far as they can legally take you. These services cannot provide you with the legal advice you need to successfully file for bankruptcy. A bankruptcy lawyer will go through every aspect of your financial situation with you, helping you to avoid the mistakes that could result in losing valuable property or creditors filing a claim against you.

  • Guidance In Filling Out Forms: Bankruptcy forms and paperwork can be incredibly complicated. They will require information that you don’t have on hand or can’t easily access. Even minor filing mistakes will expose you to liability, or cause your petition to be rejected outright. A bankruptcy lawyer is trained to prepare your petition so that it’s both completely error-free and has the highest chance of being successful.

  • An Understanding Of The Issues: The issues raised during the bankruptcy process cross over into all areas of the law, such as taxes, inheritances, and personal injury claims. Determining how your petition will impact every area of your life requires the expertise of an experienced bankruptcy lawyer. Most consumers do not possess the legal skills or knowledge to navigate such delicate financial matters.

  • Proper Timing: While you may want immediate relief from your debts, it’s important to time the filing of your case correctly so that you can maximize your benefits . If you file too late, you could miss your chance to recover some assets lost to repossession or garnishment. On the other hand, rushing to file the case could cause you to lose assets you could have saved for financial support, such as an inheritance or a tax refund.

For over 35 years, I have provided compassionate services to clients dealing with even the most complex financial issues. I understand how confusing and intimidating the bankruptcy process can be, which is why I am committed to guiding my clients every step of the way. Call (203) 757-3437 to schedule a consultation with a real bankruptcy lawyer today.

◆ Proper Foreclosure Procedures Were Not Followed

A lender seeking to foreclosure a home has to follow strict foreclosure procedures set by the Connecticut Supreme Court. If these procedures and steps are not followed, the borrower can challenge the foreclosure. If the problem is serious, the case can be dismissed and the lender forced to start the foreclosure over. Connecticut does have a rule that absent some fraud or mistake, once the foreclosure is completed, it is done aunt here inso going back.

◆ You Are An Active Member Of The Military

If you are an active member of the military serving our country, no foreclosure can proceed. The lender has to certify to the Court that they have investigated whether or not you are an active service member before they re allowed to obtain a judgment of foreclosure. Military members can utilize the protections afforded by the ServiceMembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). which offers assistance to members of the military facing foreclosure.

◆ Mortgage Terms Are Deemed To Be Unconscionable

Unconscionable mortgage terms presents a rarer defense to foreclosure. The mortgage’s terms may be unfair or illegal. If you were not represented by a lawyer or otherwise unable to make an informed decision about the mortgage loan, a court could refuse to enforce the mortgage at all.

◆ The Best Defense Is A Good Offense

Connecticut, like many states, has a mediation procedure that offers homeowners a chance at working out the mortgage problems. If requested, the Court will refer the case to an impartial mediator who will facilitate communication between the parties to see what resolution can be made. Solutions include a temporary or permanent reduction in the interest rate, an extension of the life of the loan or a temporary forbearance in the payments. There are also several government programs available, but they are not expected to last after the end of the year.

You can find a bunch of information on the internet about filing for bankruptcy, but what happens afterwards?

Here are three things that you can expect:

  • Debts are discharged – For consumers, the best part of filing for bankruptcy is the elimination of your debt without giving anything up. The Bankruptcy Trustee may try to take your property to pay back your creditors, but a skilled bankruptcy lawyer can help you keep it without losing anything.

  • Creditor Go Away, Don’t Come Back Any Day: There are several types of bankruptcy for consumers and they all offer an automatic stay . which immediaty stops any attempts to collect. This is true for civil judgments that may have already entered bu also for phone calls and collection letters, wage garnishments, repossessions and most kinds of court actions.

  • A Fresh Start: IMost people believe that filing for bankruptcy will have an effect on their credit score. The Credit Score is the great marketing gimmick of the credit industry and it does not matter much . Many consumers can rebuild their credit immediately, but the secret is to avoid getting back into debt. Planning for the future is more important than having that shiny new thing. It is more important to have only a few current credit accounts that can rebuild your credit.

A study by the Federal Reserve found that when dealing with debt, it wasbetter to file bankruptcy than struggle monthly to pay off debt.

Attorney Melchionne was a featured speaker at the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys in San Francisco on May 20 – 22, 2016. During the Convention in, Attorney Melchionne met with colleagues from around the country to share ideas and new developments in Bankruptcy Law, Foreclosure Defense, Credit and Student Loan forgiveness. In his role on the Board of Directors for NACBa, he also helped plan the three days of seminars and spoke at several of the sessions.

Auto Insurance Product Information

Auto insurance is one of the most frequently used types of personal insurance. In fact, states require that you purchase some kind of insurance coverage in order to drive legally.

There are two basic components to auto insurance coverage: liability and property damage. Lets start with liability

Most auto insurance policies cover your liability for bodily injury, property damage and uninsured/under-insured motorists

Bodily injury liability insurance protects you against the claims of other people who are injured in an accident for which you were at fault. Their claims for bodily injury may include medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Property damage liability insurance pays for any damage you cause to the property of others. This includes not only damages to other vehicles, but also other property such as walls, fences and equipment.

Uninsured motorists coverage protects you, the policyholder, in the event that you are injured by a hit-and-run driver or a driver who does not have auto insurance.

Connecticut requires that drivers carry $20,000 per person and $40,000 per accident for bodily injury liability and $10,000 per accident for property damage liability, but drivers are strongly urged to consider higher limits. Insurance companies are required to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) whenever insurance coverage is “cancelled,”.
More Information on Automobile Coverage

Moving on to p roperty damage coverage it may include both collision coverage and comprehensive coverage. Collision coverage pays for physical damage to your car as the result of your auto colliding with an object, such as a tree or another car. This coverage is optional and not required by law. However, collision insurance may be required by your lending institution or lessor.

In the case of an accident involving an older car, the cost of repairing the car can quickly exceed the worth of the car. In this case, insurers will total the car and pay you what the car was worth based on its current book value rather than fixing it.

Comprehensive coverage pays for damage to your auto from almost all other causes, including fire, severe weather, vandalism, floods and theft. You are not required by law to carry comprehensive coverage

Your auto insurance premiums are affected by a number of factors:

For starters, theyre linked to the type of vehicle driven. If youre buying or leasing a new car, check the insurance rates before you make your final choice. For example, SUVs, convertibles and performance vehicles typically cost more to insure than some other cars.

Safety devices on your car can help reduce your premiums. If youre buying or leasing a new car, consider getting one with anti-lock brakes, side air bags, automatic seat belts and daytime running lights.

Anti-theft devices on your car, such as an alarm system and global positioning system so that your car can be located if stolen can help reduce your premiums.

Where you park your car can also impact insurance costs. If you have access to an indoor garage or locked parking lot places that decrease the likelihood that your car will be stolen you may qualify for lower premiums.

The geographic region in which you live may impact your premiums. For example, areas prone to extreme weather hail, wind storms, hurricanes, etc. higher traffic patterns or higher risk of theft may have higher insurance rates. If you live in an area prone to extreme weather, check whether your policy includes comprehensive coverage on your car to cover potential damage from storms.

Your driving record tickets, accidents, DWIs Driving While Intoxicated citations directly affect your premiums.

And remember, its important to maintain a good credit history because many insurance companies use credit in determining how much they will charge you for insurance.

The number of claims you have previously filed impacts your insurance costs. You may want to consider not filing claims for smaller events to avoid premium increases.

Finally, the cost of your insurance is directly linked to your policys deductible amount. The deductible is the amount of money that you agree to pay as part of a claim, before your insurer pays the remaining amount towards that claim. For example, if your vehicle incurred $1,000 of damage in an accident and your deductible was $250, you would pay the first $250 and your insurer would pay the remaining $750. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium.

Alcohol and Kidney Stones

Kidney Stones are a Common Problem

Kidney stones have plagued humans since the dawn of time. Archeologists have even found evidence of kidney stones in a mummy that is 7,000 years old. In most cases, these stones will pass out of the body without causing too many problems. Occasionally, they will lead to discomfort and potentially serious complications. Drinking alcohol is not believed to directly cause kidney stones, but it may make the situation worse. Moderate consumption of alcohol may reduce the risk of kidney stone formation.

Importance of the Kidneys

The kidneys can be found at the back of the abdomen. They are usually four inches in length and can be found on either side of the spine. These kidney-bean shaped organs have the important function of removing waste products from the blood. If this waste is not removed, the individual will become ill and eventually die. The kidneys also serve the vital function of removing excess water from the body in the form of urine.

Kidney Stones Explained

A kidney stone refers to a solid material that can form in this organ. It is a stone-like lump. It is also sometimes referred to as a renal calculus or nephrolithiasis. These stones can appear in one or both kidneys. The material for the stones comes from the waste that this organ is tasked with removing from the body. This waste can begin to accumulate as crystals that can eventually turn into stones.

These are the four major types of kidney stones:

* A uric acid stone develops when urine is too acidic. This can happen if people eat too much meat.
* Calcium stones are the most common. People need to have calcium in their diet, but too much leads to accumulation in the kidneys and the formation of stones.
* Cystine stones are made up from a chemical that is used by muscle and nerves. Some individuals seem to have inherited a predisposition to forming this rare type of stone.
* A struvite stone can occur after people have had an infection. This type of stone is made up of ammonia and magnesium.

Causes of Kidney Stones

There are several factors that increase the risk for solid accumulations in the kidney. These are some of the most common:

* A high-protein, low-fiber diet
* Genetic predisposition to forming kidney stones
* An overactive parathyroid gland, which increases the risk of developing calcium stones
* Being a man aged between the age of 30 to 40
* Suffering from a disease or conditions affecting the small intestine
* A history of developing kidney stones
* Leading a sedentary lifestyle
* Contracting a kidney infection
* Suffering from certain kinds of cancer
* Undergoing chemotherapy
* Suffering from gout. which affects the body’s ability to effectively break down chemicals
* Having only one kidney
* Frequently taking antacids and aspirin seem

Symptoms of Kidney Stones

These are some of the symptoms that people experience when they have kidney stones:

* There can be blood in the urine caused by the stone scratching tissue as it passes out of the body.
* The urine can also look a bit cloudy or have an unpleasant smell.
* The person may experience pain or discomfort when passing a kidney stone. If people have extreme pain at their back or sides, they may need to seek medical attention.
* The individual may experience fever and chills.
* There may be a burning sensation when urinating
* The person may experience nausea and vomiting.
* There may be a need to urinate more frequently.
* Feelings restless may set in.

Renal Colic

Renal colic occurs when a kidney stone begins to block the renal tract. The symptoms of this can include:

* Painful urination
* The need to urinate frequently
* Nausea and vomiting

Sometimes renal colic can lead to a kidney infection. The individual may then develop a high fever and generally appear unwell.

Alcohol and Kidneys Stones

Excessive alcohol intake does not directly cause kidney stones, but it can certainly exacerbate the problem. The reason for this is that alcohol acts as a diuretic. This means that it causes people to pass so much urine that they can become dehydrated. Alcohol also interferes with the body’s ability to excrete uric acid. Conversely, some studies suggest that moderate intake of beer and wine can offer some protection against stone formation. It is not recommended that people should consume alcohol in the hope of preventing these stones. This is particular important if people have ever had any problems with alcohol in the past .

Treatment of Kidney Stones

In most instances, people will not require medical assistance for their kidneys stone. People can pass a small stone without even noticing any symptoms. In fact, most stones pass out of the body without any help. It is only when these stones are difficult to pass that the individual will usually seek help from a doctor. These are some of the available treatments for kidney stones:

* Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is an effective treatment for large kidney stones. It involves using shock waves that pass through the body and break up the stone.
* Ureterorenoscopy may be required if a stone becomes trapped in the urinary tract. It involves passing a thin instrument called an ureteroscope through the urinary tract and using this to remove the stone.
* Sometimes it will be necessary to perform surgery. A cut will be made in the back of the individual so that the surgeon can pass an instrument through to the kidney and remove the stone. This type of treatment may be used for particular large stones or when dealing with an individual who is particularly obese.

How to Avoid Kidney Stones

These are some of the things that people can do to avoid kidney stones :

* Drink plenty of water, as this will help flush away the material that makes up the stone.
* Drink alcohol only in moderation
* Some kidneys stones occur as a result of poor diet. This indicates a need to change eating habits in order to prevent a reoccurrence. The exact dietary changes needed will depend on the type of stone. With this in mind, it is advisable to save a stone a stone that has been passed and show it to a physician. This will make it easier to determine the cause of the stone.

RA and Lung Disease: What You Need to Know

Besides the joints, the inflammatory process that underlies rheumatoid arthritis (RA) also affects other parts of the body, including lungs, skin, eyes, digestive system, heart and blood vessels. RA-related lung complications are the most common extra-articular ( outside of the joints ) manifestations of RA and include pulmonary nodules (small growths in the lungs); pleural effusion (a buildup of fluid between the lung and chest wall); bronchiectasis (damage to the airways); and interstitial lung disease (ILD).

In fact, it is estimated that 1 in 10 people with rheumatoid arthritis will develop ILD over the course of their disease, making it as deadly among people with RA as congestive heart failure.

What Is Interstitial Lung Disease?

Interstitial lung disease refers to a group of disorders characterized by inflammation and scarring of the lung tissue. In the case of RA-associated ILD, the scarring is caused when the over-active immune system attacks the lungs. When the scarring builds up over time, breathing becomes difficult, and patients may need lung transplants to regain function.

Risk Factors for Interstitial Lung Disease

The risk of developing lung disease is eight times higher in people with RA than in the general population. However, most people with RA are not affected. Risk factors for ILD include:

  • Smoking. People with RA who smoke are more likely to develop ILD.

Higher RA disease activity. High levels of rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptides (antiCCP) antibodies substances that are indicative of more active disease increase the risk for development of ILD.

Older age at diagnosis. People who are diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis after age 60 are more likely to develop ILD.

Male Gender. Men with RA have a two-to-three times higher risk of developing ILD than women.

Treatment with methotrexate and other DMARDs. Several DMARDs, including methotrexate, leflunomide and azathioprine, as well as biologics, particularly tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors, have been associated with RA-ILD, according to a literature review published in the April 2014 issue of Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism. But Dr. Teng Moua, a pulmonologist specializing in ILD at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. says the risk of methotrexate-induced lung injury is less than 1 percent and is reversible once the drug is stopped. According to Dr. Moua, the benefits of methotrexate far outweigh its risks. However, methotrexate is not recommended for people with existing ILD or RA-ILD by the American College of Rheumatology in their 2012 guidelines.

Diagnosis of Interstitial Lung Disease

It is challenging to catch ILD early because it doesn t cause any specific symptoms. Once shortness of breath and dry cough develop, the disease has probably already progressed.

The diagnostic process includes a comprehensive clinical exam, X-rays and lung function tests. If there are risk factors for ILD or abnormal X-ray findings, your doctor will likely perform a high resolution CT.

Treatment of Interstitial Lung Disease

Interstitial lung disease is hard to treat and has a high mortality rate. According to a 2010 study published in the journal Arthritis Rheumatism. once ILD was diagnosed, the average survival in patients with RA was 2.6 years.

People diagnosed with ILD in its early stages can be helped with medication such as corticosteroids and immunosuppressants and put on the waiting list for a lung transplant sooner. However, these treatments don t work for everyone. The best approach is to treat the underlying RA, although ILD may get worse despite well controlled arthritis.

Future Direction in Interstitial Lung Disease

Researchers say an important task for the medical community is to understand the mechanisms behind the development of ILD in people with RA. More detailed knowledge of these processes may one day open doors to better treatments.

Also needed are comprehensive guidelines for screening and diagnosing ILD in at-risk patients so they can be found and treated earlier.

How Can You Protect Your Lungs?

Don t smoke. Get flu and pneumonia vaccines (but always check with your doctor before getting any vaccinations). If you re taking immunosuppressant medications for your RA, you may be at a higher risk for illnesses like the flu and pneumonia, which may cause further lung-related complications. Have regular check-ups, so your doctor can monitor your lungs regularly. Tell your doctor if you have shortness of breath or dry cough right away.

Law Offices of William J #accident #lawyer #ct

Welcome

My name is William J. Hennessey. I was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut and, as an attorney with more than 26 years of experience, I know the court systems and legal procedures extremely well. Although I practice law primarily in Bridgeport, Stratford, Fairfield, Trumbull, Norwalk, Stamford and other areas of Fairfield County, I have successfully represented clients throughout the state of Connecticut including Hartford, New Haven, New London, and Litchfield Counties.

In the event of a major car accident, drivers, passengers and even pedestrians or by-standers may suffer severe injuries which require immediate medical attention. In such cases, medical treatment should be sought quickly by calling the 911 emergency response phone number. Once medical treatment has been received, it makes good sense to contact an experienced lawyer to represent you in any legal matter regarding the negligence of the driver/operator of the vehicle you were in or the other vehicle/s involved in the accident.

In minor car accidents or fender benders , it is very common to feel the damaging physical effects to one s body in the days that follow. Sometimes, the pain and suffering only gets worse and worse as time goes on.

Even if you believe you feel ok after being involved in car accident, it is still wise to take a few moments to seek medical attention just to be sure there are no hidden injuries.

At The Law offices of William J. Hennessey, we are available to assist you twenty four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. If you (or someone you know) have been involved in an auto accident, call Attorney William J. Hennessey toll free today at 1-866-527-5393 for an immediate consultation.

Invoice Factoring -an advance on money due to you from a business

Invoice Factoring

Its what your looking for

What is factoring:

Invoice factoring is essentially an advance on money / cash due to a business, by means of the sale of the invoices to a bridging company. This is not a loan against invoices but an outright sale of selected invoices ( one or many ) or the full debtors book, to a bridging finance company, but with recourse to the seller of the full invoice value.

Why use single invoice factoring or selective invoice discounting

This is a very simple and reasonably quick method (within 2 weeks of receipt of all documents) used by businesses to improve cash flow or working capital as and when needed. There is no lock in period and no penalty for early settlement. You elect to bridge one or a few invoices not the entire debtors book.

Costs Once

Once off set up fee of approx 3 % to 5 % depending on the size of the invoice bridging required. Monthly cost of between 4,5 % and 6 %

Pre-Conditions to Discount Invoices:
The goods /services must have been delivered / rendered and the customer must have accepted the goods / services with no pending disputes. The company requesting the bridging should be profitable and have a clean credit record.

We use this Mass eMailing system.

Example: There are a few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and planned that it is nothing short of genius. Last night, I had one of those meals – the Mahi Mahi.

The dish was excellently prepared. Grilled, juicy, and fresh without a hint of fishiness. A glaze of tangerine sauce brought a hint of tart sweetness. The fish was placed on a mound of sweet plantain rice. The combination of the fish and rice alone was to die for!

However, as only expert chefs can achieve, additional garnishes provided even bolder, beautiful tastes. Pickled onions topping the fish made for an even finer taste experience, while green beans hidden under the fish added freshness and completed each bite

Connecticut Hospice

Hospice lets alot of things go un noticed and does not investigatew complaints that are brought to their attention as well. A friend of mine was admitted to hospice and complained severeal times of being mistreated by a male cna by the name of Chris. He also said Chris had been touching him inappropiately as well. When I brought this to the directers attention, it was said there would be an investigation. To this day Chris is still working there and has had other complaints against him for the same things. I guess it goes to show that the length of service you provide outweighs any complaints that are filed against you and you can still keep your job for your length of service. Where are the patients rights? Why were these complaints never investigated? We pay for our families and friends to stay in these places, yet they are mistreated, touched inappropiately and who knows what else goes on in these places since there are so many cover ups taking place. I hope nobody else has experienced this while there as it is disgusting and degrading to even imagine a loved one who has to endure this as well as their end of life care.

  • My Families experience was not good

My experience with Hospice was very poor. Hospice made a mistake by putting my father in Hospice. They never spoke to my father’s physician about my father’s health condition. The Hospice Doctor signed my father as terminal, we were never told my father was terminal. My father drove the car into Hospice and walked in.I have had several meetings with CT Hospice. They had an internal investigation about what happen. Hopefully know one will ever go through what my family did.Hospice said they don’t know how he was admitted. Hospice would not listen to my family. My father had just had a check up about a week before and his blood work was still in the normal range. If the Hospice nurse hadn’t told me they use medication as a restraints. I would have never taken him out of Hospice. Hospice told my family we were in denial and he would be dead very soon. It has now been 6 months since my father got out of Hospice. My father is home with my mother. He said quot;he will never go to Hospice again or have their home nurses come to his house. quot; It’s very sad when it comes time for when he does need Hospice, I don’t know what were going to do. I believe that Hospice does shorten a person’s life. I agree that a person at the end of life needs Hospice. Hospice has no right to end someones life as they tried to do with my father.
