Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

You became an advanced practice nurse to make a difference in people’s lives. Take that certification a step further and work to make changes in policy and practice by earning your Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Texas Woman’s University’s DNP program is for advanced practice nurses ready to function as expert clinicians integrating and evaluating evidence-based practices in acute and primary care settings.

With a curriculum based on enhanced clinical practice, health care informatics, and the application of scientific advances in nursing, the DNP program will prepare graduates to meet the demands of our nation’s complex health care system and aging population.

Admission Requirements

In order to be admitted into the program, applicants must be licensed and certified by an accredited program as an advanced practice nurse (NP, CRNA, CNM, CNS). Additional requirements for program admission can be found in the course catalog .

Program Requirements

The DNP program is a hybrid curriculum with both online and classroom work and requires 46 hours to complete. In addition, 500 contact hours are required in the candidate’s selected area of clinical expertise as well as completion of a capstone project. Apply for Admission

Candidates for admission to the Nursing Health Systems Management program are required to meet the general requirements for graduate admission and provide proof of professional liability insurance and licensure.
