Question #1: We have 4.16kV feeder. What Glow Tubes should we use?

Answer: You have to install R 05010001 Glow Tubes. These are the only ones that will operate and lit properly on 4.16kV line to line voltage.

Question #2: Our switchgear is on 13.2kV. Shall we use R or RS style Glow Tubes on outgoing feeder cables?

Answer: Either will work since R 05010001 Glow Tubes operate on 4kV+ line to line voltage and RS 05010002 Glow Tubes operate on 10kV+ line to line voltage. However, since RS 05010002 Glow Tubes have distinctive spiral light we will recommend it. Please refer to photo below.

Question #3: Our switchgear is 50 years old. Our Glow Tubes are hold by lousy pieces of bent metal. What is your suggestion?

Answer: Please replace existing old holders with our SPRING CHARGED mounting brackets p/n 05010090.

A penetration test is done to evaluate the security of a computer system or network by simulating an attack by a malicious user / hacker. The process involves active exploitation of security vulnerabilities that may be present due to poor or improper system configuration, known and / or unknown hardware or software flaws, or operational weaknesses in process or design.

    Open ModelSphere –
Free Software Tool for Conceptual and Relational Data Modeling,
Business Process Modeling and UML Modeling

Open ModelSphere is a powerful free data, process and UML modeling tool / software. Open ModelSphere covers conceptual and logical data modeling as well as physical design, i.e. database modeling (database modelling). It supports several notations, e.g. Entity-Relationship, DATARUN and Information Engineering. Conceptual models can be converted to relational models and vice versa.

Thanks to its reverse engineering capabilities, Open ModelSphere allows graphical visualization of your relational database’s architecture, thus making modifications easy. As a complete data modeling tool / software, it allows the generation of SQL scripts from your model as well. Open ModelSphere supports all the database management systems in a generic manner. A standard built-in interface connects to SQL databases via ODBC/JDBC driver.

Open ModelSphere also includes expert modules to validate the integrity of your architecture and the coherence of what you established (meeting the requirements of each DBMS). This validation expertise will help you save research time among the multitude of restrictions that exists in each management system.

Open ModelSphere also helps systems analysts to integrate the creation of data flow and business process diagrams and to elaborate an enterprise’s workflow and logistics. You can specify resources, transactions, communicational exchanges, cost calculated in time, money and effort, etc. Open ModelSphere is not restricted to business process modeling, but also allows you to set up the technical design at the application system level.

Open ModelSphere supports you to schematize the various processes’ details in a hierarchical manner, thus enabling you to decompose a process in subprocesses. This way, it is easy to keep an overview, while having access to a very detailed view of the processes. When setting the data flow diagram, it becomes easier to design a relational database that meets the company’s needs, hence avoiding loss of time and money.

Last, but not least – Open ModelSphere provides the functionality of a rich UML modeling tool / software. You can create Activity, Class, Collaboration, Component, Deployment, Package, Sequence, Statechart and Use Case diagrams.

With respect to the coexistence of relational and object-oriented approaches, class models can be linked to data models. Moreover, class models can be generated from data models and vice versa.

Online Environmental Engineering Bachelors Degree Programs

    Essential Information

Due to the hands-on nature of the field of environmental engineering, fully online programs are rare. While students can complete some of the courses online, the lab component of the program is typically required to be completed on campus; however, this can be done during the summer semester. Students may also be required to complete proctored exams. Additionally, since professional engineering licensure is recommended for environmental engineers, students will want to look for online programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

To become licensed as a professional engineer, ABET-accredited bachelor’s holders must pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, complete relevant work experience (typically about four years) and pass the Professional Engineering exam. To maintain licensure, environmental engineers must complete continuing education requirements.

Find schools that offer these popular programs

    • Energy Management Technologies
    • Environmental Engineering Technologies
    • Environmental Health Engineering
    • Hazardous Materials and Waste Mgmt. Technologies
    • Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration

    Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering

Students enrolled in undergraduate environmental engineering programs learn how to apply engineering strategies to manage environmental resources, such as water, air, land and soil. Such programs focus strongly on the sciences, with students delving deeply into chemistry, physics and biology. Students may also learn concepts in waste management, urban planning and pollution control. Graduates learn to interpret data related to environmental engineering, as well as to design and conduct their own experiments.

    Program Information and Requirements

Online bachelor’s degree programs in environmental engineering typically take 4-6 years to complete. Because undergraduate engineering classes often require lab components, few environmental engineering programs are offered completely online. Some programs may offer all classroom component courses online, and only require students to attend on-campus lab component courses.

List of Common Environmental Engineering Courses

Environmental engineering courses teach students engineering design and how to use computer-aided design programs, such as AutoCAD, to communicate ideas. Students also receive a strong background in physics and analytical skills.

    Statistics

Students learn the basics of statistics and probability. They learn to recognize and interpret correlations, test hypotheses and apply probability distribution functions.

    Civil Engineering

Students typically learn the history, basic concepts and important developments of civil engineering. They may apply this knowledge by coming up with their own designs and communicating their ideas through computer software applications.

    Statics

This mechanics course teaches students how forces interact with static objects. Students learn how to solve equilibrium equations, how to analyze and create their own free body diagrams and how to apply the concepts of statics to engineering.

    Dynamics

This mechanics course focuses on moving bodies and how forces interact with these bodies. Students use calculus to analyze motion and apply their findings to real-life engineering situations.

    Transportation Engineering

This course teaches students how to analyze and design transportation systems. Topics covered include pavement design, traffic forecasting and transportation planning. Mathematical models are used in the analysis and improvement of transportation systems.

    Career Information

A four-year degree in environmental engineering prepares graduates to take on most entry-level jobs in environmental engineering. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS, www.bls.gov ) expected environmental engineering jobs to increase about 12% during the 2014-2024 decade. Per the BLS, the average environmental engineering salary was $88,040 in 2015.

    Continuing Education Information

Students who wish to pursue higher education in environmental engineering after earning their bachelor’s degree may decide to enroll in a graduate certificate program, or in a master’s degree program. Unlike bachelor’s degree programs, some graduate programs in environmental engineering are offered fully online. Students who choose to enroll in a certificate program may later be able to apply those courses toward earning a master’s degree.

Fully online bachelor’s degree programs in environmental engineering are rare, but are more common in a hybrid format with an on-campus lab component as students study topics like dynamics, civil engineering and statistics. Graduates of these programs can work in entry-level positions in environmental engineering, or may choose to pursue a graduate degree or certificate.

01 Sep 2016 – by Barry Dobson When you’re building out a new API or service, it’s sometimes difficult to know exactly what sort of server you’re going to need to run it on. You probably have a rough idea of what your MVP is, but you don’t really know what features you Read More.

25 May 2016 – by Simon Dutton A deliberately provocative title, so I should probably clarify what I mean. This isn’t a blog-post about monitoring being bad and that we should throw away all our dashboards in search of some un-monitored nirvana. What I mean by ‘you should monitor nothing’ is that you should monitor ‘nothing’ i. Read More.

05 May 2016 – by Steve Elliott Scaling Logstash with Docker (Part 3) Previously On… In our last post, we had a fully automated pipeline, with 3 hosts hosting multiple docker logstash containers each, and scaling manually via docker-compose. This was quite a nice set up, and it worked well, but it’s difficult to scale it Read More.

Its the annual coming together of the ‘ELK’ Elastic Stack users to share their experiences and even grab the stack developers to ask, “how can I do x”? It was great hearing the various challenges and Read More.

19 Feb 2016 – by Steve Elliott Elasticsearch as a Time Series Database – Part 2 – Getting Stats In Rather some time ago, I posed a question: is using Elasticsearch as a Time Series Database possible, I even had reasons! Since then, I’ve been hard at work attempting to answer that question, in this post Read More.

12 Feb 2016 – by Simon Dutton A number of years ago Laterooms.com used to have a webcam looking out, from the 11th floor of our office, across Sunny Manchester. It has long since fallen out of use but recently some of the devs found links to the old page that displayed the webcam stream. A Read More.
