Very nice hotel in a superb location. From the time we walked in we were greeted with very polite staff who couldn’t do do enough for us. We took two teenage boys and the rooms were more than spacious for us. They offered free WIFI and when there was a problem with my son not being able to connect there was a helpline that helped him resolve the problem. There were a few of downsides. TVs in the rooms could do with being a bit bigger and in the family room there wasn’t enough plug sockets to accommodate phone charging needs. A touch of paint here and there would be good. These are very small downsides. Would I stop again? Definitely and also recommend it to anyone.

My third visit in this hotel. When you book make it directly through their web-page so you can get the English breakfast included and if you stay more than one night you can get free three course meal. The price is a bit high compared to the value, but that is normal in London. Rooms are tidy but worn. The double bed we has was really small for two normal sized, so it is better to have twin room. Since my last visit they have wifi-covereage in the rooms and that is good.

So all went well. Checked into this place on a last minute booking and paid my £119 (approx €144). The machine went a bit crazy and appeared to reset itself but the transaction was completed by the banks so no problem.
Next morning there became a problem in the photo attached. I was asked for my card and despite being reassured I would not be charged again I was. Explained this to the lady (am unable to use the true descriptive on here) who promptly told me I was not charged at check in although my statement says I was, would not pass me to a manager despite my request and used the exact words this is the last Tavistock hotel you will ever stop in whilst grudgingly voiding the wrongly charged transaction. Attached you will see the girl who wiped a couple of stars from my opinion of the place. If you stay there pay cash, get the receipt on check in and avoid the attached at all costs. Official complaint will be prepared against the hotel with her cited as the primary cause.

Lovely hotel great lication

We stayed in this hotel for a week. All staff is very polite and helpful. We had some issue with water (pipe above us was broken), so the apologized, moved us to another room and invited us for very nice dinner in their nice restaurant for free. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. wifi connection could have. More

Moritz H, Guest Relations Manager at The Bloomsbury, responded to this review

Dear Jin J, I am sorry you had to go through the room move, however I appreciate your understanding and I am happy it did not trouble your stay too much. Our Dalloway Terrace really is a charming place for a dinner, same as our Bloomsbury Club Bar is for drinks. I look forward to welcome you back or introduce. More

Thank you Joe M, I am so glad you and your girlfriend had such an amazing stay with us and you enjoyed like it seems every second of it. Our location is indeed a superb spot in the middle of everything and jet quiet in a smaller street so you can relax on our Dalloway Terrace. I do look forward. More

The hotel is very close to everything you want to see and visit. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops in the area. Walking distance to most tourist attractions. Nice atmosphere in the Hotel Bloomsbury and very good drinks. The dining room could have been a little bit bigger and airier but the bar was very cosy.

We stayed for 4 nights in July at this very elegant Boutique Hotel in London. located near the British Museum. The rooms while not overly large are extremely comfortable and well appointed with good sized bathrooms, ours had a shower. The Bloomsbury Hotel is a bit like a step back in time, with its Georgian Facade and lavish Art Deco. More

Dear raekilk, It was a pure pleasure to read your amazing feedback, I can`t thank you enough. I am delighted that you experienced great luxury in our hotel and you enjoyed our style. I only stayed for one night on a business trip with colleagues but we all had lovely rooms, clean, comfortable, right temperature and we had a quick check in and no fuss from the staff. It s a great location easy for Euston and the sights in this area.

I stayed here for just over a week for work in the area. The Hotel is located just off of junction 9 on the M20 and is easy to find.

The Hotel check in is fast and friendly. The car parking is more than adequate for the hotel an always has plenty of spaces.

The rooms are really nicely decorated an the atmosphere is relaxing, the beds are huge for doubles and so nice to sleep on. The bathroom is equally nicely set out and the shower is really powerful which is great.

The food is of a high standard both the breakfast and the food served in the restaurant and bar at night, the breakfast is an buffet style of both traditional English and Continental with Meats and Cheeses, Fresh Bread rolls, Pastries, Cereals and Fruit juice’s. The English breakfast has the usual Bacon, Beans, Eggs either Fried or Scrambled, Mushrooms, Hash Browns Sausages with either a fresh pot of Tea or Coffee.

The evening Menu for the restaurant and bar are very well thought out, I must have tried almost every meal. The food is cooked and presented to a very high standard and quality. An all can be washed down with a good drink from the bar of what ever you like.

I did use the room service whilst I was there a few nights, I only ordered sandwiches and a desert. All was presented well and it all tasted great. The room service does come with a £4 tray charge but for the quality of the food I think is a reasonable charge. The food was delivered to my room really promptly an the staff members were always happy an sorted any issues out very quickly.

All that said I would highly recommend The Ashford International Hotel to anyone either heading to the continent or coming into the UK for a visit.

Hotel is in a great location. Quiet street but plenty of restaurants within a couple of blocks. Metro (Bayswater Station) buses very close by. Staff very helpful pleasant. Our room, with a double bed was small, as per most European ones but large enough to leave luggage out open. Quite modern comfortable. Bathroom small but again very pristine. Room had all amenities needed: hair dryer, safe, tea kettle. plenty of lights small flat screen. We had a room with garden view. Very pleasant. Found it quiet and comfortable. WiFi was very good in our 1store floor room. We were very happy with our choice.

Good Price, Good Location

Good room for a decent price, with excellent Underground access. The staff were a bit weird and not super competent but it was easy to overlook. The room was small but clean and the bed was comfy. Lots of restaurants nearby and very close to Paddington Station.

A hotel imbalance; average room but poor service

This hotel ticks the main boxes. good location (close to bay water subway), clean, and comfortable.

However, the room is small; the bathroom is very small (you feel like you are hugging the sink whilst sat on the toilet) and I had to step out into the main room to brush my teeth as the small space makes you feel claustrophobic.

We checked in late as a couple and had booked a twin room. We asked whether a double was available. This was checked and it was however, the staff member refused to provide this to us; instead insisting that we would need to pay to upgrade the room should we wish to have the double bed (even though it was clear a room was available and would not be allocated that night given it was so late that we checked in). We therefore decided to stick with the twin bed. This hotel does not know how to do business; any other hotel would have provided us with the double without a further charge and we would have noted this to stay with them in the future. Surely changing one bed of sheets is less time-consuming than changing two single beds?

We are disappointed to note that we received racist remarks from staff on our way out of the hotel from the cleaners and the staff on reception automatically assumed we were overseas guests because we did are not caucasian. This should be a question asked of guests and not automatically assumed (as overseas guests are required to provide further ID documentation upon check-in).

To sum up, the hotel itself is good but the service is simply not up to scratch.

Not able to comply with Romanian Tax Authorities Requirements

    Christian W (11 reviews)

    Ascot, United Kingdom

I have just started my new position as Managing Director in a Romanian Subsidiary of my company. The authorities require to have a form stamped and signed by the hotel. When I kindly and polite asked for getting this done, even the Manager on duty objected to do so. My conclusion is, if you have the need to meet the Romanian Tax authorities requirements you can not stay in this hotel. Too bad! In addition there was a permanent strange noise. The WIFI is charged extra! The room is small but new furbished.

    Surrey, United Kingdom

I took my boyfriend there for the spa for his birthday, looking at the reviews it seemed ok and the deal on wowcher seemed quite good also.

    When booking everything seemed.

I took my boyfriend there for the spa for his birthday, looking at the reviews it seemed ok and the deal on wowcher seemed quite good also.

When booking everything seemed fine and was quite exciting! Receptionist on the phone was very professional and helpful.

It was when we got there that it all went downhill, the guy at reception was very unhelpful, it was a different person from who I spoke to over the phone. He handed us a questionnaire to fill out and pointed in various directions not explaining anything well at all, we asked a few times where the pool was etc and were still unsure so we decided to wonder around ourselves. Our initial impression wasn’t great of this place.

I booked and paid for a sports massage for my partner, which was accepted over the phone, only to find out that they don’t do a sports massage, the only massage they do is a deep tissue but the masseuse isn’t trained for this, so we had to go for an ordinary sensory massage.

And finally as we were relaxing at the pool, the receptionist approached us and asked for the voucher code I used even though I sent it over prior to our visit. I just felt that it was all very unorganised and unprofessional. I wouldn’t go there again.

In regards to the actual massage that was good. would have been nicer if there was more of an atmosphere and calming music to add to this.

In regards to what you receive including the service, it’s quite expensive for what it is and wouldn’t recommend it. If you want a quick massage and are in the area then it might do the trick!

    Maine Engineering Schools

Maine is seeing growth in several engineering related sectors including: environmental engineers, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and industrial engineers.

Maine has several tax credit programs specifically designed to encourage the growth of manufactoring companies in the state including the Research Expense Tax Credit, R D Super Credit, High-Technology Investment Tax Credit, and Sales Tax exemptions for engineering companies.

Some of the larger companies that are hiring engineering professionals in Maine include: L. L. Bean, Fairchild Semiconductor International, IDEXX Laboratories, Cianbro Companies, Wright Express Corporation, Webber Oil Company, Maine Employers’ Mutual Insurance, Olympia Sports, Pine State Trading, and Darling’s.

    Engineering Education in Maine

There are three schools in Maine with engineering programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET.) These programs, which can lead to engineering licensure are the University of Maine, Maine Maritime and the University of Southern Maine. Because not all programs at the University of Southern Maine are accredited, it is recommended you check with the specific program you are interested in to guarantee you can be eligible for licensure upon completion. All three offer Bachelor degrees, only one offers a Master’s or PhD program. These programs do offer plans in many specialties like chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil, environmental, bioengineering etc.

There are also a number of engineering programs in Maine that are viable options for you to consider, but completion of them alone will not make you eligible to become a licensed Professional Engineer.

The Maine Society of Professional Engineers and Maine State Chamber of Commerce offer scholarships for engineering candidates. Each school will also advise students about financial aid and scholarships offered through the schools.

Outlook for Engineering Jobs in Maine

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics measured in May 2011, the mean annual wage for engineers in Maine was $66,840. Job opportunities in the state are predicted to be average. As in many states, locations of engineering positions will be based in the larger towns, such as Portland, Bangor or the capital city of Augusta. The northern most state of New England offers a positive outlook for those in the engineering profession.

I ve used hotelsclick.com and never had a problem. I booked a quad room in VAN DER VALK HOTEL SCHIPHOL A4 – Amsterdam for less than £200 for 3 nights including breakfast and that was for all of us. £50 each for 3 nights. I was a bit nervous at booking as they say if it s too good to be true, it probably is and it was down to me to get it right. What a great decision I made. I received a confirmation email and it didn t occur to me that anything would go wrong and it didn t. The place was amazing. They state that a continental breakfast was included however it was like a banquet, you couldn t want for anything, including smoked salmon. and it wasn t even Christmas. The hotel put on a courtesy coach to go back and forth to the Airport to get the train into the heart of Amsterdam. I can t praise this hotel enough however as I said, I booked it through hotelsclick.com . There is a phone number and email address on their site so I don t know why the other poster had a problem. However, I have noticed that there is a hotelclick.com (no s ) which is also a sponsered link to this site. So very confusing! I ve looked at both sites and the latter uses 32 reservation websites. Therefore you are not booking with them.

Smartlondonla, just checked booking.com for 25 – 28 Nov at the above hotel I stayed in, £339.54 for a Quadruple Room

Prices are per room for 3 nights.

Included in room price: 6 % VAT.

Not included in room price: 6 % city tax. • FREE cancellation

Meals: Buffet breakfast costs EUR 15 per person per night. Buffet breakfast costs EUR 7.50 per night per child under 12 years.

Taxes: 6 % city tax is excluded.

So add £50+ per night for 4 for breakfast, £150 that s £489.54 then add 6% city tax. Ouch, that works out expensive for FREE cancellation. Take out insurance, it s cheaper!

They state on their site – •Best Price Guarantee. Found your room online at a lower price? We ll match it. Bet they are kept busy

Now, Hotesclick.com – 25 – 28 Nov for a quad room, £321.75 including all taxes and breakfast. Now that s uncomplicated, no add ons.

    Hampshire 127 forum posts

For one, mine was not a late booking. Yes they get good prices but isn t that we want. I ve read your link however the poster is not complaining about hotelsclick.com. They booked the accommodation in good faith and of course they are going to take payment. The fact that the hotel was overbooked wasn t down to them, they have their allocation and the fact that the hotel was overbooked is not their fault, it was down to the Midland Hotel for overbooking.

    Quote from poster:-

Since this was the evening of the Manchester United v. Roma and the World Swimming Championships I am sure that the hotel could ask more for our room than we had paid! Emails to the hotel were met with curt and unhelpful replies. HotelsClick eventually found us a room at The Macdonald Manchester Hotel where we were very well looked after. I would warn other travellers to beware since bookings not made directly with The Midland Hotel may not be honoured .

Nowhere does the poster state that it was down to hotelsclick.com . However, they looked after them which is more can be said for the hotel staff.

Hardly a negative response so I don t see your point.

    Edited: Nov 15, 2011, 2:37 PM

    Hampshire 127 forum posts

    Your comments iggyfitz

Although the reviewer blames the Midland Hotel, it seems far more likely that Hotelsclick had not confirmed the booking .

That s heresay on your part and not constructive being that you are obviously biased for some reason. Mine was confirmed, booked and honoured.

Just a parting shot iggyfitz have you been affected by hotelsclick.com ?

If not, you have no room to comment.

    Edited: Nov 15, 2011, 3:20 PM

    Islington 1,921 forum posts

No, yours was not a late booking but that does not mean that Hotelsclick did not book it or confirm the booking with the hotel until much later when the discounted rates kicked in. Exactly when (or if) a discounted rate kicks in will depend on the hotel, but some booking companies trust to luck that they will. If the lower rates turn out not to be available all they have to do is tell their customers that the hotel overbooked.

The reviewer referred to only knows what Hotelsclick told them. If the hotel had not received a confirmed booking from Hotelsclick and the hotel was full, there is nothing much they could do. Hotelsclick then comes to the rescue with another hotel.

My comments are based on some of the threads on this site about Hotelsclick. It s strange that this seems to happen so much more often with this company than with others.

The grounds are breathtaking and the interior is of a high standard. Sadly didn’t have chance to go in the pool, but looked beautiful. My room was very clean and the beds most comfortable. If I’m in the area again, I will certainly stop here again.

    London, United Kingdom

I stayed here one night on business and it was such a pleasant experience. Everything from driving in, to checking in to dining was a pleasant, customer friendly experience.

The reception staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms are huge! Especially for a standard room! The beds are so very comfortable! I stayed a night when the humidity was very high so it was quite warm and there was no air con option but how many times does that actually happen in the UK.

I used the swimming pool and gym and they were both adequate. I utilized them late at night and early in the morning so it was lovely, quiet and peaceful! I had never used Tepidarium Beds before so it was a lovely experience and I wish I had one in my house!

The food was nice. I ordered room service as I had work to finish. The selection on the Room Service menu isn’t the best but the food that I chose was still nice and tasty.

Check out the next day was easy and quick and every staff member I encountered along the way was smiley, friendly and very helpful!

I cannot wait to return to Carden Park 🙂

Spent 2 nights at Brown s Hotel in London. Lovely twin room, although small it was well presented with excellent bathroom. Continental breakfast in the restaurant was well presented and lots of options. Being such a central location close to Green Park made this great for shopping. Most of the staff can t do enough for you – very attentive and helpful. More

We visited earlier in the month for a hen party. We had the Roosevelt room which was absolutely beautiful. I cannot stress enough how brilliant and attentive the staff were from start to finish. The afternoon tea itself was fabulous, unlimited sandwiches- what s not to love? Staff were very accommodating with other refreshments such as coffee, hot chocolate and water. More

Selsdon Park Hotel Golf Club anmeldelser, Croydon

Mere

Not able to comply with Romanian Tax Authorities Requirements

I have just started my new position as Managing Director in a Romanian Subsidiary of my company. The authorities require to have a form stamped and signed by the hotel. When I kindly and polite asked for getting this done, even the Manager on duty objected to do so. My conclusion is, if you have the need to meet the Romanian Tax authorities requirements you can not stay in this hotel. Too bad! In addition there was a permanent strange noise. The WIFI is charged extra! The room is small but new furbished.

Muslims Outnumber Christians in More than 30 Church Schools

Muslims outnumber Christian pupils in more than 30 church schools nationwide, including one which proudly proclaims to have a “100 per cent Muslim population”.

The Church of England has estimated that around 20 of its schools have more Muslim than Christian background pupils, while according to the Catholic Education Service, about 15 Catholic schools said the same.

St. Thomas in Werneth, Oldham, has no Christian pupils according to its website, although the Rev Nick Andrewes, who chairs the school’s governors says that figure is “a little out of date”. While 98 per cent of pupils attending Staincliffe C of E Junior School in Batley, West Yorkshire, “come from a Muslim background”, according to its most recent religious inspection report in 2015.

The Rev Nigel Genders, the Church of England’s chief education officer, has told The Times that at Bishop Bridgeman C of E Primary School in Bolton, 90 per cent of pupils were Muslim.

He added: “Yet it feels like a Church of England school.”

He said: “It goes back to the principle that we are not faith schools serving a Christian population but church schools serving the local community.”

Although it is a requirement for both Catholic and CofE schools, which receive government funding, to have a daily act of collective worship that is recognisably Christian, many of the schools appear to be accommodating both Christian and Muslim practices.

Some have incorporated Islamic prayers into their worship acts and allow girls to wear headscarves as part of the official uniform.

All Saints Church of England Primary in Bradford sells hijabs to its pupils.

The website for St. Thomas’ school notes that the school observes “both Christian and Muslim festivals”, while Staincliffe holds shared assembly services with an imam and a parish priest, referred to as the “men in black”, each term.

Their Remembrance Day service includes Islamic as well as Christian prayers, and the school schedules staff training days to coincide with the Islamic festival Eid to improve its attendance ratings, because most Muslim pupils would expect not to attend on those days.

Staincliffe’s website gives its motto as “one team together”, and says it is proud to be “cohesive, inclusive and caring” and “a church school serving a majority Muslim community”.

Education experts have suggested that the schools be turned into secular schools to avoid pupils becoming confused.

Professor Alan Smithers, director of the centre for education at the University of Buckingham, said: “The Church of England has traditionally provided education in this country but now that risks being an uncomfortable experience for the Muslim pupils that fill many of these schools.

“It must also be very confusing for the handful of Christian pupils in some of them. It would seem logical these schools become secular institutions.”

We decided to stay here based on reading reviews on Tripadvisor. It was very good indeed. From the moment that we arrived we were dealt with so professionally by Grenville, who is extremly friendly, welcoming and is the epitome of how service should be delivered.
The room was excellent, quite large, very well furnished, a large modern Panasonic HD TV in the room, stylish and modern furnishings. A bathroom to die for and crisp beautifully clean bedding with duck down pillows.
Grenville had even booked us into a local pub for dinner as requested on our email booking, the food was good.
Attention to detail was excellent. Good quality shower gels, shampoo, freshly laundered flannel, tissues, shower cap. There is clearly a lot of thought put into what is provided for guests.
The breakfast is continental and served in your room and was very good.
We highly recommend this motel, if you stay here you will be delighted with the experience.

Visiting the Forest Of Dean area for a few days with the dog as well. Granville at the DeanGate Motel was just fantastic. Very friendly, welcoming and informative. The motel is modern, very clean, with generously proportioned rooms. The car parking is very secure and next to the police station. Breakfast served in your room was lovely. A great vantage point if you are driving around the attractions in the forest.

We spent last Saturday night at the DeanGate motel whilst visiting family in the Forest of Dean. I was aware that reception wasn’t manned 24 hours a day but within a few minutes of arriving and contacting Granville by intercom he arrived to greet us and show us to our spotlessly clean room. The room was well appointed and Granville ran through everything with us that we needed to know. We had a twin bedded room and the extra (fold up) bed we had requested for our 11 year old daughter was ready to use. The bathroom was great, with a huge shower cubicle and the usual toiletries. Car parking is free and ample, in a very secure carpark (barrier and CCTV). The barier can be opened with the room cardkey if you’re late back at night. There is no restaurant facility at the motel but Granville took our order for a continental breakfast for the following morning. All we needed to do was give him a quick call, 15 minutes before we wanted it, and it would be delivered to our room. This arrived as requested and was more than enough to start the day. Can’t fault anything and I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the DeanGate to anyone else. If you need a base to explore the Forest, it couldn’t be better. We shall definitely be staying here again in the future.

This stirp has alot of hourlys so you can be picky.
Its a dump and its cheap. These places are still in business for a reason.

Only go here if it is a last resort. I never had an issue with the old man with the glasses. People ask to many silly questions so I am not surprised he was annoyed.

    Pros:
You always worry about, bed bugs, but at least they clean their sheets frequently. I see the staff constantly washing sheets so that is the one redeeming factor.
    Alot of parking.
They are not quick to kick you out if you go over 3 hours.

    Cons:
    Run Down
    Broken furniture
Lingering Cigarette Smoke. (Depends on the room)
For 10 dollars more you can get much better.

The dish was excellently prepared. Grilled, juicy, and fresh without a hint of fishiness. A glaze of tangerine sauce brought a hint of tart sweetness. The fish was placed on a mound of sweet plantain rice. The combination of the fish and rice alone was to die for!

However, as only expert chefs can achieve, additional garnishes provided even bolder, beautiful tastes. Pickled onions topping the fish made for an even finer taste experience, while green beans hidden under the fish added freshness and completed each bite

Tiny and I mean tiny bathroom/bath, TVs big box thing with tiny screens mattress pah might as well have slept on the floor. Won’t go on cause car is still on their carpark and might not be when I get back. Do not book here.

We booked this hotel through our villa company as we had a very early flight and the hotel booking included car parking.
Blimey. The front desk staff were very nice, but they could not compensate for the 1970s/1980s Fawlty Towers feel. Our room had an orange bathroom, no opening window in the bedroom and one wall was actually a partition so we could hear every nuance of the argument next door. I can only think that the photo of the entrance was taken fifteen years ago. The paint is now peeling and the picnic tables outside are encircled by a light smattering of fag butts.
Being so close to Gatwick, of course you have significant aircraft noise, but flights do cease at night-time.
On the plus side – the room was clean, our car was safe, the recommended taxi service was very efficient and we got a few hours’ sleep. Still would not return, I am afraid.

Arrived at hotel from Piccadilly station not knowing much about hotel other than it was a 5 star hotel.

It was a short enough taxi ride from centre, hotel us in Salford so not overtly central.

Reception is very big but a little featureless however the staff at reception were very good and we were given the City view room.

They had called me the day before asking if I wanted anything from hotel before we arrived which I thought was a nice touch as I was celebrating a close friends birthday and they obliged with a cake and drinks in room. Very appreciated

Room was spacious and comfortable and bathroom presentable and clean. No complaints at all.

Decided to have champagne breakfast in room on first morning and again staff and food were of a high standard

Visited bar in hotel to find again staff very engaging and friendly and even suggested some new gin to try!

Overall a really enjoyable stay with highlight being the tasting menu in nearby Manchester House restaurant, although a little pricey it was worth it.

Shops and bars all close enough.

Hotel from outside looks a little industrial and could be better in reception but this is a small point.

Would definitely stay again and thanks for a great break from London.

Selsdon Park Hotel Golf Club anmeldelser, Croydon

Mere

Not able to comply with Romanian Tax Authorities Requirements

    Christian W (11 reviews)

    Ascot, United Kingdom

I have just started my new position as Managing Director in a Romanian Subsidiary of my company. The authorities require to have a form stamped and signed by the hotel. When I kindly and polite asked for getting this done, even the Manager on duty objected to do so. My conclusion is, if you have the need to meet the Romanian Tax authorities requirements you can not stay in this hotel. Too bad! In addition there was a permanent strange noise. The WIFI is charged extra! The room is small but new furbished.

I would not stay here again if I was paid to. The rooms need updating at least bring them into this century. The paper on the walls where there still was some was ripped and don’t get me started on the bed.

Blimey. The front desk staff were very nice, but they.

The grounds are breathtaking and the interior is of a high standard. Sadly didn’t have chance to go in the pool, but looked beautiful. My room was very clean and the beds most comfortable. If I’m in the area again, I will certainly stop here again.
