Illinois Addiction and Inpatient Drug Rehab – Addiction Center #drug #rehab #center

Illinois Addiction and Inpatient Drug Rehab

There are dozens of treatment centers in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. Illinois has rehabs up and down the state, including ones that are more secluded from busier, more populated areas. We can help you find a rehab near you right now .

    Top Rehabs in Illinois

While there are many great drug and alcohol rehabs in Illinois, not all rehabs are equally rated. The best rehabs offer a full staff of specialists and personalized treatment plans. Here are some of the top drug rehabs in Illinois:

Rosecrance Health Network (Rockford and Northern Illinois)

There are over 20 inpatient and outpatient rehabs in the Rosecrance Health Network, with a majority of it inpatient centers in Rockford. Rosecrance treats over 13,000 people within its network each year, offering intervention services, detox, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders and services for family members.

Rosecrance has several centers specifically designed to help addicted young people. Roughly nine miles from the Harrison campus is the Griffin Williamson Campus, a 78-bed, residential treatment center for young people ages 12-18.

When residents complete treatment at a Rosecrance facility, they can transfer to a recovery home. These homes are more private and offer more freedom than during the residential part of the program. This helps people transition into life after rehab.

Gateway Treatment Centers (North, South, and Central Illinois)

The Gateway Foundation has inpatient rehabs across the state of Illinois, from Chicago to Springfield to Carbondale. This rehab foundation puts a heavy focus on individualized treatment plans for its residents. Gateway considers each resident’s drug use history, physical and mental health issues, and even details about his or her lifestyle. Each person at Gateway is assigned a counselor to help create a personalized treatment plan.

In addition to individual counseling, residents also receive group counseling, substance abuse education and relapse prevention training. Residents may be prescribed medications for drug cravings or withdrawal if needed. Gateway also encourages families to be involved in their loved one’s treatment process.

Gateway accepts most forms of insurance as an in-network provider, so insurance may cover the full cost of treatment.

    Timberline Knolls (Lemont)

Timberline Knolls is a renowned addiction treatment center for women. The rehab consists of four residential lodges on 43 acres of forested land, just a half-hour drive from O’Hare and Midway airports. Each lodge is equipped with its own nursing staff. Timberline Knolls is also known for treating eating disorders that often affect young women.

Like all reputable rehabs, each resident entering Timberline has an assessment of their addiction and any co-occurring disorders. Then the counselors develop a specific and unique treatment plan for that individual.

Timberline uses dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and family therapy to help each woman work past underlying behaviors that led to addiction. There are also experiential therapies, such as equine and art therapy.

    The Pavilion (Champaign)

Providing addiction treatment for adolescents and adults since 1989, the Pavilion is a 77-bed residential treatment center with a full staff of psychiatrists, nurses, physicians and case managers. Each person admitted to this rehab gets a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and a personalized treatment plan. Because recovery is an ongoing process, the Pavilion helps residents establish aftercare plans and goals.

The Pavilion offers financial assistance to those who are uninsured or can’t afford treatment. Financial help is based on the needs of each individual, and the rehab’s staff can help eligible people apply for state-funded insurance.

The Pavilion is recognized as a top performing treatment center by The Joint Commission, one of the nation’s leading healthcare accreditation organizations.

    Should I Travel for Treatment?

Depending on your treatment needs, addiction rehabs in Illinois may offer more than the rehabs in your area. Residents in the Midwest often travel to top rehabs in Illinois for better treatment, but also to get away from their current environment. Many people seek a change of scenery during addiction treatment because so many parts of their old environment are associated with drug and alcohol use. Getting away from that minimizes distractions during treatment and helps prevent relapse.

    Illinois State Addiction Services

The state of Illinois has extensive programs addressing the problem of addiction among its residents. The Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA), part of the Illinois Department of Human Services, is the primary provider of services for addicted people.

Illinois residents can access these services through agencies found in most communities in the state. The state designed these agencies to help assess and treat people close to their homes.

Addiction services offered by DASA include:

    • Psychiatric evaluation
    • Early intervention services
    • Case management
    • Outpatient treatment
    • Individual counseling
    • Intensive outpatient treatment
    • Detoxification
    • Residential rehabilitation

The state of Illinois also offers a program called Extended Care, which is outpatient treatment for those who have completed residential rehab. Extended Care provides additional support for those transitioning to life after rehab.

Although any Illinois resident can use these services, certain people are given priority for treatment. Some of these high-priority groups include:

    • Pregnant women (especially intravenous drug users)
    • Women with children
    • People referred to the Department of Children and Family Services
    • Low-income families
    • Those recently released from jail

The rates of drug use drop considerably six months after treatment at an Illinois state treatment center.

    Harm Reduction Laws in Illinois

There are several laws in the state of Illinois designed to minimize the impact of substance abuse in each community. Some of these include:

    • 911 Good Samaritan law This law protects drug offenders in Illinois calling 911 in the event of an overdose. The person making the call can avoid charges for drug possession as a result of helping save someone’s life.
    • Rescue drug law In 2010, it became legal for non-medical persons to administer naloxone in the event of an opiate overdose. Naloxone reverses the effects of opiates like heroin. During this year, programs approved through the state’s Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse began distributing naloxone.
    • HIV Counseling and Testing Illinois has 37 state-funded programs for those who have HIV or are at risk of contracting the infection. The purpose of these programs is to reduce the rates of HIV transmission, especially among intravenous drug users, by teaching methods to protect oneself and counseling to prevent infecting others.

    Illinois Medicaid and Addiction Treatment

In Illinois, those who are eligible can use Medicaid to cover the costs of addiction treatment. Medicaid is a government-funded health insurance program for low-income individuals.

Illinois is among the states that expanded Medicaid benefits and coverage in 2014 under the Affordable Care Act. also known as “Obamacare.” In Illinois, Medicaid now covers the costs of inpatient drug rehab and detoxification programs. While not all rehabs accept Medicaid, many programs accept other types of insurance.

    Illinois Drug Courts

The drug court system in Illinois gives nonviolent drug offenders an alternative to incarceration — help for their addiction. The purpose of these drug courts is to reduce repeat offenses that lead to multiple incarcerations.

Drug courts help first-time or previous low-level offenders who are charged with a nonviolent drug violation.

Drugs courts allow these individuals to avoid conviction by attending treatment for their substance abuse. Upon completion of the treatment program, charges may be dropped or a sentence reduced or removed (if they had a previous offense).

    Find Addiction Treatment in Illinois

There are so many resources in Illinois for addicted people and their families who are looking for help. Whether you’re looking for an outpatient treatment center near home or a residential rehab in a removed area of the state, we can help. Call a treatment specialist now to find an Illinois rehab that’s right for you .

    West Palm Beach FL > Pest Control > Termites #termite #control #west

APPLY ONLINE for the complete Exterra termite baiting system information pack sent to you by post direct from the manufacturer in US or Australia. You’ll receive FREE by post, the latest information, full color brochures and efficiency data on field trials clearly demonstrating how the Exterra system can protect Your Home from the destructive effects of a termite infestation.

Termites infest West Palm Beach FL homes – will Yours be next?

On the basis of recent experience, a significant portion of homes in West Palm Beach FL will suffer a severe termite infestation. To make matters worse your home insurance policy does NOT cover the damage which may involve costly replacement of floor, wall and roofing timbers. Fortunately, several excellent termite control products are available – Premise and Termidor which can offer 100% termite protection in the majority of situations.

Premise and Termidor are used for soil treatment at the base of a building to prevent entry of subterranean termites into the building and by a delayed transfer effect can eliminate termites in other areas inside and surrounding the building.

Premise – first and foremost has been used by the USA termite control market-place for many years with excellent results in protecting buildings and other timber structures.

Premise and Termidor work differently from other soil termite control treatment products. Most other such termiticides are repellents, which means they keep termites away from a treated soil area. This means any gap in the treated soil zone can be easily detected by the termites, to enable their unrestricted entry into the building.

With Premise and Termidor. the termites cannot detect the chemical in the treated soil as it has no odor, taste or smell to the termites. They are not aware of the lethal effect of the chemical until it’s too late. Both BASF Termidor and Bayer Premise claim their products kill termites that travel through a treated soil area abutting the building, where higher concentration levels are encountered. In addition, termites exposed to the chemical in lower concentrations can transfer it onto other termites – the so called Transfer or Domino Effect. This is a very important aspect aimed at wiping out the entire colony – the ultimate form of long-term protection. Both products seem to provide more than 5 years reliable protection if applied correctly to label requirements and industry standards. Both Premise and Termidor products are ultra-low hazard to people and are discussed in detail in the Termite Control section of this website.

PREMISE is the LOWER COST effective alternative

Premise is owned and supplied by Bayer and is the lower cost effective product used extensively throughout the USA. Bayer claims that Premise has a transfer or Domino Effect aimed at wide-spread termite elimination in areas surrounding the building. For an excellent research paper on the Premise transfer effect from Bayer Research – CLICK HERE. CONSUMER NOTE. For the homeowner with active termites in their property, we recommend you arrange for a Termite Inspection and Report, including written specifications for a complete soil treatment (where practicable) using Premise or Termidor .

It’s IMPORTANT to know. About Termites

WARNING. Termite damage to a building or other timber structures can be severe and your home insurance does NOT cover the repair costs. Termites are known to destroy roofing and wall framing timbers within a few months in a worst case scenario.

We recommend you check out the About Termites Florida section of this web-site to help you assess your property’s level of risk, and if need be, to choose which of the termite control methods will best protect your property. The alternative termite control methods aim at exploiting certain behavioural characteristics of termites in varying types of building situations. Click on About Termites

    Gainesville Foreclosure Attorney – Rory K #foreclosure #attorney, #foreclosure #defense, #stop #foreclosure,

    Foreclosure Attorney in Gainesville

If you are serious about saving your home the first question on your mind should be, “How is `Foreclosure Defense’ even possible?”. Banks argue you agreed to a debt (your mortgage). If you’re having problems paying it isn’t their problem – and anyone who advocates otherwise is a fraud.

The truth of the matter is that in order to keep the momentum of the steam roller that is the mortgage industry rolling lenders and brokers often crossed ethical – and legal – lines that can be use in your defense. The bank may have you feeling like you have no options – but the truth of the matter is is that they are the ones with their hands in the cookie jar. They’re afraid they’re going to get caught.

We do not advocate launching a complex sustained foreclosure defense “pro se”, but for those unable to handle the financial burden of an attorney we’ve created a resource that offers a foreclosure knowledge center with news, and a comprehensive collection of foreclosure forms and guides (many used by legal counsel in Florida) virtually free of charge at

Before retaining anyone educate yourself about the foreclosure process – learn your options and familiarize yourself with the current status of the foreclosure industry. Make sure your next decisions are the right ones.

There may be no guarantees, but recent developments have greatly enhanced the number of favorable outcomes of foreclosure defense efforts nationwide. Take a few moments to review these videos – Florida Congressman Grayson demands for an investigation into illegally “robo-signed” affidavits used in over 50,0000 foreclosure cases, Ratigan on MSNBC covers growing “fraudclosures” nationwide . and several Judges nationwide support a class action suit against bank funded “foreclosure mills”.
note: Videos require a moment to load in Firefox.

Our primary goal at Rohan Law truly is saving homes. Which means ensuring all – regardless of financial status – are afforded a fighting chance to save their property.

It requires years of experience in litigation and real estate law as well as special training in foreclosure law to launch an effective defense. We encourage only those with no other recourse to use the materials provided on

Over thirty years as an attorney, developer, construction contractor and real estate professional has given Mr. Rohan a unique perspective in defending foreclosure matters. He was educated at the prestigious University of Florida Warrington School of Business and at the renowned University of San Diego ALCALA School of Law, both excellent institutions of higher learning.

An aggressive defense to foreclosure is really the only path forward and we will provide that aggressive defense. My team and I will find the problems with the plaintiff’s pleading and bring those issues to the attention of the judge over and over until we are able to convince the judge that the foreclosure is not proper and should not go forward. We will force the plaintiff to prove their case and we will not rest until you are afforded the proper defense that you deserve.

New Auto Accident Injury PIP Laws in Florida #florida #auto #accident #laws

New Florida Laws Regarding Auto Accident Injury

What are the new PIP laws?

In 2013, the state of Florida introduced new legislation that changed the way auto insurance covers your healthcare after an auto accident injury. Whiplash and other symptoms often don t start to manifest in the new time allotted to make a claim. Dr. Allan Dellabella, our West Boca Raton chiropractor. explains how the new laws work so that you can visit your chiropractor in time and receive coverage.

New auto accident injury PIP laws video transcript

Hello my name is Allan DellaBella. I am a Chiropractic physician in West Boca Raton, Florida and I have been asked to speak today in regards to what a patient should do when they sustain an injury in an auto accident in regards to their health and the new laws in the state of Florida.

First of all as on January 1, 2013 the governor introduced new legislation to the state in which instead of 4 years of time to be treated after an auto injury you now have to be treated within the first 2 weeks for your auto insurance to cover your healthcare. Aside from that you also need to obtain on emergency medical certificate from the physician so that your PIP Coverage encompasses the full $10,000 policy otherwise the policy only has a $2,500 limit. So make sure your physician gets an emergency medical certificate so you have the full $10,000 of your policy.

Other then that there are injuries sustained to your body that you can not feel so if you feel muscle soreness in your neck, in your mid-back, in your low-back or any where in your body seek a physician s advice within the first 2 weeks, Because where you just feel soreness and think it going to go away and then go to your physician a month later after the soreness doesn t go away your going to find out that unfortunately you can not use those medical benefits covered under your policy.

You may have whiplash which is a straightening of the neck curve, you may end up with a pinched nerve or you may have some other sprain/strain to your spine, please seek treatment within those first 2 weeks to allow for that. To recap again seek treatment in the 2 weeks after a car injury, make sure your physician fills out an emergency medical certificate for you and if you are unsure whether to seek treatment, go for a consultation, let yourself get examined so that a physician can determine whether or not you have been injured.

    Ask Us a Question

    Ask Us a Question

Q: How can I find the perfect beach for me?

Here’s a quick primer on Florida beaches to help you choose. Start by choosing your general location and the time of year you want to visit.

    • Gulf of Mexico Beaches will tend to have white sand and calmer waters (which is great for really young children or for those timid about the water).
    • Atlantic Beaches tend to have golden brown sand and waves (which are great fun if you like to surf, skim board, etc).
    • The Florida Keys are great fun, but not renowned for their beaches, with the exception of beautiful Bahia Honda. Many of the Florida Keys’ beaches are manmade, or are just a layer of sand over a sliver of limestone. (If you want superb scuba diving and snorkeling, you cannot beat the Keys.)
    • The north is almost always cooler than south, something to remember in both summer and winter. To find out the average temperature of a destination, just scroll to the bottom of VISIT FLORIDA’s home page. You’ll find a place to enter the city’s name plus the month.

Next, you should figure out the general vibe you’re looking for. Do you want a big city? A charming little town with shopping and cafes? A beach where you see almost nobody else? Someplace upscale? Someplace old-fashioned? Do you like miniature golf and T-shirt shops, or do you hate them? Florida features beaches on both coasts in all these varieties.

A few articles you may find helpful:

To further research any destination that you find interesting, put its name into the search engine on the VISIT FLORIDA homepage. and it will give you lots of info that you can filter by blog, article, photo or video, to help you decide which one is the best fit for you.

I’m happy to help you find exactly what you’re looking for, too! Just write me with details of what you’d like!

Q: What’s the closest beach to Orlando?

Cocoa Beach would be the closest to Orlando. It’s on the Atlantic side and only about 55 minutes away. It’s also home to the Kennedy Space Center. Daytona Beach or New Smyrna would be about a 75-minute drive. If you seek Gulf coast beaches, head to St. Petersburg/Clearwater Beach (less than two hours). The beaches are beautiful and there is plenty to do for families – we love Pier 60 in Clearwater.

Q: Where can I find discounted theme park tickets?

Most theme parks run their own specials, so before your visit, log on to the park’s website and click specials or offers. Often, you’ll also find special rates for Florida residents on the theme parks’ websites. If you live in Florida, be sure to buy your tickets online for SeaWorld. Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resorts.

If you’re an out-of-state visitor, check ticket brokers. Mousesavers offers various discounts for military, GE, Hilton, Costco and AAA. Speaking of AAA, members can get discounts through Another reliable source is the Official Ticket Center. which offers discount tickets for all the Orlando theme parks, plus dinner shows and other attractions. Also try UnderCover Tourist. Orlando Fun Tickets and Reserve Orlando.

It may take some digging, but you CAN score a deal on theme park tickets, leaving more money for snacks and souvenirs.

Jacksonville Air Conditioning and Heating: Service, Repair, and Equipment Contractors

This local page provides resources and information about A/C and heating service, repair, maintenance, and installers in Jacksonville, Florida. This information includes featured HVAC contractors plus a link to our free and handy printable grid to compare price quotes. On this page you will also find sources of energy efficiency and equipment rebates, the ratio of hours of cooling and heating needed each year and much more.

    About HVAC contractors

The contractor you choose will make a big impact on your satisfaction and purchase of a new air conditioning and heating system. Why? They determine the size and type of equipment for your situation and they control the quality of the installation. If you have not yet seen them, in the top navigation menu on this page you will find quick tips and expanded topics on two essential topics: how to select the right HVAC contractor and how to buy a new heating and cooling system.

Most air conditioning and heating contractors stock and install a limited number of equipment brands. Some independent contractors will order and install any brand of new equipment you prefer to buy. Most of these service companies will perform repair and maintenance on all brands of central heaters, furnaces and air conditioners.

In addition to heating and cooling for indoor comfort and energy savings, many HVAC companies perform air quality work such as air filters, dehumidifiers and humidifiers, ventilation and prevention of toxic carbon monoxide gas from your furnace. However, not all of these perform energy efficiency improvements to houses or buildings. If the service company you select does not perform conservation improvements on homes or buildings, they should be able to recommend another Jacksonville company who does.

How to compare air conditioning and heating equipment price quotes

Air conditioning and heating systems are made of components or units, and these can be interchanged to yield many possible combinations of performance and efficiency. Additionally, based on the particular situation in your home or building, these components must be chosen and installed to accommodate them. For these reasons, comparing proposals, features, and prices can be more than confusing.

To help you sort through your options, use our free and printer-friendly cost comparison organizer found in the navigation on the top of this page. If you get multiple price quotes, it will save you a lot of time and headaches. This grid allows you to compare the essential features from contractor bids including: main components; equipment efficiency in SEER and AFUE; manufacturer’s and installer’s warranties; and equipment brand.

How the Jacksonville climate and resources affect your HVAC needs and decisions

On the heating and cooling map of the U.S. with 5 zones, the Jacksonville area lies in cooling zone 4 and heating zone 5. These require approximately 1986 cooling hours and 1263 heating degree-days per year. As a general and relative guide, the average Jacksonville home would need 1.6 times more air conditioning than heating over a calendar year. Proximity to the ocean, lakes or other topographical or climatic influences can cause microclimates, so be sure to rely on actual measurements and calculations from your heating and air conditioning contractor.

The humid subtropical climate on the east coast of Florida brings Jacksonville mild winters and hot summers average 91 degrees F. with high humidity. The region also has many days throughout the year in which home heating and cooling may not be necessary. However, on these same days, a dehumidifier, whole house air filter or fresh air ventilation could make a huge difference in your indoor comfort and well being.

Pollen, allergies and air filters in Jacksonville

In Jacksonville air filters are a necessity to many residents. Certain northeast coastal Florida plants influence what type of air filter you and your A/C system need. Some common examples include the oak, juniper, and bayberry trees; ragweed in the fall; and flowers in the spring. For updates on the types and levels of pollen, visit the daily pollen count and allergy forecast for the area.

    Local utility and conservation providers

For the Jacksonville area, the DSIRE database for Florida lists resources for energy efficiency rebates and incentives. In many cases, your A/C and heating contractor can coordinate all available energy conservation and rebate programs, from federal tax credits to local rebates and incentives.

The availability of primary fuels such as natural gas help determine which heating equipment will give you the best combination of comfort and lower utility bills. Since natural gas is generally available in Jacksonville neighborhoods, many homes and buildings have gas central furnaces rather than heat pumps. If natural gas prices climb faster than electricity rates, this trend might change. In situations where a heat pump makes the best choice, some of the factors that affect air source heat pumps include the average daily temperature, fluctuations in temperature, and humidity.

How a whole house approach includes the envelope in the load calculation

If you plan to get price quotes to buy a new A/C and heating system, look for contractors who will insert the heating and cooling demands of the NE Florida coastal climate along with the size and condition of your home or building envelope into a the critical load calculation. For many reasons, you should avoid rule of thumb load calculation based only on square footage or using the same size system as the old one without verification. This calculation requires considerable expertise or software and interpretation.

Inspiring professional growth. one paralegal at a time. ®

    Certified Paralegal (CP)

In order to call yourself a paralegal in the State of Florida, you must meet the Florida Bar s™ definition: A paralegal is a person with education, training, or work experience who works under the direction and supervision of a member of The Florida Bar and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a member of The Florida Bar is responsible. Paralegals enter the field either through formal education training, work experience, or a combination of both. The vast majority of law firms now require a degree as a minimum requirement for prospective new hires. In addition, many firms also require the CP designation.

To become a CP (certified paralegal), you must take the CP exam offered through NALA. Once you have passed the CP exam, you are eligible to take the Florida Certified paralegal examination offered by the paralegal Association of Florida (PAF). Upon passing the exam, you are entitled to use the FCP designation. Advanced certifications for particular areas of law are available through NALA; however, you must have obtained the CP designation before you are eligible for any of these advanced certifications.

The National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. ( NALA ), administers the CLA/CP Examination. Successful completion of this national, comprehensive, two-day written exam entitles paralegals to use the designation CLA or CP after their names. This signifies that these paralegals are capable of providing superior services to the law firms and companies who employ them and are eminently qualified to perform those services. As of January 31, 2009, there are 14,965 CLAs/CPs in the country and 3,866 of those are from the State of Florida.

CLA s are required to have 50 hours of continuing legal education credits over a five year period to maintain the CLA/CP certification. Visit for more information.

In 2006, NALA initiated a new web-based format for the advanced certification program. Current specialty certifications include Contracts Management/Contracts Administration, Discovery, Social Security Disability, Trial Practice, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Business Organizations: Incorporated Entities. Programs added since then include Trademarks, Personal Injury, and Land Use. See NALA s ACP Page for more details.

Florida DUI: Refusal to Take a Blood, Breath or Urine Test

    18 month license suspension

In Florida, you will lose your license for one year for your first refusal. For your second and any subsequent refusal, your license will be suspended for 18 months and you will face the additional consequences, such as time in jail, that come with committing a misdemeanor.

In most situations, if you refuse to take a mandatory blood, breath, or urine test, you cannot be forced to do so. However, the state may administer the test if you are unconscious, even if you haven’t yet been arrested. Also, if you find yourself in a situation where an officer arrests you for a DUI but hasn’t given you a test, then Florida law says that you can ask for one. Once you ask, the officer has to give you a test.

The penalties for refusing to submit to a chemical test are found in the Florida Statutes Annotated 316.1932 and 775.082.

Should You Refuse to Take a Mandatory DUI Test in Florida?

It usually does not help you to refuse to take a blood, breath, or urine test when you are arrested for a DUI. In Florida, the consequences for refusal are milder than those for a DUI, but you could still go to jail if you have refused to take a test more than once. If you are convicted of a DUI, then you face hefty fines, jail time, and perhaps installation of an ignition interlock device on your car. Refusing the test does not guarantee that you won’t be convicted – you can still be found guilty of a DUI even if your refusal means that the state does not have proof that your BAC was over.08%, the legal limit for those over 21. In fact, the prosecution can use your refusal against you by arguing that you refused the test because you knew that you were intoxicated and guilty of DUI.

(Check out our blood alcohol content chart for an estimate of how many drinks it takes to get to the legal limit.)

    Get Help With Your DUI

If you have been arrested on a DUI charge in Florida or any other state, get help from an experienced DUI attorney. Unlike other traffic related charges, which might be worth fighting without a lawyer, conviction for a DUI has serious consequences – especially if the incident involved injury to people or property, or if it’s your second or subsequent DUI. To avoid or reduce the consequences, your best bet is to find an attorney who is knowledgeable about your state’s laws and about how the system works in your county’s court.

    Tampa Colleges and Schools

    Colleges in Tampa, Florida

There are at least 25 Tampa colleges serving tens of thousands of students each year. Institutions range considerably in both size and focus, but include both public and private colleges, universities, and technical or vocational schools. The following are just three of the largest colleges in Tampa (by enrollment):

    • University of South Florida. The University of South Florida is a public college offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in a broad range of subjects. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), USF’s 2013-2014 school year enrollment neared 41,500 students. Total estimated annual cost of tuition and fees that year was $6,410 for in-state students and $17,324 for out-of-state students.
    • Hillsborough Community College. HCC is a public, two-year community college offering primarily Associate degrees and certificates. Programs are designed with a mind for transfer to four-year institutions or workforce entry, depending on the discipline. The NCES reports that HCC’s total 2013-2014 enrollment exceeded 26,500. Total cost of tuition and fees that year was $2,506 for in-state students and $9,111 for out-of-state students.
    • University of Tampa. The University of Tampa is a private, not-for-profit institution offering Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees and post-master’s certificates. The NCES reports a total 2013-2014 enrollment of just under 7,300 students, most of whom were undergraduates. As a private college, UT’s tuition and fees are the same for both in- and out-of-state students: $25,772 total in 2013-2014. On-campus room and board cost an estimated $9,388 that year.

Prospective students can learn more about other public and private universities in the Tampa area below, or by visiting NCES online.

Trade and Vocational Schools in Tampa

Trade and vocational schools provide students with career-ready skills in areas like Allied Health; Automotive Repair; Legal Assistance; Criminal Justice; and more. There are several of these types of career colleges across Tampa, though many also offer online degrees for students living outside of the area. The following are two of the largest Tampa, Florida colleges providing technical or vocational training, as reported by the NCES.

    • Ultimate Medical Academy – Tampa. The Ultimate Medical Academy is a private, two-year institution offering certificates and Associate degrees in health-related fields, like Medical and Dental assisting; Nursing; and Healthcare Management. • Everest University in Brandon. Everest College is a large, national career school that served $4,318 students on its Brandon Campus in the 2013-2014 school year. Everest offers certificates and diplomas, Associate degrees, Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s degrees in a wide range of subjects. Estimated tuition and fees for 2013-2014 were $15,156.

Note that not all career schools report enrollment information, so there may be other large institutions not represented. We recommend contacting prospective schools directly to learn more.

    Careers in Tampa

Tampa colleges are an investment that tends to pay-off in both earnings and overall employment. According to 2013 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Associate degree holders earned about $125 more per week on average than workers with high school diplomas alone. Bachelor’s degree holders earned about $450 more that year, and Master’s degree holders earned nearly $700 more, or about double the average weekly earnings for high school graduates. The disparity is even greater for workers with professional and doctoral degrees. The same trend also holds true for employment figures: unemployment rates tend to decline with more education.

The following careers reported the highest mean earnings in Tampa in May of 2013, per the BLS.

Most of the careers featured above require advanced doctoral or professional degrees, but some of the most popular careers in Tampa, such as nursing, information technology, and criminal justice, require just two- or four-year degrees.

    Florida No-Fault Car Insurance Claims #florida #required #auto #insurance

Florida No-Fault Car Insurance Rules and Coverage Requirements

In this article, we focus on Florida’s auto insurance laws and coverage requirements, including minimum requirements for all four-wheeled vehicles registered in the state, and how Florida’s status as a “no-fault” state affects injured drivers and passengers after a car accident. (If you’re new to no-fault car insurance, we provide background information in our article No-Fault Car Insurance and State Laws: The Basics. And for more details on Florida laws that could affect a car accident insurance claim or lawsuit, see our companion article Car Accident Laws in Florida .)

Florida is a “No-Fault” Car Insurance State

Florida follows a “no-fault” system when it comes to injury claims after a car accident. Drivers are required to carry auto insurance that pays personal injury protection (PIP) benefits. When the policyholder (or anyone else covered under the terms of the policy) is injured in a car accident, PIP pays medical expenses and certain non-medical-related costs associated with the accident — like lost wages and the costs of hiring someone to do household chores (known as “replacement benefits”) — up to the coverage limits.

By contrast, in an “at-fault” insurance state (also known as a “fault” or “tort liability” state), drivers may choose whether to file claims with their own insurers, file claims with another driver’s insurer, or take the other driver to court to prove he or she was the one at fault, and therefore the one responsible for paying the costs of the accident.

Who is Covered Under PIP Car Insurance in Florida?

All Florida vehicle owners are required to carry minimum PIP benefits in their policies. These benefits kick in regardless of who was at fault in the accident. But PIP protections benefit more than just the policyholder who is injured while involved in an accident in his or her own vehicle. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. PIP coverage also applies to:

    • your children (not just for accidents that occur in your car, but also for injuries that occur while riding on a school bus)
    • members of your household, and
    • most passengers who lack PIP Insurance (as long as they don’t own a vehicle).

Your PIP coverage also protects you while you’re a passenger in someone else’s vehicle, and as a pedestrian or bicyclist if you suffer injuries in a crash involving a motor vehicle.

Note that anyone who is riding in your car who carries PIP will receive coverage under their own PIP for their injuries. The same goes for most licensed drivers who are driving your vehicle with your permission.

Florida’s “Injury Threshold” for Taking a Claim Out of the No-Fault System

Florida drivers can only step outside of the state’s no-fault system and pursue a claim against the at-fault driver directly:

    • if injuries resulting from the accident are considered “permanent”
    • if significant and permanent scarring or disfigurement occurs, or
    • if significant and permanent loss of an important bodily function results from the crash.

This threshold is significant because an injured driver or passenger can’t receive certain kinds of compensation via a no-fault or PIP claim. Most notably, non-economic damages like pain and suffering are excluded from the no-fault/PIP process. But once you’re permitted to step outside of the no-fault construct and file a liability claim or lawsuit, you’re entitled to seek the full spectrum of car accident damages, including payment for pain and suffering, which can really boost the value of a car accident claim .

Finally, it’s important to note that vehicle damage is never part of a no-fault or PIP claim. If you want to get payment for damage to a vehicle after an accident, you’re free to pursue an insurance action or lawsuit against the at-fault driver.

    Auto Insurance Requirements in Florida

Now that you understand how no-fault PIP coverage works, what kinds and amounts of car insurance coverage are mandated under Florida law? The following minimums are required in order to register a vehicle in the state:

    • $10,000 in no-fault personal injury protection (PIP) benefits, and
    • $10,000 in property damage liability (PDL) benefits (which kicks in if you cause damage to someone else’s vehicle or other property in an accident).

Unlike most other U.S. states, Florida does not require drivers to have bodily injury liability (BIL) benefits (which pay the costs of injuries to other drivers and passengers if a crash occurs and you’re found to be at fault). All auto insurance policies must be purchased from insurers licensed to do business in Florida. Driving without insurance in Florida is illegal, and a driver may have his or her license suspended if caught driving without at least the minimum required coverage. To get a license reinstated, a driver has to show proof of insurance on every vehicle owned in the state of Florida, and must pay a fine of up to $500 per violation.

    Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage in Florida

Florida drivers are not required to buy uninsured/underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage. This kind of coverage must be offered by an insurer at the time a policy is purchased in Florida, but the purchaser can reject UIM coverage as long as they decline in writing. UIM coverage pays additional benefits if a policyholder is hit by a driver who does not have any insurance (uninsured) or who does not have enough insurance to cover the costs of the policyholder’s medical bills and other damages. For more details on how this coverage works, see Uninsured Motorist Coverage: The Basics and Underinsured Motorist Coverage: How It Works.

More Information on Florida Car Insurance Rules

In 2006, the Florida Senate released a guide to Florida no-fault auto insurance. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles also answers frequently asked questions about insurance requirements on its website.
