Sept. 11 – I got this emailed to me. I have an Allis Chalmers Model 66 All-Crop Harvester. We have used it the last 6 years or so to harvest our small grain crops of a few acres. This machine works and runs well. We are moving out of the country and cannot take this with us. I need to sell this machine and it would be a travesty if some scrap iron guy purchased this as scrap. I am hoping that I can find a good home for this. I would consider any reasonable offer.

    • Run actions before/after backup

      For each backup job, you can define an action to execute before or after the backup. For example, you can select “Clear backup” before the backup runs, so that all the previous backed up files will be cleared before loading the new ones. As an after-backup action, you can set it to stand by, log off, hibernate or even shut down the computer once the backup has successfully finished.

    • Automatic updates

      FBackup automatically checks for updates weekly, so you’ll know when a new version is released. The option to check for updates can be disabled, but we recommend that it is enabled so that FBackup will be up-to-date.

    • Multiple backup destinations

      By default, your backups will be stored on the local Windows partition. To be sure you have a secure backup, we highly recommend you to store the backups on other destinations supported by FBackup (such as an external USB/Firewire drive, or on a mapped network drive).     • Backup plugins

    • Backup open files

      If a file is in use by another program at the time of the backup, FBackup will still be able to back up that file, because it uses the Volume Shadow Service that Windows provides. As an example, you will be able to back up your Outlook emails and settings without closing the program first.

    Welcome to the “LARGEST” College Football Fight Song web site in the universe, where all the songs are now in MP3 format. I have always been a fan of college football and especially the Nittany Lions of Penn State. All the MP3’s on this site have been compressed 11 to 1 in size and reformatted in mono, all to help save webspace. It has been a rough ride these past 2-3 years as interest seems to hae waned a bit and it is more costly to keep the site up for FREE! And now certain schools like Miami (FL), Washington and Utah forced me to remove the school’s songs from the website, even though they are free to download and isn’t this kind of like FREE advertisement for those schools? And all those millions of dollars the football programs bring and to top that with the price of tuition, you would think they would want to share the songs with their alumni, current students and fans of those schools. If anyone can help, please do to get those songs back up and available on this site. I am also in the process of adding as many or all of the football schools from the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision). After completion, there will be well over 1,000 total songs for you FREE to download. I will also be reformatting all the music CD’s, moving teams to the correct conference CD and adding all the new schools, even the FCS schools.

    My College Football Fight Music CD/MP3 Store has changed many times over the years as the NCAA Football Conference realignment is a never ending process as money dictates which schools play in the
    (5) major BCS conferences and who play in the other FBS mid-major football conferences. My collection now contains 21 different CD’s, with Volumes 1 & 13 focus on all five of the power five conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, PAC-12, SEC and Notre Dame). These same conferences are also focused on: Volumes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 19, 20 and 14 (alma maters). The mid-major conferences, which now include the AAC, CONF-USA, MAC, MWC an the SUNBELT are representive on Volumes 9, 10, 11, 12 and 15 (alma maters). I also now have different fight music CD’s (Volumes 16, 17 and 18 (alma maters) focusing on the schools from the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision). Of course it is impossible to include all the songs on the CD’s, thats for both the FCS and FBS CD’s, so you can also purchase the individual songs from each college for only $1-$5 each depending on the number of songs I have available.     Panda Free Antivirus

    Panda Free Antivirus is one of many free antivirus programs working to distinguish itself from the herd — and with a history stretching back to 1990, the company has a lot of experience under its belt. In recent years, its focus has shifted to enterprise security, but its home user antivirus program is worth a look.

    Pros

    Scores well in independent tests: In evaluating a mix of behavioral detection and virus signatures, AV-Test and AV-Comparatives indicate that Panda is very good at recognizing what is and isn’t malware, to a degree that puts it in the same league as Kaspersky (Windows. Mac. Android ), Norton (Windows. Android ), and Avira (Windows. Mac. Android. iOS ). While you can never guarantee 100 percent protection, Panda locks things down surprisingly tightly, especially for a free product.

    It doesn’t give you a hard sell: Free antivirus programs frequently dangle bonus features that you need to pay for to unlock, to the point of implying that your protection isn’t “complete” until you do. Panda just puts a banner in the lower left corner of the main window inviting you to upgrade. (It would be nice to see both the monthly and annual subscription displayed; the annual looks like a better deal.)

    Cons

    Installer ignores a user preference: The installer offers “Panda Safe Web” in addition to Panda Free Antivirus; this is a browser security add-on empowered to change your browser’s default search engine and default home page. If you elect to install the add-on but disable those changes, the add-on will make the changes anyway. The only way to revert them is to uninstall the add-on altogether.

    It wants your email address every time you open it: You can skip the account creation step that pops up while installing Panda, but you can’t stop it from continuing to ask for your email address.

    Presentation could use more polish: Text in the interface is jagged, which imparts a dated feel. Icons in the main window have no labels, and only one of them has a tooltip that appears when you hover your pointer over it. The Panda logo lights up when hovered over but does nothing when clicked. The settings don’t explain functions like “USB Protection” or “Process Monitor” for the less technically knowledgeable user.

    Bottom Line

    Panda scores well in independent testing, but in a market as competitive as this one, the user experience could use a friendlier touch to make the software stand out.

    It is lightweight as RAM utilization goes. Upgrades are automatic and transparent. The quick scan is very fast.

    I didn’t really see any obvious cons.

    The previous (2016) version was not a cumbersome anti-virus software, as many anti-virus programs are. It’s utilization of RAM has low overhead (as some reviewers above note), and yet it has provided decent protection over that time, in contrast to other products, that I have used on earlier occasions such as Comodo. It also manages the AV upgrades (which are necessary) transparently. The only reason I am reinstalling the product (after having looked again at AVG and Avast) is Oracle’s (actually Sun Microsystem’s) Java upgrade not only removed the old version of Java that it advised it would do, but it also removed the Panda anti-virus software (executable and all) that was apparently entangled in it from my computer. It is something to be aware of should someone do the very recent Java 8 upgrade that Oracle aggressively pushes because of “security concerns.”

    When you run an antivirus product you don’t want to see it in action. Like sausage, it’s best made behind the scenes. That’s what I like. You don’t know it’s there till you need it.

    I can’t say much here. I’ve read some of the experts who knock its inability in certain areas, but as a single user at home I can’t see it.

    It’s free. And it really works.

    Free. Generally effective. Lightweight

    It has a known bug. BSOD’s caused by their system file nnsprv.sys that they have yet to resolve

    Have used this product for the past couple of years. I’m generally satisfied with it, but the BSOD’s are unacceptable. May have to look elsewhere

    Education, retail, and computer hardware/electronics are the best-performing verticals in email marketing, according to a recent report released by Silverpop that benchmarked open rates, click-through rates, and churn metrics across 14 industries and four geographic regions.

    In addition, top marketers across all industries far outpace their peers with top quartile performers achieving click-through rates nearly four times higher than the median (8.8% compared with 2.3%).

    Among the other findings:

    • Emails sent by top performers in the education vertical had the highest unique open rate (46.1%) and highest click-through rate (12.8%).
    • The healthcare vertical had the best click-to-open rate (33%), which measures click-through rates as a percentage of messages opened.
    • Bottom quartile performers had a hard bounce rate of 6.9%, while top quartile companies experienced a rate of only 0.1%.

    Below, additional email marketing benchmarks and key findings from the 2013 Email Marketing Metrics Study :

    Unique open rate was defined in the report as the percentage of received messages that were opened by one recipient.

    • Consumer products scored the highest open rate among industry verticals, tallying a median 25.4% unique open rate.
    • While median open rates were fairly close across the board, top quartile performers achieved open rates more than four times higher than bottom quartile performers.

    Click-through rate (CTR) was defined as the percentage of delivered email messages that drew at least one click.

    • The education, healthcare, retail and consumer products/services verticals performed the best of the 14 industries studied.

    Hard bounce rate was defined as the percentage of sent messages that failed because the email address didn t exist or the account was closed.

    • Across industries, top quartile performers were very consistent, with all segments falling in the 0.1% to 0.2% range.
    • Top performing companies had hard bounce rates roughly one-seventieth that of bottom performers.

    Unsubscribe rate was defined as the percentage of delivered email messages that generated unsubscribe requests.

    • The best performers had a 0.03% unsubscribe rate across all regions, while the bottom quartile companies had a unsubscribe rate around 0.5%.

    Message size was defined as the size of an email message measured in kilobytes (KB), including all text, images and coding.

    • The majority of companies are keeping messages below 40KB with a median size of 15.9KB.

    About the research: The study examined messages sent in 2012 by Silverpop s client base 2,787 brands from 40 countries across a variety of industries. A broad set of message types was included in the study, from promotional emails and content-based newsletters to notifications and transactional messages.

    What is/are the average list sizes sent to? Doesn’t that have to factor in to the percentages? Obviously a sender who has 1,000 in their send list will have a much higher percentage open rate and click thru rate compared to those who may have 10,000 in their database. I’d like to see the bell curve on list size compared to the above percentages.

    First of all, we want to remind the reader that this is not a Linux distribution! Solaris OS is a UNIX operating system initially developed by Sun Microsystems, and now maintained by Oracle Corporation under the name of Oracle Solaris.

    It is available for download as installable and live ISO images that can be burned onto blank CD discs using any CD/DVD burning software, as well as USB images that allows users to write the operating system to portable USB flash drives.

    Supported architectures include x86 (32-bit) and SPARC (Scalable Processor Architecture). Recommended system requirements include at least 2GB or RAM (system memory) and at least 15GB of free hard disk space.

    Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 is an official add-on from Microsoft that is designed to allow better collaboration and communications between several individuals. At the core, Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 contains an IM and voice call component, with the ability to share desktops and videos between participants. Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 downloads and installs seamlessly.

    Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 integrates with Office tightly and adds to the ways you can share documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other files with others. Sharing is configurable down to the individual user level, so not everyone on a call will have the same permissions, for example. Also, there’s a presence indicator that shows you who is available and what their status is. If someone makes a change to a shared file, that status change shows immediately. At its heart are the IM and call modules, which allow for audio or video calls and messaging between any number of people. You can share your desktop easily, which is a very handy feature. We tried Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 with sharing in a smallish group (up to 20 people), but we could not try it in larger Enterprise environments, so we can’t comment on the scalability and stability with hundreds of people participating.

    It is integrated with Outlook and if you use exchange it can share you availability as far as meetings, etc.

    Microsoft has made their server solutions so cumbersome to implement with existing telephone systems that most organizations choose to simply ignore the built in telephone technology. But, it’s impossible to get Communicator/Lync to just ignore it’s built in telephony so a mis-click causes it to try to dial a number and then pop up 3 error windows saying that feature isn’t configured. Also many of the features that an individual may find useful (like keeping logs of prior IM messages) corporate “powers” may not like individuals to have that ability so many times it’s disabled for the individual but on a corporate level the logs are kept for potential future litigation. In other words it’s used to protect the company, but of no use to an employee attempting to substantiate a IM conversation occurred with say. a manager or supervisor.

    Had the potential to be a nice system if it wasn’t so hampered by Microsoft demanding that they be the center of the universe. Also the ability to manipulate the feature set makes useful things disappear and it just becomes another base IM solution (but it can reflect current availability via exchange/outlook if that is your email solution) For a individual it’s only functional with Office Communications Server/ Lync Server so no use to an individual. Some mention that it’s also included with office 365 but the last thing I want to do is subscribe to office suite (or adobe, etc) The last thing I want to worry about during lean times is trying to pay for monthly subscriptions.

    if this application is running on servers, linked to exchange and managed by a server admin, then yes it does. all conversations can be traced back to your outlook account. under the tab “conversations”, all communications you have using this application will be there.

    this all depends on what parameters your server admin has in place.

    at the time of your post, Communicator 2012 had been released. 2007 R2 is still supported by Microsoft and can run on Server 2008

I work in a company with 2,000+ employees and we use Communicator (or we try to) for text messaging, file sharing (small files between users, rather than larger collaborative sharing for which we use our own company’s software; yes we are a large software company ourselves), voice calls, voice conferences, and one on one screen sharing and conference screen sharing. For a program that is called “Communicator” it makes Communicating pretty darned difficult. Text messaging works 90% of the time, but the other 10% you get (usually minutes after the message has been sent) notification that the server rejected the message or the receipient did not receive it. I don’t think I (or anyone else I know in the company) has successful shared a single file using Communicator. When it comes to voice calls it’s hit and miss. Sometimes we can’t get a connection at all, and other times it works perfectly. When it does work, it works well, but it’s so hit and miss it cannot be relied on. I find I often have to revert to land lines or Skype. Finally, for screen sharing it is like voice calls; hit and miss. For example, last night we had a large conference call. We had people from several countries involved in the call (USA, Germany, Australia, Canada, Pakistan) but the video kept disconnecting different people at different times. For a while there it was working great for me since only other people were getting kicked off, but eventually it caught up to me too. I missed probably 45% of the meeting. Other people missed more. We all agreed we can’t keep using this poor software. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. You’ll regret it otherwise. Lastly, I’m sure the instant rebuttal wil be something along the line of it must be something to do with your internet connection. My answer to that is that this is not just me running into this trouble, it’s everyone I know in my company. Furthermore we do not have these kinds of issues with Skype, LiveMeeting, Outlook or any other communications solution; only Communicator (the software that doesn’t let you Communicate). OK, I’m off to try to sign in to Communicator, but when I right-click the system tray icon and choose “Open”, nothing happens, period. In fact when I right-click and choose “Exit” nothing happens either. This is certainly some truly well engineered software. NOT!

    Found out the hard way that it’s better to start with the telephony solution and look for the feature set you want from the same organization. (avaya, cisco, etc) Microsoft seems set to make things difficult to configure with regard to Lync/Communicator. I actually had a graphic that I downloaded from MS website on how to get everything working together as they promote like it’s simple. The graphic has over 100 connection points and required 6 different servers (plus lync server) Trying to piece a solution together from different vendors never seems to work out the way they would like to promote.

  • KCC borrowers shall be issued an ATM cum Debit card (State Bank Kisan Card), to enable them to withdraw from KCC accounts from ATMs and PoS terminals.
  • KCC will be in the nature of revolving account. Credit balance in the account, if any, to fetch interest at Savings bank rate.

    Processing charges waived for KCC limit up to Rs.3 lacs.

    Collateral security is waived for

    a. limit of up to Rs.1 lac

    b. limit up to Rs.3 lacs for loans with tie-up arrangement for recovery.

    KCC accounts should be renewed annually, well before the above due dates, every year to continue the limit during the KCC validity period of 5 years. Branches shall, therefore, ensure to obtain revival letters before expiry of 3 years wherever applicable, as per the Limitation Act.

    For the purpose of renewal, branches should obtain a simple declaration as per the extant guidelines (about crops raised/ proposed to raise) from the borrowers.     How to File a Grievance

    Patients may request that the Health Safety Net conduct a review of an eligibility determination, or of provider compliance with the Health Safety Net regulation. To file a grievance with the HSN, send a letter to

    1. What is the Health Safety Net?

    The Health Safety Net is a fund set up to help pay for health services for certain low income uninsured and underinsured individuals. The Health Safety Net used to be called the Uncompensated Care Pool (UCP), or Free Care.

    2. Where can I use the Health Safety Net?

    You can use the Health Safety Net at hospitals and community health centers. However, at most hospitals, the doctors bill separately. The Health Safety Net will pay for hospital facility charges (for example beds, nurses, and equipment), but you may have to pay bills for the doctors and for services like lab tests and x-rays. Be sure to check with your doctor first to see if the Health Safety Net will cover all the services you receive, or just some.

    3. How long will I be eligible for the Health Safety Net?

    You may have Health Safety Net eligibility for up to a year, but you may receive review forms before the year is over. If you get review forms or any other forms asking for information, please complete them as soon as possible. If your address, phone number, health insurance, or income changes, you need to call the MassHealth office (1-888-665-9993) immediately to give them your new information.

    4. Do I need to be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for the Health Safety Net?

    You do not need to be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for the Health Safety Net. You do need to live in Massachusetts and provide proof identity. More information can be found in the Member Booklet for Health Coverage and Help Paying Costs (ACA-1) .

    5. What are Health Safety Net Primary and Health Safety Net Secondary?

    If you do not have any other insurance, and qualify based on income, you will have Health Safety Net Primary. If you have other insurance, and qualify based on income, you will get Health Safety Net Secondary. If you have Health Safety Net Secondary, your other insurance will need to be first billed for health services you get before the Health Safety Net is billed.

    6. How do I apply for the Health Safety Net?

    You may apply using the MassHealth application called the Application for Health and Dental Coverage and Help Paying Costs (ACA-3) form. You can get a paper application by calling MassHealth at 1-800-841-2900 or meet the financial counselors at your local hospital or community health center for help with the application.

    7. I have a letter that says I am eligible for ConnectorCare. What happens if I do not enroll in ConnectorCare? Can I still get health services from the Health Safety Net?

    If you have been determined eligible for ConnectorCare, you have 90 days of HSN eligibility starting on your date of application to enroll in a ConnectorCare plan. If you do not enroll within this time period, you will no longer be eligible for HSN.

    8. I have a deductible listed for my Health Safety Net. Where should I send that payment?

    You can pay your deductible to the hospital or community health center after you get services. The hospital or community health center will bill you for the amount that you owe. It is very important to keep track of your payments so that you have a record of when you reach your deductible.

    9. I have Medicare. Am I still eligible for the Health Safety Net?

    Yes, as long as you meet all the eligibility requirements for the Health Safety Net, including income below 400% FPL. The Health Safety Net can pay for services that Medicare does not cover, as long as you get the care at a hospital or community health center. The Health Safety Net pays for your services after Medicare or any other insurance you may have has already been billed.

    10. What are the co-payments for the Health Safety Net?

    Patients ages 21 and older who use the Health Safety Net have to pay co-payments for prescription drugs. The co-payment amounts are $1 for generic drugs in the following drug classes: antihyperglycemics (diabetes drugs), antihypertensives (high blood pressure drugs), and antihyperlipidemics (high cholesterol drugs). The co-payment is $3.65 for other generic drugs and $3.65 for brand-name drugs. There is an annual maximum of $250 per patient on pharmacy co-payments.

    11. Where can I fill my prescriptions with the Health Safety Net?

    HSN has a limited number of CHC or hospital outpatient pharmacies in its network and each requires that your prescription be written by a clinician who works at that affiliated facility. In most cases, you will need to see a doctor at the hospital or community health center where the pharmacy is located in order to have your prescription filled there. The Health Safety Net will not pay for prescriptions you get filled at a local retail pharmacy (for example, CVS, Walgreens, etc.) unless they have a special agreement with a neighboring Community Health Center.

    12. I have private insurance with a high hospital deductible. Am I eligible for the Health Safety Net?

    Yes, as long as you qualify based on your income. Your provider will first bill your insurance for services. Then your provider will bill you for any deductible required for the Health Safety Net. Only afterwards, will the hospital be able to bill the Health Safety Net for the deductible required by your private insurance. The Health Safety Net will pay for deductibles and coinsurance, but not for co-payments required by private insurance plans.

    13. I had ConnectorCare but did not pay my premium. Am I eligible for the Health Safety Net?

    No. Patients who fail to pay their ConnectorCare premiums are not eligible for the Health Safety Net. You may be able to work out a payment plan with the Health Connector, even after termination. Please contact the Health Connector at 1-877-MA-ENROLL for more information.

    Lesson 37: Creating Menus for Your Applications

    The menu bar is the standard feature of most Windows applications. The main purpose of the menus is for easy navigation and control of an application. Some of the most common menu items are File, Edit, View, Tools, Help and more. Each item on the main menu bar also provides a list of options in the form of a pull-down menu. When you create a Visual Basic 6 program, you need not include as many menu items as a full-fledged Windows application. What you need is to include those menu items that can improve the ease of usage by the user. There are two ways to add menus to your application, using the Visual Basic’s Application Wizard and or the menu editor.

    37.1 Adding Menu Bar Using Visual Basic’s Application Wizard

    The easiest way to add a menu bar to your application is by using Visual Basic’s Application Wizard. This wizard allows the user to insert fully customized standard Windows menu into his or her application. To start using Visual Basic’s Application Wizard, click on the Application Wizard icon at the Visual Basic new project dialog box, as shown in Figure 37.1 below:

    When you click on the VB Application wizard, the introduction dialog box will appear, as shown in Figure 37.2. As you are not loading any default setting, just click on the Next button.

    After clicking the Next button, the interface type dialog box will be displayed, as shown in Figure 37.3. There are three choices of interface available for your project. As we currently not creating a Multiple Document Interface (MDI), we choose Single Document Interface (SDI). You can also type the project name in the textbox below, here I am using MyFirstMenu.

    Clicking the Next button wiill bring up a list of menus and submenus that you can add them to your application. Check to select a menu item and uncheck to unselect a menu item as shown in Figure 37.4. Let say we choose all the menus and click next, then you will get an interface comprises File, Edit, View and Help menus, as shown in Figure 37.5

    When you click on any menu item, a list of drop-down submenu items will be displayed. For example, if you click on the File menu, the list of submenu items such as New, Open, Save, Save As and more will be displayed, as shown in Figure 37.6

    Clicking on any of the dropped down menu item will show the code associated with it, and this is where you can modify the code to suit your programming needs. For example, clicking on the item Open will reveal the following code:

    Now, I will show you how to modify the code in order to open a graphic file and display it in an image box. For this program, you have to insert a Image box into the form. Next add the following lines so that the user can open graphic files of different formats.

    Also set the Stretch property of the Image box to true so that the image loaded can resize by itself. Please note that each menu item is a special control, so it has a name too. The name for the menu File in this example is mnuFileOpen.

    The Code

    When you run the program and click on the File menu and then the submenu Open, the following Open dialog box will be displayed, where you can look for graphic files of various formats to load it into the image box.

    For example, selecting the jpeg file will allow you to choose the images of jpeg format, as shown in Figure 37.9.

    To start adding menu items to your application, open an existing project or start a new project, then click on Tools in the menu bar of the Visual Basic IDE and select Menu Editor. When you click on the Menu Editor, the Menu Editor dialog will appear. In the Menu Editor dialog. key in the first item File in the caption text box. You can use the ampersand ( ) sign in front of F so that F will be underlined when it appears in the menu, and F will become the hot key to initiate the action under this item by pressing the Alt key and the letter F. After typing File in the Caption text box, move to the name textbox to enter the name for this menu item, you can type in mnuFile here. Now, click the Next button and the menu item File will move into the empty space below, as shown in Figure 37.11:

    You can then add in other menu items on the menu bar by following the same procedure, as shown in Figure 37.12 below:

    When you click Ok, the menu items will be shown on the menu bar of the form.

    Now, you may proceed to add the sub menus. In the Menu Editor, click on the Insert button between File and Exit and then click the right arrow key, and the dotted line will appear. This shows the second level of the menu, or the submenu. Now key in the caption and the name. Repeat the same procedure to add other submenu items. Here, we are adding New, Open, Save, Save As and Exit.

    Now click the OK button and go back to your form. You can see the dropped down submenus when you click on the item File, as shown.

    The Cheyenne codebase has been moved from svn/Googlecode to git/Github. The change was made to simplify contributions to Cheyenne, and to regroup my open source projects at the same place (like Red and CureCode ).

    In the process of changing the backend building scripts to support git, we also extended the supported platforms for automated builds, we now supports Windows and Mac OSX. in addition to Linux. The new builds are generated twice a day, if new commits are found in the master branch.

    Thanks very much to Tamas Herman for helping with the scripts coding and providing the Mac OSX machine, and thanks to the HackJam hackerspace group from Hong-Kong for the hosting!

    Thanks to the kind sponsoring of Alan Macleod, Cheyenne now has a module for handling Cross Origin Resource Sharing protocol, basically allowing Javascript to make requests to another domain than the one the script originated from.

    In order to use the new mod-cors module, you need to:

    1. Uncomment the cors module line in global section of the httpd.cfg config file.
    2. Add at least one allow-cors directive in a virtual host settings block.

    28-Nov-2011 – Websocket support upgraded to hybi-10 [0030 ]

    The websocket communication protocol is quite a moving target, it changes several times a year, sometimes breaking compatibility with previous revisions. Cheyenne is now up-to-date and supports the last RFC revision (named “hybi-10”), starting from Cheyenne revision 155.

    All protocol features have been implemented but some are not tested yet, as they require a custom-made client (the Javascript websocket API does not support those features yet AFAICT):

    • Ping/pong frames
    • Fragmented frames

    The server-side user API has been left untouched, a ping command might be added later though. The websocket chat demo has been upgraded too and now supports Chrome 14+, FF8+ and IE10.

    I have been invited a couple of days ago at PHP Tour 2011 event in Lille (France) to make a presentation of Cheyenne to the PHP community and demonstrate Cheyenne ability to interface with a PHP FastCGI server and serve PHP generated content. I had a great time with developers from PHP community and enjoyed great presentations from Zend engineers about their famous framework and cryptography support in PHP.

Some also believe that children with autism restrict their own intake, because they prefer bland food like white bread. Children with autism, according to the theory, process peptides and proteins in foods containing gluten and casein differently than other people do. Hypothetically, this difference in processing may exacerbate autistic symptoms. Some believe that the brain treats these proteins like false opiate-like chemicals. The reaction to these chemicals, they say, leads a child to act in a certain way. The idea behind the use of the diet is to reduce symptoms and improve social and cognitive behaviors and speech.

    There may be some scientific merit to the reasoning behind a gluten-free/casein-free diet. Researchers have found abnormal levels of peptides in bodily fluids of some people who have symptoms of autism. Still, the effectiveness of a GFCF diet for autism has not been supported by medical research; in fact, a review of recent and past studies concluded there is a lack of scientific evidence to say whether this diet can be helpful or not.

    Unfortunately, eliminating all sources of gluten and casein is so difficult that conducting randomized clinical trials in children may prove to be very difficult.

    Which foods contain gluten?

    Gluten is a mix of various proteins found in the seeds of several grains such as barley, rye, and wheat. A huge number of foods contain gluten. Gluten provides structure or binding to baked products. While it’s quite difficult to avoid gluten, many stores, particularly natural food stores, display foods in a gluten-free area of the store. Still, it’s important to read nutrition labels to see if there are additives containing gluten.

    When someone is on a gluten-free diet, most bread and grain products are forbidden. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the child (or other person) receives ample fiber, vitamins. and minerals. Supplementation can help make up for the lack of these nutrients when foods containing gluten are eliminated.

    Which foods contain casein?

    Casein is a protein found in dairy products and other foods containing dairy or lactose. Even foods proclaiming to be dairy-free or lactose-free contain casein. Because many soy products and imitation dairy products also contain casein, it’s important to read labels carefully when following a strict casein free diet.

    Because the GFCF diet for autism restricts dairy products, you’ll need to make sure the child’s diet has other good sources of calcium and vitamin D. Both are necessary for strong bones and teeth. Talk with your child’s doctor about fortified foods and/or supplementation to avoid any nutritional deficiencies.

    Are there tips for eating at home or eating out on a gluten-free/casein-free diet?

    There are a large number of online retailers who specialize in food products for people following the GFCF diet. Some parents make GFCF food in large quantities and freeze portions for a later meal.

    Before making the change to a GFCF diet, consult your child’s doctor. A licensed dietitian can educate you about the GFCF diet and help you tailor the diet to your child’s health needs and taste preferences.

    In addition, before starting a child with autism on a gluten-free/casein-free diet, beware the hidden sources of gluten. Gluten can be found in fried foods that are dusted in flour, and even in cosmetics. Whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, and nuts may be safe. But avoid using packaged mixes because there may be traces of foods containing gluten that are not listed on the nutrition label.

    Some restaurants are now categorized as GFCF-friendly. If you are concerned, ask the manager or server to show you a list of ingredients used in the establishment to make sure its dishes are gluten- and casein-free. Vegetarian/vegan restaurants are accustomed to serving people on special diets and may be more willing to prepare dishes that adhere to the restrictions of a strict GFCF diet.
