Ireland Hotels – Cheap Hotels in Ireland, last minute hotel deals ireland.#Last

Ireland Hotels

Ireland is famed for the warmth of its welcome, the rich and varied nature of its landscapes, the longevity of its cultural traditions and its love of a good time. World-class museums and attractions await in Dublin, together with time-honoured pubs and a vibrant nightlife. Or escape to County Kerry and looming mountains, sparkling lakes and rolling green fields. Grab a pair of boots and hike into the bleak beauty of the Wicklow Mountains or hire a bike and cycle County Clare’s coastline.

Things to see and do

Be dazzled by the Book of Kells, more than 1,000 years old and one of the most beautifully illustrated manuscripts in the world, at Trinity College, Dublin. Visit the medieval castle and cathedral and make a date with the boys with the black stuff at the Guinness Storehouse, a shrine to Ireland’s favourite tipple. Explore Celtic and medieval art at the National Museum of Ireland.

Jump in the car and journey the Ring of Kerry, a 179km circuit that takes in medieval ruins, lakes and mountains, pretty villages, pristine beaches and Atlantic breakers, and a spectacular drive. It can be done in day but you may stop for the night somewhere en route. Cruise down the River Liffey, a 45-minute exploration of Dublin, or take a traditional Irish music pub crawl through the capital.

Swim with Fungie, a Bottlenose Dolphin, which began befriending Dingle fishermen in the 1980s. The Dingle Boatmen’s Association runs a daily two-hour boat trip. Try your hand at watersports such as sailing, or surf off Bundoran. And make a splash indoors at the National Aquatic Centre.

Arts and culture

Make a beeline for the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin which holds more than 2,500 paintings including work by Caravaggio, Goya, Rubens and Breughel, among others. Take in a play at one of Dublin’s theatres including the Abbey, Gate and Gaiety. Steep yourself in Dublin’s literary heritage on a pub tour with a difference and walk with the likes of Beckett, Yeats and Joyce.

Eating and drinking

Ireland’s cuisine is centred on first-class, locally sourced fish, meat and dairy produce. Whether you’re looking for good pub grub or international cuisine, Ireland has something to suit every taste and pocket. For something special, dine out at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud in Dublin. This two-starred Michelin winner offers fine French cooking. Or try Jack’s Coastguard Restaurant housed in a former coastguard station off coastal Killorglin for scrumptious seafood and great sea views.

Nightlife

You’ll find plenty of craic and traditional music at many destinations across the Emerald Isle but Dublin is undoubtedly where the biggest choice of nightlife is. For great pubs try Café en Seine with its 19th-century Parisian in décor, or Zanzibar with its Indian Ocean ambience. For something more traditional, raise a pint at The Cobblestone, a Mecca for traditional, bluegrass and country music.

For nightclubs, sample The Wright Venue, Sahara or The Palace, as seen in The Commitments.

Shopping

For upmarket shopping head to Westbury Mall, Dublin. Or browse the area around Henry Street and Grafton Street.

I was really looking forward to staying here after seeing the Gleneagles documentary. It looked great.

But I stayed here for while I was working a couple weeks ago, and I was very disappointed. Check in was very chaotic and confusing and took ages. There were numerous groups of tourists around, all looking for directions to different parts of the hotel.

My hotel room was nothing like what was advertised on the website. It was really old, decrepit with seriously squeaky floorboards. The hall on the way to my room was littered with Ironing boards and trays full of dirty dishes. The bath/shower was awfully narrow and not comfortable. However it was clean; wifi was good; and good selections of channels on the TV. It was however seriously noisy, and again, the floorboards were so creaky – who ever was in the next room woke me up in the middle of the night when they got up to use the bathroom.

Room Service was inedible one night, and I ended up going out after it to get some food. The second night we went down to O’D’s, but there was a really bad smell of cooking oil that both of us recoiled and went to the hotel next door.

The decor down stairs was nice, and the swimming pool looked o.k. There was a childrens show on, which the kids were loving (and my child would have adored)- but Captain Jack was the sadest looking captain I have ever seen.

Breakfast was adequate.

Checking out was equally chaotic, with issues on our bills they weren’t able to rectify. Even though it had been pointed out to them before we paid.

All in all, I would never stay here again. Perhaps it might be better for families – but I wouldn’t stay here with mine.

GlenGuestRelations, Guest Relations Manager at Gleneagle Hotel, responded to this review

We are genuinely saddened to read your review on your recent visit and to hear your stay was not as expected and that you felt this way about the hotel.

We are a bustling hotel and yes we have had days that have been extremely busy for check ins especially when a lot of guests all arrive at the same time however this is not something we can foresee and can only manage it and do the best that we can in trying to make all our guests feel as welcome as the next. I understand this can be overwhelming to some people on arrival however we are a large Hotel and there will always be guests looking for directions and advice on where to go and what to do this is expected in the height of the peak season.

We are sorry that you were let down with overall experience and we are disappointed that you never asked to speak to a Manager about any of issues while you were here or give us the opportunity to rectify and ensure that you left with a more pleasant experience.

I am sure if you did decided to return at a stage that is perhaps not in the height of Family Peak Season that you would enjoy a more relaxed and pleasant stay. Should you ever wish to contact me directly please do not hesitate and I will be happy to look after you.

Kindest Regards

Absolute Hotel (Limerick, Ireland): Hotel Reviews, Prices – Photos #hospice #cost

#absolute hotel limerick

This hotel is average but the prices are super . It is much more expensive than the Strand and Savoy but not of the same high standard. Limerick has a great surplus of hotel rooms. So check around. Excellent value can be had for €70+. This place now needs to be upgraded. Worn shabby carpets and disinterested bar staff weaken its appeal. It’s location is not great either in a city where you are conscious of such things and if you cancel in advance they will try and charge you for the privilege. With their present prices it’s one good reason why VAT should not be reduced for hotels. They don’t pass savings to the customer.

DonnachaGM, General Manager at Absolute Hotel, responded to this review

Its really disappointing to get feedback like this. Sorry.
After taking the time to read the review I feel that the writing is very emotive so I can clearly see you are upset.
I’ll take on board any feedback but it is important to ensure that all reviews are fair to all concerned. We take complaints very seriously and I’ve not been able to identify if you spoke to any duty manager at the hotel to highlight your issues and give us a chance to remedy regarding the carpet or staff interactions.
The pricing policy we operate is clear and we feel we give value for money. Sometimes we are slightly more expensive or indeed cheaper than the completion but we price based on demand and availability as always the guest will decide. We have no hidden extras and even have free car parking available. For example as I write this the strand is €25 more expensive and the Savoy is €34 more expensive than us.
Location is of course subjective so point taken there.
The cancellation policy is very clearly communicated and is not there to catch anyone out. If you book an advance purchase rate for example, it is cheaper and a condition is that you can’t cancel it but if you book another rate it is fully cancellable up to 3pm on the day prior to arrival.
Regarding the VAT rate we have greatly benefited from this initiative. It has helped the business to be more viable and to consequently employ more people and invest in our product ie we now have Nespresso machines in all our rooms for example. I suppose to be very clear if VAT goes up, it will be impossible for the hotel to absorb, so we will have to either employ less people or purchase less in the open economy or pass on to the consumer. Neither is something I would be in favour of doing but for certain something would have to happen if the VAT rate changes.
However, that is out of my control and all I can do is to try be a good employer and a good hotelier looking after my guests so they are happy.
We’ve clearly missed with you on this occasion and that makes me sad as a business manager but I have to dust myself off and drive on.

Regards
Donnacha Hurley
General Manager

Great first impressions

Hotel staff were lovely from the moment we arrived. Double room was slightly dated but immaculately clean. The staff in the leisure centre and spa were so accommodating and my treatments were top quality. Only criticism was my first treatment was close to spa reception so could hear phones ringing and staff chatting. Was there on a groupon deal so for what I paid for I couldn’t fault. Again bar staff were lovely and chatty and make good recommendations for places to go and we ended up seeing some of the staff after their shift in one of the pubs they recommended! Food was good pub grub and good selection at breakfast. Didn’t get a chance to eat in the other restaurant. Really positive experience and I would definitely go back,

However there was one bright light and that being the waiter Aaron. A real shinning light. this young man was very attentive and professional and would resolve other staffs mistakes without a bat of an eye lid. He also had a great personality and good sense of humour, something that can be lost with new inexperienced staff in our industry by trying to be too professional. Had it not been for Aaron our night would have been extremely depressing. He is what was the type of great character our fine hospitality industry was built on and is famous throughout the world for.
Look after this young man as he is an asset to the hotel

Great entrance close to Irish national stud and Japanese gardens. Nice foyer and rooms are comfortable. Bistro bar/restaurant is large and the weekend we were there, the service, while friendly was scant as there were not enough staff. We were in no hurry, so all was good, but we did comment on it.
Overall though, we had a nice stay and the kids enjoyed the pool too. Would we go back. Yeah, I think we would. We had a really enjoyable time 🙂

This hotel is right around the corner from the coach station, next door to the Grand Opera House Theatre, so it was so handy for us.

It is a 5 star hotel and it is easy to see why. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had to ask for directions quite a few times but they never got impatient and they went out of their way to assist us.

We didn’t have food in the restaurant, but we had cocktails and although they hadn’t mentioned ‘Mocktails – non-alcoholic cocktails’ on the menu, there was no hassle at all when I asked for some to be prepared. They even used a fancy martini glass 🙂

The bedroom was stunning – we had a twin room and the beds were very roomy. There were a few different types of pillows (feather, hypoallergenic, etc) and there was a little information booklet stating that if we wanted different types of pillow, they would accommodate us.

There was also a sofa in our room, which was handy for packing to go home!!

The bathroom was lush – massive rain shower AND a bath. and, the best thing of the whole lot, in my opinion, is that the little toiletries were Cruelty-Free and Vegan. You *almost never* get both options but this really made me smile. Most hotels ask that you let them know if you need new towels each day, but to have such an ethical stance as to provide cruelty-free toiletries that had ‘no animal derivitives’ was just amazing 🙂 leaping bunny symbol and all.

10 out of 10 for this amazing hotel. Can’t wait to book my next stay 🙂

    ABOUT HAU

HOSPICE AFRICA UGANDA (HAU) was Founded in 1993 and provides support and care to those dying from cancer and HIV/AIDS. HAU’s mission is to bring peace through relief of suffering and create a palliative care model for all of Africa – which is affordable and culturally acceptable.

Deo and Dr. Dorothy during mentorship reviewing a complicated case on morphine

Hospice Uganda Africa operates three care centres Kampala, Mbarara and Hoima. They provide palliative care for patients with Cancer or HIV, with clinics for patients who are well enough to travel and a day care centre. Home care teams leave the hospice centres each day to visit the patients who are too unwell to make the journey to the centre.

Kampala is the centre of operations and incorporates the Education and International Programs. Hospice Uganda now employs over 120 medical and support staff and supports over 1000 patients every month.

Numbers of Patients receiving palliative care in HUA Hospices in Kampala, Mbarara and Hoima.

Monthly trends in total patient numbers

57% of people in Uganda do not access a health worker but now they can access palliative care through our growing countrywide network of trained community volunteers. These volunteers identify those who need our care when critically ill or at the end of life. The volunteers provide some basic care and work closely with district health workers we have trained in palliative care.

Care is provided mainly in people’s own homes and at roadside clinics. Using a model first introduced for controlling pain at childbirth, specially trained nurses can prescribe morphine. They also support patients in self administration of pain control. The care is specialized and time consuming in order to provide freedom from pain and give impeccable relief for all symptoms. HAU also provides counseling and spiritual support to the patient and family.

    Mbarara Hospice memorial service.

Our three hospices provide not just palliative care but also leadership and there are now five other free standing Hospices and District teams. Another 1500 patients get pain relief from medical staff trained by hospice Uganda.

We estimate that a further 20,000 may be looked after by those we have trained and are working in health facilities and other Hospices in Uganda. Those professionals we have trained at HAU are working now in 82 of our 112 Districts. They are followed up and given further training in conjunction with Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU).

IRA survivors and families speak out on McGuinness: BBC News #ira #ireland

    #

IRA survivors and families speak out on McGuinness:

Martin McGuinness lived a life of two halves.

Those who lost loved ones, or were injured in the IRA’s bombing campaigns, harbour painful memories.

But some say the pain has been soothed by McGuinness’ recent legacy and his willingness to compromise for peace in Northern Ireland.

“Martin McGuinness’ fingerprints were all over the Troubles, but they were also all over the peace process,” said a man who lost his wife to an IRA bomb.

Alan McBride’s wife, Sharon, was one of 10 people who died in the Shankill bomb, Belfast, in October 1993.

Others who suffered at the hands of the IRA were less forgiving.

Lord Tebbit said Martin McGuinness was a coward.

Media caption Lord Tebbit said Martin McGuinness was “a coward, a murderer”

“The reason he suddenly became a man of peace, was that he was desperately afraid that he was going to be arrested and charged with a number of murders,” he said.

Lord Tebbit was one of those injured by an IRA bomb in Brighton’s Grand Hotel in 1984. His wife was left paralysed in the attack.

“It’s not merely that these creatures crippled my wife, but they also murdered five of my close friends.

“I only hope that his death will help to bring some sort of closure to those families and friends of those whose murders he accomplished.”

Image copyright PA Image caption Jo Berry lost her father in the Brighton bombing, but she saw Martin McGuinness as key to the peace process

However, Jo Berry, whose father was killed in the Brighton bombing, does not share that view.

“For me it’s about empathy. My passion is how we create peace – moving from blame to empathy,” she said.

“Martin McGuinness’ work was absolutely essential in securing peace.

Media playback is unsupported on your device

Media caption Colin Parry: “I don’t forgive Martin. I don’t forgive the IRA”

“It’s because people like him have sat down with their enemies that we have peace today.”

Ann Travers’ sister, Mary, died in an IRA gun attack outside a church in south Belfast in 1984. The target of the ambush was their father, Tom, a resident magistrate, who was badly injured in the shooting.

She said on hearing of Mr McGuinness’ death: “My immediate thoughts were sadness for the families of Enniskillen and Claudy, Patsy Gillespie’s widow and Frank Hegarty’s family and Joanne Mathers’ husband and children, because I feel that they now won’t get any of the answers that they so richly deserve.

“There is a severe affliction of Troubles amnesia. Martin McGuinness was part of a terrorist organisation which catastrophically destroyed and changed lives forever.”

    Image copyright Nuala Mccann

She said that he later moved to a political agenda could only be welcomed, “but I’m just filled with sadness that he decided to pick up the gun in the first place”.

She added: “Up until Martin McGuinness died he still justified the actions of the IRA, he was on record as saying that he lived by the green book of the IRA, his loyalty would be to the IRA until the day he died and so it was.

“So I see that, unlike Nelson Mandela, who whenever he left prison condemned all murder, from every side, including his own and said none of it was ever justified at all, Martin McGuinness was never able to do that.”

Alan McBride took a different stance.

Despite the bombing that robbed him of his wife, he said the death of the former deputy first minister was “a huge loss” and that he had shown “courage and leadership,” in the peace process.

Image caption Johnathan Ball, three, and Tim Parry, 12, died in the Warrington bombs

Colin Parry’s 12-year-old son, Tim, was killed when two IRA bombs exploded in Warrington in 1993 .

“I don’t forgive Martin nor the IRA and nor does my wife and children,” he said.

But he added that he found Mr McGuinness “an easy and pleasant man to talk to”.

Media playback is unsupported on your device

Media caption Martin McGuinness ‘entered government an unrepentant terrorist’

“He was a man who, I believe, was sincere in his desire for peace and to maintain the peace process at all costs,” he said.

Image caption Twenty-one people were killed and 182 injured when IRA bombs exploded at two city centre pubs on the night of 21 November 1974

“He deserves great credit for his recent life – rather than his earlier life for which I don’t think anything in his recent life can atone.

“He was still a brave man who put himself at some risk within some elements of his own community in Northern Ireland.”

Julie Hambleton, whose sister was among 21 people killed in the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings. feels that a chance to get to the truth about what happened that day has disappeared.

“With his death, the truth is buried,” she said.

Image copyright PA Image caption Enniskillen in the aftermath of the Poppy Day bombing

Stephen Gault whose father, Samuel ,was one of 11 people killed in the 1987 Enniskillen “Poppy Day” bomb, said he would remember Mr McGuinness only as a “terrorist”.

“If he had been repentant, my thoughts might have been slightly different,” he said.

“But he took to his grave, proud that he served in the IRA. There was no remorse or repentance from him even up to his death.”

That view was echoed by Margaret Veitch, whose parents were also killed in Enniskillen.

“They died at the hands of the IRA in Enniskillen and it’ll be 30 years and nobody has ever been brought to justice. Martin McGuinness was implicated in it and he’ll go to his grave with secrets.

“I’m really sad today because of all of the innocent victims that will never get justice.”

Kenny Donaldson, a spokesperson for campaign group Innocent Victims United, added that victims had been “denied accountability” by Mr McGuinness.

“Surely, if there was a conversion within him, that if he was genuinely understanding of the futility of the past, then he needed to account for what those individuals are going through.”

Image caption The chief constable said Martin McGuinness believed in a better future

PSNI Chief Constable George Hamilton presides over a police service that suffered heavy losses in IRA attacks during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

He said society had suffered grievously and many police officers and their families were among those affected.

“Martin McGuinness believed in a better future for our community; and this is a vision shared by policing,” he said.

“Martin’s journey in life challenges all of us who care about the future; to be prepared to change; to demonstrate leadership; and to work to understand the world, not just from our own perspective, but from the perspectives of everyone in our community.”

Image copyright PA Image caption Jean McConville with three of her children before she was abducted by the IRA in 1972

Michael McConville is the son of Jean McConville, one of the Disappeared – she was taken from her home by the IRA in 1972, murdered and secretly buried. Her body was found on a beach in the Republic of Ireland in 2003.

“The IRA came to our flat in Divis flats and came and took my mother out,” he said.

    Image copyright Nuala Mccann

“Twenty-seven years later, we were still looking for her body. They murdered my mother and buried her for so many years.

“The hardest part was not knowing where our mother was. These people took our mother away and these people killed our mother and these people belonged to the IRA.”

At the same time, he recognised McGuinness’ role in brokering peace.

“Martin McGuinness tried to do a lot for the troubles in Northern Ireland, I will say that about him,” he said.

Image caption John Taylor, Lord Kilclooney, said Martin McGuinness was a peacemaker

“He tried his best with the politics, I would say that about the man. He went from one extreme to another.”

Former Ulster Unionist MP, Lord Kilclooney – John Taylor – who survived a murder attempt by the Official IRA, said: “As a victim of an IRA assassination attempt when I was minister of home affairs in Northern Ireland in 1972, I obviously watched the political progress of Martin McGuinness closely.

“He had an evil past, but became a peacemaker – of that I have no doubt.”

“I extend my condolences to his family circle at this time but I look in despair at Sinn Féin for someone with the same leadership qualities as Martin McGuinness”.

Alan McBride was clear on his view. Despite his loss in the Shankill bombing, he said Martin McGuinness was pivotal to peace.

Northern Ireland “owes a debt of gratitude” to him, he said.

Stayed we for our 20th anniversary. We had stayed on our honeymoon and I suppose wanted to recapture the moment. Bad decision. Hotels needs a complete makeover. Also the food in the dinning room tastes blank. I had fish, my husband had chicken but they both tasted the same. It was horrible. Sorry Ardilaun but would definitely not recommend this. More

Slieve Donard (via the Glen River) – Northern Ireland s Highest Peak

    #slieve donard hotel

    #

    Slieve Donard (via Glen River)

    Route Description

Leave the car park in Donard Park heading towards the mountain and follow the Glen River uphill through old woodland of Scots Pine, Oak and Birch. At the first of 3 bridges, cross to the opposite bank.

Continue uphill through the forest, above a deep cut riverbed, for about 400m until another bridge is reached. The riverbank overhangs along this section so extra care is needed.

At this point cross back to the left hand side and resume journey uphill through the trees.

At the next bridge continue across the forest road and onto the rough track heading up towards the mountains, with thick forest on right (fenced), until a gate and stile is reached.

Cross the stile and follow the track above the river for about 2kms, heading towards the saddle between Donard and Commedagh.

At this point, the path crosses the river and continues uphill to the ‘Saddle’ where it meets the Mourne Wall.

At the Mourne Wall turn left and follow the wall steeply uphill towards the summit.

From the summit return by the same route, staying close to the wall until the Saddle is reached again. The cliffs on the north side of Donard known as Eagle Rocks should be avoided by walkers since the approaches are steep.

Return to Donard Park following the line of the Glen River.

    Getting to the Start

Follow the one way system to the south end of Newcastle main street. Donard Car Park has ample parking.

    Accessibility Grade

Managed to get to the top of Slieve Donard today. Still some snow against the wall.loads of couples climbing which was nice to see. It is also such a really quite place when the large groups have disappeared. Went from bloody bridge, first time so I do not know the Newcastle car park route. I decided against fell running it and it took me 7.20 11.10kms. my pace trebles backwards once I hit a hill. The view at the top was amazing, the sea was flat calm, Dublin, the sugar loaf, Scotland, isle of Man and Belfast and all the surrounding mountains visible. Although there are boggy areas, I do not know if boots which pull the legs off you are better than a decent pair of trainers, runners or gutties depending where you are from

My first ever proper hill/mountain walk, and my 47 year old knees are showing their age. The forest stage at the start is tougher than you would imagine, the next section is fine, the hike to the saddle isn’t easy and the final ascent along the wall required a good few short breaks. That being said, it was a wonderful experience filled with fabulous views and friendly hikers. I had hoped for a bit of cloud to move in as I reached the summit and the weather didn’t let me down. It went from clear skies to a downpour and 20m visibility in a heartbeat. Very glad to have decent waterproof clothing in the rucksack. All in all a great day. I will be back.

Wedding – stay in knightsbrook hotel – Review of Knightsbrook Hotel –

I was bridesmaid at my cousins wedding in March. The hotel staff were amazing. We had bar food the evening before the wedding and the service was top class. The manager of the wedding reception and the food was excellent. The swimming pool was very good too. On the downside, food and accommodation was expensive. We could hear noise from the corridor and there was a lot of doors banging. All staff were friendly apartment from receptionists

What can i say about the knightsbrook! Im in love, we had looked up wedding venues online and i just couldnt find any better then the knightsbrook. We went for a nosey and a spot of dinner in the bar (which did great food) and to my luck there was a wedding on upon seen everything set up i knew it was for me so booked an appointment with sinead and what can i say shes fantastic told us everything we needed to know and showed us around! Suprise suprise we booked our wedding in the knightsbrook. Cant wait to be back in this amazing hotel.

The team and I look forward to working with you and seeing you soon at Knightsbrook

Why o why o why do you not have bathroom facilities in your function room. attended a wedding here recently and found this strange, you will need to know 5 minutes in advance that you need the bathroom as you have to leave the room and go way down a hall to go to use the facilities. Plus you are in trim not temple bar,why do you charge so much for your alcohol.

Patrick C, General Manager at Knightsbrook Hotel Golf Resort, responded to this review

Thank you for sharing your comments on the location of the toilet facilities of Knightsbrook Hotel. I have just measured that it is 15 yards to the toilets from our main function room. I believe that most recently built establishments would have their toilets located out of the function room nowadays for privacy.

Disappointing customer service at Knigtsbrook Hotel

    Bernie M (5 reviews)

Our family arrived at the Knightsbrook Hotel on Wed. 29th Oct. for a one-night, eagerly awaited stay. The children were especially looking forward to spending the afternoon in the swimming pool. On arrival, we were informed that the swimming pool was closed for the day, due to a health and safety incident. We were offered the use of a local swimming pool from 6pm-8pm and the use of the sauna/steam room on site. That was of no benefit to our children for the afternoon. As the package we had booked was not now available (no swimming pool for the afternoon), we asked for a discount. We were refused, citing that we were already on a ‘special’ rate. We had been quoted €275 B B for three adults and three children for one night, however the point was that what we had signed up to was not available and that we should not have had to suffer from the lack of facilities. We enquired why we were not phoned before we left home, as we could have made other arrangements, but did not receive a satisfactory answer. We asked to escalate our request for a discount, but the hotel manager was off site and there was nobody to speak to beyond the reception manager. To add insult to injury, when we called to the local leisure centre later in the day, we found this would not have been available to us at 6pm. There were lessons taking place and the children would not have been able to enter the pool until 6.30pm. We left the Knightsbrook disappointed and humiliated. Would not recommend this hotel.

Patrick C, General Manager at Knightsbrook Hotel Golf Resort, responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments following your brief visit to Knightsbrook Hotel. I understand that as with the majority of guests staying with us over the mid term, the swimming pool would have played a large part in the activities of most at Knightsbrook Hotel. Unfortunately shortly before you arrived to check in with us, an incident occurred in the pool which meant we had to take health and safety measures for other guests. We did our very best to try to have the pool re-opened but unfortunately the procedures did not permit this for 24 hours

As you were advised we did offer an alternative by providing access to the local pool in the town, however times were restricted here as they close the pool to the public during lessons. While I agree that this was not as convenient as having use of the pool facilities on site – we did our very best by offering this at a cost to ourselves.

You had three rooms booked at a cost of €273 which included breakfast and accommodation for 3 adults and 3 children – this was a Special Offer which was available last week and therefore there was no reduction on this rate as a result of the pool not being available.
I was not on duty on the day you visited the hotel, however I did speak with our Front Office Manager at the time – who is more than capable, as were other Heads of Department with dealing with matters that arise in my absence. It is a shame that you chose not to stay with us at Knightsbrook Hotel and therefore had a disappointing day. This is the first time in the 8 years we have been open at Knightsbrook that the pool has closed beyond our control– indeed the timing was less than perfect for us a team and I appreciate all the efforts they took in my absence to deal with the situation.

I believe we offered a suitable alternative to all of our guests.

Kind Regards, Patrick Curran, General Manager
