Jeudi 29 juin a eu lieu la cinquième Soirée des partenaires de l’école, organisée par le service des Relations industrielles. L’événement a rassemblé environ quatre-vingt personnes, industriels, représentants du secteur économique régional, universitaires et étudiants.

Une table-ronde, animée par Fabien SOULIÉ, enseignant-chercheur, a abordé le thème de « La fabrication additive dans les applications industrielles, citoyennes, de la recherche et de la formation ».

Stéphane ABED, président de la société Poly shape, Yann LEFEBVRE, président du FabLab « LabSud », André CHRYSOCHOOS, directeur du centre PRO3D et Christian JORGENSEN, professeur au CHU de Montpellier et directeur de l’unité INSERM “Cellules souches, plasticité cellulaire, médecine régénératrice et immunothérapies”, sont intervenus pour partager leurs expériences et échanger sur les applications de ces technologies.

Les diverses interventions des invités ont permis de montrer le spectre très large des champs d’applications de ces nouvelles techniques de mise en œuvre de la matière, allant de l’industrie de pointe à la recherche médicale avancée, sans oublier les applications standardsaccessibles à tous ” précise Fabien Soulié.

Les présentations ont aussi su faire ressortir toutes les étapes de la démarche de conception, de dimensionnement et d’optimisation, préalables à la phase d’impressionproprement dite ” ajoute André Chrysochoos, concluant que “la fabrication additive est apparue aux participants comme une solution complémentaire aux techniques classiques de fabrication, mais possédant ses propres limites “.

Control Fire Systems has everything our company needs. We called them and inquired about their products and had them install fire suppression, marine fire systems, fire alarm panels, fire alarm devices, fire extinguishers and fire safety products. I highly recommend them to everyone.

Control Fire System came on time for our scheduled quote on refilling our clean agent cylinder. They did a fast and efficient job and also provided cylinder hydrostatic testing and emergency cylinder recharges in case of any emergencies in the future. This is something like the fifth or sixth time we’ve used them and it’s always gone well. We’ll look forward to having CFS come back in future.

We purchased a fire alarm from you guys, for some out buildings where we run repair work. Recently, we had a small fire and the fire alarm detected it immediately and alerted my staff. Great to see a product working as it’s supposed to.

Your team of technicians and staff was a pleasure to do business with from the initial sales call through to the final briefing after installation. We had a close call last year and I can tell you that everyone on our end is feeling better with the new fire suppression systems in place.

They replaced a fire control panel for us this summer and I just wanted to pass on a compliment on how quickly I got a response and had the techs come out. We did the usual three quotes and Control Fire was easily the most responsive. It was very reassuring and the integration went seamlessly. We’ll be updating the rest of the systems in steps and now know who to call.

I manage maintenance at a nearly 10,000 sqf facility in the east end and Control Fire Systems is contracted to check out our systems twice annually. They’ve done some fan air testing as well as the fire systems and everything has been in order since I started here. I recommend to any plant manager getting into a regular contract situation with a reputable company like this one. It’s great piece of mind.

Whenever one of our larger commercial units changes hands, expands, renovates, etc. I call in Control Fire Systems. They assess and do upgrades and repairs where necessary which actually adds to the bottom line if a sale is involved. One of the great tricks of property management is being sure you’re not getting gouged by contractors downstream and having these guys onboard has been a great relief in that regard. It’s a partnership I plan to continue to take advantage of.

I wasn’t involved in the sales negotiation as the property management handled that but I can tell you that in terms of implementation they were wonderful to work with. We had accounting and other non-tech people in on the first meetings and Control Fire Systems was really able to capture the specifics and timelines in a way we could all grasp. I feel better knowing the care home is as safe as can be.

Our office building purchased Control Fire Services portable extinguishers a few years ago. We had them do a fire extinguisher inspection, refill (we have actually needed that!), repair and recharge. Impressed with the 6-year fire extinguisher maintenance if anything goes wrong. A good choice for commercial operations.

Swimming Pool Repair: Fixing A Cracked Concrete Pool Deck

Your swimming pool is a lifetime investment. Over time it will require you to complete some basic maintenance tasks to extend the life of your investment. Some pool maintenance know-how is required for any savvy swimming pool owner.

One common task in swimming pool maintenance is the repair of the concrete pool deck. Cracks in the concrete of your swimming pool deck may result from soil conditions or heat and sometimes freezing thaw cycles. Learning how to repair these cracks yourself could save you money during the life of your swimming pool.

1. First you must prepare the crack in your swimming pool s concrete deck for repair. Large cracks will not need preparation. However, small cracks must be opened larger in order to allow the filler material to penetrate and bind to the damaged area. To enlarge the crack in your swimming pool you can use a crack chaser blade. Crack chaser blades may be purchased at your local hardware store.

2. The second step in repairing the concrete in swimming pools is to make sure that the area you are repairing is clean, dry, and full of debris. Keep in mind that the bonding repair agent needs to be able to adhere to the existing concrete structure. Moisture and debris will hinder this process, making pool maintenance more difficult. Faulty pool repair may also be counterproductive and just make the existing problem worse. Keep your work area clean and dry with a vacuum.

3. The third step is to fill in the crack with a concrete repair agent. These include high strength epoxy and polyurethane fillers which can be found at the hardware store or in a pool repair shop. Use a metal trowel to smooth out the filler after you have filled the hole tightly with your concrete repair agent. Work quickly while filling in cracks in your swimming pool because most of these compounds are designed to set quickly. Also, some of these filling agents can be purchased with applicators that extend into the crack to allow for easy application. Do your research beforehand to ensure that your pool repair is effective.

4. Next, silica sand should be sprinkled on the wet filler agent to increase the hold of the filler. After you have applied silica sand to the filled crack, smooth out the filled crack with your trowel.

5. Paint or cover your pool repair with the same material as the rest of the pool to blend the repair and make it less obvious.

6. Repeat steps one through five for each crack in your pool.

Pool maintenance is a necessary activity to extend the life of your swimming pool. If the cracks in your concrete deck are too large for easy repair, it may be advisable to call a swimming pool repair company in order to make sure that the job is completed in a way that is sustainable for the rest of the life of the swimming pool. Top of the Line – Highly Recommended We interviewed several pool contractors and looked at each builders work. Pool Captain’s, Adam and Rachel, displayed the best product and the best price. There were no hidden or unexpected costs. Everything was detailed from the beginning and followed the plan for construction. We are extremely happy with the pool, deck and enclosure as well as some remodeling work that was done to tie the project together. All the craftsmen were very skilled in their field.

Airframe and Powerplant

Your first step toward a career in Aviation Maintenance Science is obtaining your FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A P) Certification.
Global’s hands-on approach trains students in the specific skills employers seek in the airframe powerplant mechanics and aircraft inspection fields. Students take courses in simulated work environments from instructors with real-world experience.
Our curriculum was developed by educators and industry representatives to ensure that course offerings accurately reflect current industry standards. Students must complete the required course to qualify for the program’s Certificate of Achievement. Once trained, technicians will also be successful in related fields of aircraft manufacturing, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, sheet metal, quality control, civil and military defense.
F.A.A. Eligibility Requirements
The A P mechanics course is for applicants who meet FAR 65.71-65.77 only. Under these regulations, you must have a certain type of mechanical experience before the F.A.A. will allow you to take the F.A.A. written exams. The required experience for the powerplant mechanic rating is a minimum of 18 months working with tools on any type of aircraft engine. The required experience for the airframe mechanic rating is a minimum of 18 months working with tools on any type of airframe. If you want both ratings, and your experience was a combination of airframe and powerplant, then you need a total of 30 months experience (not 36).
Obtaining Your Authorization Slips
To be enrolled in GLOBAL SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS as a mechanic student, you must first meet the F.A.A. experience requirements. The purpose of this is to be sure the F.A.A. will permit you to take the written exam after you finish the course.
Oral and Practical Examinations
The F.A.A. requires the written results to be in the student’s hands before an Oral and Practical examination may be given. Therefore, in order to take an oral and practical examination with one of our examiners, you must bring your written score slips and your airmen certificate and/or rating application 8610-2. Your F.A.A. inspector should give you two copies of the 8610-2 form, both bearing original signatures. Photo copied signatures are not accepted.
Classroom Time
The average time to obtain the A P rating is from 11 – 13 days. Our instructors work closely with each student, progressing him/her based on their own capabilities. Our course is guaranteed 100% – we keep working with you until you pass – good for 36 months.
