Lovely atmosphere, clean nicely laid out rooms (we were in a junior suite). All rooms on the road but despite some tripadvisor reviews we didn t find it too bad in terms of noise. Spa very good. Housekeeping very good. One star taken off because local knowledge was not very good at all – they struggled to recommend anywhere local to eat, and despite the brochure full of hiking trails, the man on the front desk (Eric?) insisted there were landslides and if we wanted to explore, the only option was to take the extremely expensive plantation tour which consisted of being in a car all day. Luckily we ignored his advice, took the free Jim Thompson trail walk and arranged direct with the guide to take us on a much longer hike the next day. It turned out there were no landslides at all. and we can t help having an unpleasant feeling we were deliberately lied to in order for the front desk to gain commissions by booking a tour we clearly weren t that keen on. However in general the staff were very friendly and attentive, and as long as you don t rely on the hotel to guide you on activities, it s a lovely short break.

Great hotel in colonial style, nicely located. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful; they did their utmost to make our stay great. Rooms and overall facilities are clean and well looked after. Spa is amazing. Many leisure activities can be arranged through the hotel. Dining is good but quality of food could benefit from slight improvement. Overall a very nice hotel.

Top tip for other guests:

Try the spa facilities.

The service at this hotel was impeccable. everyone was friendly and courteous. The high tea was also nice, with freshly baked scones with strawberry jam. The hotel was fully booked, and hence was not able to get the free upgrade provided by SLH. We were given the deluxe room with balcony. It was a nice view, overlooking the golf course, but only did we realise that we could hear every bike, car, bus that passed our balcony. Retreating back into the room, the hotel is pretty classic (old) and hence the windows still allowed noise in. The hotel was kind enough to provide free earplugs for us to sleep at night. The free Jim Thompson hike in the nearby forest was very nice and refreshing too. the local guide (Madhi) was extremely passionate about the history. The spa was fantastic. The strawberry treatment was wonderfully relaxing and there were nice touches to keep us warm and heated in the cool chilly cameron air. During the peak season, need to book your taxi s in advance. It can be quite hard to get transport to the airport.

Top tip for other guests:

try the hike and the spa, and use the earplugs to sleep in the night!

To recover, you can have a cup of tea in the drawing room, or a tea bath at the Spa Village, or you may simply choose to spend the day curled up with a good book by the fireplace.Cameron Highlands Resort is situated on the largest hill retreat in Malaysia, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, lush greenery, rolling hills and Tudor-styled cottages. The luxurious boutique Resort features 56 beautifully-appointed rooms and suites, and fronts Cameron Highlands’ 18-hole golf course. It also houses the third wellness centre of the award-winning Spa Village group, which offers exotic treatments focusing on the healing and restorative properties of tea. Located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands is a beautiful holiday destination and the only place where you can find tea plantations and strawberries in Malaysia. At about 1,500 metres above sea level, it is the highest area on the mainland and enjoys a cool climate and fresh air, with temperatures ranging between 15° and 25° Celsius. Much of the character of the highlands remains unchanged since colonial times. It is endearingly known to some as the ‘little corner of England in Asia’. The cool climate on the picturesque plateau and its surrounding hills and forest make this a popular retreat for golfing, jungle trekking and exploration of the many plantations and gardens. Cameron Highlands Resort is ideal all year round for families, honeymooners and holidaymakers out to satiate their appetites for trails, tales and tradition.

The hotel is located well outside the town of Tanah Rata. Both floors have balconies overlooking a golf course and quite a busy road. Quite handy then that the earplugs are provided by the hotel.

Bedrooms are spacious, beds very comfortable. In keeping with colonial style of the building there is no air conditioning but ceiling fans.

Good WiFi signal and selection of TV channels. Excellent response from the maintenance team who repaired the bathroom shaving socket within minutes of calling the Reception.

Dinners are offered in the main dining room where we tried an excellent beef rendang or in Gonbei, a semi el fresco restaurant serving the steamboat that is a variation on a fondue and a bit of a gimmick.

Breakfast was fairly standard, no pleasant surprises there.

People come here to explore the tea plantations and the mountains. The spa is unnecessarily expensive but there is not much else to do so bring a good book in case of inclement weather.

Apart from the mentioned attractions, other attractions in Cameron Highlands include theButterfly Farm . Rose Gardens . Bee Farm . and Vegetable Farms . There are also the Brinchang Hindu Temples and theSam Poh Chinese Mahayana Buddhist Temple . Other features include Cactus Point . and Cactus Valley . There is Market Square, the Cameron Highlands Time Tunnel Galeria (at nearby Kea Farm ) and accommodation at the Kampung Taman Sedia Homestay, Tanah Rata and The Smokehouse Hotel.

Accommodation in Cameron Highlands is wide and varied, but during peak seasons, the price can shoot up to two times as normal while finding an empty room can be hard! Always remember to book your room, apartment or chalet early to avoid sleeping under the stars when you make your way here. Visitors can choose to stay inLuxury Hotels.

Cameron Highlands may be accessed by two major roads. From North-South Expressway, exit the expressway at Tapah Interchange and then proceed via Federal route 59 straight along the way to the highlands. It is about one and a half hours to reach the first town of south end, Ringlet.

The drive up to Cameron Highlands is not the easiest especially among novice drivers. This is because coming in from the North-South Expressway and heading towards Cameron Highlands will involve a lot of narrow and winding stretches. Alternatively, exit the expressway at Simpang Pulai Interchange, Ipoh and proceed via a new Second East-West Highway to Cameron Highlands along the way to the top. It is about one hour to reach the the first town at the northern end, Kampung Raja. Our concise guide to driving up to Cameron Highlands .

    Tapah access road

If you use the Tapah way, you will first reach Ringlet. Ringlet is a typical residential town with few rows of shops. Ringlet has its attractions but is very much limited. Normally, tourists do not stay long around this area other than taking a short driving rest or short break. It is more peaceful compared to Tanah Rata and Brinchang, which activities congregate.

A further drive up the highlands is Tanah Rata, where most tourists and visitors are more likely to stay here because there is variety of accommodation options available. Tanah Rata is the main public transport station of Cameron Highlands. Whether you are boarding or arriving by bus or taxi, it will stop here.

    Tanah Rata Town

Tanah Rata can be considered as the second hot spot tourist town area in Cameron Highlands. Here, visitors will find rows of shops that sell souvenirs, eateries and local agricultural products. In addition, hotels, budget accommodations, travel agencies, banks, money changers are abundantly scattered here catering tourists’ needs. At Tanah Rata, tourists can start to visit Cameron Highlands’ attractions by visiting to the nearby strawberry, tea plantations and flower farms. Also, tourists can go for jungle tracking to reach the Robinson Waterfalls .

    Brinchang Town

The next drive up about 3kms will be Brinchang town. Brinchang is the biggest town among others and the main attraction in Cameron Highlands. To a certain extent, food might cost slightly more as the town is known for its eateries. Brinchang is busier and exudes a more commercial atmosphere most probably because it is the connection point to the nearby farms and plantations. Brinchang too has a lot of accommodations options like hotels, chalets and apartments.

First World Hotel, genting Highlands – First World Hotel

    Reviewed January 6, 2012

Our next destination after Langkawi was the Genting Highlands. We had booked a car from Mumbai and had the car driver pick us up at the KL airport. The drive to Genting was approximately and hour which was very pleasant as we drove up the mountain. We stayed at the First World Hotel and booked the World Club room wherein our checkin was much faster as compared to the regular rooms as there are around 6500 rooms in the hotel. However, getting rooms on the higher floor served no purpose as it was completely covered in mist. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast the next morning very good. However, very few options for vegetarians at the hotel. There are no rides inside the hotel for teens and adults so do not buy a combined pass. Buy individual tickets if required. However, for children under 12, there were a few rides but with long lines. Please check the entire place before settling down for food as there are a number of restaurants all over. We however could not sit on any of the rides outside as they closed down due to rains. Overall, this was one day we could have utilized someplace else.

Room Tip: The World Club rooms though slightly expensive are worthwhile given the separate check-in and less t.

This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

      Reviewed January 5, 2012

Understandably for the first timer to First World, the feedback would be the room is small, but smallness is cosy, warm and nice. Also the amenities, restaurants and food outlets, theme parks, performance plaza and the casino have added to the charm and vitality of this hotel. It is more integrated and complete than the good old Genting.

On New Year’s day we visited Genting. One group stayed at Resorts World because the room is spacious. Another group stayed at First World Deluxe room, no doubt a little smaller. But the handling of the check-in was fast and furious and soon we went to our rooms to rest. Then out we went, it was play time. Some went into the casino, some to Hou Mei Restaurant, Lobby Cafe for a quick bite and some walked to the shopping arcade. We fixed a time to meet up at Coffee Terrace at the good old Genting. We wanted to enjoy a good buffet meal.

The walk from First World to old Genting was supposedly far, but the cool weather and the noise and bustle of everyone enjoying themselves made the trip an easy one.

At the Coffee Terrace, we eat until we could not walk. We heard there will be fireworks at First World and quickly we walked back and discovered a huge crowd had gathered near to the Bus Terminal nearby.

‘Bang, bang, bang’ and we became kids again, enjoying the fireworks which erupted into many patterns! Happy New Year, everyone!

Meanwhile at the Plaza, batches entertainers were dancing to the lively songs. Again we could see the crowds enjoying themselves. Then near to the frontage of the reception area, there was a group of young people displaying their agility in hip hop dance.

At about 11 pm, we return to our room to sleep. Feeling tired and happy, we went into dreamland in no time. Such is the goodness of First World Hotel. Try it.

Cameron Highlands Hotels, Malaysia: Booking and Real Reviews #hospice #levels #of #care

    Cameron Highlands Online

Set amidst tea plantations and rolling hills, this boutique hideaway promises all the splendour, romance and nostalgia of Cameron Highlands’ grand colonial heritage.Tall French doors, timber-beamed ceilings and plantation shutters add colonial charm and a touch of nostalgia to our rooms.Enjoy a refreshing round of golf, a pink-cheeked ramble along jungle trails, or a leisurely walk through tea plantations and strawberry farms.

    My Trip Type: Friends
