Best Rate Guarantee – get your first night free

At Corinthia, we always strive to provide the best rates on our website. If you don’t think we have, we’ll pay for 100% of your room on the first night, and price match the rest. Should you find a lower price elsewhere, please submit a claim within 24 hours of your original booking and we will respond within two working days. Please note, this also applies to discounts and promotions available on Corinthia.com.

    Process for making a claim:

Step 1. If within 24 hours of a confirmed reservation with Corinthia Hotels made on Corinthia.com, you find a lower rate for the same hotel, room type, inclusions, stay dates, discounts and payment conditions, please contact the relevant email address from the list below to make your claim. All claims must be made within 24 hours of the original booking and at least 24 hours prior to the standard check-in time of the hotel.

Step 2. Your claim should be supported by the URL where the lower rate was found and a screen shot which clearly displays the date of stay, room type, same hotel, inclusions and payment conditions of the lower rate offering on the competing website. Please include your contact information (name, email and phone number).

Step 3. If we are able to verify that the lower rate found qualifies for the Best Rate Guarantee, and all other terms and conditions are met, Corinthia Hotels will pay for 100% of the room charges of your first night, and will price match the room for the rest of your stay. You will be charged for all nights booked at the matched rate, minus the first night which will be free.

To make your claim, email the relevant hotel on one of the following:

First night free, match rate for rest of stay, no minimum nights

    Terms and Conditions:

Corinthia Hotels guarantees the best online rate on corinthia.com based on the following terms and conditions:

    1. Your original booking must have been made through corinthia.com.

    2. The lower rate must be found and the claim submitted by email within 24 hours of the original booking and at least 24 hours prior to the standard check-in time at the hotel. If the original booking was made within 24 hours of arrival, the Best Rate Guarantee is not applicable.

    3. The Best Rate Guarantee only applies to published rates available to the general public online, which can be found and booked immediately without any kind of restriction or payment restrictions.

    4. The lower rate found must be for exactly the same booking criteria – the same hotel, the same room type, same inclusions, the same stay dates, same number of guests, the same rate description and, if applicable, the same promotion. The cancellation and advance purchase policy and all other terms and conditions of the stay must also be identical. If the claim refers to a reservation consisting of several nights’ accommodation, the average rate for each night will be compared to the average rate for each night, for an identical reservation, using the website where the lower rate is found.

    5. Corinthia Hotels will verify the lower rate claim and respond within two working days of the claim being made. *Claims will be processed from Monday to Friday, between 9am to 5pm, at the hotel’s local time.

    6. The rate comparison will be made net of any taxes, gratuities or any other fees or charges associated with the room rate, and the lower rate must still be available at the time the hotel validates the claim.

    7. The Best Rate Guarantee is void where prohibited by law. Corinthia Hotels reserves the right to modify or cancel its Best Rate Guarantee policy at any time in its sole discretion and without prior notice.

    8. Corinthia Hotels has the sole right and discretion to determine the validity of any claim, including without limitation, determining that the lower rate found is genuinely available and that the claim meets all terms and conditions. In case of dispute, Corinthia Hotels’ decision is final.

    9. In the case of a fully prepaid rate booked through corinthia.com, Corinthia Hotels will refund the difference to your credit card, if applicable, within 30 business days of submitting your claim. Corinthia Hotels is not responsible for any fees associated with cancelling a reservation made through a different channel.

    10. Best Rate Guarantee will be suspended during times where corinthia.com or certain rates are not available due to an outage, a technical issue or a circumstance beyond Corinthia Hotels’ reasonable control.

    11. The Best Rate Guarantee does not apply to rates found offline, negotiated corporate rates, group or MICE rates, opaque provider rates or rates requiring membership in a club or other organization, governmental rates, direct mail or email solicitations, rates offered by providers that do not supply the name or location of the hotel until after a reservation has been made or other rates that are not available to the general public. We reserve the right to deny a claim if the availability of the Competing Rate cannot be independently verified at the time of processing the claim.

    12. The Best Rate Guarantee does not apply to packaged rates. Packaged rates include Hotel accommodations sold as part of a travel package in which the Hotel does not provide all services (including but not limited to airfare and/or car rental, tours etc.) and Hotel accommodations sold with additional amenities.

    13. Corinthia Hotels may deny a claim where the difference between the rates is less than 1%.

    Malta

    Malta’s highlights

Malta is one of the smallest countries in the world, but it punches well above its weight when it comes to tourism. There aren’t a lot of sandy beaches on the island, but what it lacks in sand, it makes up for in lidos and bathing areas. In places like Mellieha Bay and Qawra, the sunbathing space is complemented by waterside promenades, beach bars and restaurants.

    Centuries of history

History is Malta’s forté. The island is bursting at the seams with historical sites. The temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra on the south coast are cast-offs from prehistoric times. And the ancient city of Mdina was once a city of knights.

    The good-time island

Of course, there’s more to Malta than its timeline. The island is quickly making its name as one of Europe’s most exciting destinations for music fans. Throughout the summer, festivals take place at a different village each weekend. The season of celebration kicks off in style with the International Fireworks Festival at the start of May. Then there’s the annual Isle of MTV event, the Lost and Found Festival, and the International Jazz Festival, to name a few.

Places To Stay In Malta View all places to stay

    Qawra

Qawra – pronounced awra – is a charming, purpose-built resort in north-east Malta. The town is set around scenic St Paul’s Bay, with luxury, high-rise hotels hugging the seafront. It works on 2 levels – as a vibrant summer destination, but also as a stress-free place to enjoy a winter break. And it blends seamlessly into Buggiba, its bolder, brasher, bayside neighbour, which boasts a pretty harbour and a waterpark along its brand-new promenade.

    Bugibba

On the northern tip of Malta, bubbly Bugibba is one of the island’s most in-demand holiday playgrounds. Commanding centre-stage on St Paul’s Bay’s rugged 5-kilometre coastline, this small town is crammed with modern hotels and apartment blocks, and has recently had an expensive makeover. Judging by the attractive main square and the promenade, where the brand-new Bugibba Waterpark now resides, it’s been money well spent.

    Mellieha Bay

Mellieha Bay is a low-key place perched on the north coast of Malta. The sleepy old town sits up on the hill and comes with a smattering of churches, restaurants and shops – not to mention a great coastal view. And at the bottom of the road is the piece de resistance – a lovely sandy beach, one of just a few on the island.

    Holidays in Malta

With its scenic bays, hot climate and buzzing local nightlife, the island of Malta is a hidden gem in the heart of the Mediterranean. Relax on one of the picture-perfect beaches, or take a boat ride to nearby Comino to enjoy a dip in the Blue Lagoon. Plus, the island comes to life in the summertime, playing host to some major festivals and exciting nightlife all around the coastline.

Expect glorious sunshine in the summer, and comfortable temperatures during the winter season.

The northern coast of Malta has the island’s longest beach at Mellieha Bay. Just a bit further to the south-east, the large buzzing resorts of Qawra and Bugibba are tucked side by side into St Paul’s Bay. You’ll find some of Malta’s best sandy beaches hugging the north-western coast at Golden Bay. Malta’s small but elegant capital, Valletta, is filled with narrow historic streets and surrounded by dramatic fortifications. The rocky shores north of the capital are home to the classy resorts of Sliema and St Julian’s. Head to Malta’s little sister island Gozo for a taste of rural peace.

    Bugibba

    St Julians & Sliema

    142 pp

Built around the beautiful Spinola Bay, St Julian’s is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to the action. Relax on the popular sandy beach, go shopping for the day in Sliema, and then in the evening, head to Paceville for a great choice of bars and nightlife.

Beautiful beaches line the coast at Golden Bay, the perfect spot for a boat ride past the grottoes and cliffs that mark this north-western coast. Explore the atmospheric alleys of the capital Valletta and the winding medieval lanes of the former capital, Mdina. Take the ferry – or even a seaplane – to tranquil Gozo and go diving underneath the giant stone coastal arch known as the Azure Window. Spend a day on the miniature island of Comino, where the white sands of the Blue Lagoon lead to shimmering waters.

More peaceful and rural than its sister island, Gozo is home to unspoilt villages with ornate features. Victoria, the lively capital, has a striking citadel and the central square – It-Tokk or ‘the meeting place’ – is lined with pavement cafés. Explore its medieval alleyways with interesting architecture and tiny shops. Marsalforn’s waterfront bars are ideal for a relaxing drink. Dwejra’s coastline is a spectacular sight and here you can see the oldest salt pans on Gozo. Relax on the deep red sands of Ramla Bay, one of the island’s most striking beaches. Marvel at the mysterious Ggantija Temples that are even older than Egypt’s pyramids.

    Beaches & Bays

With warm, crystal-clear waters, the Maltese islands provide fantastic opportunities for diving. Discover exciting underwater scenery at a number of sites including the wreck of the HMS Maori in Valletta. Gozo and Comino have some of the best dive sites such as the famous Azure Window or the Santa Maria Caves which teem with marine life. Poor quality and expensive – at least in the middle of August. The room should be really renovated (torn bed, old furniture and tiles in the bathroom, noisy air conditioner and fridge). The view was looking to a – probably the kitchen s -ventilator. Comparing the price to the quality, we didn t get what we had expected. We don t recommend it.

    Bugibba

    478 pp

The sheltered waters off Bugibba’s rocky beach are ideal for bathing and watersports, and lidos provide an excellent alternative. From the promenade, lined with restaurants and cafés, walk into the centre to do some shopping. Nightlife is varied with bars, discos and casinos.

    Qawra

    566 pp

This lively resort sits on St Paul’s Bay next to its popular neighbour Bugibba. Stay in a Qawra hotel and take a stroll along the bustling promenade lined with bars, cafés and restaurants. Soak up Malta’s rich history as you wander past imposing 17th-century watchtowers towards Qawra Point.

    Mellieha Bay

    285 pp

Slow down the pace at Mellieha Bay. This quiet area is ideal if you’re looking for some relaxing hotels outside of the busy centre. With great views over the bays and beaches, this is one of the most peaceful spots on the island.

    Valletta

    999 pp

With its classic architecture and bustling centre, Valletta is an ideal spot for those who like some history with their holiday. Discover the island’s culture across its capital city, from attractions like St. John’s Co-Cathedral, to the quaint cafes that line the streets.

Small but perfectly formed, Malta packs a lot into its tiny islands.

Take a boat through the cave tunnel at the Azure Window’s Inland Sea, where the turquoise waters and vivid orange coral entice divers and snorkelers. Plunge 16m through the Blue Hole just in front of the Azure Window to the cave lurking by the seabed.

    MALTA IS BEST FOR.
