  • National Certificate (Vocational) (NC(V)), with English as one of the subjects passed and with endorsement for admission to Diploma study; or
  • Prior to 2009, Senior Certificate with English as one of the subjects passed.

ALTERNATIVE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A number of higher education qualifications may meet the requirement for admission into the diploma:

  • Higher Certificate, NQF (HEQSF) Level 5, minimum Credits 120; or
  • Advanced Certificate, NQF (HEQSF) Level 6, minimum Credits 120; or
  • Equivalent qualification from a foreign higher education institution – see section on Foreign Applicants.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF STUDY?

Based on the credits and notional hours (i.e. the total number of hours of learning to complete the programme) for this qualification, the minimum duration is six (6) semesters over a period of three (3) years, and the maximum duration is six (6) years.

The Advanced Integrated Communication Program 2016 – 2017

Course Outline and Method:

The Advanced Integrated Communication Programme is a part-time post-graduate Course designed and meant specifically for working professionals. The programme focuses on different aspects of the Communication space where design and implementation will reflect success. It looks at the subject of Communications in an integrated manner where different parts of the field are not broken up but need to be consolidated to give the right impact. Effective Communication necessitates that all Marketing Communication elements like the Public Relations Campaigns, Sales Promotions and others must blend into the larger Marketing objective for the Client. This integration will ensure that the organization delivers a ‘One Voice – One Message’ Campaign and manage effective change through Communication.

Hence irrespective of which individual domain like Advertising or Media that practitioners work in, the resultant impact will always be larger when we look at the integration of all Communication alternatives. Hence this course addresses the practitioners of the Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, Media, Production and similar domains.

The Course comprises 25 Modules. seminars and workshops consisting of a total of 200 sessions / 40 credits. This Module completion makes the student eligible for the Diploma. Students will have to attend week-end class, do assignments and projects which are research-based to enhance their understanding of the subject. A major part of the Programme shall be conducted from the basis of Practice to Theory and on the basis of Case Studies to drive the learning to participants who have good work experience.

Eligibility:

  • A Graduate in any discipline and Work experience of 2 years in a non-staff function (executive or supervisory function desired).
  • Organizational sponsorship for this program preferred but not compulsory

Class Timings (and Location):

  • Saturdays: 3.30 PM – 7.45 PM (4 hours contact sessions) and Sundays: 10 AM – 5 PM (6 hours contact sessions).
  • The program will be conducted over 200 sessions of 400 Hours in total.
  • The program shall be conducted in our State of the art facility at either the XIC Campus situated at the St. Xavier�s School campus or at The XIC Campus situated in St. Xavier’s College, both located at Dhobitalao, Mumbai

75% attendance is mandatory in each Module. This is a necessary criteria for successful award of the Diploma.

Participants will develop a holistic and mature approach to solve all Marketing Communication issues. The Integration of this type of a holistic nature will give organizations more sound solutions and better Campaigns. Employees of all Communication or related organizations largely stand to benefit from this approach and this program.

Majors

Albright’s ADP curriculum features an accelerated seminar format with intense use of the Internet as well as additional computer technology. Interaction between students is emphasized and much of this collaboration involves applied group activities.

While traditional classes meet 40-44 hours per semester, Albright’s ADP courses meet for four hours per evening for five to seven weeks. Remaining class time is fulfilled by a combination of Internet usage and independent study.

Through a special partnership with Reading Area Community College, Delaware County Community College, Harrisburg Area Community College, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Montgomery County Community College, Northampton Community College, and Warren County Community College, most associate degrees (A.A. or A.S.) from these colleges transfer fully to Albright ADP (and acceptance is automatic if all Albright transfer admissions criteria are met.) Albright College offers a $2,500-3,200 Partner Scholarship based on GPA to graduates of these colleges. (Any applicant with an Associates Degree is eligible for a $2,500 scholarship.)

ADP offers bachelor’s degrees in:

Accounting: The accelerated program in accounting prepares students for careers in public and private accounting and in obtaining professional certifications. This major also provides students with a strong foundation for entering a graduate school program.

Business Administration: The accelerated program in business administration prepares students for a wide variety of careers in finance, banking, marketing and management. This major also provides students with a strong foundation for entering a graduate school program.

Crime & Justice: The accelerated program in crime and justice involves an analysis of criminal deviance and its roots, plus an in-depth understanding of our criminal justice system’s successes and failures. Unlike other criminal justice programs, students are not trained specifically for police work. Rather, students are educated in the academic study of crime, criminology and justice in preparation for a variety of positions within the criminal justice system.

Digital Communications: Albright College offers one of the only evening accelerated-hybrid programs in Digital Communications in the area. Focus on strategic communication across media platforms including publications, videos, and websites in the Albright College Digital Communications program. (This program is currently offered exclusively at our Reading location.)

Computer and Information Systems: The accelerated program in information systems is based on common structures and degree programs in the United States and Canada. It also meets the recommendation of the Association for Computing Machinery, which sets a variety of standards in technology fields, as well as graduate study programs.

Organizational Behavior / Applied Psychology: The accelerated program in organizational behavior / applied psychology prepares students for a wide variety of careers in social services, management, human resources, training and development. This major also provides students with a strong foundation for entering a graduate program.

Information Systems and Management: Albright s distinctive new major in information systems and management (ISAM) is designed to provide students with both the technical skills and the business acumen required to excel in information systems and business environments.

Counting Tweets

Counting Tweets takes a slightly different approach. Rather than give you numbers for just one specific link, you can use the service to discover how many times every link on a page has been shared.

Bitly

With URL shortening service Bitly. you can gleam a little bit of extra information about any given link. However, the data you re going to find is not complete.

Bitly s statistics depend entirely on people using the URL-shortening service, but it can give you a sense of how many people are clicking the Bitly link, and which social networks their clicks are coming from. You can also get a geographical breakdown, as well as an hourly or daily breakdown.

Top 100 Schools for Animation, Gaming, and Design

The animation education industy has never been so competitive, with schools competing for students and students competing for a small number of available industry jobs. The job rate and student employability has dropped to the lowest in years, so a top-notch animation education has never been so critical.

All this has made choosing the right animation school extremely difficult. To help students navigate through the world of animation schools, we’ve put together the Top 100 most highly-regarded and sought after animation schools on the planet. This list of the Top 100 Schools in Animation, Gaming and Design was compiled via a mixture of school reviews, industry-reviewed lists like the Princeton Review, and via a survey of the animation industry professionals and recruiters from companies like Pixar, J.J. Sedelmaier and DreamWorks who were featured in our Interview Series. And without further ado, here are your Top 100 Schools in Animation, Gaming and Design:

Let’s start this list off with a bang by beginning with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. This design school made our list because it is a tight-knit school that offers a fully customizable course load—but unlike some of their competitors they do it without school-defined majors. They definitely win the prize for being the most flexible program (or lackthereof) on this list. Only problem is: if you don’t like the education you get then you have only yourself to blame (and I suppose the mentor who helps you craft your personalized program). No worries though, their wide-selection of Film, Animation, Illustration and Graphic Design courses certainly won’t let you down.

The University of Visual Arts in Tucson has a small faculty (with an excellent teacher-to-student ratio) and a small-art school vibe. But don’t let the size fool you, this highly-advanced visual arts school packs a wallop with their Graphic Design. Animation and Illustration programs. They also offer BFA degrees in Studio Art and Photography, an MFA degree in Studio Arts with three areas of emphasis, one of which is Motion Arts. Their animation and design courses are highly practical as they focus heavily on industry-dominating Flash software and character development.

When your entire focus is animation, you get pretty good at it; when all you teach is animation, you get pretty good at that too. The Animation Workshop’s sole focus on animation has paid off as they have become the top Scandinavian animation school, and one of the best in Europe. The school has five departments, each focusing on a different element of animation; each department enrolls a limited number of students annually—so that they maintain their great teacher-to-student ratio. Despite their northerly location the school and faculty have fostered tight relationships with the European animation community and have landed positions for their graduates at DreamWorks in the U.S, Brown Bag Films in Ireland, Aardman in the U.K. Cartoon-Film in Germany, Folimage in France, BRB in Spain and more.

The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) takes a unique approach to preparing their students to work in the animation industry, they require at least one (most students complete two) short film(s) before graduation. These short films are made in conjunction with the production, editing, sound and photography departments so the animation grads leave school with a professional-looking film; films that regularly score the school’s graduates entry level jobs at prominent studios across Europe. FAMU has two animation programs, a three-year bachelor’s program and a five-year master’s. Their master’s program in animation is extremely tough to get into though as they accept just five students annually.

9Zeros in Spain hosts three four-year animation programs: Cartooning, 3D Animation and Stop Motion. The stop-motion program steals the show at this school though as the 400-hour program is good—and the only one on the continent. This boutique program accepts just 120 students a year. Included in the program is an internship with European-based studios that the school maintains close ties with and an end-of-the-program final project to add to their portfolio. The Spanish animation scene absorbs most of 9Zeros’ graduates.

La Poudrière is an animation school created over a decade ago by France’s most-prominent animation studio, Folimage. The directors at Folimage designed La Poudrière’s program in an interesting way. there is no faculty. Instead the students are taught by the 60 to 80 guest lecturers that rotate through the campus annually. The school’s two-year animation program focuses heavily on animated film directing, has a max of 10 students per class and is taught primarily via supervised projects to ensure that students get the most hands-on experience possible and leave school with a hefty portfolio. Another interesting, and highly realistic, part of the program is that students are forced to create their work within given budgets and time schedules.

The Art Center College of Design (often referred to simply as the ‘Art Center’) has been regularly listed as a top art/design school by BusinessWeek, U.S. News, DesignIntelligence, and U.S. News World Report. Their degree programs in Entertainment Design. Film. Fine Art. Graphic Design. Illustration and Interaction Design all offer tempting elements to aspiring animators, designers and game designers. Their courses are heavily influenced by pop culture, hand and life drawing and a mixture of emerging media.

If living in Long Beach, California wasn’t enough to sell prospective design students on going to California State University Long Beach, then the program the school created would do it. Their BA and BFA degree programs in Graphic Design, Illustration and Studio Art offer interesting tracks in illustration and/or animation; meaning they train artists first, then turn them into animators. This strategy is working well because California’s top animation studios recruit from CSU Long Beach. They also offer interesting media courses in their Journalism and Mass Communications department.

This little beauty was a favorite amongst the employers surveyed in our Interview Series. and was mentioned by many as a school they regularly recruit from. Can’t blame ’em really, because their BA degrees in Animation, Video/Digital art, Graphic Design and Illustration when combined with electives from their Studio Art, Video/Digital Art, Visual Communication and Graphic Design concentrations create superhero-like graduates (think: unstoppable).

The National Institute of Design is India’s foremost institution teaching design and animation, and considering how good the animation talent is coming out of India these days, that says a lot. The school’s mingling courses in Graphic Design, Animation Film Design, Film Video Communication and Exhibition (Spatial) Design are turning out incredibly artsy animators that are providing steady competition for American animation studios. While nobody in animation and gaming likes to talk about outsourcing, NID is the school training the animation masters behind the trend, training artists as well as software experts. They’re good, real good.

You will notice a massive amount of Vancouver animation schools making the list, but this should come as no surprise given their massively successful animation scene and ability to usurp a large amount of animation graduates. The Emily Carr University of Art and Design is another Vancouver-based art and design school to proudly make our list. But we couldn’t pick just one program from Emily Carr to add to this list because the strength of the school is mutually reinforcing the artistic education of its students via multidisciplinary groups, electives and through major/minor combos. The mix of courses between the school’s well-known Animation major , Interactive + Social Media Arts major , Communication Design major. Industrial Design major. Interaction Design major. How to manage the torrent of social media conversations and increase your productivity!

O ne of the things we often hear from nonprofits and social enterprises is: How do I manage the torrent of social media conversations coming at me?

The answer used to be: Painstakingly and one conversation at a time. But a new crop of social media tools aims to tamp down the social media gusher by letting you update, monitor, manage and maintain several communication outlets at once. (While it s sometimes hard to know what counts as a social media dashboard, we re not including a wide range of customer relationship management (CRM) or social media monitoring tools here.)

When selecting a dashboard for personal or professional use, you should consider such items as cost, analytics and which social networks they support, among other things. Our list is meant to feature some of the breakout social media dashboards in the space and highlight their distinguishing features to make the selection process a bit easier.

Here are 10 of our favorite social media dashboard tools:

Threadsy: Unify your email, social networks

1 Threadsy is an intuitive, easy-to-use dashboard that allows organizations to connect through multiple email accounts as well as Facebook and Twitter. Free to use, Threadsy is great for managing your nonprofit or business s brand from one clean dashboard across the big names in social media platforms. Myweboo: Organize your information streams

2 Haven t heard of Myweboo. That s OK. This upstart startup invites users to discover, browse and read popular streams and share them with friends and followers. You or your organization can choose from a wide variety of “applications” to connect to and stream to a dashboard from categories like news, social, fashion, photo and video. These streams can be viewed together of filtered from “My Dashboard” and then easily shared via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Delicious and other networks. Hootsuite: Integrate all your platforms

3 Our personal favorite is Hootsuite because of the depth of its products and services. Nonprofits and cause organizations can update multiple social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook and more) from a computer or iPhone, Android or BlackBerry device. A team of users can track results of their interactions and create a dashboard that will work efficiently with their preferred social streams. Hootsuite offers two versions. One is free and aggregates up to five social network and two RSS feeds; it stores stat history for 30 days and is ad supported. For $5.99 a month, your organization can enjoy unlimited capabilities for a single user, with each additional user costing $10 per month.

Spredfast: For teams of social marketers

4 Spredfast allows an organization not only to manage its social media presence but also to monitor and measure its voice across multiple social media channels from one easy-to-use dashboard. A great choice for organizations with multiple hands in social media marketing efforts, Spredfast offers superb organizational tools that help identify and assign tasks to multiple users across multiple social media sites ranging from Facebook and Twitter to LinkedIn and blogging platforms. It also lets you publish video to many video sites at once, similar to TubeMogul. Free for 30 days, Spredfast has pricing tiers that start around $212 per month for nonprofits. TweetDeck: Connect with your contacts

9 If you re a Twitter aficionado, you may already use TweetDeck. which works on the Mac, PC, Linux, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android. It connects organizations with contacts across Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Google Buzz and many more. Free of charge, TweetDeck allows users to schedule future posts, manage multiple accounts and update several social media sites at once to maintain consistency. One unique feature allows users to send tweets longer than 140 characters through smart cross-posting to both a Buzz and Twitter account. Twitter is a desktop app and not Web-based, so one thing we don t like is the inability to manage the app s font size on different screens.

Brizzly: Simplify your updating

10 Brizzly simplifies your social media browsing and updating experience while taking some of the work out of keeping up to date with trends and followers. It lets you update on Twitter and Facebook. Its Brizzly Guide helps explain trending topics on Twitter. Brizzly is free.

Tools that can integrate your social networks

There are, of course, other social media dashboard solutions for the enterprise. One good choice for businesses is Awareness. which lets your team publish, manage, measure and engage across multiple social media channels.

Also, don t forget other tools that can integrate your social networks:

• You might want to try using a browser as your social media dashboard. Flock has been the most social of the social browsers for the past five years. Others say Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox will get you a social media dashboard with the right add-ons/extensions. And Marc Andreessen s upcoming RockMelt (Mashable review ) will take it a step further, requiring you to log into Facebook before using it.

• Unilyzer has a social media dashboard to unify your Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts.

Major Harris is used to setting records.

As one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever don the gold and blue, he led the Mountaineer football team to a perfect season and was a Heisman Trophy finalist.

On Friday, Oct. 22, the former Mountaineer quarterback and College Hall of Famer will once again take the lead as parade marshal for the 2010 Homecoming Parade. He joins hundreds of alumni. students and other participants at this annual event that kicks off Homecoming festivities on High Street in downtown Morgantown.

Harris will also be honored during halftime of Saturday’s (Oct. 23) WVU –Syracuse game, which kicks off at noon at Milan Puskar Stadium .

Harris was the first quarterback in NCAA history to rush for 2,000 yards and pass for 5,000 yards during his three-year Mountaineer career. In 1988, he led West Virginia to an 11-0 regular season record and a meeting against No. 1-ranked Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl national championship game.

“We are excited that our own college football great will be serving as our 2010 parade marshal,” said Stephen L. Douglas. president and CEO of the WVU Alumni Association. “Major Harris has had significant influence on how college football is played today and we are thrilled that he will be celebrating his alma mater’s homecoming with us.”

After struggling through the early part of his redshirt freshman season, the elusive signal caller had a breakout game against East Carolina in 1987 and never looked back. He produced 1,200 yards passing and 615 rushing yards in helping WVU to a John Hancock Sun Bowl berth against Thurman Thomas-led Oklahoma State.

The following season, he was nearly perfect in directing West Virginia to the school’s first-ever undefeated, untied regular season and a matchup against No. 1-ranked Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl for the national championship.

In getting the Mountaineers there, Harris baffled opponents all season with his daring, unpredictable, wide-open style. That was never more evident than in West Virginia’s 51-30 dismantling of long-time nemesis Penn State. Harris outgained the entire Penn State team, 301-292, and produced the school’s most exciting run ever in the first quarter of that game.

As the play clock wound down, Harris forgot the play he had called in the huddle. As soon as the ball was snapped, the entire West Virginia team went in one direction and Harris went the other.
He faked out the entire Penn State team leaving no less than seven tacklers grabbing air on the way to the most gorgeous touchdown run in school history—a mere 26-yards forever embedded in the memories of West Virginia football fans.

As a junior, Harris was equally spectacular despite not having as strong a supporting cast. He passed for 2,058 yards and rushed for 936 yards to finish third in the 1989 Heisman Trophy balloting. He earned first team Kodak All-America honors and was a second team AP and Football News All-American. In 1988-89, Harris was voted ECAC player of the year.

He established a WVU record with 7,334 total yards and became one of just two quarterbacks in Division I history to pass for more than 5,000 yards and rush for more than 2,000 yards. His 2,161 rushing yards rank eighth on the school all-time rushing list.
After the completion of his junior year, Harris left school early and was drafted in the 12th round by the Los Angeles Raiders, though he would never play a down in the NFL .

Instead Harris played one season in the Canadian Football League with the British Columbia Lions before spending parts of the next five years in the Arena Football League.

In 1995, Harris returned to WVU to complete his degree in physical education. In 2010, he was inducted into the College Football Home of Fame and is a member of the WVU Sports Hall of Fame (1999). He and his wife reside in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa.
