Which alternative prescription medications are effective in treating hot flash symptoms of menopause?

A few prescription medications, in addition to estrogen, can provide relief for hot flashes. While none of these drugs is as effective as estrogen, studies show that non-estrogen drugs may have up to 70% of the effectiveness of estrogen therapy when treating hot flashes.

  1. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs): This class of medication is used to treat depression and anxiety. In clinical studies, however, low doses of SSRIs and SNRIs have been shown to be effective in decreasing menopausal hot flashes. The SNRI that has been tested most extensively is venlafaxine (Effexor ), although there is also evidence showing that the SSRIs paroxetine (Paxil. Paxil CR ) and fluoxetine (Prozac ) can be effective in controlling hot flashes.
  2. Clonidine: Clonidine (Catapres ) acts in the brain to decrease blood pressure. It has a long history of being used for blood pressure control, but it has potentially annoying side effects, such as dry mouth. constipation. drowsiness, or difficulty sleeping. Clonidine effectively relieves hot flashes in some women but is completely ineffective in others. Clonidine is available in pill or patch form.
  3. Megestrol acetate (Megace): This medication is a type of progesterone, a female hormone. It can be effective in relieving hot flashes, but can only be taken over the short term (for several months). Serious effects can occur if the medication is abruptly discontinued, and megestrol is not usually recommended as a first-line drug to treat hot flashes. Megestrol use can also lead to weight gain .
  4. Studies of another form of progesterone. medroxyprogesterone acetate (Depo-Provera ), which is administered by injection, has also been useful in treating hot flashes. This drug can be used long-term but may have side effects that include weight gain and bone loss.
  5. Gabapentin: Gabapentin (Neurontin ) is a drug that is primarily used for the treatment of seizures that appears to be moderately effective in treating hot flashes. The drug is well tolerated by most women, but often causes drowsiness.

Using SSIS BIDS with Visual Studio 2012 #ms #bids

    #

I want to use SSIS /BIDS project in Visual Studio 2012.

I have both Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012 installed along with Microsoft SQL Server 2012.

VS 2010 was installed first followed by MS SQL 2012 which got me BIDS integrated with VS 2010.

However I cannot seem to find any help on integrating BIDS with VS 2012.

I came across few question on SO related to this topic but all of them had integration with 2010 and not 2012.

I know that with MS SQL 2012 I get a SQL Server Data Tool. Does this mean that Visual Studio 2012 and BIDS cannot be integrated ?

It worked without with creating a new instance!!

Side Note. Installing the update broken my publishing database project onto 2012 server. You need to download and install a DACFramework patch for it.

Welcome to Microsoft Marketing Speak hell. With the 2012 release of SQL Server, the BIDS, Business Intelligence Designer Studio, plugin for Visual Studio was renamed to SSDT, SQL Server Data Tools. SSDT is available for 2010 and 2012. The problem is, there are two different products called SSDT.

There is SSDT which replaces the database designer thing which was called Data Dude in VS 2008 and in 2010 became database projects. That a free install and if you snag the web installer, that’s what you get when you install SSDT. It puts the correct project templates and such into Visual Studio.

There’s also the SSDT which is the “BIDS” replacement for developing SSIS, SSRS and SSAS stuff. As of March 2013, it is now available for the 2012 release of Visual Studio. The download is labeled SSDTBI_VS2012_X86.msi Perhaps that’s a signal on how the product is going to be referred to in marketing materials. Download links are

None the less, we have Business Intelligence projects available to us in Visual Studio 2012. And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals

First Off, I object to this other question regarding Visual Studio 2015 as a duplicate question. How do I open SSRS (.rptproj) and SSIS (.dtproj) files in Visual Studio 2015? [duplicate]

Basically this question has the title. Visual Studio 2012 / 2013 What about ALL the improvements and changes to VS 2015. SSDT has been updated and changed. The entire way of doing various additions and updates is different.

So having vented / rant – I did open a VS 2015 update 2 instance and proceeded to open an existing solution that include a .rptproj project. Now this computer does not yet have sql server installed on it yet.

Solution for ME. Tools –> Extension and Updates –> Updates –> sql server tooling updates

Click on Update button and wait a long time and SSDT then installs and close visual studio 2015 and re-open and it works for me.

In case it is NOT found in VS 2015 for some reason. scroll to the bottom, pick your language iso https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/mt186501.aspx?f=255 MSPPError=-2147217396

How can I make MS SQL Server available for connections? Stack Overflow

    #

I’m trying to connect to MS SQL Server (running on my machine) from a Java program. I’m getting the following long winded exception:

Exception in thread “main” com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The TCP/IP connection to the host localhost, port 1433 has failed. Error: “Connection refused: connect. Verify the connection properties, check that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port, and that no firewall is blocking TCP connections to the port.”.

When I check “Properties” and click “View Connection Properties” in the Object Explorer of MS SQL, I find that the “Server is Unavailable.” This seems possibly related to the exception message.

How can I make the server available?

I am using SQL Server 2008, and I have now enabled TCP/IP, and restarted my instance. I am still told that “Server is unavailable.”

    Any other ideas?

I ran into this problem as well. The MSKB article applies to SQL server 2005.

As the “SQL Server Surface Area Configuration” tool has been dropped in lieu of “Facets” – this wasn’t obvious to me.

I resolved this by setting the TCPAll port and enabling the relevant IP.

    Steps

Open the Sql Server Configuration Manager (Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 -> Configuration Tools)

Expand SQL Server Network Configuration -> [Your Server Instance]

    Double click TCP/IP

    Ensure Enabled is Yes

Scroll to the bottom and set the TCP Port under IPAll, (1433 by default)

Find the IP address you want to connect to and set Enabled and Active to Yes

Before messing about with connections, first check that the SQL Server Service is actually running.

You can do this by either using the SQL Server Configuration Manager (located in the configuration tools folder) or in the standard services console in the Windows control panel.

Once you have checked the service is up and running, you need to ensure that SQL Server has been configured to allow remote connections.

See below for an explanation on how to do this:

Open up Sql Server Configuration Manager. ( Start | Programs | Whatever version of sql server | Configuration Tools)

Browse down to ‘SQL Server Services’ and restart your instance. However you could do this in Management Studio by right clicking on the instance and selecting restart.

If your restart fails then, check out Computer Management | Event Viewer | Application and look for sql server events. it will record successful and error messages here.

    answered Jan 13 ’15 at 20:06

First off, check that the sql server service is running. If you’re using SQL 2005 or 2008, check Configuration manager (2008) or Surface are configuration tool (2005) to make sure the TCP/IP protocol is enabled and TCP/IP connections are allowed. With SSE(express) these are off by default, which would cause your problem. Also just in case you’re running multiple instances, you may need SQL browser service running. If this is the case, you should be able to connect object explorer by using (local) as the server address, since this will use a local/shared memory connection.

    answered Jul 6 ’09 at 12:52

From 2005 and up the SQL server browser service has te be running.
That one fooled me many times.

What Can I Do With a Master’s Degree in Psychology?

    Updated May 16, 2017

A master s degree in psychology is a great option for students who want to continue their education in graduate school but are not sure if they want to earn a doctorate. Fortunately, there are plenty of job options available at this degree level.

Psychology students typically hear less about master s programs than they do doctoral programs despite the fact that around 23,000 students earn master s degrees in psychology each year compared to the approximately 5,500 earning doctorate degrees in psychology.

This degree has become a popular option, particularly with students earning their degrees online. However, students are often unaware of exactly what they can do with their degrees post-graduation. Some students might opt to pursue their master s as a step toward a doctorate, while others instead intend to enter the workforce immediately after graduation.

Let s take a closer look at what sort of job options are available with a master s-level degree in psychology.

What Can You Do With a Master s Degree in Psychology?

The job opportunities available to you after earning your master s degree in psychology can depend on a number of factors. In addition to the overall job outlook in your geographic area, the focus of your master s degree can play an important role in determining your employment prospects.

    Common Master s Degree Options

While it might seem like all master s degrees are roughly the same, there is a tremendous variability not only in subject focus but also in career options.

    In Practice

Get tips on how to better manage your health practice.

In some states, for example, those with a master s degree in clinical psychology can practice psychotherapy in limited situations while those with a degree in an experimental psychology area can instead opt to focus on a research-oriented career.

Before you choose a master s program, spend some time carefully considering where you would like to work once you graduate.

Master s in Clinical Psychology: This is a terminal degree, meaning that further graduate study is not necessary. In some states, graduates of these practice-based programs are allowed to provide psychotherapy and psychological assessment under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist.

Master s in Experimental Psychology: This degree option can serve as a terminal degree or preparation for further graduate study. These research-based degrees are focused on preparing students for careers in research. Students often focus on a specialty area such as cognitive psychology. human factors. developmental psychology, or social psychology. This type of degree would prepare students for job as research assistants, lab managers, and market researchers.

Master s in an Applied Psychology Area: The U.S. Department of Labor suggests that job opportunities are strongest for students with a graduate degree in an applied psychology area such as industrial-organizational psychology or forensic psychology. A degree in an applied field prepares students to work directly in their specialty area, but some graduate may also find teaching positions at the college or university level.

Job Options With a Master s Degree in Psychology

What if your degree isn t in one of the above areas, or what if you are interested in switching gears to focus on a different area of psychology?

While your career path may not be as obvious, there are still plenty of different job opportunities to consider.

As you begin your career search, think about the skills and knowledge you acquired during your education and consider different ways you could apply those abilities in the workforce.

The following are just a few of the major areas you might want to focus on in your job search.

    Jobs at Colleges and Universities

While the competition for teaching positions can be fierce, some graduates with a master s degree in psychology do find teaching positions at junior colleges and universities. Academic advising, career counseling. and academic recruiting are alternative careers in higher education that graduates from a master s psychology program may want to consider.

Jobs in Local, State, and Federal Government

Another option is to look for job with the local, state, or federal government. Various government offices frequently hire individuals with a master s degree in psychology to perform research or provide psychological services.

How do you find out about these job opportunities? One way to look for such jobs is to go you your state s Department of Labor website and search through the available job listings.

Some different government positions that you might qualify for include:

    • Vocational rehabilitation provider
    • Self-reliance specialist
    • Developmental specialist
    • Drug and alcohol specialist
    • Employment counselor
    • Human resources analyst
    • Parole officers
    • Psychology program manager
    • Rehabilitation counselor
    • Social service manager

Jobs in Health Care and Mental Health Services

Even if your degree was not practice-focused, you may still be able to find employment in the mental health field. Many of these positions are entry-level, but they can be a great way to gain experience and determine if you might be interested in pursuing a doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology .

Some possible job titles in this area include:

    • Behavioral counselor
    • Health project coordinator
    • Psychiatric technician
    • Rehabilitation specialist
    • Group home coordinator
    • Family services worker
    • Child protection worker
    • Child care supervisor

Jobs in Business, Sales, Marketing and Advertising

A master s degree in psychology also serves as excellent preparation for careers outside of psychology. Psychology graduates are often sought after by employers because they have strong interpersonal and written communication skills. A solid background in research and statistics might also qualify you to work in areas such as market research.

    • Human resources manager
    • Advertising agent
    • Market researcher
    • Employee trainer
    • Public relations representative
    • Project manager
    • Sales representative
    • Store manager

The Job Outlook With a Master s Degree in Psychology

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of psychologists is expected to grow at a rate of 19 percent through the year 2024, which is much faster than the average rate of all occupations.

However, the handbook notes that candidates with a master’s degree will face competition for most positions, and many of them will find jobs with alternative titles, as nearly all states restrict the use of the title “psychologist” to Ph.D. or Psy.D. degreeholders.

The need for trained professionals to help boost worker productivity and retention is expected to help drive the increased demand for industrial-organizational psychologists. However, because of the number of people seeking these positions, the competition for such jobs is expected to be quite high.

    A Word From Verywell

There are plenty of things you can do master s degree in psychology, but it is also important to understand the potential limitations of such degree. While some states allow master s degree-holders to practice psychotherapy and assessment under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the use of the title of psychologist is usually restricted only to those with a doctorate-level degree.

The master s option can be a stepping stone to a doctorate, but it also offers a number of job options on its own. By understanding what is available with your degree, you will stand a greater chance of gaining employment in your specialty area.

    Transact-SQL Reference (Transact-SQL)

Transact-SQL is central to using SQL Server. All applications that communicate with an instance of SQL Server do so by sending Transact-SQL statements to the server, regardless of the user interface of the application.

The following is a list of the kinds of applications that can generate Transact-SQL:

    • General office productivity applications.
    • Applications that use a graphical user interface (GUI) to let users select the tables and columns from which they want to see data.
    • Applications that use general language sentences to determine what data a user wants to see.
    • Line of business applications that store their data in SQL Server databases. These applications can include both applications written by vendors and applications written in-house.
    • Transact-SQL scripts that are run by using utilities such as sqlcmd .
    • Applications created by using development systems such as Microsoft Visual C++, Microsoft Visual Basic, or Microsoft Visual J++ that use database APIs such as ADO, OLE DB, and ODBC.
    • Web pages that extract data from SQL Server databases.
    • Distributed database systems from which data from SQL Server is replicated to various databases, or distributed queries are executed.
    • Data warehouses in which data is extracted from online transaction processing (OLTP) systems and summarized for decision-support analysis.

Mental health counselors are trained to provide a full range of services such as assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, overview of types of interventions for individual, group, and family counseling, addictions related assessments and interventions, prevention programs, and crisis and disaster related management and interventions.

The University of Wyoming Counselor Education Program is certified by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). This certification creates standards to ensure that students develop a professional counselor identity and master the knowledge and skills to practice effectively. CACREP is the major accrediting body for the counseling profession.

    Employment Prospects

While job prospects will vary with location and specialization, opportunities generally should be positive because the number of job openings that arise should exceed the number of graduates of counseling programs.

Master of Science in Clinical Child and School Psychology

Why Study Clinical Child and School Psychology at SIUE?

This program is highly unique as it is one of only a handful of combined clinical child and school psychology programs in the nation. It anticipated many developments in both school and clinical child psychology as it emphasizes prevention, the ecological/systems approach, and the consultative role of the psychologist. Further, the program focuses on evidence based practices, such as behavioral and cognitive interventions. Finally, practica experiences are seen as a critical and ongoing adjunct to the academic component of the program, with students engaging in practica every semester.

The program includes two tracks: the Clinical Child track and School Psychology track. These tracks are designed to serve the needs of two groups of students. Students in the Clinical Child track will be prepared to work with children, adolescents, and their families in the health system and other community agencies, under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers. Clinical child psychology students are also well-prepared to pursue doctoral education at other universities following completion of their Master’s degrees. Some clinical child students are interested in becoming licensed; for that reason, we provide a web page about licensure .

The School Psychology track prepares students with knowledge and skills necessary for further education and training in the specialist degree program in school psychology. Students pursuing certification in school psychology are admitted to the master’s degree program with the expectation that they will go on to complete the specialist degree program in school psychology. Students in the School Psychology Track who continue on for the specialist degree after completing the master’s degree are eligible for certification as school psychologists in Illinois.

Curriculum across both tracks is equivalent during the first four semesters of training; practicum experiences are provided across various types of settings. Coursework and training experiences during the second year of the program, and particularly the latter part, are increasingly focused on either Clinical Child or School psychology.

Unique Strengths of the SIUE Master s in Clinical Child and School Psychology

The program has a number of unique strengths that allow it to stand out as a premier program in the nation, which include:

    • One of only a few combined programs in the nation
    • Practica begins immediately, during students first semester, and continues every following semester.
    • Ongoing partnerships with local school districts, Head Start. juvenile detention, and other local agencies
    • Breadth of training, including courses in prevention, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention
    • One of less than ten school psychology programs in the nation to include a course on autism assessment and intervention
    • Hosts two clinics unique to the St. Louis region, which are the Attention Behavior Clinic (ABC) and the Comprehensive Autism Spectrum Evaluation (CASE) site
    • Program was established in 1970 and the Specialist Program in School Psychology has been continuously fully accredited by NASP since 1999
    • Students work closely with faculty to develop their own thesis or research project
    • Students commonly present research at the annual conferences of the National Association of School Psychologists, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, American Psychological Association, and other national organizations.
    • Students commonly coauthor research publications with program faculty.
    • Most importantly, you will learn from award-winning faculty!
    • Dr. Stephen Hupp received the SIUE Teaching Recognition Award in 2011.
    • Dr. Jeremy Jewell received the Mental Health Hero 2015 award from Wellspring Resources as well as the Vaughn Vandegrift Research Mentor award for the fall of 2012.
    • Dr. Elizabeth McKenney received the Extra Effort Award from Edwardsville School District 7 in 2014 and in 2013 received the Early Career Scholarship from the Trainers of School Psychologists.
    • In an analysis of publication productivity among school psychology faculty in all NASP-accredited, specialist-level programs (Laurent Runia, 2016 ), Drs. Jewell and Hupp were ranked the 24 th and 25 th most productive researchers in the U.S.A.
    • In the same analysis (Laurent Runia, 2016 ), SIUE’s school psychology graduate program was ranked seventh in the nation in scholarly productivity.

Due to a national shortage of school psychologists, job prospects are outstanding for students who complete the school specialist degree. Prospects for students in the clinical child track are also very good. After the completion of their Master’s degree, clinical child track students find employment in a variety of clinical and community agencies under the supervision of a licensed professional. Students in the clinical child track are also highly successful at getting accepted into doctoral programs if they choose to apply.

    Programs of Assertive Community Treatment

In order to expand mental health community services, the Mississippi Department of Mental Health has facilitated the formation of Programs of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) Teams in several areas of the state.

    What are PACT Teams?

PACT is a person-centered, recovery-oriented mental health service delivery model for facilitating community living, psychological rehabilitation and recovery for persons who have the most severe and persistent mental illnesses and have not benefited from traditional outpatient services.

PACT teams are mobile, delivering services to people in their homes and communities. This evidence-based program enables people to remain in their communities and reduce placements in inpatient environments. Evidence-based programs like PACT are essential to allowing people to stay in the communities of their choice and continue on their journeys of recovery.

Who is on a PACT Team?

Certified PACT Teams are required to employ a Certified Peer Support Specialist. Other PACT team members are from multidisciplinary backgrounds who share responsibility for addressing the needs of those served. The services they deliver are individually tailored to address each individual’s goals and preferences.

Who can benefit from PACT Team services?

PACT Teams are specifically for people who are living with serious mental illnesses and have had only limited success with staying in recovery through the use of traditional outpatient services. That includes people who are living with a disability due to their illness, who have difficulty in keeping follow-up appointments, and even those who have avoided their follow-up appointments or may feel they are not in need of any services.

Since PACT Teams are mobile and deliver services to individuals in their own communities, they are available to provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

PACT Teams enable people to continue living in their own homes and communities while still receiving services they need. Clients of PACT teams have been shown to be more independent, have lower rates of unemployment, earn more income, enjoy more positive relationships and have a higher satisfaction with their lives. Studies have shown that clients of PACT Teams have lower rates of inpatient treatment. In cases where hospitalization was needed, the length of stay was shorter than individuals who had not participated in PACT.

    Programs

Rosemead offers both a Ph.D. and a Psy.D. degree in Clinical Psychology. APA accredited since 1980, both programs produce practicing psychologists who possess strong clinical skills and an ability to integrate their faith and their field. Both programs require 133 semester hours and take five to six years to complete, including a year-long approved internship. In both programs an MA degree is awarded after the first two years if the degree requirements have been fulfilled.

Rosemead’s rich interdisciplinary study addresses the human condition through 31 units of theology courses and integration seminars. Taught by Christian psychologists and philosophers who hold biblical degrees, our coursework is founded upon a distinctly Christian worldview. This commitment extends the doctoral track approximately one year beyond most secular clinical programs. You will graduate with a minor in theology and biblical studies in addition to your master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology.

    Design of the Doctoral Programs

Rosemead’s doctoral programs in clinical psychology are designed primarily to train practitioners in professional psychology. They are designed for students interested in pursuing careers in applied areas of clinical psychology. While all students receive training in the basic areas of scientific psychology relevant to the practice of psychology, the focus of Rosemead’s doctoral training is on the development of professional skills and the utilization of theory and research in professional practice. Within this focus students may apply for either the Psy.D. program or the Ph.D. program. Approximately 67% of Rosemead’s students are enrolled in the Psy.D. and 33% in the Ph.D. Except in unusual circumstances, students do not change programs after admission.

While both the Psy.D. and Ph.D. have a common core of basic science and clinical courses, students enrolled Rosemead’s Psy.D. are generally preparing for full-time positions as psychological practitioners. Those enrolled in Rosemead’s Ph.D. are interested in combining clinical work with other psychological competencies, such as teaching and research. Research training in Rosemead’s Ph.D. program is strong in selected areas of ongoing faculty research. Thus the Ph.D. is particularly appropriate for students who desire both to develop quality clinical skills and research skills related to clinical practice.

The two programs (Psy.D. and Ph.D.) are very similar with regard to cost, time to completion, attrition, and internship placement. Specific information regarding tuition and fees may be obtained in the Financial Information section of the catalog. Scholarships, grants, loans, and teaching assistantships are available to Rosemead graduate students. Some of these are need-based (e.g. grants); some of them are competence-based (e.g. teaching assistantships). If you would like to apply for financial support, visit the Financial Aid website .

    Rosemead’s Mission and Training Models

The information presented in this section should be helpful to you in understanding the program differences and deciding which program would best match your preparation and career goals.

The mission of both Psy.D. and Ph.D. programs is the same:

The mission of Rosemead School of Psychology is to produce graduates who can integrate the science and practice of psychology with Christian theology, and who are prepared to meet the psychological needs of the world in general and the Christian community specifically through professional service and scholarship.

While the mission is the same, the training models are different for the doctoral programs. Both programs prepare psychological practitioners and virtually all of the graduates become licensed psychologists. The training models for practitioner programs are based on the core curriculum developed by the National Council of Schools and Programs in Professional Psychology (NCSPP). The training models for the programs are:

    Ph.D. Training Model: Scholar-Practitioner

    • Research Emphasis. The Ph.D. program requires a Masters level thesis, additional courses in research, and a dissertation (including a proposal, data colloquium, and oral defense.) This enhances the research preparation of Ph.D. students.

    Psy.D. Training Model: Practitioner-Scholar

    • Practitioner Emphasis. The Psy.D. program requires additional psychotherapy lab courses, an additional assessment course, and additional semester hours of practicum. This enhances the clinical preparation of Psy.D. students.

Faculty in the Ph.D. program emphasize the importance of excellent research preparation and the faculty-student ratio is approximately 1:5. Students in the Psy.D. program take more psychotherapy lab classes and practicum hours. Faculty in this program emphasize the importance of excellent clinical practice, and the faculty-student ratio is 1:8.

The differences between the Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs can be seen in the distinctions between the program goals, objectives, and competencies. These are presented in the table below and the differences are noted in italics.

    Program Outcomes

Both the Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs are designed to produce graduates who become licensed psychologists. According to the ASPPB website, 82.6% of Rosemead graduates who took the EPPP licensure exam between 2005-2009 passed the test. This compares to the average program pass rate of 76.6%.

The most recent self-study conducted on the Ph.D. program revealed the following student outcomes:

    1. Licensure rate: Our survey data indicates that 88% of our Ph.D. graduates are licensed within two years following graduation.
    2. Time to first job: The average Ph.D. graduate secured a job within one month of graduating from Rosemead. The alumni survey indicated that the mean time to securing the first job was approximately two weeks.
    3. Nature of current job: A survey of Ph.D. alumni revealed that the top five current jobs were: Community Mental Health Center (15.0%), Military Medical Center (15.0%), Medical Center (10.0%), Academic Teaching Position in a Doctoral Program (10.0%), and Academic Teaching Position in a Four-Year College (7.5%).
    4. Ph.D. job characteristics:
      • 96% of Ph.D. graduates have a job in the field of psychology.
      • 84% of Ph.D. graduates are involved in professional practice, and on average provide 31 hours of service per week.
      • On average 21%-30% of alumni caseloads are comprised of clients for whom spirituality is integrated into treatment.

The most recent self-study conducted on the Psy.D. program revealed the following student outcomes:

    1. Licensure rate: Our survey data indicates that 78% of our Psy.D. graduates are licensed within two years following graduation.
    2. Time to first job: The average Psy.D. graduate secured a job within one month of graduating from Rosemead. The alumni survey indicated that the median time to securing the first job was approximately one week.
    3. Nature of current job: A survey of Psy.D. alumni revealed that the top five current jobs were: Independent Practice (31.1%), Community Mental Health Center (27.9%), University Counseling Center (13.1%), Military Medical Center (4.9%), Medical Center (3.3%), Private Psychiatric Hospital (3.3%), and State/County Hospital (3.3%).
    4. Psy.D. job characteristics:
      • 89% of Psy.D. graduates have a job in the field of psychology.
      • 83% of Psy.D. graduates are involved in professional practice, and on average provide 25 hours of service per week.
      • On average 31%-40% of alumni caseloads are comprised of clients for whom spirituality is integrated into treatment.

    Master of Arts

A master’s degree is awarded as a student progresses in the doctoral program. Special application for a terminal master’s degree must be approved on an individual basis.

The Ph.D. degree program is designed for those who desire to produce research and teach as well as provide clinical services. This degree program requires more research coursework, a master’s level thesis, and a dissertation.

The Psy.D. degree program is designed for those who seek to understand and apply research rather than produce it. This program requires more psychotherapy lab courses and practicum units in order to emphasize enhanced clinical skills.
