Yosemite National Park Tourism: Best of Yosemite National Park

    Yosemite National Park, California

Tucked into the mountains of California, Yosemite National Park is renowned for its granite cliffs and waterfalls. Half Dome and El Capitan are two of the formations made famous by photographer Ansel Adams. The valley is open year-round for camping, hiking, and climbing. Traffic is congested during peak season and park rangers encourage visitors to use the free shuttle system. For upscale visits, the Ahwahnee Hotel, built in 1927, is chic and luxurious.

Advanced Certification: Hospice Palliative Chaplain Certification – The National Association of Catholic

    #hospice chaplain certification

    #

    Advanced Certification:
    Hospice Palliative Chaplain Certification

About Advanced Certification of Hospice Palliative Chaplaincy (ACHPC)

Palliative Medicine is a discipline that cultivates in each practitioner (nurse, physician, chaplain, social worker etc.) a servant’s heart and a sage’s mind. One’s effectiveness in this specialty can never be adequately assessed within a set of competencies and/or prescribed guidelines but rather in the human crucible of an integrated, interdisciplinary practice that draws equally from each one’s soulfulness as well as from each one’s skill and life experiences.

This specialty certification IS NOT about acquiring greater power or prestige, or mastering a particular set of skills/competencies or securing additional letters after one’s name, or delivering a stellar performance at the time of the interview.

This certification IS a special invitation for an individual candidate to go more deeply in one’s own spiritual life and to learn the way of the wounded healer – the way of authenticity, compassion, forgiveness, and healing. This disposition of mind and heart is cultivated from the inside out and flourishes in an environment where honesty, humility, and courage are in ample supply.

This certification process invites the candidate to befriend the blessing of paradox and begin to weave a tapestry of harmony within oneself (in solitude) and with others (in community). This process builds upon the foundational belief that “the patient and I are essentially the same” and in this actual ministering of one to the other (patient, family, staff, team members etc.) blest and broken, we become sacrament for each other and a living sign of God’s healing redemptive love in our world. Facilitation of this part of the certification assessment process will invite each candidate to draw from a living palette that evokes a blend of head and heart and is reflective of the human experience – both of the candidate and of those he/she serves.

The interview team will be interdisciplinary and will be specifically assessing the candidate for indications of ones’ personal integration and ongoing formation, as demonstrated by:

    • Major loss integration
    • Self-awareness understanding
    • Human to human availability
    • Understanding of relevant concepts
    • Team collaboration, leadership and education contributions

The interview team will discern together each applicant’s desire and capability to be a leader/innovator in recognizing and fostering an Interdisciplinary Team’s (IDT) continuing development in the areas of team respect, openness to new ideas and perspectives, and compassion for all involved in the palliative care/hospice arena. At the completion of the interview, the Interview Team votes to recommend or not to recommend the Applicant to the Certification Commission for certification. It is the decision of the Certification Commission to certify or not to certify.

Yolo Hospice Accepted into National Partnership for Hospice Innovation

    September 15, 2015

DAVIS, Calif. Sept. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Yolo Hospice, headquartered in Davis, has become one of just two California hospices to be accepted into the National Partnership for Hospice Innovation (NPHI).

NPHI is a nationwide collaborative of not-for-profit, community-integrated hospice and palliative care providers who play a unique role as a crucial safety net for the sickest, most vulnerable patients in their collective communities. According to Craig Dresang, Executive Director of Yolo Hospice, “The partnership’s vision is that every American receives exceptional care during their last stage of life, and that the care is consistent with each individual’s goals, values, and preferences. Members of the partnership invest heavily in bedside care, provide robust bereavement services, offer psychosocial and spiritual support, and consistently achieve the highest standard of care.”

A priority of NPHI is to stand as leaders in the provision of the highest quality hospice care, to document that leadership through gathering and disseminating data on quality and value, and to set the standard for excellence nationwide. Members, built from the union of the National Hospice Work Group and the Hospice Innovations Group, continue to serve as historic, longstanding leaders in hospice as guardians of the community interest in end-of-life care.

Dresang says of the partnership, “The key areas of focus include organizational excellence, strategic engagement, data collection and quality initiatives.” Some of the nation’s most highly regarded hospice and palliative care programs are among the group’s membership, including Nathan Adelson Hospice in Nevada, Capital Caring in Washington DC, VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care in New York, and Midwest CareCenter in Chicago, which is where Dresang was a hospice executive prior to his arrival at Yolo Hospice.

As the first established hospice in the Sacramento Valley, Yolo Hospice has the longest regional track record as experts in caring for people who have a life-limiting illness. They serve more than 180 communities in the five counties of Yolo, Colusa, Sacramento, Solano and Sutter.

The University of Connecticut is home to the Renzulli Center for Creativity, Gifted Education, and Talent Development. Studies focusing on meeting the needs of gifted and talented youth have received national and international attention for over 40 years. The earliest research emphasized studies related to creativity, assessment, identification, programming, and evaluation. Several studies conducted by our research team are considered seminal research that guides the design and development of programs and services to meet the needs of gifted and talented students. The research team includes Dr. Joseph S. Renzulli, Dr. Sally M. Reis, Dr. Del Siegle, Dr. E. Jean Gubbins, Dr. Catherine Little, and Dr. D. Betsy McCoach. The team poses questions such as the following that are theory-based and practice relevant.

    • Who are the gifted and talented students?
    • How do you screen and identify potentially gifted and talented students?
    • What are examples of defensible programs and services?
    • How can gifted education programs and practices enrich students’ learning opportunities?
    • What are the most effective approaches to reading and mathematics instruction for gifted and potentially gifted youngsters?
    • How can parents and educators effectively collaborate in support of gifted students?

Historical leadership in advocating a broadened conception of giftedness, and a focus on the development of potentials in groups not ordinarily included in special programs for the gifted and talented are hallmarks of the Renzulli Center for Creativity, Gifted Education, and Talent Development. These hallmarks affect all programs and services, including campus-based graduate programs leading to the Master of Arts degree, Sixth Year Certificate, and Doctor of Philosophy degree, as well as online programs designed for students throughout the world resulting in Master’s degrees and Sixth Year Certificates. Graduates hold key leadership and research roles throughout the nation and the world.

Research and teaching are further enhanced by grant-based initiatives. The only federally funded research organization, known as The National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented (NRC/GT), has existed since 1990 with various university partnerships. As of 2006, the University of Connecticut partnership is with the University of Virginia. The current research studies for the NRC/GT are an integrated approach to identifying, serving, and evaluating academic outcomes. In addition, two federally funded model projects continue their acclaimed work in reading (Schoolwide Enrichment Model-Reading) and mathematics (Project M 3. Mentoring Mathematical Minds).

The Schoolwide Enrichment Model and its predecessor, The Enrichment Triad Model, have led to the development of an exciting new technology-based learning system. The Renzulli Learning System is an on-line program matching students’ interests and learning styles to enrich and challenge their learning opportunities.

The Renzulli Center earned recognition for its summer professional learning experiences associated with Confratute (conference institute). As of 2012, Confratute celebrates the 35th anniversary of this dynamic approach to high-end learning experiences for educators and parents. The learning experiences mirror the theoretical and practical approaches advocated for gifted and talented students.

Rounding out the research and education programs is Mentor Connection, an inquiry-based research program for talented teens. Rising juniors and seniors from across the country are selected to participate in ongoing research projects by faculty and doctoral students. Young people experience all phases of research during their 3-week residential experience. As junior professionals, they summarize their learning through a research symposium at the conclusion of their mentorship experience.

The Renzulli Center for Creativity, Gifted Education and Talent Development comprises many unique teaching, research, and service components, some of which are highlighted above. Details of these components and others are found on the pages listed on the left panel.

VA regulations 38 CFR 1.218 prohibit the carrying of firearms (either openly or concealed), explosives or other dangerous or deadly weapons while on VA property, except for official purposes, such as military funeral honors. Possession of firearms on any property under the charge and control of VA is prohibited. Offenders may be subject to a fine, removal from the premises, or arrest.

    HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery is the second national cemetery built in Ohio and the 119th in the national cemetery system.

Currently, there are more than one million veterans living in the State of Ohio and approximately 540,000 residing in the cemetery s service area. The first two phases of construction, covering 65 acres of 273-acre cemetery, included 21,000 gravesites, 10,100 columbaria niches and 3,800 in-ground garden niches for cremated remains. At full capacity, Ohio Western Reserve can provide burial space for 106,000 eligible veterans and dependents, beyond the year 2050.

Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery lies approximately 45 miles south of Cleveland in Medina County near the town of Seville. The cemetery s name refers to the part of the Northwest Territory formerly known as the Connecticut Western Reserve, a tract of land in Northeast Ohio reserved by the State of Connecticut when it ceded its claims for western lands to the U.S. government in 1786.

    Monuments and Memorials
Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery features a pathway that is lined with memorials that honor America s veterans, which have been donated by various organizations. As of 2017, there were 139 memorials, most commemorating events and troops of 20th century war.

    About Hospice at Home

    New!

Download our Audit Package for Hospice at Home services. More

    Aim

Hospice at Home aims to enable patients with cancer or other advanced illness to be cared for at home, and to die at home if that is their preference. Care may be provided to prevent admission to an inpatient unit, for respite or crisis management, or for longer periods of time. Care is intended to be of the highest possible standard so as to enhance the quality of life of patients, carers and families.

    Philosophy

Hospice at Home is an integral component of palliative home care, bringing the skills, ethos and practical care associated with Hospice into the home environment and putting the patient and those who matter to them at the centre of care. Palliative home care forms a spectrum from advisory and educational roles to hands-on care, in response to the changing needs of the patient and carers.

    Hospice Care

What is the difference between hospice and palliative care?

Where can people learn more about hospice?

What is hospice, and how is it used in cancer care?

Hospice is a special type of care in which medical, psychological, and spiritual support are provided to patients and their loved ones when cancer therapies are no longer controlling the disease. Hospice care focuses on controlling pain and other symptoms of illness so patients can remain as comfortable as possible near the end of life. Hospice focuses on caring, not curing. The goal is to neither hasten nor postpone death. If the patient s condition improves or the cancer goes into remission. hospice care can be discontinued and active treatment may resume. Choosing hospice care doesn t mean giving up. It just means that the goal of treatment has changed.

The hospice team usually includes doctors, nurses, home health aides, social workers, clergy or other counselors, and trained volunteers. The team may also include speech, physical, and occupational therapists, if needed. A hospice team member is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support. The hospice team will work with the patient on the patient s goals for end-of-life care, not a predetermined plan or scenario. Hospice care is very individualized.

Hospice services may include doctor or nursing care, medical supplies and equipment, home health aide services, short-term respite (relief) services for caregivers, drugs to help manage cancer-related symptoms, spiritual support and counseling, and social work services. Patients families are also an important focus of hospice care, and services are designed to give them assistance and support.

Hospice care most often takes place at home. However, hospice care can also be delivered in special in-patient facilities, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Who is eligible for hospice care?

Under most insurance plans in the United States, including Medicare. acceptance into hospice care requires a statement by a doctor and the hospice medical director that the patient has a life expectancy of 6 months or less if the disease runs its normal course. The patient also signs a statement saying that he or she is choosing hospice care. (Hospice care can be continued if the patient lives longer than 6 months, as long as the hospice medical director or other hospice doctor recertifies the patient s condition.)

The hospice team or insurance provider can answer questions about whether specific care decisions, such as getting a second opinion or participating in a clinical trial while in hospice care, would affect eligibility for hospice services.

How can people get help paying for hospice services?

Medicare and most Medicaid and private insurance plans cover hospice services.

Medicare is a government health insurance program for the elderly and disabled that is administered by the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS). The Medicare hotline can answer general questions about Medicare benefits and refer people to their regional home health intermediary for information about Medicare-certified hospice programs. The hotline number is 1 800 MEDICARE (1 800 633 4227); callers with TTY equipment can call 1 877 486 2048. The booklet Medicare Hospice Benefits is available on the Medicare website. The Hospice and Respite Care page, also on the Medicare website, has answers to frequently asked questions about Medicare coverage for hospice and respite care .

Medicaid, a federal-state partnership program that is part of CMS and is administered by each state, is designed for people who need financial assistance for medical expenses. Information about coverage is available from local state welfare offices, state public health departments, state social services agencies, or the state Medicaid office. Information about specific state locations can also be found online .

Information about the types of costs covered by a particular private policy is available from a hospital business office or hospice social worker, or directly from the insurance company.

Local civic, charitable, or religious organizations may also be able to help patients and their families with hospice expenses.

What is the difference between hospice and palliative care?

Although hospice and palliative care share the same principles of providing comfort and support for patients, palliative care is available throughout a patient s experience with cancer, whereas hospice is offered only toward the end of life. A person s cancer treatment continues to be administered and assessed while he or she is receiving palliative care, but with hospice care the focus has shifted to just relieving symptoms and providing support. The NCI fact sheet Palliative Care in Cancer has more information about palliative care.

Where can people learn more about hospice?

The following organizations can provide more information about hospice.

The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization s Caring Connections website offers information and publications focused on improving end-of-life care for adults and children. The site includes a database of national hospice programs. Some Spanish-language publications are available.

The Hospice Association of America distributes publications on such topics as the history of hospice, the benefits of hospice, hospice-related statistics, and locations of hospice organizations.

The Hospice Education Institute operates HOSPICELINK, a toll-free telephone service that provides referrals to hospice and palliative care programs in the United States. HOSPICELINK also provides information about the principles and practices of good hospice and palliative care.

Hospice Net provides information and support to patients facing life-threatening illnesses and to their families and friends.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) provides free fact sheets and publications about hospice. The address of a local ACS chapter can be obtained by calling the organization s toll-free telephone number.

    “Ptarmigan Inn, Banff”

Hotel was very nice, staff very friendly. Rooms were clean and looked after. When I called to book the room, the girl I spoke with did some checking and found me a great deal, including breakfast each morning. The hotel is right downtown and an easy walk to all the other amenities. I would certainly stay here again.

“top value for money for the location and breakfast”

This is still only a 3 star hotel but for snowboarding Lake Louise and Sunshine this location is unbeatable. I could not believe the price as it is comparable to what we pay for a hostel in the snow at Thredbo (which says more about the prices in Thredbo). This hotel had the shuttles stop right in front (no joke, you could fall out of the reception area to the bus stop). Had a hot breakfast each morning before riding. It was included in the room rate.

Everyone know what website design is all about, so today we are going to talk more about hosting!

    Hosting – What is it?

Hi everyone, the first thing we are going to do is run through some terminology and explain how the process of setting up a website works and what hosting is. Understanding the terminology and basics of how a website works will make your life much easier when it comes to setting everything up. There are hundreds if not thousands of hosting companies out there. https://www.afterfivebydesign.com/hosting/ is one of them.

So let’s talk about hosting, before you ever create a website you need to have somewhere to host it. What this basically means is having physical space where your website is saved. Just like you have files saved on your computer, your website will be saved as files on a computer or “server” that is owned by your hosting company. This server is always connected to the internet and is what people connect to when they want to see your website. When you set up your hosting account you’re essentially renting some space on a server that you will upload your website to, that others can then access to view your site.

Setting up a hosting account for you website

Now that you understand what hosting is let’s create an account and get set up. The hosting site we use and our personal favorite is blue host. The reason that we like blue host so much and recommend it is its ease of use with WordPress which is the software we will use to build your site. WordPress is hands down the best place to build a website as it has many different integrated design options.

Hosting starts as low as $1 per month and WordPress is completely free. You can get with blue host or check out other popular hosting companies such as Go Daddy. Host Gator, Name cheap etc. There are many different hosting companies that offer very affordable hosting. The more you pay the better service obviously. However, you can easily get something worthwhile within the $5 range. Do not overthink this, hosting is just where you are going to store your website. Just find a well-known company and go with it.

Next we will choose our domain name, this just means your web address. I recommend using the name of your business, if this isn’t available take a moment and think of something else that you like the sound of. Remember that your domain will represent your brand. You will also use this domain to host your email address, so please choose wisely. This domain will be tired to you for the duration of your business, so it has to be something that sounds good. Don’t go for complicated names or extensions, try to get a .com and move on.

Finally, I really recommend the domain privacy protection. The reason I recommend this is that without it when you create your site all of your information will go into a public database and the one time I didn’t do it I started to receive a lot of spam email and phone calls and the 99 cents per month to me is worth avoiding that. Web design companies try to sell you hosting at a premium where you can get it at a fraction of the cost. After five by design portland maine has a cheap hosting service to all it s website design clients. The cost starts from like $10 a month! So its worth checking these guys out located in Portland Maine

    National Contract Management Association Reviews

I have been working at National Contract Management Association full-time (Less than a year)

    * NCMA promotes from within and there is someone in almost every department (marketing, certification, chapters) who started as a coordinator and moved up.
    * Good benefits overall AND the office is closed for the week between Christmas and New Year.
    * NCMA is willing to let staff grow in their positions and offers training to enable staff to master new skills.
    * The members (contract managers) are very professional and good to work with.
    * NCMA is on strong financial footing and some staff members have been in their positions 6+ years. Raises are good and overall people are happy.

There is no place to buy lunch within walking distance.

    – Staff is motivated and dedicated to helping the contract management profession (which some of the staff didn t know about when they started). Staff always keeps members top of mind.

    – Office culture is hard working, but also understanding when people have appointments or commitments outside of work.

    – Paid federal holidays, and the week between Christmas and New Years the office is closed.

    – The organization is well positioned in its industry, and has great respect among its members.

    – Each department is trusted by management to run their program area with minimal interference, if anything just support.

    – Many staff have been promoted from within. More than half of the departments employ someone who started in member services or another department.

We re all human and learn as we go, so we ve all made mistakes, but learned from them!

    Advice to Management

Continue to be open to feedback from employees and continue to encourage collaboration. Continue to encourage work life balance, its a fabulous way to ensure happy employees.

The Membership team including the Director were the most kind hearted, sincerest employees you could work with. They gave you constructive criticism and very reliable.

A lot of office politics and two-faced behaviors. The Marketing department is crude, vulgar, unprofessional, and HATED within the office. The Marketing Director is the only pleasant one. Management offers little to no support and there s no real consequences.

Staff outings are a joke because the marketing, events and graphic design team stay among themselves and talk negatively about the whole office. Defeats the purpose of having staff outings.

Working here caused me severe social anxiety and depression. No one wants to go into work feeling that way.

    Advice to Management

Hire a Human Resources person to make sure employees are compliant.

Administer drug tests (You’d be surprised how many employees would fail)
Hire more pleasant people with better teamwork skills – in addition they should have better morale and ethics.

Prevent your employees leaving hours at a time during lunch breaks. You won’t believe how many people I witnessed leave to get car emissions done and go to happy hour DURING work hours.

    Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

Areas with poor drainages support swamp forests, while other parts dissected by deep, expansive gorges have numerous streams tumbling through, creating rapids, waterfalls and standstill pools. It is, however, not merely the forest and landscape that are so diversified.

The variable climate and large altitudinal gradient have helped to produce an amazingly heterogeneous set of creatures that live here. Some of these include the jaguar, ocelot, Baird s tapir, three-wattled bellbird, bare-necked umbrellabird, and the famously elusive resplendent quetzal.

History. In the early 1950s, a group of Quakers from the United States left their homes in Alabama and arrived in Monteverde at a time when the region was just beginning to be settled. The Quakers, fleeing the United States to avoid being drafted into the Korean War, established a simple life in Monteverde centered on dairy and cheese production. Some of these families helped establish the Monteverde and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserves some 20 years later.

In 1972, the Monteverde rainforest was threatened by local farmers looking to expand their property and homestead on certain forest sites. With this prospect in mind, visiting scientists George Powell and his wife joined forces with longtime resident Wildford Guidon to promote the establishment of a nature preserve. The Tropical Science Center, a non-governmental scientific and environmental organization, proved receptive to the efforts of the Powells and Guidon, and accepted institutional responsibility for ownership and management of the protected areas. An initial land purchase of 328 hectares formed the core of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve.

Following the preserve’s creation, the Tropical Science Center continued to secure the financial and human resources necessary to expand, consolidate, and properly protect the preserve s current 10,500 hectares. See more Monteverde photos .

Hours. For daily schedules and rates, please click the tour reservation options below. Children ages 6 and under are free.

Information. The restaurant, souvenir shop and art gallery are open from 7 AM to 4 PM. There are restrooms at the entrance but none on the trails.

Location. 3.6 miles (6 km) SE of Santa Elena, Monteverde. See Monteverde map for more information.

Getting there. Buses heading to the reserve leave from the Banco Nacional in Santa Elena at 6:15 AM, 7:20 AM and 1:15 PM. Return buses leave the reserve at 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Cost is $1 each way. Visitors can board the bus anywhere along the road between the town of Santa Elena and the entrance of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Those that do not wish to take the bus can take a taxi either way, which costs around $10 (for up to five passengers) each way.

Hiking Trails in Monteverde. The trails here are well maintained. Regular shoes are fine, as long as you are able to walk comfortably. There is no need for rubber boots or hiking shoes for daily trips. You may, however, need this type of footwear if you plan on staying overnight in one of the huts.

    Trails Description

Sendero Bosque Nuboso (Cloud Forest Trail): 1.2 miles (1.9 KM) long with an elevation gain of 213 feet (65 m), this trail generally takes around 1.5 hours to complete. A self-guided tour booklet of the trail available in both English and Spanish can be purchased at the entrance. This is one of the most popular trails because it’s extremely pretty and has good examples of strangler fig plants.

El Camino (The Road): 1.2 miles (2 km) long with an elevation gain of 131 feet (40 m), this trail generally takes around 1.25 hours to complete. It is wider and more open than other trails, allowing for more sunlight and thus more butterflies. This trail is also excellent for bird watching.

Sendero Pantanoso (Swamp Trail): 1 mile (1.6 km) long with an elevation gain of 131 feet (40 m), this trail takes around 1.25 hours to complete. It passes through a swamp forest while traversing along the Continental Divide, and is adorned with magnolias, plants bearing stilt roots, podocarpus (the only conifer tree in the preserve), and more.

Sendero El R o (River Trail): 1.2 miles (1.9 km) long with an elevation gain of 213 feet (65 m), this trail takes around 1.5 hours to complete. This trail leads along the Quebrada Cuecha and has a short side trail to a waterfall, where there are several zapote trees.

Sendero Chomogo: 1.1 miles (1.8 km) long with an elevation gain of 492 feet (150 m), this trail generally takes about 1.25 hours to complete. This is the highest trail in the preserve, reaching 5,510 feet (1,680 m) above sea level. Oak, bamboo and heliconia are common in the higher areas, and hot lip plants abound throughout most of the walk.

Sendero George Powell (George Powell Trail): 0.1 mile (0.2 km) long with an elevation gain of 66 ft (20 m), this trail takes about 10 minutes to complete. This trail, named after one of the preserve s founders, runs through second growth forest.

Sendero Brillante (Shining Trail): 0.2 miles (0.3 km) long with an elevation gain of 49 feet (16 m), this trail takes about 10 minutes to walk. You are led along the Continental Divide to La Ventana (The Window), an overlook with a wide view of an elfin forest below. Bamboo is common along much of this trail.

Sendero Roble (Oak Trail): 0.4 miles (0.6 km) long, this lovely trail is narrow and leads to a beautiful grove of heliconia trees.

Suspended Bridge. 300 feet (100 meters) high, this bridge has spectacular views of the canopy, bromeliads, orchids and more. For a tour of all five suspended bridges, see Sky Walk

Wilford Guindon. Named in honor of one of the preserve s founder, this trail rises and falls through patches of sunlight.

Highest Interest Rate on Bank Fixed Deposits for Senior Citizens July 2017

The post lists down the rate of interest on Bank fixed deposits for Senior Citizens as of July 4, 2017.

You might want to bookmark this page as the FD interest rates would be updated every month. Would help you in better decision making.

    Fixed Deposit Highlights:

    • Most banks offer FDs for tenure of 7 Days to 10 Years.
    • The Ratnakar Bank IDBI Bank do offer fixed deposits up to 20 years too .
    • For very short Term Deposits the interest rate is similar to that of Savings Account and so you should not worry about FD. Also Interest up to Rs 10,000 in Saving Account is Tax free .
    • Most banks compound interest quarterly
    • Banks offer Loan/Overdraft against the amount available in Fixed Deposit. The interest is generally 0.5% to 1% more than that offered to FD.
    • TDS (Tax deduction at source) at the rate of 10% is deducted, if the interest income is more than Rs 10,000 in financial year per bank. You can fill Form15G/H
    • You can fill Form15G/H if you want to avoid TDS .

    Fixed Deposit Interest Rates:

For comparing the best interest rates on fixed deposits over different duration of investment, we have it divided into following 5 slabs:

    • FD for Less than 1 Year
    • FD for 1 to 2 years
    • FD for 2 to 5 Years
    • FD for 5 to 10 years
    • FD for More than 10 years

We show the highest interest rates on fixed deposits for the above duration buckets. We have also compared the best interest rates on offer by that being offered by State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank and Post Offices.

Interest Rate (Senior Citizens) for FD Less than 1 Year:

The highest interest rate is offered by The Ratnakar Bank (241 days to 364 days) at 7.60% .

    Shankar Iyer says:

I suppose there has to be an extensive study before stats are pur out esp. with reference to Ratnakar Bank. If you could check Varacha Bank, Surat Peoples Bank, Sutex Bank, Sarvoday Coop Bank ( all coop banks in Surrat) whose financials are available and NPAs are available for view. These give better returns than Ratnakar. Also, see Gujarat Rajya Karmachari Coop Bank. Investments upto Rs. 1 lac is insured. Also, the investor needs to be educated on the maneouveing of applicant names while opening accounts with coop banks, so that only the benefit of sr citizen is obtained, but the deposits are also insured.

I agree with your views and you can use various combinations of names of account holders to get benefit of deposit insurance. Historically co-operative banks have been riskier and so they offer higher interest rate. Also claiming insurance in case of default is not easy and it may take time. So it s individuals call weather to take risk for slightly higher interest rates.

    PEX REPIPE SPECIALIST

Uponor Pex Repipe – The World’s First, Best, And Most Widely Used System For Single Family Homes And Residential Units.

    What is PEX?

PEX is an acronym for crosslinked polyethylene. It is a flexible, durable, proven piping product that has been used in plumbing systems for more than 20 years. PEX tubing won’t pit, scale or corrode and, because of its flexibility, it also offers potential freeze-damage protection.

Residential Commercial Pex Plumbing. Call Toll Free 877-473-7473

Uponor Pex plumbing systems feature PEX-a tubing, which is considered the superior PEX tubing manufacturing method in the industry. PEX-a is the most flexible of all PEX types, and because of its shape and thermal memory, it can use ProPEX expansion fittings which are the only fitting system that actually gets stronger over time – making it highly leak resistant.

    1) Repiping in a home begins at the transition point.

    2) The transition point is the point where the potable water system enters the building from the exterior of the building.

    3) Repiping a potable water system means you totally abandon the existing potable system and replace it with a new system.

    4) The first step in repiping your home is masking or “covering” the floors, and this must be completed before the walls are masked off. This overlap “ enveloped ” system allows the plastic sheeting to be rolled up in one continuous motion.

    5) Cutting the sheetrock: You will be shocked at how little sheetrock has to be removed for the layout and installation of a new potable water system. A real Pex Plumber is an expert at HVAC, framing, plumbing, and electrical layout, and will lay out the home pex repipe in the most effective route. The better the repiper. the smaller and fewer the drywall holes!

    6) A “GREEN REPIPE” potable water system refers to a Pex repipe potable system only – such as UPONOR or ZURN with corrosion resistant fittings. CPVC and copper systems are not green systems.

    7) The drywall pieces that are removed must be used in the patching process as each texture is a little different in thickness. This gives you a uniform surface thickness as you start the repair process. Each piece goes back in the hole it came from.

    8) Repipe with an approved material. There are currently three main materials used in pex repiping jobs across the US: copper pipe and fittings, CPVC pipe and fittings, and PEX repipe and fittings. (DO NOT USE CPVC, IT IS THE NEXT POLYBUTYLENE)

    9) Repipe inspections must be performed by the local building inspectors after the repipe is completed, with the system under full water pressure.

    10) The signed inspection card must be given to the homeowner after the PEX repipe inspection is completed.

    11) Drywall repair begins after all the necessary backing has been installed. Backing supports the drywall pieces that were removed to access the potable water pipes and accommodate the repiping of a new Pex repipe or copper potable water system.

    12) The fiberglass mesh tape must be used 100% of the time.

    13) The patches must be pre-filled with quick set patching compound. The compound comes in 18lb bags, and because it is a powder, it must be mixed with water. This locks the perimeter of each patch and will make the area of the patch stronger than it was before the work process began. The reason this is important is that when you close the doors in the house, the walls flex just a little bit, and if you do not perform this method of repair, the patch will fracture over time from the flex/vibration caused by shutting the doors.

    14) Do not coat the drywall patches with regular all-purpose joint compound on the repipe patches. This is a common practice and the patches will crack later 100% of the time, even if it’s years later.

    15) Coat all the repipe drywall patches with quick set patching compound only. USG will do and you can find it at any home and hardware store, or you will have fractures in the walls at the patch locations.

    16) Float all the walls with quick set patching compound and use a 12″ drywall knife and stagger each coat until the walls become smooth and flat. The next step is wet sanding the patches and this must be done if you want the patches to blend in perfectly after the texture is applied. The reason you’ve seen bad patches in the past is that repairmen do not know how to “kill the edges.” This is an old drywall term that means you must do the detail wet sanding work and there is no short cut.

    17) Texture to match the existing texture, and this is not as easy as you might think. This is a real art form for the few that know what they are doing. Also, if the texture is spray texture, you must sponge off the overspray for the texture to match. Nothing gives away the location of a patch more than overspray that is painted over and not “killing the edges.”

    18) Paint to match the existing paint. All repipe companies color match the same way. They run down to their local hardware store and have the computer color matching done by the man behind the counter. This is beginner color matching. The proper way to color match is hand color matching. First, match the paint sheen. Second, computer match for the base color. Third, tint for color adjustment. Fourth, match the color and sheen after the paint sample has dried. Repeat if necessary. Did you know that the paint color on the wall after it dries will be different than the paint color while it is wet and in the can?

    19) If you follow the basic repiping rules, after a very short time you will not be able to point out all the drywall patches from the repair. You will simply forget where the holes were due to the patches receiving the proper floating, texture and painting techniques. Your friends, neighbors, relatives, and even plumbing contractors will not be able to find the patches.

    20) This is a basic guideline for a home repipe. and if done, properly you will have a repipe that was done as well as a repipe can be done.

At Integrity Repipe. we provide total abandonment of your existing potable system, and there are never hidden extras, and we don’t hire subcontractors. You’ll receive nothing but the finest, most complete and professional job in the industry. The scope will be for a lead-free and yellow brass -free potable “GREEN SYSTEM” with a full lifetime warranty that covers material and labor.

When Can You Claim a Tax Deduction for Health Insurance?

Each year, June 28 marks National Insurance Awareness Day, serving as a reminder that it’s a good time to review your insurance coverage and ensure that it still fits your needs.

This is particularly true for health insurance and making sure you have the right amount of coverage at an affordable cost.

Health insurance can be expensive, so being able to claim a tax deduction for some of your insurance costs can help you save come tax time.

Since there are specific rules and qualifications you must follow, here’s an overview of when you can and cannot claim a tax deduction on your health insurance.

When health insurance is not tax-deductible

If you didn’t pay for health insurance, you can’t take a tax deduction for it. If your employer pays your health insurance premiums, you can’t deduct those costs. However, if an employer only pays for part of your premiums, you still may be able to claim a tax deduction for the portion you paid.

If you received a subsidy or premium tax credit to purchase an insurance plan in the Health Insurance Marketplace through the Affordable Care Act, any advanced-payment subsidy that lowered the cost of your health insurance premiums cannot be claimed as a tax deduction. However, the money you paid out of your own pocket for your premiums might be tax deductible.

You can’t take a deduction for health insurance you paid for with pre-tax money. If you have insurance through your employer, the premiums you pay are usually taken out of your paycheck before your income taxes are calculated. Since these premiums are paid with pre-tax dollars, they’re already income-tax-free, meaning you can’t claim them as a tax deduction.

Also note, you can not deduct health insurance unless you itemize your tax deductions or you are self-employed. You don t need to know if you qualify for itemized tax deductions, TurboTax will figure it out for you.

    When health insurance is tax-deductible

If you’re self-employed, your health insurance premiums may be tax deductible. If you’re self-employed and not eligible for an employer-sponsored health plan through a spouse’s job, you may be eligible to write-off your health insurance premiums on your taxes. However, you can’t write off more in health insurance premiums than you earned.

Health insurance premiums paid with your own after-tax dollars are tax deductible. For example, if you purchased health insurance on your own through a health insurance exchange or directly from an insurance company, the money you paid toward your monthly premiums can be taken as a tax deduction.

Some Medicare plans are tax deductible. This includes Medicare Part B and Part D prescription coverage.

There are limits to the amount of your health insurance you can deduct. If you are able to write-off your health insurance, there are limits to how much of your premiums you can write off.

If you’re able to claim your health insurance as a medical expense deduction. you can only deduct medical expenses that exceed 10% of your adjusted gross income (7.5% if you’re 65 or older). If you’re self-employed and claimed the self-employed health insurance deduction, you don’t have to exceed the 10% threshold because you’re writing the premiums off as an adjustment to your self-employment income rather than as a tax deduction deduction.

As with all tax laws, TurboTax is up-to-date with the latest tax law changes. If you have more questions about the Affordable Care Act and how it impacts you and your taxes, you can get answers from TurboTax Health .

    Reassure America Life Insurance Company

Jackson National Life Insurance Company today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Reassure America Life Insurance Company from Swiss Re. and will pay $621 million in cash for the business, subject to adjustment by earnings before interest tax EBIT to reflect the value of the business at closing. The purchase will be financed entirely from internal Jackson resources. Reassure America will retain a portion of the SRLC business through reinsurance arrangements to be undertaken prior to completeing the transaction. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2012.

On December 31, 2012 Reassure America Life Insurance Company (Reassure) was acquired by and merged into Jackson National Life Insurance Company (Jackson). All long term disability insurance and life insurance formerly handled by Reassure will now be handled by Jackson. Throughout 2013 Jackson National Life sent notice to all reassure life disability policy holders informing them of the new ownership. It is unusual that Jackson National Life purchased Reassure, as Jackson has little to no experience in the disability insurance business. It is likely that the employees of reassure life insurance will continue to manage and administer the long term life disability insurance claims for Jackson. The merger between Jackson and Reassure should not have a negative affect on any Reassure policy holders. Jackson does not have a track record of handling disability insurance claims so we will need to see what happens over the next few years.

SRLC is a reassured life insurance business that sits within the US division of Swiss Re’s Admin Re®. The primary operating subsidiary of SRLC is Reassure America Life Insurance Company (REALIC), which, since 1995, has completed a significant number of stock acquisitions and reinsurance arrangements through which it has acquired a diverse portfolio of traditional US life insurance business. The earnings of SRLC are derived from seasoned, long-duration cash flows generated principally from term life, whole life and basic universal life products. Jackson will acquire assets related to Reassure America valued at
approximately $10 billion and approximately 1.5 million insurance and disability policies.

    Who are School Psychologists?

School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.

School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e. school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies, work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.
