The atmosphere here is calming, the facility is new, and the decor is tasteful. Around every turn there is something else to be pleasantly surprised by: live plants, a grand piano, a spa, a children s play area, bird feeders, surround sound in the rooms, stars projected onto the ceiling, the resident therapy pup. However, the real stars here are the staff. They cared for my grandma wonderfully during her final days, and the rest of my family as well. We never felt neglected or out of the loop and they went above and beyond to be sure the entire clan was comfortable. Hospice of Dayton is a very good choice for end-of-life and palliative care. As a nurse, I ve been to several other hospices, and this one outshines the others by far. I recommend this facility without reservation.

Fowl play! Looks like the translation machines are offline right now. We’re working hard to revive them. Please try again later.

Example: There are a few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and planned that it is nothing short of genius. Last night, I had one of those meals – the Mahi Mahi.

The dish was excellently prepared. Grilled, juicy, and fresh without a hint of fishiness. A glaze of tangerine sauce brought a hint of tart sweetness. The fish was placed on a mound of sweet plantain rice. The combination of the fish and rice alone was to die for!

However, as only expert chefs can achieve, additional garnishes provided even bolder, beautiful tastes. Pickled onions topping the fish made for an even finer taste experience, while green beans hidden under the fish added freshness and completed each bite

Specialties

Our Mission – Providing superior care and superior services to honor the lives of patients and families we have the privilege of serving. We guarantee access to superior end-of-life care for all people in the communities we serve, regardless of ability to pay. Our services are available in patient homes, hospitals, extended care and assisted living facilities, and in our two Hospice Houses.

History

Established in 1978.

Hospice of Dayton is a genuine Dayton original. Founder Betty Schmoll led the effort to create a new service to address the needs of those with life-limiting illnesses and solicited support from members of the Miami Valley healthcare community, which contributed resources and nursing staff to establish a non-profit, community supported hospice. Schmoll s innovative and inspirational leadership led to the founding of Hospice of Dayton in 1978. Dayton was one of only a handful of cities across the nation to dedicate resources to such an effort.

Home Health Aides

A Hospice Home Health Aide provides basic personal care for the hospice patient. They will often be the team member who spends the most amount of time with the patient and their family since they are the ones providing personal care services in the patient’s home and assisting them with the activities of daily living (ADLs).

All Caring Hospice Home Health Aides are compassionate personnel that provide care and help with light housekeeping chores as well as personal care services to hospice patients. The home health aide is an important part of the All Caring Hospice care team and participates in meetings in which the patient’s health and care plan is discussed.

The following list is comprised of services which a home health aide may provide to the patient.

In Home Care Services

  • Bedside care/visits
  • Bathing: shower, bed bath, tub bath
  • Dressing and grooming (make-up hair care)
  • Shaving and nail care
  • Communication with health care team
  • Accompanying patients to activities

Whenever hospice care is provided to patients who reside in a free standing care facility (nursing home, hospice home, hospital), the role of the hospice home health aide is designed to provide direct patient care on an intermittent basis. Care provided is supplemental and above and beyond the care that the facility is already providing. Hospice Home Health Aides are there to add to rather than replace normal or routine nursing care provided by the care facility.

Columbus, OH Hotel Guide

You’re sitting on a riverfront patio, sipping a fine wine. Your ear detects a rumble in the distance – one that could only be the unanimous cheer of a gaggle of boisterous Buckeyes fans. Then, suddenly, a monarch butterfly dances through the air, landing on the edge of your table. He must have escaped from the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and decided to flutter through the fresh evening air. Welcome to Columbus, Ohio’s thriving capital, a destination booming with optimism.

Ohio State University is the pulse of Columbus, imbuing the heart of the community with an energy you’ll feel as soon as you arrive. Go ahead, ride that wave during your vacation in the heartland. By day, you’ll investigate the ever-growing food scene, sinking your teeth into sultry bites of gooey cheese and fusion fare. By night, you’ll lay your head on a perfectly plump pillow and dream of a Buckeyes win in cozy Columbus lodging.

Visiting Columbus

Your plane touches down and you make a beeline for your hotel. When you’re booked at one of the top places to stay in Columbus, getting checked in is a breeze. After getting your bags unpacked in one of the family friendly hotels in Columbus. a sense of excitement fills you. You ponder where to begin your journey through the state capital. Then you remember the sage words of novelist William S. Burroughs: “Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.” After a deep, enriching breath and a few moments of clarity you decide to ask a seasoned local to help you navigate their bustling city.

Encountering proud Ohioans on the sidewalk, something will become immediately clear. The eclectic answers you receive are a testament to the diverse array of things to do in Columbus. Emphatic athletes encourage you to procure tickets to a Columbus Crew soccer match at Mapfre Stadium. And lo, if you attend, the frenetic buzz of the local fans will awaken in you a deep love of the gold and black. Cheering in the stands, you’re reminded of high school games spent in the stands among your oldest friends. Bliss.

An artistic local will suggest you pay a visit to the German Village, an invitation you can’t turn down. As you slowly meander down charming cobblestone streets and past enchanting brick buildings, a sense of whimsy seems to chase you down every thoroughfare. You’ll pick up a unique treasure at a quaint neighborhood shop, and then hear Frank Fetch Park whispering to you. Frolic through its green space and past old world iron fences. Have you traveled through time to the 1800s? If it weren’t for the modern amenities calling you back to hotels in Columbus, you might choose to believe it and stay forever.

Eating and Drinking

To become familiar with any new city is to devour its regional delicacies with fervor. Can you really know cities like Chicago or Brooklyn without feeling the grease of fresh pizza run down your fingers as you bite into a mountain of cheese protecting a smooth layer of savory marinara? The food in Columbus is no different; it not only feeds your appetite, but also your soul and your desire to become one with the cherished local traditions here. At the North Market, an institution for local flavor, regional ingredients combine to create just the kind of melt-in-your-mouth dishes you seek. Let an Indian dish tickle your tongue, or get a plate or barbecue so smothered in special sauce that you’re lulled into an otherworldly satisfaction.

You seek a deeper understanding of what’s feeding Buckeyes, so your quest to taste the best dishes in Columbus continues. Try out the food trucks that dot the city’s streets like lily pads across Heron Pond. Next, you might just hear a rumor that Grandview Avenue and Easton Street are hotbeds of fine Italian food and fresh seafood cuisine. Like a caped foodie crusader, you’ll endeavor to track down these divine dishes—and you’re sure to succeed.

With a full belly, the city’s nightlife sends out a siren song. Many Columbus hotels put you within walking distance of the best bars and clubs. Spend your nights dancing with abandon in the Arena District, Short North, or Clintonville. Your free spirit will awaken and your worries will float away with the notes of the DJ’s latest spin.

Playing Outside

Some of the finest things to do in Columbus don’t take place within museum or theater walls. Yes, while you’re spellbound by the awe-inspiring masterpieces at the Columbus Museum of Art and Ohio Theatre, nature has its own creative displays to be enjoyed. In the summer, you’ll find yourself bewitched by emerald tree tops and crisp breezes that gently waft through your hair as if to say, “It’s OK, you’re finally in your happy place.” During the winter, ivory blankets of snow create a frozen patchwork. Before you know it, your inner child will tap you on the shoulder and beg to make a snow angel in the park, and you’ll be all too eager to oblige.

Spend a day at the Dawes Arboretum, where woodlands, wetlands, and Dawes Lake invite a sense of serenity. As you linger in the Japanese Garden, you’re reminded to pursue moments of solitude and pure relaxation. Meanwhile, once you return to urban Columbus, the Scioto Mile offers a unique oasis of its own. You’ll cherish your time in the acres of lush riverfront space, where the delights of downtown and luxurious five-star accommodation are never far from reach, but reminders of Mother Nature’s are also all around.

Shopping

You rejoiced when you realized hotel rooms in Columbus weren’t going to spoil your budget for adventure in the city. So you decide to become enmeshed in local fashion and entertainment, spending some of that well-earned savings at Easton Town Center. Ordered a non smoking room but the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke. Furniture was broken. Remote didn t work The motel lobby smelled like an old cigar.

Not glamorous, but the room was clean and spacious. Very lovely support from the staff, and the room was cooled before we arrived. Great service and very accessible. I was very pleased with my stay. Ok so people hating on this place, if you want a 5 star place then your going to pay for it and you will have new fixtures and fancy decor. If you want a clean bed to sleep in and a clean shower to. More Ok so people hating on this place, if you want a 5 star place then your going to pay for it and you will have new fixtures and fancy decor. If you want a clean bed to sleep in and a clean shower to bathe then you are set here. Yes it is an outdated property with the bare necessities, but the floors are clean, beds are clean and bathrooms are clean. Sure there are some cosmetic issues like paint could be touched up here or there and maybe a cracked tile here or there. Like I said if you need a clean cheap place to sleep for the night, shower and be on your way this will do the job.

This place is a dump. Upon entering, the room smelled like, I don t know what, but it stunk. Small trash on the carpet, white socks turned dark. Bathroom was in sorry shape. Toilet and tub shot. More This place is a dump. Upon entering, the room smelled like, I don t know what, but it stunk. Small trash on the carpet, white socks turned dark. Bathroom was in sorry shape. Toilet and tub shot. Looked like the place hadn t been cleaned in weeks. A/c could barely keep up and cooled the room to maybe 70 when we had it pegged. As a budget motel, I do not expect frills. But I expect a clean, comfortable room, as the ads state, and I did not get that at this location.

Hamilton Ohio one sucks. Staffing sucks and your loved one is often told a whole HALL must be done /trash ect from rooms too BEFORE your loved ones call light is answered. Nurses DENY coffee ect on 3rd shift to patients even if available wanting them to STAY ASLEEP ALL THE TIME so they can party and talk and sit at the desk doing zero. Nasty 3rd shift nurses tell you if you dont like their service and waiting an hour to be turned in bed or changed. you can find another hospice . That your loved one is NOT the only patient there. mind you there are ONLY 16 beds and usually like 5 or so patients there and its rarely full. They PUSH Medicaid papers down the families throat so they can recover the home when they pass. ITS A REAL ESTATE AGENCY. IF ypu say NO they are actually PISSED and begin charging you residential room rates you cannot afford to try and pressure you and I was EVEN told something would just have to be done with me because I sais NO. WTH. Oh and THAT was the chaplain and ONE of about 7 people in the room pressuring mom and family all at once. Lady yelling for help. noone came. I go over to room door and ask what is wrong and THEY HAD TAPED DOWN HER CALL LIGHT BUTTON SO SHE COULDNT PUSH IT. They came and told her she wasnt allowed to yell either. they asked her if she wanted sleep meds and she said NO. a bit later she was out till nearly mid day THE NEXT DAY. They tell patients YOU MUST BE DNR to be there. YOU DONT. they were recently BUSTED by a Medicare survey taker and they had told patients that FOR YEARS. A TOTAL LIE and forcing old folks to die sooner who MAY have WANTED TO LIVE. AND. this likely occurred in all 3 or 4 of their facilities. They tell patients Medicare also wont pay unless you are DNR. ANOTHER LIE. They ALSO ENCOURAGE your loved one TO DIE. NOT LIVE. family encourages to eat ect and hospice tells them. they dont have to and its okay . EVEN IF the family IS NOT force feeding. they dont even want you to encourage your loved one. They treat your loved one like THEY ARE ALREADY DEAD. some nurses ect are nice but the place is mis-managed and they are stupid as rocks. they also have no kitchen and getting food your loved one will eat is an issue. THIS IS A KEVORKIAN SENIOR CENTER. RUN. PS. they really. really. really. WANT YOUR HOUSE and to be reimbursed by Medicaid. and for your loved one to die ASAP to get it apparently.

There wasn t a person who came into our house that I didn t love. They were all so kind and understanding. They offered tremendous support to my dad and me. I hope no one has to go through the painful process of terminal illness without them.
