How Much Does Ultrasound Technician Training School Cost?

Ultrasound Technician Training School Prices

Ultrasound technicians use special equipment to send high-frequency sound waves through a patient’s body. The sound waves are then turned into images that doctors use to assess and diagnose medical conditions.

When you think of an ultrasound technician, you probably associate the job with obstetrics. But, ultrasound technology has a variety of applications and is used to capture images throughout the body.

Ultrasound techs, also called diagnostic medical sonographers, command a good salary. According to a U.S. Department of Labor report, ultrasound takes often make approximately $50,000 to $75,000 per year.

About Ultrasound Technician Training

There are three basic types of certifications/degrees for ultrasound technicians:

  • A certificate in sonography/ultrasound prepares students to sit for one of the national exams, which are required to find a job or apply for associate’s or bachelor’s programs.
  • An associate’s degree of applied science in diagnostic sonography is required for most entry-level jobs. The program combines classroom instruction, lab work, and clinical externships. An associate’s degree is also a prerequisite to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography exam.
  • A bachelor’s degree of applied science in diagnostic sonography is usually not required for entry-level jobs. However, it is ideal for anyone who wants to pursue a management career. At this level of schooling, you can usually choose a specialty such as obstetrics or vascular sonography.

Make sure the school you choose is one of the nearly 200 accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. A full list of accredited schools is available here. You must have graduated from an accredited program to sit for the national exams.

Ultrasound Technician Training Average Costs

Sonography certificate and associate’s degree begin at several thousand dollars and range all the way up to $20,000 or more.

  • Cypress College in California charges about $4,000 for its two-year program.
  • The University of Maryland – Baltimore County charges nearly $18,000 for a one-year program.

A bachelor’s degree might cost $25,000 to $30,000 or more. Looked at another way, you can expect to pay anywhere from $75 to $500 per credit hour at most schools. In-state students will pay on the lower end of that price range while out-of-state and international students will pay on the higher end.

  • Broward College in Florida charge $75.40 per credit hour for in-state students and $226.40 per credit hour for out-of-state students.
  • Harper College in Illinois charges $465 per credit hour.
  • George Washington University Center in D.C. – a highly regarded bachelor’s program – charges $1,227 per credit hour.

I ve been with Alpha Alarm sense May of 2011. Before them I had another, more big box type of security provider. I switched and have never looked back. Its also nice to call a local number when I need to speak with a security consultant! Keep it up Alpha!

    A Satisfied Customer

Alpha offered to upgrade my alarm system free if I switched to Monitronics for monitoring. The monthly cost was less than I was paying, and the equipment they were offering was superior, so I agreed to switch. They arrived promptly and performed the service. I have had no problems in the time I have been using Monitronics. The equipment is more reliable than the previous system, and I have had no false alarms as I did with the old equipment.

Have been 100% satisfied with every aspect of this monitored service since installation a year ago! This is the company to go with for home security!!

The system purchased was a wireless alarm system with 10 window/door opening alarms, two motion sensors, a touchscreen pad and an outdoor siren. The cost was $69 installation fee and $45/mo on a 3 year contract for the system and a monitoring service. Since the lowest monitoring system we found was $30mo, the difference was for the equipment which will be owned at end of contract period, about $540. We paid 10% less than the above amounts as a senior discount. This was new equipment, not refurbished equipment. The three year contract plus installation fee comes to the price of $1500 listed below.

The price was competitive. The installation was done the day after we agreed to obtain the system. The installer came to our residence twice. The first time he was delayed, but called to let us know. He came back a second time because the outside siren was not in his stock and he did not have the yard signs. The second time he was a bit early. Ray, the installer, answered all our questions. He had good suggestions. He was fast and cleaned up installation packaging. He was really nice. I wish all service people were as nice as Ray.

Installed alarm system, home was already pre-wired. We have never had an alarm system before, they came back to check system as we learned. We had problems a little later as we learned to work the system to find they had to add a sensor to an upstairs window. They provided additional training and installed the sensor, no charge. Since then we have had no other problem.

The technician that installed my system was very professional and informed me of the complete system and how it works. The only MINOR negative I had during the whole installation was on the coupon it says $29.99 to $49.99 and this was never explained or the one time installation fee. The different systems were explained but not price, when I saw the charge on my bank statement I called the company and they explained it all to me. Overall, the service was great.

Alpha Alarm rep Mona was very understanding and very helpful. She responded to my problem quickly and efficiently. She sent a tech to my home the same day I called about a problem he (Lyndon) was very efficient and courteous. Great alarm company they care about their customers.

They did everything they were supposed to do as advertised and everything was installed and working. I give them all A s and will use them again in the future.

Quick installation, friendly. We did not get exactly what we thought was advertised, overall good experience.

They designed the plan upfront so that I knew exactly how much it would cost. They came out thrice to teach me how the whole system worked. I can reach them anytime and they come within the same day if I need anything. They are very professional and I feel safe around their workers. They pay great attention to detail and their service is outstanding.

We love our security system. My husband works late sometimes, and I am able to sleep so much better knowing the alarm is set. We have 4 active boys, so my favorite feature is the chime that lets me know when and where a door has been opened. Honestly, I will never be able to live in a house without an alarm system again.

Some glitches with appointments, the equipment is OK but could be better, probably for the money as good as it gets. All personnel was friendly and professional, except for missed appointments and some rather late arrivals. All in all was good experience and would use them again. I have had other companies and they are no better if not a lot worse.

Alpha installed a touchscreen system in my business. I had Security amp; Access Controls for my alarm company previously. They had become unresponsive. I was referred by a friend to Alpha Alarms. Had a good experience, they installed everything, and the technician ray was very respectful.

    Online Ultrasound Technician Degree Programs

    Essential Information

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), diagnostic medical sonographers typically hold at least an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree. Some of these degrees include an Associate’s of Applied Science, Associate’s of Science, Bachelor’s of Science and Bachelor’s of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Entirely online degree programs in medical sonography are available, but relatively rare, because this field requires clinical work experience. Some states require sonographers to be professionally licensed, so when choosing a program, check the licensing requirements in your state and look for programs that count toward licensure.

    Associate’s Degree for Ultrasound Technicians

Most online associate’s degree programs for ultrasound technicians emphasize ultrasound procedures, sonographic instrumentation and medical terminology. A 2-year online program in diagnostic medical sonography can result in an Associate of Applied Science or an Associate of Science degree. Some online programs also offer certificates in diagnostic medical sonography.

    Patient Care Technician Jobs

    Patient Technician Job Overview

Patient technicians work closely in the care and treatment of patients in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers and other healthcare facilities. In this role, patient technicians work alongside other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, physicians, and X-Ray Technologists when providing care. The main job duties might include taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic functions such as eating, bathing and grooming. Another important role of the patient technician is keeping careful and complete records of the patient’s treatment and progress. Since healthcare jobs are in such a stable career field, it is a great option for those who enjoy working with all types of patients.

    Patient Technician Job Education Requirements

Most general patient technician positions require education through a community or technical college. After completing the courses in biology, nursing, human resuscitation, human anatomy, pharmacology and other related subjects, the program also includes hands-on training hours in a medical facility. Some patient technicians take courses to learn how to provide more specialized care, such as an education in radiology to work as an MRI technician. There is an option to take a National Certified Patient Care Technician exam, which opens doors for higher paying positions. In order to maintain the license, technicians must complete 14 hours of continuing education per year.

    Patient Technician Job Market

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 21 percent growth of patient technician jobs in the United States in the next decade. This number is higher than the national average for job growth. The increased demand for healthcare services is partly due to new federal regulations, which have given more people health insurance benefits, as well as the aging population that is living longer and requiring medical care. Those who choose to take the national certification exam might be able to find jobs more easily, since more clinics and healthcare facilities are requiring this certification to qualify for jobs.

    Patient Technician Job Salary Information

The median hourly wage for patient technician is $11.97, according to the BLS. There are opportunities for growth and advancement in the healthcare field for those who are willing and eager to learn more and earn more education. Those who want to go into the patient technician field should have strong organizational skills, be attentive and sympathetic to problems that patients will have, and pay close attention to detail, since they will work with medical records and documentation.

    Radiology Schools #radiology #schools,radiology #technician #schools

Everything you wanted to know about Radiology Technician Careers. Find schools and get information on the program that is right for you.

Finding a radiology school that fits your needs can be challenging. You can begin the process by searching for radiology programs near you or online and requesting information. Requesting information will allow you to receive details on the specific radiology programs offered and the financial aid available for radiology programs.

    What is a radiology school?

While they may be commonly called radiology schools, the truth is that many medical schools offer radiology programs. From traditional medical institutions, such as Harvard Medical School, to a rural veterinarian school, radiology programs in sonography, X-ray, magnetic imaging and radiation therapy are available to both new and returning medical students. For some students with prior experience in radiology, programs may even be available online.

Classes in radiology can cover how to handle radioactive drugs (used both in imaging machines and for combating cancer through radiation therapy), how to understand images from X-ray and sonographic machines, and how to safely operate MRI machines to avoid injury caused by the machine’s extreme magnetic field. Typical degree programs are generally available as 2- and 4-year associate or bachelor’s degree programs.

In some cases, such as with veterinary technicians and dental assistants who don’t typically work with radioactive machines, the full radiology school experience is not necessary. For these students, certifications in radiology are available and can typically be completed in less time than other programs.

    What are the radiology careers?

Anyone who operates an X-ray machine, ultrasound or MRI machine, or who administers radioactive drugs is a type of radiologist. They can be employed in physicians’ private practices, major hospitals, dentist offices, urgent care facilities and veterinary clinics.

For radiologists practicing as sonographers or MRI, X-ray and ultrasound technicians, state licensure may be required. While requirements for licensure can vary by state, generally, certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is a required step. It should be noted that beginning in 2015, radiologists will be required to have earned an associate degree in radiology in order to be eligible for certification.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS.gov/oes, 2011) reports that radiologists employed as radiologic technicians, radiation therapists and as diagnostic medical sonographers earned, respectively, a nationwide median annual wage of $55,120, $76,630, and $65,210, as of May 2011. The BLS (BLS.gov/ooh, 2012) also reports that employment opportunities for radiological technicians and technologists is expected to grow by up to 28 percent from 2010 to 2020.

    Airframe and Powerplant

Your first step toward a career in Aviation Maintenance Science is obtaining your FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A P) Certification.
Global’s hands-on approach trains students in the specific skills employers seek in the airframe powerplant mechanics and aircraft inspection fields. Students take courses in simulated work environments from instructors with real-world experience.
Our curriculum was developed by educators and industry representatives to ensure that course offerings accurately reflect current industry standards. Students must complete the required course to qualify for the program’s Certificate of Achievement. Once trained, technicians will also be successful in related fields of aircraft manufacturing, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, sheet metal, quality control, civil and military defense.
    F.A.A. Eligibility Requirements
The A P mechanics course is for applicants who meet FAR 65.71-65.77 only. Under these regulations, you must have a certain type of mechanical experience before the F.A.A. will allow you to take the F.A.A. written exams. The required experience for the powerplant mechanic rating is a minimum of 18 months working with tools on any type of aircraft engine. The required experience for the airframe mechanic rating is a minimum of 18 months working with tools on any type of airframe. If you want both ratings, and your experience was a combination of airframe and powerplant, then you need a total of 30 months experience (not 36).
    Obtaining Your Authorization Slips
To be enrolled in GLOBAL SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS as a mechanic student, you must first meet the F.A.A. experience requirements. The purpose of this is to be sure the F.A.A. will permit you to take the written exam after you finish the course.
    Oral and Practical Examinations
The F.A.A. requires the written results to be in the student’s hands before an Oral and Practical examination may be given. Therefore, in order to take an oral and practical examination with one of our examiners, you must bring your written score slips and your airmen certificate and/or rating application 8610-2. Your F.A.A. inspector should give you two copies of the 8610-2 form, both bearing original signatures. Photo copied signatures are not accepted.
    Classroom Time
The average time to obtain the A P rating is from 11 – 13 days. Our instructors work closely with each student, progressing him/her based on their own capabilities. Our course is guaranteed 100% – we keep working with you until you pass – good for 36 months.
