Stayed at the Algonquin, booked through Expedia. My choice was based on location, ambiance and price. This hotel met all three requirements. The hotel was absolutely spotless. The rooms are small but comfortable. We had an inside room which meant no traffic noice. Just a constant hum of some mechanical equipment.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Complimentary New Yorker magazine. This hotel was the birthplace of the magazine. Only regret was that Matilda could not be visited.

I stayed here to give my sister the ultimate New York experience. I wanted to be close to everything, but still stay in a place I would enjoy.

It is a quiet hotel. Nestled between 5th and 6th, it is a very quiet portion of 44th. Close to shopping, Empire State’s Building, Rockefeller Plaza. You are just close enough to Time’s Square. You can escape the madness easily.

Roughly $50.00 cab ride from LGA.

The rooms are really small. I had requested a suite, but it was not the typical suite size. We barely had room to move around. Thankfully, it had great AC and a nice shower.

Gym is OK. A lot of the equipment was not working well (the ellipticals need repair). I also thought this hotel had a concierge lounge. It does not. There is breakfast Monday through Friday for Marriott members, but I found the Red Engine next door offered a better breakfast option.

I found the hotel staff to be OK. Some days, they were really friendly; other days, they were not. Waitstaff in the Blue Bar was very friendly.
