Adolescent Teen Drug Rehabs

In the mind of a young person, the risk of using drugs has many dimensions. Not only do teens consider physical risk, but also emotional (acting inappropriately, or getting depressed), social/relational, and aspirational. Physical risks include addiction, while social risks include disappointing friends or family, and loosing friends. Aspirational risks include loosing a job, or getting in trouble with the law.
All of these perceived risks -physical, emotional, social, and aspirational – are different with each drug, and contributing factors include things like anti-drug campaigns and parental involvement, including discussions about the risks of drug use.

Click a State Find Adolescent Teen Drug Rehabs:

Teens show remarkable resilience to the troubles of addiction, and when given professional and appropriate assistance, respond with great changes in behaviors and attitudes. Growing up is hard, teens are vulnerable, and sometimes they need a little help. Once an addiction presents there is little point in willing it away, and substance abuse problems very rarely get better on their own. Teens respond far better to treatment when they get it early, and waiting for too long before taking action only entrenches addiction, and increases the difficulties of treatment. Teen substance abusers can get better; they want to lead a great life and hunger to fill all the promise of their potential. Don’t let an early addiction derail their lives, get them help, and get them better. they’ll thank you for it.

Bikini Laser Hair Removal Costs

For many individuals, the idea of permanently removing unwanted hair from their bodies is an extremely attractive option. The idea of never shaving, or plucking, or waxing certainly sounds ideal, particularly in sensitive areas like the bikini line. But some shy away from bikini line laser hair removal because they view it as too expensive, and they don’t really take the time to take a good look at the numbers. So, how much does bikini laser hair removal cost really?

There are many factors that influence the price of bikini hair removal. The average cost varies drastically across the country, with the average price for a single treatment in the Midwest ranging from $200-300, while, unsurprisingly, Southern states with year-round warm temperatures, will cost you more—about $500 per session. The average cost of a single bikini hair removal laser treatment in the U.S. is around $400. Laser bikini hair removal typically requires only three to six treatments.

Of course, region isn’t the only factor impacting the varied pricing of bikini hair removal. Fees among medical professionals vary, even within regions. Those with more years of experience will naturally charge more than those with fewer. The number of treatments included in a package will affect the per-session cost, and there are different types of laser treatment that can be performed, each varying in price.

Let’s take the average cost of a single treatment and do a little number crunching. Most people need three to six treatments for the best results. Let’s say you need six, so this would run, on average, about $2400 total. Now, if you’re a waxer, you know that if you want a Brazilian, it will run you about $100 a wax, and if you strictly want the bikini line, it will cost around $40. Typically, you’ll need to wax every three weeks, which will cost $680/year for the simplest bikini wax. So, three and a half years of waxing is equivalent to the price of permanent hair removal.

If you shave, you spend about $70-100 per year on razors and shaving creams. On the conservative side, 34 years of shaving costs the same as six treatments to permanently remove your hair with laser treatments, on average. Even more importantly, that’s 34 years of cuts, razor burn discomfort, redness and bumps, for a total of about 3 hours in the doctor’s office.

For a perfectly smooth bikini line, with no irritation between shavings or waxings, laser hair removal is really an excellent option. Ultimately, it is both more affordable and more convenient than other available options. If you’re interested in bikini hair removal, schedule a consultation with a licensed laser treatment provider today. It is extremely important to find a professional with experience and skill, so always be sure that you’re not sacrificing quality to save a little extra cash. For a list of trusted providers in your area, visit our hair removal clinic directory. Your medical professional will be able to help you decide whether bikini laser hair removal is the best option for you, and can discuss payment plan options if available.

Water Sampling, Water Testing and Analysis – Aqua Legion UK Ltd #water #treatment #analysis

Water Sampling Services

Do you need water sampling, water testing or water analysis?

We provide water sampling services for a wide variety of water systems including domestic, commercial and industrial systems.

From straight forward drinking water sampling and inspection, to detailed chemical analysis of process water systems, Aqua Legion are ready to deliver a supportive service that will allow you to make informed decisions about your water supply or water system.

As explained on our Legionella testing page, there is a difference between Water Testing and Water Sampling . While we won’t go into too much detail again here, we do confirm that Water Testing is the process used for analysing the constituents or microbial content of the water. Water Sampling is the action of sample collection and transportation. It should be highlighted that they are not the same and there are clear and seperate British Standards for both.

Water Sampling can be a tricky process and your strategy needs to be clear

What seems to be a simple process of filling a sample bottle can turn into a major issue as the method and process of sampling can have a substantial effect on the final result obtained.

For example, it is a well known fact that simply adjusting the length of time the outlet is flushed prior to water sampling can have a substantial effect on the result obtained. All sampling should be conducted in accordance with British Standard BS 7592 when sampling is undertaken for Legionella. BS7592 explains the importance of flushing times as a simple example of an element of the sampling procedure that can significantly change a result.

It is also vital to ensure that aseptic techniques are used. This is to limit the risk of interference with the general microbial quality of the sample as such interference can cause cross contamination due to poor sampling technique and subsequently lead to overgrown plates and false positives for example.

Aqua legion specialise in drinking water sampling and legionella sampling

Why Water sampling – Routine Water sampling is the single most cost effective tool in determining the actual quality of the water at any location. Independent water testing in commercial premises will ensure you are able to clearly demonstrate that the water in your building is fit for purpose. Furthermore, implementing an independent sampling programme will resolve to ensure you get the best from all contractors and service providers involved with the water services in your building.

All our water samples are tested via UKAS accredited laboratories as standard. We are able to offer a range of microbiological analysis and chemical testing services to cover a variety of requirements.

A flexible water sampling service

If you require a one off sampling service, or routine water sampling programme for a cooling tower for example you have come the right place. Aqua Legion provides sampling and inspections services to cover any water system in the workplace, domestic or natural environment. Our sampling visits are backed up with a full water system inspections, results interpretation, recommendations and certification.

We conduct sampling for legislative, verification, reassurance or operational purposes using the most up to date scientific aseptic techniques.

Typical Water Systems That We Sample daily:

Drinking water services, Spa baths (Jacuzzis), Car washes, Swimming pools, Vending machines, Cooling Towers, Cold water storage tanks, Humidifiers, Process Waters, Showers, Calorifiers, Dental equipment, Emergency showers, Eye wash units, Hot Cold Systems, Fountains water features, Bottled or POU dispensers, Closed systems, Water heaters.

Water Sampling Bottles

Water samples collected in line with UKAS and British standards need to be collected in appropriate containers. This doesn t mean any plastic bottle!

Samples which are tested for Legionella or microbial quality should be taken in a sterile bottle container which is treated with Sodium thiosulphate. The thiosulphate is used to neutralise the effect of any residual chlorine in the sample taken, this is needed to fix the state of the sample between the time the sample is collected, transported and then analysed in the laboratory.

Samples should be labelled with a sample number and details of the sample location should be agreed and recorded for reference purposes and to aid the reporting of sampling test results.

Chemical samples will also need to be taken using appropriate bottles and indeed there will be many forms of sampling that will require bottles to be laced with fixing agents.

Water Sampling Competence

Each Water Hygiene Technician is trained to take samples using aseptic techniques. This means taking the water samples in a way that is least likely to contaminate the sample. Whilst this may seem simple, there are many procedures to be followed during the sampling process that ensure a dependable result. For example simply resting a bottle cap upwards as opposed to facing down can alter the sample result. Yes it’s that easy to get a misrepresentation of the system from such a simple action!

A range of British Standards are used when undertaking a sampling programme

The standard used will be appropriate to the situation of your sampling requirements. Listed below is an example of the British standards that can be used when testing different drinking water systems of which there is a wide variety.

BS ISO 5667-21:2010. Water quality. Sampling. Guidance on sampling of drinking water distributed by tankers or means other than distribution pipes

BS ISO 5667-21:2010. Water quality. Sampling. Guidance on sampling of drinking water distributed by tankers or means other than distribution pipes

BS ISO 5667-5:2006. Water quality. Sampling. Guidance on sampling of drinking water from treatment works and piped distribution systems

Where is the evidence that animal research benefits humans?

Much animal research into potential treatments for humans is wasted because it is poorly conducted and not evaluated through systematic reviews

Clinicians and the public often consider it axiomatic that animal research has contributed to the treatment of human disease, yet little evidence is available to support this view. Few methods exist for evaluating the clinical relevance or importance of basic animal research, and so its clinical (as distinct from scientific) contribution remains uncertain. 1 Anecdotal evidence or unsupported claims are often used as justification—for example, statements that the need for animal research is “self evident” 2 or that “Animal experimentation is a valuable research method which has proved itself over time.” 3 Such statements are an inadequate form of evidence for such a controversial area of research. We argue that systematic reviews of existing and future research are needed.

Assessing animal research

Despite the lack of systematic evidence for its effectiveness, basic animal research in the United Kingdom receives much more funding than clinical research. 1 4 5 Given this, and because the public accepts animal research only on the assumption that it benefits humans, 6 the clinical relevance of animal experiments needs urgent clarification.

Several methods are available to evaluate animal research. These include historical analysis, 7 critiques of animal models, 8 investigations into the development of treatments, 5 surveys of clinicians’ views, 9 and citation analyses. 10 However, perhaps the best way of producing evidence about the value of animal research is to conduct systematic reviews of animal studies and, where possible, compare the results of these with the results of the corresponding clinical trials. So what do studies that have done this show?

Systematic reviews of animal research

We searched Medline to identify published systematic reviews of animal experiments (see bmj.com for the search strategy). The search identified 277 possible papers, of which 22 …

New Alcoholism Treatment

Uncovering Baclofen Alcohol Treatment

New Alcoholism Treatment Is baclofen alcohol treatment a hoax, or can a muscle relaxant really cure alcoholism?

Baclofen is a drug that has been on the market for many years.

It is prescribed and licensed for the treatment of various neurological disorders and as a muscle relaxant.

However, over the past ten years or so it has come to light that this rather unassuming little pill has another side; it seems to be effective at treating alcoholism.

Baclofen is now touted by a vocal minority as a new alcoholism treatment, and not only this but that the search for an alcoholism cure is at an end.

One Man’s Discovery

Baclofen and its potential as a new treatment for alcoholism first came to light with the publication of a book by a French cardiologist, Dr. Olivier Ameisen.

In his book, “La Dernier Verre”, he writes of his lifelong battle with alcohol addiction. an addiction he developed as a result of the intense anxiety he constantly experienced.

Alcohol became the only way he could cope with it and so began his alcoholism. An addiction that would push him to the very limits.

Then he heard about how baclofen had been shown to reduce the cravings for cocaine in rats. Thinking that it might also work for alcoholism cravings, he began to self-medicate with the drug. Almost overnight he felt much more at ease with himself and the world; at the same time he also felt less of a compulsion to drink.

After further experimenting with the drug, he no longer needed to drink.

His experiences led him to the conclusion that it was his anxiety that led him to drink and this in turn resulted in alcohol dependency developing. His resulting book chronicles his years of alcohol abuse and demonstrates to others how to quit drinking by using Baclofen

How You Can Use Baclofen to Treat Your Alcoholism

Baclofen is not licensed for the treatment of alcoholism. You use it at your own risk, all the information you find on this page is just that, information. Anybody who believes they have a problem with alcohol should visit their health care provider for advice.

Baclofen is not approved for the treatment of alcoholism, why this is so is open to debate. However all drugs need to go through a period of testing before they can be licensed to ensure their safety. Others might say it is due to vested interests in the alcoholism treatment industry. There is no money to be made from baclofen; the same cannot be said of 12 step programs and other newer (and thus more expensive) alcoholism medications.

Currently Baclofen is licensed for the treatment of.

  • injuries to the spinal cord,
  • multiple sclerosis,
  • cerebral palsy,
  • and other conditions of the neurological system that cause patients to experience painful muscle spasms

The only way to obtain baclofen for non-licensed use is to either:

  • buy it from the web ; this is not advised as many online medications are counterfeit and contain very little, or none, of the active ingredient they purport to.
  • Another, and safer option, is to find a sympathetic doctor/physician who will prescribe it to you, and give you advice on how to take it etc.

Many who have tried Baclofen alcohol treatment and found it to be effective state that the dosage is individual dependent. Dr. Ameisen started with 5 mg and found it most effective (that is stopping the cravings for alcohol) at doses of 270mg. He still takes a daily dose of 50mg and is good as cured. Some have to take more to get rid of the urge to drink, others less. You should speak to a qualified doctor for dosage guidelines.

Why You Might Want To Look For Another Way”

Download our FREE E-report :

Baclofen Alcohol Treatment – A Non-Abstinent Method

One of the great attractions of this new alcoholism treatment is that it doesn’t require abstinence. Much like the Sinclair Method you actually have to continue drinking in order for it to work. As time goes by and you work out the optimum dose for you, your cravings for alcohol decrease and that old bugbear of alcoholics everywhere, loss of control, fails to be an issue.

Imagine, you can have one beer and just stop!

Don’t get your hopes up too high though, Baclofen alcohol treatment doesn’t work for everybody, so when starting this new alcoholism treatment be realistic.

The ‘There is no Cure for Alcoholism!’ Party Poopers

Many in the addiction field deride the idea of an alcoholism cure or ‘magic pill’. They believe that alcohol dependency is more than just a physical ailment that can be righted with medication. It is a complex disease with psychological. environmental and genetic factors. There are far too many variables involved for it to be sorted out by baclofen alcohol treatment.

They may well be right, but you can’t argue with the miraculous results some seem to be getting from this new alcoholism treatment. It may well not be a universal cure, however, it does seem to be helping many alcohol dependents, who have tried other treatments, beat their addiction; for that we should be grateful.

What is Detoxification?

Detoxification is a process that allows the body to get rid the drug that’s been abused while managing the symptoms of withdrawal that’s associated with the substance that’s been used. Detox is always the first step taken before addressing the user’s heroin addiction and working on their recovery.

Why Should a Heroin User Detox?

When heroin is abused it enters the brain and turns into morphine which then attach to opioid receptors in the brain and throughout the body. When a person is seeking treatment to overcome their addiction to heroin if they haven’t gotten rid of the chemicals that are still in their body they will continue to crave the drug and experience withdrawal. Until the chemicals are out of the body and withdrawal symptoms are managed it’s hard to focus on recovery. Detoxification can be very uncomfortable for anyone that’s abused heroin for any length of time. Due to the intense cravings and uncomfortable symptoms a person experiences during heroin detox, most people relapse before they’re able to complete this process if they attempt to detox on their own.

Because repeated heroin use also causes serious health conditions, it’s important to seek professional help from a qualified detox center or substance abuse treatment center instead of attempting detox on your own. The longer a person has abused heroin the more intense their cravings and withdrawal symptoms will also be.

Do I still Need Rehab Even Though I’m Going to Detox?

Detoxification is just the first step toward recovery from heroin abuse and addiction. The abuse of heroin doesn’t just cause physical dependence it affects a person mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. Physical complications that heroin use has caused besides cravings and withdrawal have to be addressed if present, especially with long term use.

Many changes have to take place in a person’s life in order to maintain their abstinence and work toward recovery.

There is much more to recovering from heroin addiction than detoxification and without effective treatment after completing detox, most people go right back to using again in a short period of time.

What is Rapid Detox?

Rapid detoxification takes place under anesthesia and is performed by expert medical professionals and certified anesthesiologists. Rapid detox is a quick method of ridding the body of the drug that’s been abused eliminating cravings and withdrawal symptoms. This method of detox is not for everyone and extensive tests are done beforehand to make sure the patient is a good candidate for this form of detoxification.

What is Spartgen XT?

Spartagen XT is a safe and effective testosterone booster that will give you the get up and go that you need to obtain peak physical and sexual performance. RedMagic, the patented natural ingredient in this miracle pill, has been clinically tested and proven to maximize your body s testosterone production. In just a few short weeks, you ll see notable increases in your stamina, libido and overall strength as more testosterone enters your blood stream.

Spartagen XT is one of the best testosterone boosters on the market. When you pair Spartagen XT with exercise. you ll build larger muscles and more effectively increase the free testosterone levels in your body. This is largely due to RedMagic, but also as a result of another ingredient: L-citrulline, a crucial amino acid. L-citrulline boosts your body s nitric oxide production, which amps up your body s blood flow. This allows your body to better oxygenate and nourish your muscles. especially during intense physical exertion, and can even result in longer, stronger orgasms. If you haven t experienced your maximum strength and muscular potential, the results from natural testosterone booster Spartagen XT will blow you away.

Spartagen XT Reviews and Benefits

*Results vary from person to person

Spartagen XT will kick your testosterone and strength into high gear so effectively that you ll be top dog wherever you go. As a top dog, you should never settle for a sub-par product, and Spartagen XT testosterone booster has you covered. The two main ingredients in Spartagen XT – RedMagic and L-citrulline – are some of the highest-quality, all-natural ingredients you can get your hands on.

There s no need to settle for a sub-par life, either. The men who have provided us with the numerous Spartagen XT reviews report that they re finally able to reach their fullest potential in the bedroom, in the gym and during daily life. They report mind-blowing libido, jaw-dropping strength and total domination in every aspect of their lives. Other testosterone boosters often claim to give you the stamina, power and energy that an alpha male needs, but most don t stack up against Spartagen XT testosterone booster.

Spartagen XT Ingredients

The difference between Spartagen XT and other testosterone boosters comes right back to the ingredients. Instead of using banned substances or loads of unnatural ingredients, Spartagen XT focuses on its prized natural ingredients RedMagic and L-citrulline. RedMagic is an all-natural ingredient that ramps up your sex drive and boosts your power like nothing else. The L-citrulline makes sure your muscles get what they need while you re dominating. It also keeps your fire burning by giving you extra strength and stamina.

Tribulus is another key ingredient used in Spartagen XT to deliver the best quality testosterone-boosting effects. Tribulus is a natural, plant-derived ingredient that has long been known to enhance testosterone production, especially when taken for extended periods of time.

Testosterone production reaches its peak when men are between 15 and 25. Every year past age 25, men see a natural and rapid decrease in testosterone levels. Some men notice the results of low testosterone faster than others. The most obvious symptoms include decreased in sex drive, decreased sexual function, lower muscle mass, less energy, weaker muscles and increased weight gain. Boosting your testosterone levels back to where they should be with Spartagen XT combats all of these symptoms and more. Why turn down a safe, effective way to naturally fix your body s testosterone levels ?

Spartagen XT Side Effects

Testosterone boosters rarely have adverse side effects when used correctly. Even when men do experience negative side effects, they re usually minor and cause problems like oily skin, slight fluid retention or decreased frequency of urination. However, always check with your doctor first a let him / her know that you ve started taking Spartagen XT testosterone booster. so you can work together to make sure it s safe for your body.

How to Convince your Loved One to Seek Treatment for Depression

Watching someone you love suffer with depression can be very upsetting. You want to help them feel better, but are unsure of how to approach the situation. Make sure that before you engage your loved one in a conversation about their depression you take the time to learn as much as you can about the disorder. When you do speak to your loved one, be sure that you really listen to what they are saying and make it clear that their feelings are valid. Suggest that a psychiatric treatment center may be beneficial to help them to work through their emotional pain and tell them that there are trained professionals dedicated to helping them create a brighter future.

It is also important to make sure that you are taking care of your needs as well. Locate community groups in conjunction with a psychiatric hospital or elsewhere that you can go to for support or reach out to a therapist yourself. If you aren’t taking care of yourself, you won’t be any help to your loved one. The best thing you can do is be there for your family member throughout the entire process.

Why Should You Consider Treatment at North Tampa Behavioral Health Hospital

Depression is a serious illness that can cause significant distress and disruption in your life. People with depression find it very difficult to function on a daily basis; you may have lost interest in activities that you once enjoyed, have problems at work or school due to lack of concentration, or find that your personal relationships are suffering. You may also feel fatigued, irritable, and that nothing will ever get better. Some people have described depression as “living in a black hole.” In severe cases of depression, this disorder can become so debilitating that you are unable to even get out of bed. If these problems are not addressed, depression symptoms can become worse and potentially end in suicide and seeking treatment a depression treatment center or hospital becomes imperative.

Inpatient treatment for depression has been shown to be one of the most effective forms of intervention available. Psychiatric treatment centers are designed to make you feel comfortable and supported as you work through your depression.

Treatment Philosophy and Benefits

As the leading psychiatric treatment center hospital in Tampa, we believe a supportive and caring environment is the best setting to begin healing from depression. During your stay, you will connect with and gain understanding from others struggling with similar issues. We want you to be able to recognize your positive qualities and manage your depression so that you can live a happy, productive, and fulfilled life. Our eclectic treatment approach stems from our belief that successful recovery starts by providing effective case management and stabilization. This approach will enable you to discover positive qualities you possess and restore a sense of hope about your recovery. Additional experiential methods help to address your problems from a variety of perspectives.

Types of Therapy We Use to Treat Depression

There are a number of different treatment options available at inpatient treatment centers to help people suffering with depression. However, the most common form of treatment includes a combination of medication and therapeutic modalities. At our psychiatric hospital, we look at the whole person and make treatment plans based on your individual needs.

If you feel that you are in crisis, or are having thoughts about hurting yourself or others, please call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Depending upon what you and your treatment team decide, medication may be a part of a short or long-term plan to help manage your depression. Common types of medications used to treat depression include antidepressants and anti-anxiety agents, as well as medications to treat co-occurring disorders. As you progress through your recovery journey, you may be able to be weaned off your medication as you learn different coping strategies for your problems. Some of the therapies we offer include:

Group Therapy is a major component of therapy we use at our treatment center. These sessions may include process groups, psycho-educational groups, and skill-based groups. Process groups allow you to work through your struggles and concerns about your depression in a supportive environment. Psycho-educational groups will educate you about your depression, any medications you may have been prescribed, and other topics related to your depression. Additional groups could include stress management, assertiveness training, social skills training, and effective coping techniques.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be the most effective type of therapy when it comes to treating depression. During CBT, you will explore the negative ways you think and learn how to challenge and replace those thoughts with more positive ways of looking at the world.

Family consultation is used to determine any family dynamics that may contribute to your depression. Family involvement is an important part of the recovery process. Additionally, your family will be connected with appropriate outside resources in Tampa or elsewhere where they can learn about depression, treatments that are used to treat depression, and how to cope with their own feelings.

Continuing Care and Levels of Care

Once you and your treatment team have decided that you no longer require inpatient treatment, a discharge plan will be put in place to ensure you are able to continue your recovery after you have walked out of our doors. In the event that you do not feel ready to leave the inpatient setting, a residential treatment center may be the appropriate next step. For many people, aftercare treatment programs may include a step down to our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). These programs are structured much like inpatient programs, but vary in the hours and days of the week that treatment is provided

In the event that you are being discharged home, we will collaborate with local providers to help you set up an appropriate outpatient treatment plan. We will also connect you with community support in your area so that you can continue your treatment and recovery on an outpatient basis.

ALCOHOL ADDICTION and How it Works #alcohol #addiction, #alcoholism #signs, #treatment #center

Alcohol Addiction

It is often difficult to determine the difference between “Social Drinking” and “Alcohol Addiction .” Some indications that you might need alcohol abuse rehab include the time of day that drinking begins, the frequency of drinks and the amount consumed. These and other factors about the way you use alcohol can all be warning signs. When you start looking for alcoholism signs in others or even yourself, it is important to be brutally honest about the behaviors. At Valiant Recovery, we offer assistance with a number of substance abuse issues, including drug and alcohol help. Our individualized care plans mean that we personalize our alcohol rehab program for each of our clients, making sure to keep it balanced with experiential therapies. We are not your typical alcohol abuse treatment center as we strive for more than just the elimination of alcohol but rather balancing the outside life so the addiction can be corrected, not just the symptom which results in alcoholism signs .

If you need help, please call us 1.877.618.6464

How Alcohol Addiction Works

Alcohol Addiction does not happen overnight, for most people it happens over years of subtly increasing use of alcohol. Often, it happens so slowly that you have no idea you are becoming addicted. It is important to watch for the alcoholism signs early on in your own life and in the lives of those you care about. Alcohol is absorbed by the blood and enters the brain, attaching itself to the receptors in the brain and slowing down the central nervous system. Extended alcohol abuse damages these receptors, making it difficult for the mind and body to function normally and properly. Greater receptor damage leads to a greater dependency on alcohol. Unfortunately, the body is meanwhile developing a tolerance to drinking. Now, the person has to consume more to obtain the same effect. This leads to stronger drinks or combining drugs with alcohol. The practice of combining drugs (prescription or recreational) with alcohol is very dangerous. It can result in overdosing or death.

The most destructive and devastating part of Alcohol Addiction is the physical dependency on alcohol. The process of withdrawal is of primary concern in alcohol treatment programs. Withdrawal for someone who is alcohol dependent can be accompanied by seizures and even death. Medically supervised detoxification is the recommended approach to dependency and withdrawing. This can only be done at a qualified alcohol abuse treatment center. There are medications that can be used to help reduce the effects and symptoms that a person may experience. After the ‘detox’ process the alcohol dependent individual should be enrolled in an alcohol rehab program, like the one here at Valiant Recovery. It is crucial to keep an eye on the alcoholism signs in order to notice if there has been any regression in their treatment plan.

There are a vast number of issues and aspects to the Alcohol abuse treatment process.

Alcoholics Anonymous (‘AA’) is an example of a well-known program which comes to mind for most people. A key aspect of such alcohol rehab programs is the “12 step program” originally introduced by AA. At Valiant Recovery we also incorporate the “12 step program,” along with other effective methods.

Unlike most alcohol rehabilitation centers, we take a personalized approach to all of our treatments. We design a customized plan of care around each individual. Every person has their different and individual needs for a successful treatment process. We are committed to providing for each of these needs and addictions. At Valiant Recovery we emphasize one-on-one counseling in our alcohol addiction recovery program to deal with personal issues and allow for diagnosis of any concurrent disorders. We are trained to recognize any and all alcoholism signs. If any additional disorders are discovered they are incorporated into the individual program for that person.

At Valiant Recovery our clients care and recovery is our priority. We know that when you can sense genuine concern from caregivers, your treatment time will be more positive and productive.

At Valiant Recovery our alcohol rehab programs consist of a balance of different therapy models. These include experiential therapy which is the use of daily activities such as nature walks, skiing, golfing or horseback riding. These activities are enjoyable and provide positive and healthy experiences of a life worth living. There is more to the process at our alcohol abuse treatment center than just talking or the absence of alcohol.

Valiant Recovery understands that it takes a serious commitment and several months before the addiction to alcohol is completely gone. We will provide continuing care and relapse prevention plans to help our clients live a free and sober life. Our post-care alcohol abuse rehab counselors will help you find post treatment support in your home town.

There are many signs which may indicate that you or a loved one needs alcohol abuse treatment. Many individuals with an alcohol problem use the excuse of social drinking, but if you are drinking alone or drinking on a daily basis then it may be time to seek help. Watch for varying degrees of alcoholism signs in yourself and your loved ones. It may not be clear in the beginning but that is the best time for your loved one or yourself to go to an alcohol abuse treatment center to achieve the most positive results.

Our staff at Valiant Recovery want you to understand that you do not have to be alone in this ordeal and we are here to help you or a loved one you care for get the treatment that is needed. Our wish is to help our clients recover from their addictions and damaging behaviors with the understanding that recovery was a crucial step to living a much happier life.

A Center for Addiction Recovery, CFAR, is an accredited rehab center, providing the most up-to-date Medical Detox, Intensive Outpatient and Residential Addiction Treatment Programs since 2002. Our addiction treatment programs provide treatment for male and female clients who are struggling with alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs and process addictions such as compulsive gambling and eating disorders.

CFAR embraces traditional and holistic approaches in the treatment of addiction which includes the non-12 Step SMART RECOVERY, and the 12 Step Recovery Program. All addiction treatment programs at A Center for Addiction Recovery focus on treating the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our clients’ recovery, helping them to identify and address the root causes that may have triggered their addictive behaviors. There are many instances that a past trauma has played a major role in someone’s addiction which in turns affects his or her treatment and recovery. In such cases we utilize the most promising trauma treatment approach, Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), which is exclusively delivered at A Center for Addiction Recovery by the founder and the developer of this therapy, Dr. Jon Connelly.

During RRT clients do not become overwhelmed or feel helpless by re-living the traumatic event. Neither do they go through hypnosis. They are able to clear their trauma while awake and present. Once the mind is clear from the trauma, clients have a far greater chance of achieving a successful recovery. With one-half to two-thirds of people with addictions suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and about the same proportion of people with PTSD having developed an addiction, CFAR finds it absolutely essential to treat both conditions effectively at the same time to provide clients with the best chance for a successful recovery.

All of our addiction treatment therapies are delivered by our experienced, caring and non-judgmental addiction specialists which consist of physicians, psychiatrists, nursing professionals, licensed social workers and mental health counselors. All treatment services are provided in our 12 acre facility without any need to transport clients to different locations for different therapies. This allows our clients to comfortably transition from detox to residential treatment under the supervision of the staff that has got to know them and follows their treatment closely through various stages of recovery.

Relieving Stress During Addiction Treatment

As part of CFAR’s innovative approach in the treatment of addiction, we combine medical detox with biofeedback sessions. This powerful treatment approach is delivered at our Serenity Lounge, where a combination of music, choreographed imagery, vibrations and bi-neural beats are utilized to induce a natural meditative state. By utilizing biofeedback therapy, clients practice deep-breathing and engage in positive emotional thoughts. The “Serenity” biofeedback sessions are proven to be a very successful tool in aiding the process of mental and emotional healing in individuals who are starting their recovery. Biofeedback is one of the many holistic therapies that A Center for Addiction Recovery offers to promote relaxation and stress release. These therapies include but are not limited to: Yoga, Meditation, Massage Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Personal Training and sports activities such as Basketball and Volleyball.

#palliative care

Palliative Care Center

What is palliative care?

It is hard to live with a serious illness. You may feel lonely, angry, scared, or sad. You may feel that your treatment is doing more harm than good. You may have pain or other disturbing symptoms. Palliative care can help you and your loved ones cope with all of these things.

Palliative care is a kind of care for people who have serious illnesses. It is different from care to cure your illness, called curative treatment. Palliative care focuses on improving your quality of life-not just in your body, but also in your mind and spirit. Sometimes palliative care is combined with curative treatment.

The kind of care you get depends on what you need. Your goals guide your care. Palliative care can help reduce pain or treatment side effects. Palliative care may help you and your loved ones better understand your illness, talk more openly about your feelings, or decide what treatment you want or do not want. It can also help with communication among your doctors, nurses, and loved ones.

Why would I want palliative care?

Palliative care providers are interested in what is bothering you and what is important to you. They want to know how you and your loved ones are doing day-to-day. They understand that your illness affects not just you, but also those you love.

Your palliative care providers will ask questions about how your illness affects your emotions and spirit. Then they will try to make sure that your medical care meets your goals for your body, mind, and spirit. They will also help you make future plans around your health and medical care.

You might see a palliative care provider just once or maybe more often. He or she will work with your other doctors to give you the best care possible.

Who is involved in palliative care?

Palliative care actively involves you and your loved ones. Together you will work with health care providers in your doctor’s office or your home, or in a hospital, nursing home, or hospice. If you are interested in palliative care, talk with your doctor. He or she may be able to manage your palliative care needs or may refer you to someone who is trained in palliative care.

Skin Cancer Diagnosis and Process

A thorough dermoscopic skin check is done for a melanoma skin cancers, basal cell skin cancers or sqaumous cell skin cancers. We have specialist dermoscopists and skin cancer surgeons at Eastmed Doctors, who can not only diagnose your skin cancer accurately, but also offer you to treat them here in the custom built surgical theatre. Your skin cancer surgery will by performed under local anaesthetic injections with minimal discomfort. The skin cancer that is cut out is send to the lab for the pathologist to analyse what type of skin cancer this is and whether we have removed it completely. The skin is usually repaired with absorbable sutures to give you a very neat scar.

Melanoma Skin Cancer Treatment

Melanoma skin cancer moles can either be dark or light or sometimes an enlarging red spot. If a skin cancer is suspected to be a melanoma the only treatment option is to remove this mole as soon as possible. If you discover a new brown, black, or red mole, please make an appointment with one of our doctors and this will be dealt with promptly.

Basal Cell Skin Cancer Treatment

A basal cell skin cancer arises from the basal layers of the skin. This is a very common skin cancer. It used to be known as a rodent ulcer in the past, since it eats away in the middle destroying tissue and bone on its way and enlarges when no treatment was offered. This does not happen now since we pick these up very early. They usually look like a pearl red or pink mole with lots of tiny blood vessels on the surface. Sometimes they are flat red spots on the skin. They usually break down in the middle, causing a hole in the bump, which can bleed. Many patients also have them in the ears which bleed causing stains on the pillows.

If the basal mole is large and flat and the diagnosis is uncertain, then a punch biopsy can be done to prove what it is before cutting the whole mole out. Some we do frozen section – this is removing a small part of the mole and have this looked by the pathologist in the lab quickly, before removing more out. This is similar to Moh’s surgery

If the punch biopsy reveals a superficial basal cell cancer, then Aldara ( imiquimod ) cream is funded. This is a immune cream, which works in conjunction with your immune system to clear this mole. This is very successful. Sometime Effudix cream can also be used.

If the diagnosis is certain or the punch biopsy reveals an invasive basal cell cancer, then removing this entire mole is the only option.

Squamous Skin Cancer Treatment

Squamous cell cancers usually come in the lips or legs. There look like very rough skin on top of the mole, sometimes bleeds. They can be very large red flat scaly spots on the skin. If the area is large then punch biopsy can be done to see how bad the squamous cell mole cancer is before removing this entirely. If it is a pre-cancerous mole, then Liquid Nitrogen or Freezing Ice works very well to clear this. If the squamous cell cancers especially on the face, ears or lips or legs which are deep, they need to be removed entirely to offer complete cure.

Sun Spots – Actinic Keratosis – Pre Skin Cancer Treatment

Some of these are precancerous lesions. They can be effectively treated with Aldara ( imiquimod ) or Liquid Nitrogen or Efudix ( 5-Fluorouracil cream ) creams.

Liquid Nitrogen – Freezing Ice

Liquid Nitrogen or Freezing ice treatment is available at Eastmed Doctors. This can be effectively used to treat a variety of pre-cancerous rough spots, sun spots and superficial basal cell skin cancers.

Anticancer Creams

Aldara ( imiquimod ). or Efudix ( 5-Fluorouracil cream ) are used at Eastmed doctors for treatment of skin cancers which respond to them – mainly pre-cancerous sun spots, Actinic keratosis and Superficial basal cell cancers.

Skin Cancer Checks and Treatment

If you are new patient and wish to have a skin cancer mole check and have your skin cancer treated at the same time, book an appointment online. choose Dr. Siva Nachiappan from the list and indicate in the special instruction box you are a new patient and you are coming in to have your moles checked. PTSD: National Center for PTSD

PTSD and Substance Abuse in Veterans

Substance Abuse Flyer

Some people try to cope with their Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms by drinking heavily, using drugs, or smoking too much. People with PTSD have more problems with drugs and alcohol both before and after getting PTSD. Also, even if someone does not have a problem with alcohol before a traumatic event, getting PTSD increases the risk that he or she will develop a drinking or drug problem.

Eventually, the overuse of these substances can develop into Substance Use Disorder (SUD), and treatment should be given for both PTSD and SUD to lead to successful recovery. The good news is that treatment of co-occurring (happening at the same time) PTSD and SUD works.

How common is co-occurring PTSD and SUD in Veterans?

Studies show that there is a strong relationship between PTSD and SUD, in both civilian and military populations, as well as for both men and women.

Specific to Veterans:

  • More than 2 of 10 Veterans with PTSD also have SUD.
  • War Veterans with PTSD and alcohol problems tend to be binge drinkers. Binges may be in response to bad memories of combat trauma.
  • Almost 1 out of every 3 Veterans seeking treatment for SUD also has PTSD.
  • The number of Veterans who smoke (nicotine) is almost double for those with PTSD (about 6 of 10) versus those without a PTSD diagnosis (3 of 10).
  • In the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, about 1 in 10 returning soldiers seen in VA have a problem with alcohol or other drugs.

How can co-occurring PTSD and SUD create problems?

If someone has both PTSD and SUD, it is likely that he or she also has other health problems (such as physical pain), relationship problems (with family and/or friends), or problems in functioning (like keeping a job or staying in school). Using drugs and/or alcohol can make PTSD symptoms worse.

  • PTSD may create sleep problems (trouble falling asleep or waking up during the night). You might “medicate” yourself with alcohol or drugs because you think it helps your sleep, but drugs and alcohol change the quality of your sleep and make you feel less refreshed.
  • PTSD makes you feel “numb,” like being cut off from others, angry and irritable, or depressed. PTSD also makes you feel like you are always “on guard.” All of these feelings can get worse when you use drugs and alcohol.
  • Drug and alcohol use allows you to continue the cycle of “avoidance” found in PTSD. Avoiding bad memories and dreams or people and places can actually make PTSD last longer. You cannot make as much progress in treatment if you avoid your problems.
  • You may drink or use drugs because it distracts you from your problems for a short time, but drugs and alcohol make it harder to concentrate, be productive, and enjoy all parts of your life.

VA has made it easier to get help. It is important to know that treatment can help and you are not alone.

What treatments are offered for co-occurring PTSD and SUD?

Evidence shows that in general people have improved PTSD and SUD symptoms when they are provided treatment that addresses both conditions. This can involve any of the following (alone or together):

Talk with your provider about treatment for specific symptoms like pain, anger, or sleep problems.

What should I do if I think I have co-occurring PTSD and SUD?

The first step is to talk to a health professional and ask for more information about treatment options. Each VA medical center has an SUD-PTSD Specialist trained in treating both conditions to reach the best health outcomes. If there are signals you are at risk for both disorders, you will be encouraged to talk with a provider about how to best support your recovery. There are treatment resources at every VA medical center. The VA wants you to have the best possible care for co-occurring PTSD and SUD.

If you continue to be troubled or distracted by your experiences for more than three months or have questions about your drinking or drug use, learn more about treatment options. Life can be better! Talk to a VA or other health professional to discuss choices for getting started.

Physical Therapy for Chronic Pain: What to Expect

Physical therapy is often one of the best choices you can make when you have long-term pain (also called chronic pain) or an injury. It can make you stronger and help you move and feel better.

Ask your doctor to recommend a physical therapist. You’ll probably need a series of visits, and you should practice some of the exercises at home for the best results.

Physical therapists have a lot of training. Still, it’s a good idea to ask them about their experience in working with people who’ve had conditions like yours. You can also ask them how many sessions you’ll need.

How Does Physical Therapy Treat Pain?

Physical therapists are experts not only in treating pain but also its source. Yours will look for areas of weakness or stiffness that may be adding stress to the places that hurt. And they will treat those areas with certain exercises to reduce pain and help you move better.

In a physical therapy session, you may do more than one of these things:

Low-impact aerobic training. These workouts will rev up your heart rate and still take it easy on your joints. For instance, you might walk fast or use a stationary bike to warm up, instead of running, before you do your strengthening exercises.

Strengthening exercises. You might use machines at your physical therapist’s office, resistance bands, or your own body weight (think lunges, squats, and push-ups). You may work on your core muscles (belly, glutes, and back), as well as other parts of your body.

Pain relief exercises. These moves target areas where you have pain, so you’re stronger and more flexible — which should make it easier to live your life.

Stretching. This will be gentle, and your therapist will make sure that you’re warmed up and you don’t stretch too far.

Your physical therapist may prescribe exercises to do at home.

What Else Might I Do?

During your sessions, your therapist may also use:

Heat and ice packs. Ice calms inflammation. Heat warms up your muscles so they move better. Both can lower pain.

Inpatient Drug Rehab Programs

Information on Inpatient Drug Rehab Programs

If you have a severe drug addiction, inpatient drug rehab programs should be the only option you’re exploring right now. This is because if the addiction is big enough, you simply cannot go through it alone, especially not without professional medical care specializing the drug you’re taking. This is because the detoxification period can be scary. There can be dangerous withdrawal symptoms that people aren’t able to deal with alone. They can be just as hazardous to their health as the drug itself and is better suited under the observation of a medical professional.

Enroll in Inpatient Drug Rehab Programs

Don’t let cost keep you from getting into inpatient drug treatment programs. Odds are that your habit has or will cost you a lot more in the long run. Not just by getting the drug, but the health risks and care you’ll need once your body has decided it has taken enough abuse.

SoberRecovery.com can link you up with plenty of inpatient rehab facilities all over the world. Just look on the site to find a place that will suit your needs and make the call!

Inpatient drug rehab programs can be successful if you let them be. Keep a positive mind and a strong support system and you’ll be sure to find sobriety. “Attitude determines altitude.” Unknown.

Holistic drug rehab solutions involve treating the individual as a whole. Many treatment centers look at this in terms of the mind, body, and social conditions of a recovering drug addict. Keep on reading to know more about this.

Residential Drug Treatment Programs – Residential Addiction Recovery #residential #drug #treatment #programs

Benefits of Residential Treatment Programs for Substance Abuse Rehabilitation

Drug Addiction Treatment Programs

People who have developed a chemical dependency can benefit on several levels from participating in drug addiction treatment programs. A quality treatment program not only helps people achieve sobriety, but it can also help them overcome the underlying problems that contribute to addiction.

Residential treatment programs provide substance addicts in recovery with a sheltered environment in which they can dedicate themselves wholly to breaking their addiction. Properly conceived and administered residential addiction recovery programs are staffed with experienced and caring medical and counseling professionals who are able to effectively guide the patient as he or she deals with the physical and psychological causes and results of substance addiction.

Residential treatment programs are available for alcoholism rehabilitation, as well as for recovery from legal or street drug addiction. They provide a full spectrum of rehabilitative services, including detoxification that prevents the recovering addict from experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms, as well as intensive counseling and therapy that is designed to deal with the root causes of addiction.

Choosing the right residential addiction recovery provider and framework depends upon a number of factors, including the patient s age and gender, whether the patient is addicted to more than one substance, payment and insurance coverage considerations. and location or setting. Whenever you need assistance in choosing the right residential treatment program for yourself or a loved one who is suffering from alcohol, drug or multiple substance addition, we are here to help. Please call our 24-hour helpline at 1-888-439-3435 or fill out our contact form so that we can help you find a residential addiction recovery center that provides the right methods of guidance and support for dealing with substance addiction.

Features of Residential Treatment Programs

The goal of residential addiction recovery programs is to provide the recovering addict with intensive psychological and medical support so that he or she is able to overcome the acute phase of withdrawal from abused substances, and then to provide guidance that helps the former addict return to society and to a normal, substance-free life. To that end, residential treatment programs for substance abuse provide certain basic services including:

  • Intake and assessment
  • Medical treatment
  • Detoxification
  • Psychiatric medical treatment
  • Psychological counseling and related services
  • Behavioral modification
  • Therapeutic activities

Treatment Priorities

Data were collected in 2016 by the company Recovery Brands asking people that were leaving a rehab program what center aspects they viewed as top priority aspects to consider when deciding on treatment. The most important consideration was the program s financial policies, such as payment options, insurance accepted, and financial support. They also placed a high importance on facility offerings (room quality, facility housing, facility housing, etc.) significantly more after graduating from treatment. Individuals looking for treatment may want to consider a clinic s financial policies as well as clinic offerings to help them make their facility choice.

Intake and assessment

The initial phase of the residential addiction recovery program begins when the patient is accepted into the program and specialists assess the type and severity of addiction that is involved. Most importantly, this initial step toward recovery is designed to help the patient avoid the discomfort and danger of withdrawal symptoms by determining what type of acute medical treatment is necessary.

Medical Treatment

Medical management of withdrawal symptoms by controlled administration of one or more medications that substitute for abused substances usually begins as soon as the medical staff understands the nature and scope of the patient s addiction. However, the medical staff often must also treat underlying conditions that caused the patient to become addicted. In the case of addiction to legal medications. the patient may be suffering from a painful medical condition or the aftermath of an injury that requires pain control. Addiction to street drugs may mask one or more psychiatric conditions that also must be treated with proper medication.

Psychological Counseling and Related Services

As soon as the patient s withdrawal symptoms are under control and the patient is ready to begin facing the causes of his or her addiction, individual and group therapy sessions become the focus of treatment. Some residential treatment programs service a very small number of patients at one time, so that all therapy sessions are individualized for each patient. Other residential addiction recovery centers are set up so that group therapy sessions and activities, in which patients discuss their issues along with fellow patients who have similar experiences with addiction, are a major part of the healing process. Residential treatment facilities also offer exercise sessions, art and music therapy, and meditation or other spiritual activities that help the patient overcome addiction by finding healthier ways to deal with stress and other underlying issues.

If you or a loved one needs more information on how residential treatment programs can help with even the most severe addiction issues, please call our 24-hour help line at 1-888-439-3435 or fill out our contact form. We will help you understand the residential addiction recovery process and explain the advantages of residential treatment programs for healing from substance addiction.

Our new facilities are really UNIQUE among other urgent cares. They are extra clean, spacious and well maintained. There is no other urgent care facility with similar warm, comfortable, clean and spacious waiting room.

All of our clinics are designed to be a “mini-ER”. Our exam rooms are up to date and each clinic is equipped with EKG, Cardiac/vitals Monitor and all other necessary tools for minor emergencies.

We use non-disposable surgical tools (much better than the ER disposable Tools). We have an autoclave in every facility to sterilize these equipment.

We have used an Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) since 2008 and we use electronic prescription system in all of our clinics. Our EMR system is Aprima. This offers a great advantage to our patients in terms of storing and reproducing the medical records. In addition, you do not have to worry about paper registration or about telling us your medications and allergies more than once.

We have been using the Digital X-Rays reading technology at all of our clinics. The FUJI Digital X-Rays reader offers greater accuracy in reading X-Rays, since it allows the doctor to magnify the image, change the contrast and rotate. It makes the interpretation of X-rays much easier. Patients are usually shown their X-rays immediately after it is done. Our X-rays are reviewed usually by a board certified radiologist within 24-48 hours from the time it is done (Fridays and weekends are read on Monday).

The Woodhaven and Garden city sites have a full service pharmacy attached to the clinic.

    Our Staff

Our clinics are staffed with experienced Board certified ER, Family practice physicians, surgeons, internists and PA’s. We offer superior high quality medical care

    Our Roster Includes Dr. Nasry
    Dr. Mahfooz
    Dr. Embree
    Dr. VandeRoest
    Dr. Shaker
    Dr. Harp

Each clinic is managed by experienced medical assistants. We educate our employees and strive to deliver the best possible service in the best possible time; although, we must admit we are not perfect but we are committed to continuous education and improvement.

Opiate Abuse Symptoms, Signs and Addiction Treatment #opiate #treatment #options

    Opiate Abuse

    What Are Opiates?

Opiates cover a huge variety of drugs, ranging from legal drugs such as fentanyl. codeine. and morphine to illegal drugs such as heroin and opium.

    Examples of opiates include:

    • Heroin.
    • Morphine.
    • Oxycodone (trade names include: OxyContin and Percocet).
    • Hydrocodone (trade names include: Vicodin and Lortab).
    • Codeine.
    • Fentanyl.

That sounds better. How about this: “You may hear the term “opioid” in reference to prescription opiates. Technically, the concept of “opiates” encompasses drugs naturally derived from the active narcotic components of the opium poppy, whereas the “opioid” label includes synthetic and semi-synthetic drugs that are modified versions of these opiate building blocks. “Opioid” is usually used in reference to prescription drugs. The terms “opiates” and “opioids” are often used interchangeably, however.

Opiate addiction is a major issue in the U.S. with prescription opiate addiction being one of the biggest drug problems today. Opiate medications are surprisingly easy to obtain. In fact, an estimated 210 million prescriptions for opiates were dispensed in 2010 alone. Frighteningly, prescription opiate abusers are far more likely to eventually develop a heroin addiction than a non-opiate abuser, as heroin will offer a similar high at a cheaper price.

Any long-term use puts you at risk of addiction. even if the substance is used as prescribed. Many people who use opiates will develop a tolerance to them–a phenomenon that can trigger the cycle of addiction. This means that the same amount of the drug no longer has the same effect as it once did. When this occurs, people routinely take more and more of the substance to elicit the desired response. This ever-increasing dosing places one at great risk for overdose.

Video: The Deadly Truth About Opiates

    Effects of Opiate Abuse

Often, the facts about the effects of opiate use are misleading because they may only focus on the short-term impact. For example, opiates often cause vomiting and diarrhea, sedation and delayed reactions in the short term.

What’s not often mentioned, however, are the long-term symptoms. Long-term symptoms include:

    • Weakened immune system functioning.
    • Gastric problems ranging from the troublesome (e.g. constipation) to severe (e.g. intestinal ileus, bowel perforation).
    • A plethora of medical issues secondary to intravenous administration (e.g. localized abscesses, embolic events, systemic infection, contraction of bloodborne illnesses).
    • Significant respiratory depression; cumulative hypoxic end-organ injury.

    Opiate Abuse Treatment

Opiate recovery typically starts with questions related to the nature of the addiction, such as:

    • How long have you taken the drug?
    • When was the last time you took the drug?
    • How do you usually get your supply?

These questions will help the clinic to decide what treatment approach would be most appropriate.

Three major options for opiate treatment include detoxification (or, simply, detox programs), inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient therapy.

Detox involves withdrawing from the drug, often slowly with the use of stabilizing and maintenance medication under the supervision of a medical treatment team. If you’re detoxing from powerful opiates, you might be prescribed methadoneor buprenorphine to make the transition more manageable. Detoxification is completed on an inpatient basis to maintain safety.

Following the transition from detox, most will be referred for continued treatment via residential rehab or outpatient therapy depending on a number of factors. Influencing the decision for treatment type is the individual’s level of opiate use, the presence of any home or family supports, amounts of insurance coverage/resources to cover care, as well as taking into account any previous attempts at recovery. Rehab typically lasts anywhere from 30 to 90 days with much of the time being devoted to individual therapy, group therapy, and other activities that help promote recovery from opiates and other substances.

During therapy. you will attend sessions with a therapist or counselor. This will help you to uncover the triggers of your addiction. It helps to impart effective coping skills to resist the temptation of drugs while seeking out helpful supports. It can also help you reconnect with your family and friends.

In conjunction with outpatient treatment, some in recovery may require more support. For someone in recovery from opiate addiction, this might take the form of a halfway house or sober living facility. which gives former users the chance to get sober and rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment. Others may simply need a peer support group, such as Narcotics Anonymous .

    Opiate Statistics

More than 210 million opiate prescriptions were filled in 2010, with close to 12 million people admitting to abusing these drugs by taking them for non-medical reasons.

    • Per the CDC, certain studies reveal that as many as three out of every four current heroin users were previously prescription opiate abusers.
    • The amount of painkillers prescribed in 2010 was enough to medicate every American 24 hours day a day for one month.
    • Deaths from opiate painkillers outnumber deaths from all illicit drugs combined.

    Opiate Abuse Quiz question 5

    Teen Opiate Abuse

Teen opiate use tends to be focused on Vicodin and OxyContin. as these are the most relatively easy opiates for many teens obtain. Also, younger users will be more likely to use these substances due to misperceptions regarding risk. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. in 2014:

    • Only 1% of high school seniors used heroin in their lifetime.
    • 3% of high school seniors used OxyContin during the last year.
    • 8% of high school seniors used Vicodin during the last year.

Teens are likely to combine an opiate with alcohol (another depressant), leading to more dangerous effects–including heightened risk of experiencing severe respiratory depression.

    Resources, Articles, and More Information

The CDC has a number of articles on drug abuse, particularly with regard to prescription opiate abuse. In addition, NIDA has an article on treatments typically used for opiate addiction.

    Termination Guidelines, by Jeffrey Barnett, Psy #termination, #psychotherapy, #counseling, #abrupt, #treatment #plan, #follow #up, #referrals, #codes #of #ethics, #psychologist, #mft, #social #worker, #counselor, #marriage #and #family #therapist, #social #work, #online #courses, #ce, #continuing #education, #apa, #nbcc, #apa, #nsw, #camft

    Termination Guidelines

  • Clarify expectations and obligations from the outset. The Office Policies are the best way to articulate and discuss such expectations and obligations. (Zur Institute’s Clinical Forms .)
  • Be familiar with the relevant guidelines and standards in your professions’ Codes of Ethics with regards to termination and abandonment issues. Summary of the different Codes of Ethics on Termination Psychotherapy and Counseling
  • Some terminations are short and swift, while others may be long and protracted. Then termination can have different meanings and be just an end of a phase in intermittent-long-term therapy. The form and type of termination depends on the client, setting of therapy, therapeutic orientation, quality and type of therapist-client relationship and the therapist.
  • If necessary, review with patients their insurance coverage, limits to managed care contracts, and how utilization review may impact on termination. Set up arrangements for addressing patient treatment needs if continued authorization is denied.
  • Make adequate arrangements for coverage during any periods of planned or unplanned absences.
  • Provide patients with referrals to other treatment sources, if needed, and work to assist them in their transition to other health care providers.
  • Be cautious in regard to termination of patients who are in crisis. Try to avoid terminating clients who are in acute or temporary crisis due to payment issues.
  • The average number of visits among U.S. patients receiving psychotherapy in 2007 was 8 sessions, according to a study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry.
  • 41 percent of patients in the U.S. quit psychotherapy “prematurely,” according to a 2010 study in the journal Psychotherapy Theory, Research, Practice, Training.
  • Many clients unilaterally decide to drop out of therapy. They may do that with a phone message or by simply not showing up to their next scheduled appointment. You must remember that it is the client’s prerogative and choice whether to continue in therapy or not. Except in extreme situations, such as when the client poses a danger to self or others, you need to respect their choice. Do not tacitly condone patients dropping out of treatment when your clinical judgment indicates continued care is needed. When clinically and otherwise appropriate, notify the patient of your assessment and recommendations. There is no ethical, clinical or legal mandate to send a registered letter to client. Different clients and situations may require different actions and, at times, lack of action.
  • The question of whether therapists need to send a letter to clients who unilaterally dropped out (i.e. pre-mature termination) was recently addressed by Davis & Younggren in a 2009 PPRP article, where they clearly stated “In ordinary circumstances, however, letters are typically unnecessary and potentially counterproductive to the natural dissolution of the relationship (Davis, 2008). For instance, the client might feel embarrassed or scolded for his or her oblique termination and be less inclined to return. The client might perceive the psychotherapist’s actions as controlling and unnecessarily intrusive. It might seem that the psychotherapist is trying to break up with the client or get rid of him or her with such a formal action. Routine letters of closure not only present an unrealistic administrative burden on the provider, they add to the risk of negative client reactions.” (p. 575)
  • It is not unusual for therapy to break down rather than go through a smooth, clear or distinct termination process with patients with personality disorders (i.e. BPD) or those who were diagnosed with severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia or Bi-Polar disorders. Termination with these clients can be very abrupt or very long, painful, confusing and tumultuous. Obviously, each case should be handled according to the specific context of therapy. The context of therapy includes client, setting, therapy and therapist factors.
  • You can terminate treatment with clients (or another person with whom the client has a relationship) who threaten or stalk you, your family member or your employees via phone, email, online, in-person or other means. You can also terminate treatment with clients who intrude into your private life via the Internet or in “real” life. You are allowed to protect your privacy and secure your own, your family members’ and employee’s sense of privacy and safety. (Document, document and document.)
  • You must terminate therapy when it becomes reasonably clear that the patient no longer needs the service, is not likely to benefit, or is being harmed by continued service. For those patients who have ongoing treatment needs, when appropriate, one should offer to provide them with assistance with referrals to other appropriately trained and accessible professionals (except when we are being threatened, assaulted, stalked, or other relevant situations).
  • Document discussions of termination issues, agreements reached, decisions made and their rationale, and, when relevant, document the recommendations and follow-ups. Purchase a Termination Summary form
  • Termination of treatment is not always a permanent ending of the professional relationship. Termination is often not relevant during, or an end of phase in, intermittent-long-term psychotherapy. These forms of therapy may continue throughout the life span of individuals and families.
  • Termination is a phase of each patient’s treatment. If possible and appropriate, plan for it, prepare for it, process it. Additionally, each clinician should consider termination in light of their theoretical orientation and treatment approach, each patient’s/client’s diagnosis and treatment needs, and any relevant diversity factors that might impact the process.

  • How To Choose A Pest Control Company #cryonite #bed #bug #treatment

How To Choose A Pest Control Company

According to Andy Architect of the National Pest Management Association, there are more that 19,000 pest management firms operating in the United States. Unfortunately, these companies are not all created equally. Here are some steps from entomologist, Jeff White, to narrow your options and find the best:

    • Use web and telephone directories to locate several pest management firms in your area. Some may designate themselves as bed bug specialists, but this designation should only be an indicator and not a deciding factor.
    • Only utilize companies that have been registered to apply pesticides by the pesticide regulatory agency in your state. Lacking this license should serve as an immediate red flag. To find your state’s agency visit: http://npic.orst.edu/state1.htm .
    • Search for companies that use integrated pest management (IPM) services. IPM is a form of pest management designed to minimize the use of pesticides. Companies that utilize an IPM approach are more likely to provide ongoing monitoring and a multidisciplinary approach to bed bug management (more on this later).

Once you hire a pest management firm they may be entering your home and spraying pesticides or performing services that can cost hundreds of dollars. Interviewing the selected companies is not only your right, it is strongly advised.

Ask companies about their membership in recognized national, state, and local pest control associations. Membership to these associations requires periodic evaluation of their pest management protocols as well as ethical business practices. Some key associations to look for include:

    • The National Pest Management Association (NPMA), state pest management associations, QualityPro, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and bedbugFREE. Companies may also be members of equivalent associations.
    • Membership with the bedbugFREE national network is a particularly important affiliation to consider when bed bug treatments are desired. This membership indicates that companies are not only members of NPMA and/or QualityPro, but have also had their bed bug treatment protocols evaluated to ensure they share multidisciplinary treatment methods and philosophies similar to Bed Bug Central’s protocol.

Ask companies about their integrated pest management (IPM) approach to bed bug treatments. A good company should utilize some, if not all, of these procedures:

    • Use of a multidisciplinary approach beyond pesticides such as: vacuuming, cleaning, steaming, using mattress encasements instead of treating beds with pesticides, heat or Cryonite treatments, and/or fumigation.
    • Insist on inspecting before quoting a final price.
    • Price jobs according to findings and not just a flat fee.
    • Educate you on bed bugs, the company’s inspection findings, what they will be doing, and prevention.
    • Provide a written inspection report and a strategy for services rendered.
    • Provide a thorough follow up program that is not based upon a minimum number of visits but rather is based upon the current status of the bed bug activity. Follow ups should continue until control or elimination is achieved.
    • Inquire if children or pets are present and adjust their treatment protocol and use of pesticides accordingly.
    • Have a well-defined methodology for determining when an infestation has been eliminated.
    • Work with property managers to notify adjacent apartments about the problem and recommend including surrounding units for inspections and treatments.

Comply with a company’s recommendations. When treating for bed bugs, companies will often recommend follow up actions customers can take to enhance the treatment process. Do your part and follow these recommendations.

    • Ask about the company’s treatment plan options and agree on a pricing structure. Bed bugs can be a pricey pest to eliminate so the cheapest service is rarely the best.
    • Walk your home with the pest management professional during each visit to keep track of what work is being done.
    • Ask the pest control professional to point out any conditions that may undermine bed bug control efforts and ask for recommendations to be included in a written inspection report.
    • Know what you and the company are each responsible for, if repairs are not in the agreement you should be provided with a list of items needed to resolve the issue.
    • Finally, educate yourselves! Education may be the most valuable tool in the fight against bed bugs in both prevention and treatment. There is an excellent bed bug information resource available at Bed Bug Central called Bed Bugs 101 .

As you have probably gathered, selecting an appropriate pest management firm that is capable of effectively treating for bed bugs can be difficult.

To simplify this task, Bed Bug Central has created a website directory of like-minded pest management firms in the United States and Canada that share a similar philosophy and approach to bed bug management known as the bedbugFREE network. Follow the link to view members of the bedbugFREE network .

The right plan can help with all three of the major components of ADHD. inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity control. The goal of treatment is to help your child follow rules, concentrate, and have good relationships with parents, teachers, and peers.

These treatment options are all considered safe, but no two children are alike, and what works for some kids may not work as well for yours.

Together with the doctor, you’ll develop a plan that meets your child’s specific needs. It may take time to figure out what works best. The plan may include medications. behavioral therapy, or both.

The main medications used to treat ADHD are stimulants and nonstimulants. Sometimes antidepressants are also used.

Stimulants are the most common treatment in children and teens. This is usually the type of medication a doctor may try first. Stimulants have been used for a long time and are well-tested. They help the brain control impulses and control behavior and attention.

Kids with certain medical conditions shouldn’t take stimulants. Make sure the doctor knows your child’s medical history before he prescribes any medication.

If the first drug the doctor prescribes doesn’t seem to help with symptoms, he may raise the dosage, suggest a different medication, or suggest your child take another drug along with the stimulant.

Nonstimulants aren’t as well tested. They work in different ways than stimulants, but they can help with concentration and impulse control. For some kids, they may be a better option than stimulants, but they’re often used along with stimulants.

These nonstimulants are FDA-approved for ADHD in children and teens:

Antidepressants aren’t specifically approved to treat ADHD, but they can help with inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. They’re an option for children who haven’t done well on a stimulant alone. Taking an antidepressant along with a stimulant seems to work well for children who have ADHD along with a mood disorder such as depression or anxiety.

There are several types of antidepressants.

Tricyclic antidepressants. These affect chemicals in the brain.

    Examples of tricyclic antidepressants include:

Bupropion (Wellbutrin ). The doctor may prescribe this if your child doesn’t do well with stimulants.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These are the most commonly prescribed antidepressants for people with depression. These have been tried for ADHD:

Venlafaxine (Effexor ). This drug also affects chemicals in the brain. It helps improve mood and concentration in children and teens.

    Side Effects

All these drugs can cause side effects. They usually happen when a child first starts treatment. They’re usually mild and go away fairly soon. Before your child starts any new medication, talk to his doctor about what to expect.

If you become concerned about side effects while your child is on a medication, call the doctor. Don’t make changes in the treatment without talking to him.

    Behavioral Therapy

This type of therapy uses positive reinforcement for good behavior and negative reinforcement for unwanted behaviors. A mental health professional — a psychologist, social worker, or family therapist — works with you and your child’s teachers to set up a program to improve your child’s behaviors.

Behavioral therapy is often used along with ADHD medications. but it can also be used alone.

    Other Treatments

Some studies have shown that omega-3 supplements may be helpful for some children with ADHD. In fact, there are prescription omega-3 supplements available. Some kids with ADHD may benefit from changes in diet, such as going gluten-free or avoiding certain food dyes and additives. Talk to your child’s doctor about the best options for him.

Mesothelioma Foundation Experts Can Answer Your Questions!

Viewed as an asbestos related cancer, peritoneal mesothelioma, is the second most common type of mesothelioma, discovered at a rate of around 250 new cases a year, or in about 10-15% of all types of mesothelioma diagnoses.

    Where Does Peritoneal Mesothelioma Occur?

Peritoneal mesothelioma occurs in the abdomen, on the surface of the omentum and visceral organs. Because of its relation to the abdomen, peritoneal mesothelioma is also often referred to as abdominal mesothelioma.

Linked to asbestos exposure. the disease is thought to develop when asbestos fibers become trapped in either the trachea or lungs, before eventually being passed into the peritoneum (abdomen).

As the disease develops around the abdominal lining, fluid accumulation occurs – which in turn leads to increased abdominal swelling.

Due to its long latency period, symptoms for abdominal mesothelioma often will not appear for several years after a patient is exposed to asbestos. On average, this latency period can occur anywhere from 25-40 years after the exposure occurs. Contact your healthcare professional immediately if you suspect that you may be experiencing any symptoms associated of mesothelioma.

With this type of mesothelioma, symptoms are a result of fluid accumulation and tumor expansion in and around the peritoneum (abdomen). This often results in the expansion of the abdomen. Other symptoms related to abdominal mesothelioma include:

    • Pain in the abdomen
    • Weight loss and loss of appetite
    • Elevated white blood count

Patients with peritoneal mesothelioma often go undiagnosed until the disease is in its final stages. While treatment is mostly palliative and not curative, doctors and mesothelioma specialists can offer a number of treatment options in order to relieve symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma and possibly extend life expectancy.

    • Peritoneal Surgery. Though not mostly not curative, extended survivals through surgery have been reported by a select group of surgeons who specialize in the treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma
    • Chemotherapy for Peritoneal. Studies have demonstrated that the most active regimen can reduce tumors in 40% of patients and extend life in those that respond to chemotherapy. While it is often no viewed as a curative option, chemotherapy has also been shown to have palliative effects, including reducing shortness of breath, reducing ascites or effusions, reducing pain and improving the quality of life
    • Radiation for Peritoneal Mesothelioma. Radiation has proved to have limited effect as a primary treatment for peritoneal or abdominal mesothelioma. However, as a palliative treatment during and after surgery, it has proven useful in preventing malignant seeding of the incision sites

Please note that many of the signs and symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma are often associated with other illnesses. Contact the Meso Foundation s Nurse Practitioner for expert help.

Addiction is a disease, regardless of what a person may be addicted to. The sooner one realizes that it is a disease, the sooner one can learn about. At Drug Treatment Centers Richmond, we have encountered many people who struggle with drugs, alcohol and prescription drug addictions. Coming to the realization that your casual use of substances of abuse has turned into an addiction can be difficult. Many times addicts don’t seek help because they don’t want to admit that they have a problem or they believe there is no use in trying. Drug Treatment Centers Richmond can guarantee that they will do all they can to help patients manage their addiction. Positive motivation and building self-confidence can make all the difference in recovery from addiction and the staff of Drug Treatment Centers Richmond understands that. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction calling Drug Treatment Centers Richmond can help. Rehabilitation begins with safely detoxing followed by therapy and relapse prevention. Recovery doesn’t happen over- night but a treatment center can help you build back the life lost to substance abuse.

Many people are in denial that they have a problem. Others know that there is a problem but they are too afraid or too proud to ask for help. The side effects of drug abuse are not always seen and they can appear in various ways. Many people close to the person with the addiction problem will be unaware that something is going on. People can keep their addictions quiet for months and sometimes even years.

There is no shame in asking for help and doing so is the first step towards beginning substance abuse rehab. Our staff can provide assistance every step of the way. You don’t have to go through any of this alone.

    The Danger of Addiction

Various dangers exist as a result of being addicted to drugs. A person can experience a decline in health, lose their jobs, lose their friends, damage relationships and ultimately lose their life. Rehab treatment is necessary to show a person that they don’t need to rely on drugs, and their life does have value. These are some of the issues that are tackled throughout our Richmond addiction center.

When the dangers are explained in detail, it can be an eye-opening experience for our clients. Many had no idea that drinking, taking pain killers, or turning to illicit substances could be as dangerous as it is. This revelation allows many to take the step to ask for help. This is where we step in and offer recovery tools, counseling and therapy so that people can stop relying on drugs and learn about healthier ways to deal with stress and get through all of the trials and tribulations of life.

    Effective Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation

It is critical to participate in alcohol and drug rehabilitation so that you can lead a healthier life. The moment that you realize that there is a problem, it’s important to raise your hand and get help from someone who understand where you have been, where you are, and can show you the light at the end of the tunnel. Richmond substance abuse rehabilitation centers take an individual approach to diagnose not only the addiction but also the emotional patterns that have led to the substance abuse.

This is a critical step in the addiction therapy because it allows our counselors to provide a more individualized approach to getting better. We can provide you with recovery tools so that you can deal with the stress of the world more effectively now and when you have been released from the program. These tools ensure that you do not relapse .

Work with Professionals at the Drug Treatment Centers Richmond.

There is nothing scarier than trying to overcome abuse of drugs. Withdrawal symptoms can take place shortly after drug use ceases. This is because your brain may have grown dependent on the chemicals in the drug of abuse. Drug dependence happens when the body can no longer function without the drugs in the system. Whereas the brain used to produce certain chemicals on its own (serotonin, dopamine etc.) it now relies on the drug of abuse for these chemicals. At Drug Treatment Centers Richmond we take the time to understand the drug abuse problems and put you through a detox program. From there, you go through recovery treatment so that you can learn the dangers of drugs and begin counseling sessions where you can gain valuable insight as to how you can mend broken relationships and improve your overall quality of life.

If you or a loved one has drug abuse problems contact Drug Treatment Centers Richmond. Call Today at (804) 893-5099 .

Although these may help to reduce symptoms temporarily, the only way to cure Rheumatoid Arthritis is to eliminate the root cause which stems from undigested food particles getting into your blood stream. Eliminate these particles and eliminate the autoimmune attack on your own synovial tissue.
    • Experimenting with nightshade vegetables and/or grandma’s home recipes for arthritis like ginger tea or honey and lemon are going to get you nowhere. RA is a chronic, debilitating disease and it took me years (and a lot of lost cartilage!) before I uncovered the solution that I have used to help people now in 49 countries worldwide.

If you’re looking for dramatic Rheumatoid Arthritis relief then you need to begin by restoring the health of your gut. I’m a living example of what can be done by applying natural techniques to achieve dramatic elimination of Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms. I’ve compiled my Rheumatoid Arthritis research into the ultimate and comprehensive downloadable guide called the Paddison Program for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Remember, this will not only treat the symptoms that you feel and see on the outside such as:

    Swollen and Inflamed Joints

Joints that are red, swollen and warm to touch

Stiffness and ‘Locking Up’ of Joints

A lack of mobility such as unable to straighten elbows or close a fist

    Lack of Energy And Strength

Weakened ligaments and tendons around joints that are caught up in the inflammation process

    Chronic Fatigue

A complete lack of energy, motivation and zest for life

But it also treats the underlying cause of Rheumatoid Arthritis – the part you DON’T see – the actual immune system cross-wire that causes your body to aggressively attack your joint linings that results in severe inflammation and rapid joint degradation.

Quoting Passages Using MLA Style – A Research Guide for Students #passages #treatment

Chapter 5. Quoting Passages Using MLA Style

This Webpage provides only simple illustrations for a few common quotations. For the different placements of sentence periods under varying circumstances, please see sections 3.7.2. Prose, 3.7.3. Poetry, 3.7.4. Drama, 3.7.5. Ellipsis, and 6.3 Readability in the MLA Handbook .

For a detailed treatment on quoting poetry or prose, please use the official MLA Handbook :

Gibaldi, Joseph. MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers . 6th ed. New York: MLA, 2003.

    1. If there is an obvious error in the quoted passage, add (sic) (Latin meaning “thus”) after the error, e.g. “The theraputic (sic) remarks upset the patient immensely” (Morley 24).

    2. To emphasize a passage you may italicize, bold, or underline it, but you must add (italics mine) or (emphasis added) in parentheses after the passage emphasized, e.g. “My job is the best job (italics mine) there is” (Gates 147). Or, “My job is the best job (emphasis added) there is” (Gates 147).

In the MLA Handbook. however, Gibaldi finds that it is rarely appropriate to use italics for emphasis in writing research papers (95) and that “In research papers and manuscripts submitted for publication, words that would be italicized in print are best underlined” (94).

    3. To quote 1 or 2 lines of verse, poem, or poetry, you may use a back slash (/) to mark the end of the first line, e.g. In “Logan Braes,” John Mayne writes: “Revered by friends, and far frae faes, / We’d live in bliss on Logan Braes” (363).

    4. To quote 4 or less lines of prose, you can include the passage within quotation marks as part of your text, e.g. Dick Oliver concludes that “all communication industries [. ] are moving rapidly toward exclusively digital technology” (24).

    5. To quote 5 or more lines of prose, or 3 or more lines of verse, begin on a new line, set the quoted passage off from the text of your essay by indenting 1″ (2.5 cm) or about 10 spaces from the left margin, double-space between lines, without using quotation marks.

    6. To omit part of a quoted passage, you need to indicate the omission by the use of 3 spaced dots enclosed in square brackets, e.g. “The local politicians believe welfare [. ] should all be paid for through income taxes” (Stewart 1).

    7. If your omission is at the end of the sentence, i.e. with an ellipsis at the end, there will be a total of four dots (3 spaced dots enclosed in square brackets followed by a period immediately outside the square brackets, and no period at the end of the parentheses), e.g. “Africa is more than warlords and tyrants [. ].” (De Villiers and Hirtle 15)

    8. If you are quoting 3 or more lines of verse but want to omit one or more full lines, indicate the omission by a single line of spaced dots across the page, enclosed in square brackets, e.g.,

    9. To add a word or a remark to a quotation, or to replace a word or remark in the quotation, you must place your word or remark in square brackets [ ], e.g. “The child [Adam] was left miserably abandoned” (Price 206).

    Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Drug and Alcohol addiction is a complex behavior which has been diagnosed and treated as an illness. Addictions are often characterized by deep, uncontrollable cravings for drugs or alcohol, along with compulsive drug seeking and addictive behaviors that inflicted individuals demonstrate.

Addictions have so many dimensions and touch so many aspects of an individual s life that make addiction treatment not to be a simple program that one size fits all. Effective drug alcohol addiction treatment services incorporate many components, each directed to a particular aspect of the illness and its consequences. Addiction treatment must help the individual stop using drugs, maintain a drug-free lifestyle, and achieve productive functioning in the family, at work, and in society. Because addiction is typically a chronic disease, people cannot simply stop using drugs or alcohol for a few days and be cured. Most patients addicted to drugs and alcohol require long-term or repeated episodes of care to achieve the ultimate goal of sustained abstinence of drug and alcohol, and recovery of their lives.

Addiction rehab treatments help clients participate in the addiction treatment process, adjust their core beliefs on drug abuse and drug addiction, recognize their triggers to their addictive behaviors, become accountable for their choices and actions with regards to drug addiction, resolve interpersonal conflicts and recognized marriage and/or family dynamics. Treatment for drug abuse and addiction may consist of a variety of behavioral approaches. The Cove Center for Recovery embraces psychotherapy, solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, expressive therapy, trauma therapy, cognitive therapy, and experiential therapy as tools for assisting the addicted recovering individual find solutions for the problems associated with drug or alcohol addiction.

    Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Alcohol dependence is also known as alcoholism; however, health professionals tend not to use this term because of its potential to increase stigma and discrimination of the condition. Alcohol dependency is the most common substance use disorder in United States.

    Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers

    Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers

    Alcohol Abuse Treatment Centers

Alcohol abuse is one of the most difficult addictions to admit having. Since alcohol is legal and socially acceptable it is very easy not to think that you have a problem. An alcoholic does not have to be staggering or have blackouts to be considered an alcoholic. There are many people with alcohol addiction that most people do not know about; these people are considered High Functioning alcoholics. Alcohol abuse takes on many forms, from drinking in excess that they blackout or that they just need to have a drink to feel normal.

Alcohol abuse is responsible for more deaths than crack, heroin addiction, and cocaine abuse combined. Alcohol detoxification is also one of the only detoxes that a person can die from because of seizures (this is why we HIGHLY suggest the right treatment center and not home remedies). Alcoholics are also harder to convince that they need to go to an alcohol addiction treatment center because most of them hold jobs and appear to be better off than hardcore drug users. It is important to understand how alcoholics think.

    Understanding Alcoholism

An interesting thing to understand about alcoholism is that it is a choice that is made. If you read the book Alcoholics Anonymous it is never mentioned in the entire book that you have a disease or a drinking problem. It tells you that you have a thinking problem and suffer from a sickness, illness, or malady. Alcoholism is not the problem the problem is the alcoholic. The alcohol abuse is just a symptom of what is really going on. To greatly increase the success of an alcoholic s chance of recovery they must go to a long term inpatient alcohol rehab.

Some people will use medication to help with their addiction but there is little or no success. Drugs such as Antabuse are used to keep people from drinking or it will make them sick. This in no way fixes the problem and is a worthless attempt at a solution, since the addict will eventually just stop taking the drugs and relapse. In order for an alcoholic to recover from alcohol addiction they must change their behaviors and understand why they abuse alcohol (face their demons). As stated above alcohol is not the problem with alcoholics, the person is the problem, alcohol is just the solution.

    The Facts

According to the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence, NCADD. alcohol is the number one abused substance in the United States. It is the number one abused drug in the United States because it is very easy to obtain and in mass quantities. Not only do 1 in ever 12 adults suffer from alcohol dependency, but millions of Americans partake in binge drinking behaviors (5 or more drinks on an occasion). This behavior is very common amongst college aged adults. According to the National Institute of Health, NIH. 37.9 percent of college students partake in binge drinking and 12.2% of college students partake in heavy drinking (5 or more drinks on an occasion on 5 or more occasions per month). Alcoholism is a. epidemic that is seen across the nation. Here are some more facts about alcohol abuse:

    • In 2014, alcohol usage contributed to 88,000 deaths
    • 7 million children (more than 10 percent) live with at least one parent who has an alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse problem
    • Alcoholism ranks 3rd on the list of cause of death in the United States
    • Globally, alcohol has caused 3.3 million deaths in 2012
    • In a recent study, the presence of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders (FASD) is anywhere from 20%-50% per 1,000 births

    Why use Sober Solutions?
At Sober Solutions, we excel at finding the right treatment center for the person. Not every rehab center is a right fit. It is very important to make sure that the environment is just right to ensure a longer lasting sobriety, if a person does not feel comfortable they will either check out or just go through the motions and will relapse once they get out.

Rather than you calling multiple rehab centers and giving information over and over again, you will call our counselors and then they will do the searching for you. You are in a hard situation let us help take some of the stress and get you or your loved one the help that is needed. It is a free service, so why not call?

Long term addiction treatment vs short term

When searching for an alcohol rehab it is important to consider long-term addiction treatment center. Very rarely can an alcoholic become sober by attending a short term addiction treatment center or an outpatient program. Unfortunately most professionals recommend outpatient facilities for alcoholics thinking it will work especially if the alcoholic has convinced them that they drink far less than they are willing to admit. This is why most people fail at their alcohol abuse recovery, they downplay the severity of the alcohol abuse. It is always a better outcome when alcoholics enter a treatment program that is at least 90 days, followed up with a strong aftercare program. Anybody can stay sober in the treatment center; it takes a lot of help to stay sober in the real world.

People suffering from alcohol addiction face a greater challenge when leaving an alcohol rehab center because they face more triggers. Unlike drug abusers that have to revert back to illegal activities in the event of relapse, alcoholics can just enter a bar or stop at a liquor store and purchase their drug of choice legally. Relapse prevention is probably one of the most important parts of the alcoholic s battle plan after leaving the treatment center. One of the most effective approaches for relapse prevention is the cognitive rehab approach which is explained in this site. We also have more information about other types of Addiction Treatment Centers. If you feel you or someone you know suffers from alcoholism and needs an alcohol addiction treatment center call, we can help.
