Video of therapy dog caring for hospice patient goes viral

A video of a 4-year-old golden retriever therapy dog caring for a hospice patient in Oregon has gone viral, King 5 News reported.

JJ, who has been a certified therapy dog since she was 1 year old, is the primary therapy dog at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany, Oregon.

In the video, she is shown with her head on a hospital bed as a patient’s hand touches her face. An unseen man is heard reading the poem, “What then?” by W.B. Yeats, according to JJ’s Facebook page. People have shared the video over 200,000 times.

“This is a lady who has very few people to visit her. She cannot see and often does not wake up, but she did like having her hand on my fur,” JJ “wrote” in her Facebook post. “We fell asleep later with her hand splayed on my head, but of us snoring (but not proof of that!).”

I often do bed visits, though never without The Bossy One. This is a lady who has very few people to visit her. She cannot see and often does not wake up, but she did like having her hand on my fur. She was very calm during my visit. We were listening to Yeats, by the way. I was very insistent to have her touch me, more so than usual. We fell asleep later with her hand splayed on my head, both of us snoring (but no proof of that!) I sure can be silly at times, but I also know when to be quiet and present. Her caregivers were very appreciative when they saw this video.

Posted by JJ, Hospice Therapy Dog on Sunday, February 23, 2014

According to JJ’s Facebook page, a bed visit can vary but typically involves keeping a patient company, helping them be calm, or distracting a person to decrease agitation while medications take effect. The video was originally posted in February 2014. For the past three years, she has worked 12-hour shifts with her “boss lady,” registered nurse Tracy Calhoun.

What we do is absolutely touching, but the depth of the response to the video is amazing, as well as heart-warming, Calhoun told King 5 News.

JJ is a certified therapy dog through Project Canine and works with Hope Animal-Assisted Crisis Response, providing comfort and encouragement to those affected by crises and disaster.

“Wow! We’re a bit overwhelmed at the response of our reposted video, but happy to be able to share,” JJ “wrote” on her Facebook wall. “Apologies to those who got teary watching the video, it comes with the territory here sometimes.”

  • Best VoIP Recording Software for IP Call Recording, VPI CAPTURE™, voip video

    voip video call

    Voip video call

Across the globe, corporations and organizations are recognizing the reality of Voice Over IP as the next generation of telephony technology. Recent surveys have asserted that organizations of every size and nature are either investigating or implementing Voice Over IP technology. As more organizations deploy VoIP, Voice Over IP recording is becoming more prevalent. VoIP recording shipments are projected to grow 39 percent from 2003 to 2008, according to research from Tern Systems. Additionally, Forrester Research projects that recording VoIP telephony lines will outpace PBX telephone systems by 2006.

VPI – Making VoIP Recording a Reality

VPI s IP Recording solutions are compatible and integrate with industry leading VoIP Telephony platforms, including Avaya, Cisco Systems, Mitel, Nortel and others. Through collaboration with major Voice Over IP telephony solution developers, VPI ensures that its clients are able to effectively leverage VoIP recording solutions to capture, evaluate, analyze and improve multimedia interactions over converging networks, supporting transition from legacy PBX systems to the new ROI boosting Voice Over IP telephony-based solutions.

Advantages of VPI s Next Generation VoIP Recording Software

Awkward, first generation methods for recording VoIP are now being replaced by elegant, software-based second generation solutions. These advanced solutions are based upon unique, patent-pending next generation network interface (NIC) board technology designed specifically for voice recording. Leveraging partnerships with several major VoIP telephony developers, extensive research and development, and an open architecture philosophy, VPI’s VPI CAPTURE – the most advanced VoIP recording solution available today – is platform independent, integrating seamlessly into your existing and evolving infrastructure.

    1. Easily Migrate from Traditional to VoIP Telephony Recording

With VPI CAPTURE ‘s extreme flexibility, you can count on seamless integration and simple migration to emerging VoIP technologies. Grow and adapt on your own terms by easily and reliably recording audio from most traditional circuit-switched and new VoIP PBXs/ACDs in the same system – preserving your investment. Unlike other offerings that require a complete system change-out to migrate from recording in a traditional telephony environment to recording in a VoIP environment (i.e. different software, different hardware etc.), with VPI CAPTURE , simply change the voice interface boards in the server. VPI CAPTURE leverages open architecture and is platform independent to integrate seamlessly into your existing and evolving infrastructure. It can sit securely behind your firewall and work in harmony with your network operations.

    2. Minimize Impact on Precious Network Resources

VPI CAPTURE can record all VoIP traffic, including SPAN and RSPAN, with very little impact on your network resources. VPI CAPTURE has the flexibility to separate upstream and downstream packets and the ability to span only outbound RTP audio packets when desired – utilizing 50% less network SPAN traffic than what is required by many other VoIP call recording offerings! With VPI CAPTURE , you don’t have to forklift your network control data or upgrade your network to reliably record VoIP interactions.

    3. Capture All Audio in Standard GSM File Format

VPI CAPTURE ‘s unique interface has the ability to perform transcoding on the fly, normalizing and compressing all audio (over 20 CODECS supported including G.711, G.723.1, G.729A, etc.) into industry standard, non-proprietary GSM file format regardless of disparate audio sources. This allows for simple, centralized storage and playback using any standard media player (does not require CODECS to be installed on the PC prior to playback).

    4. Self Maintaining – No Servers Required for Host Processing

Based on state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technology, VPI CAPTURE is self-maintaining and provides for all network interface, packet filtering, media processing and recording functions – it does not require you to constantly adjust network compression rates, rely on customer-provided routers and additional hardware, or increase the capacity of your current PBX to reliably capture calls. VPI CAPTURE ensures true real-time response and quality of service on every channel recorded by greatly reducing the server processing resources (CPU) required by most host-based offerings that often suffer from performance problems related to running the application and network interface functions all on same regular media processing server. Not only does VPI CAPTURE ‘s next generation network interface board off-load host processing, it also has the ability to identify and register endpoint with the station manager to enable you to capture rolling IP addresses in real-time as they change – even if your CTI server fails.

    5. Combining Proven, Award Winning Software with Advanced VoIP Recording

Unlike some other vendors that recently created from scratch very basic interfaces for their new VoIP call recording offerings, with VPI’s VPI CAPTURE you will experience the many robust features and benefits of VPI’s time-tested, award-winning call recording software. For example, you will be able to retrieve and playback your recorded interactions from anywhere in the world and from your existing applications! You can access your call recordings and associated data from VPI’s local client, Web browser-based client, or directly from your existing applications through outward integrations, courtesy of VPI’s APIs and XML tools. VPI provides advanced data management driven by your business rules – the powerful SQL database enables centralized management of millions of records, providing instant access to recorded interactions. With VPI CAPTURE , you determine how, where, and when to record, store, retrieve, and dispose of your call records based on the events that occur before, upon, or during a call interaction. VPI CAPTURE is scalable to tens of thousands of channels and can be configured for centralized or distributed storage.

    6. True Video Screen Recording Now a Reality in a VoIP Environment

VPI s VPI CAPTURE is the first solution to make true video quality screen recording in a VoIP environment a reality without compromising the quality of video recording or impacting network performance. Unlike other technologies that constantly stream data over the network, file transfer of screen recordings originally captured at local PC workstations can be either continuous upon conclusion of every recording session or done via scheduled bursts after hours, when the network is less busy, to control network traffic.

    7. Advanced Security

Since VPI CAPTURE has the ability to process only your organizations voice packets up front, you do not have to worry about any confidential IP data packets being transferred to the call recording application.

    8. No Desktop Deployment Required for IP Voice Recording

VPI s VPI CAPTURE does not require desktop deployment for IP voice recording. As is the case with many other offerings, with VPI CAPTURE , each agent does not need to login to a separate VoIP call recording application to initiate recording.

Indian LTE Giant Reliance Licenses SPIRIT Mobile Video Engine

SPIRIT DSP. the world s #1 voice and video over IP engines provider serving more than 1 billion users in 100+ countries, has announced today that Indian telecom operator Infotel, a subsidiary of Reliance Group, one of India’s top three private sector business houses with annual turnover of more than $60 billion, has licensed TeamSpirit TM Voice Video Engine Mobile.

Reliance intends to invest $10 billion in its LTE network and has turned to SPIRIT s software products for voice and video calls over LTE instead of waiting for phone makers who are slow in offering handsets transmitting voice and video in 4G networks. The lack of mobile devices supporting VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) drives a growing number of carriers to implement a software-only product, which is more flexible, scalable and offers a quicker time to market. SPIRIT engines plays a key role in providing HD voice and video quality as a part of IMS/RCS service infrastructure on popular Android and iOS smartphones and tablet PCs, as well as PCs with Mac OS or Windows.

By using SPIRIT engines, Reliance will be able to offer its subscribers high-quality services as an alternative to Skype over cellular networks and attract new high-value subscribers that used services from other operators and commercial OTT service providers.

While the number of LTE networks is growing, the quantity of mobile devices models supporting VoLTE is extremely small. LTE phones and tablets mainly support only data transmission over an LTE modem, while voice and video are going via 2G/3G network. It’s an akward situation for mobile operators who had hoped that phone OEMs would flood the market with 4G LTE-ready phones, said SPIRIT’s VP Alex Kravchenko. Carriers in dozens of countries now plan to or already deploy VVoIP services under their own brands in an effort to stop subscribers from switching to OTT providers, such as Skype, Viber and WhatsApp. The TeamSpirit software engines enable the transmission of voice and video packets via LTE modems and help operators use mobile devices available in today s market. Reliance’s decision to follow the growing trend is a good example of carriers flexibility to create their own competitive services faster. It’s The Fastest who wins in today highly competitive technology world, not The Biggest one.

About TeamSpirit Voice and Video Engine

TeamSpirit Voice Video Engines support both RCS-e and VoLTE. The engines include resource-efficient HD voice and video codecs, echo and noise cancelling (AEC), automatic voice and video rate selection (ARS), packets delays mitigation, speech enhancement, network adaptation, voice and video synchronization, a dozen of standard digital telephony functions and more, in addition to a dozen of ITU-T standard G.7xx and H.26x codecs included in the engine. SPIRIT also offers its own industry leading patented IP-MR™ (IETF 6262) adaptive and error-resilient HD voice codec that has been selected by Tier1 telecom operators to deliver HD voice to dozens of millions of their subscribers. TeamSpirit uses H.264SVC and VP8 video codecs. TeamSpirit Voice Video Conferencing Engine is an additional server-side module bringing all the power of TeamSpirit s robust high-quality calling to centralized multi-point communication scenarios.

TeamSpirit Conferencing powers SPIRIT s VideoMost TM software for massively multipoint videoconferencing. SPIRIT video engines are available on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and allow users of smartphones, tablets and notebooks across different OSs to make video calls from iPhone to Android smartphones to PC, as well as participate in HD videoconferencing with automatic quality adaptation to specific network conditions, screen size and processing power.

SPIRIT DSP is the world s #1 voice and video over IP (VoIP) engines provider. SPIRIT s innovative carrier-grade voice and video software platform is used by carriers, OEMs and software developers, web services and social networks, serving even more VoIP users than Skype – SPIRIT DSP software platforms serves more than 1 billion users in 100 countries. SPIRIT DSP software powers popular products from global technology leaders including Apple, Adobe, ARM, AT T, Avaya, Blizzard, BT, China Mobile, Dialogic, Ericsson, HP, HTC, Huawei, KT, Kyocera, LG U+, Microsoft, NEC, Oracle, Polycom, Samsung, Skype, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, Viber, ZTE, among more than 250 other hardware and software manufacturers. SPIRIT s direct OEM customers jointly exceed 60 percent of the global smartphone market share. SPIRIT DSP mainstream product today is multi-point web videoconferencing software, VideoMost targeted at enterprise customers in partnership with telcos as SAAS service. SPIRIT offers its multipoint videoconferencing software products to carriers and system integrators around the world who are deploying high-demand cloud videoconferencing and mobile video calling services under their own brands. Videoconferencing services based on SPIRIT software help operators to reduce churn, gain extra revenue and effectively compete against alterative VoIP offerings.

    3 Astigmatism Types and How to Correct Them #types #of #lasik, #astigmatism

Astigmatism is probably the most misunderstood vision problem. For starters, it’s called “astigmatism,” not “stigmatism.” (You don’t have “a stigmatism” you have astigmatism.)

Like nearsightedness and farsightedness. astigmatism is a refractive error, meaning it is not an eye disease or eye health problem; it’s simply a problem with how the eye focuses light.

In an eye with astigmatism, light fails to come to a single focus on the retina to produce clear vision. Instead, multiple focus points occur, either in front of the retina or behind it (or both).

    Astigmatism Symptoms

Astigmatism usually causes vision to be blurred or distorted to some degree at all distances.

Symptoms of uncorrected astigmatism are eye strain and headaches, especially after reading or other prolonged visual tasks.

Squinting also is a very common symptom.

    What Causes Astigmatism?

Astigmatism usually is caused by an irregularly shaped cornea. Instead of the cornea having a symmetrically round shape (like a baseball), it is shaped more like a football, with one meridian being significantly more curved than the meridian perpendicular to it.

(To understand what meridians are, think of the front of the eye like the face of a clock. A line connecting the 12 and 6 is one meridian; a line connecting the 3 and 9 is another.)

The steepest and flattest meridians of an eye with astigmatism are called the principal meridians.

In some cases, astigmatism is caused by the shape of the lens inside the eye. This is called lenticular astigmatism, to differentiate it from the more common corneal astigmatism.

    Types of Astigmatism

There are three primary types of astigmatism:

    • Myopic astigmatism. One or both principal meridians of the eye are nearsighted. (If both meridians are nearsighted, they are myopic in differing degree.)
    • Hyperopic astigmatism. One or both principal meridians are farsighted. (If both are farsighted, they are hyperopic in differing degree.)
    • Mixed astigmatism. One prinicipal meridian is nearsighted, and the other is farsighted.

Astigmatism also is classified as regular or irregular. In regular astigmatism, the principal meridians are 90 degrees apart (perpendicular to each other). In irregular astigmatism, the principal meridians are not perpendicular. Most astigmatism is regular corneal astigmatism, which gives the front surface of the eye a football shape.

Irregular astigmatism can result from an eye injury that has caused scarring on the cornea, from certain types of eye surgery or from keratoconus. a disease that causes a gradual thinning of the cornea.

    How Common Is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism often occurs early in life, so it is important to schedule an eye exam for your child to avoid vision problems in school from uncorrected astigmatism.

In a recent study of 2,523 American children ages 5 to 17 years, more than 28 percent had astigmatism of 1.0 diopter (D) or greater.

Also, there were significant differences in astigmatism prevalence based on ethnicity. Asian and Hispanic children had the highest prevalences (33.6 and 36.9 percent, respectively), followed by whites (26.4 percent) and African-Americans (20.0 percent).

In another study of more than 11,000 eyeglass wearers in the UK (both children and adults), 47.4 percent had astigmatism of 0.75 D or greater in at least one eye, and 24.1 percent had this amount of astigmatism in both eyes. The prevalence of myopic astigmatism (31.7 percent) was approximately double that of hyperopic astigmatism (15.7 percent).

    Astigmatism Test

Astigmatism is detected during a routine eye exam with the same instruments and techniques used for the detection of nearsightedness and farsightedness.

Your eye doctor can estimate the amount of astigmatism you have by shining a light into your eye while manually introducing a series of lenses between the light and your eye. This test is called retinoscopy.

Symptoms of astigmatism include eye strain and headaches, especially after reading.

Though many eye doctors continue to perform retinoscopy, this manual procedure has been replaced or supplemented in many eye care practices with automated instruments that provide a faster preliminary test for astigmatism and other refractive errors.

Whether your eye exam includes retinoscopy, an automated refraction, or both, your optometrist or ophthalmologist will perform another test called a manual refraction to refine the results of these preliminary astigmatism tests.

In a manual refraction (also called a manifest refraction or subjective refraction), your eye doctor places an instrument called a phoropter in front of your eyes. The phoropter contains many lenses that can be introduced in front of your eyes one at a time so you can compare them.

As you look through the phoropter at an eye chart at the end of the exam room, your eye doctor will show you different lenses and ask you questions along the lines of, “Which of these two lenses makes the letters on the chart look clearer, lens A or lens B?” Your answers to these questions help determine your eyeglasses prescription .

    Astigmatism Correction Options

Astigmatism, like nearsightedness and farsightedness, usually can be corrected with eyeglasses. contact lenses or refractive surgery .

The axis of astigmatism in eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions describes the location of the flatter principal meridian of the eye using the above 180-degree rotary scale. [Enlarge]

In addition to the spherical lens power used to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness, astigmatism requires an additional “cylinder” lens power to correct the difference between the powers of the two principal meridians of the eye.

So an eyeglasses prescription for the correction of myopic astigmatism, for example, could look like this: -2.50 -1.00 x 90.

    • The first number (-2.50) is the sphere power (in diopters) for the correction of myopia in the flatter (less nearsighted) principal meridian of the eye.
    • The second number (-1.00) is the cylinder power for the additional myopia correction required for the more curved principal meridian. In this case, the total correction required for this meridian is -3.50 D (-2.50 + -1.00 = -3.50 D).
    • The third number (90) is called the axis of astigmatism. This is the location (in degrees) of the flatter principal meridian, on a 180-degree rotary scale where 90 degrees designates the vertical meridian of the eye, and 180 degrees designates the horizontal meridian.

If you wear soft toric contact lenses for astigmatism correction, your contact lens prescription will likewise include a sphere power, cylinder power and axis designation.

Gas permeable contact lenses are also an option. Because these lenses are rigid and optically replace the cornea as the refracting surface of the eye, a cylinder power and axis may or may not be needed, depending on the type and severity of astigmatism correction required. The same is true for hybrid contact lenses .

Refractive surgery such as LASIK also can correct most types of astigmatism. Discuss with your eye doctor which procedure is best for you.

    Installing A Home Security CCTV

Choosing a good CCTV for monitoring your house is an excellent idea, as it will help
you increase the security in and around your house.
Once you have bought a good CCTV that will be able to record the activity in your house,
the first step that you need to take is to install the CCTV. Before that, you need to decide
where to put up the CCTV. This is rather important as you should position the camera at a crucial position,
which will allow you to observe who is entering and leaving the house.
So the position will be of utmost importance. After you have decided upon a good position,
there is the tiny matter of installing the camera. Now you can either do this by yourself or
you can entrust the job to a professional. If you want to do it all by yourself,
then be sure to follow the instructions specified with the CCTV.
Each model is different than the other, so be sure to read the instructions first.
If you do not want to go through all of this hassle, you can simply call upon a professional to get the
CCTV installed, and it will be done in a flash

    The indoor home alarm systems

Burglar alarms come in various types. All of these types differ in their functionality and applications.
Broadly, the main two types can be classified as indoors and outdoors.
Let us go through some of the most common types of alarms which are used in the former surroundings.
    • Passive infrared detectors
There is a reason why these are the most popular type of alarms. It is because that not only are they affordable,
they are extremely reliable. Their basic detection technique is that they can sense objects which emit infrared
waves i.e. heat. A change of temperature between adjacent surroundings is what they basically look for.
    • Ultrasonic detectors
Unlike the passive infrared detectors, these emit their own energy. Such devices transmit ultrasonic
waves of frequencies under 75 kHz which are not audible to humans. They can detect any kind of motion due to the
change in the frequency of the waves.
    • Microwave detectors
Their working principle is rather elementary. They use a transmitter to emit microwaves and then use a receiver
to detect whether any of them get reflected back. Both the transmitter and receiver are placed in a single housing.
These are just few of the many other kinds of indoor devices available. Contact us for proper installation
    at the most affordable prices.

Why people install security systems home and office

There are several reasons why a homeowner may install a security system but the most common reason is to
protect their home from burglars. If you actually take a minute to stop and look around your home to see all of the items
that you own, you will quickly realize that there are a lot valuable items in your home.
Installing a security system is the only way to make sure that these items are actually secure when you are not at home.
Another reason why people install security systems in their home is to give themselves the peace
of mind knowing that all of their prized possessions are safe and sound when they are not at home.
Worry about the safety of your possessions while on vacation is a great way to ruin an otherwise fantastic vacation.
Having to stress about the belongings in your home can really dampen the mood of a vacation,
which is why so many people elect to install a security system in their home.
This way they know that everything they own is secure while they enjoy their time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Film School: How to Create Your Own Self-Promo Videos – HOW Design

Film School: How to Create Your Own Self-Promo Videos

Prefer a marketing tool that’s a little more traditional than making videos? Ilise Benun and Peleg Top of Marketing Mentor bring you a web design tutorial on how to make your marketing website work for you.

When it comes to showcasing your talent, seeing is often believing – and stills don’t always do the trick. Bring a little movie magic to your self-promotion strategy with these tips. This article is in the September 2014 issue of HOW magazine. the Self-Promotion Marketing issue.

    Illustration by Elly Walton;

Video is all the rage right now, and rightfully so: More and more designers are using it as an effective self-promotional tool to advance their careers, whether they’re freelancing, looking for a job or running their own design firms.

It’s one of the many mediums that falls under the “content marketing” trend, and it’s being used strategically in a wide variety of ways. Designers are creating videos to achieve all of the following:

Bring their portfolios to life. If a screenshot or photo of your work doesn’t do it justice, video may be more effective at demonstrating your capabilities (especially when it comes to interactive work). For example, without video, the “cool factor” would have been missing in Boston-based Cleveland Design’s portfolio piece documenting a trade-show game for Thomson Reuters that utilizes motion detection. The video made this new and complex technology clearer, plus showcased how fun and tactile it is. Though the video still gets weekly traffic almost a year later, the real prize came when a different department at Thomson Reuters saw it in action and hired the firm to create a game for another event.

Demonstrate a process. Instead of a static self-promo case study, New York City–based firm MSLK uses a three-minute video with very high production values to showcase its in-house “360° Branding” process, while simultaneously exhibiting its work for big-name clients such as Ralph Lauren and L’Oréal. The video positions MSLK as a strategic partner by detailing their processes in a voiceover. In one section, MSLK even breaks down what didn’t work about their client’s previous logo, what they improved and why, as well as the awards the work won.

Educate prospects and clients. The essence of content marketing is the development of educational material that conveys your expertise and positions you as a leader to your target market—which in turn markets you as a brand. It’s thought to be a much more effective self-promo strategy for creatives than, say, making a straightforward commercial for your business. Self-promotion via content marketing was exactly the goal for solopreneur Amy Caracappa-Qubeck, who in 2014 produced her own 25-part talking-head–style video series, “You Know Your Website Is
Dominating When …” (aka YKYWIDW). Caracappa-Qubeck’s work brings to life the true promo power of content marketing through video—which we’ll take a closer look at below.

The substance of her series, how to use the web to market a business, is rooted in her positioning statement— “Helping introverts dominate online (one website at a time)”—and includes humorously titled topics such as YKYWIDW #8: “It Doesn’t Choose Its Color Scheme Like George Costanza Chooses His Outfits.”

Her target market is small- and medium-sized B2B business owners who tend to be introverted but care about their online presence, need marketing help and need a push. These are people who would (and do) say to her, “I have a website that works, but I want one that generates leads—a site that takes my brand to the next level and does the selling for me when I can’t.”

With that market in mind, Caracappa-Qubeck produced 20 main episodes plus five bonus episodes of three to six minutes in length. Each video can also stand alone—all the better for repurposing as self-promotion tools and email capture incentives later on.

Sounds like a tall order, right? Not so much.

Caracappa-Qubeck says it was relatively easy. She did it as part of a 30-day “vlogging” (video + blogging) challenge with members of her creativity group. The “challenge” was to produce 30 days of videos with the goal of getting used to the format and pulling together material on a theme.

Here are some of the key ways she created her self-promo content marketing videos, from topics and technology to production and distribution—and how you can, too.

    1. Determine topics relevant to your target market. Brainstorming on her theme, Caracappa-Qubeck came up with a long list of topics, then used old-fashioned index cards to order them, which made mixing and matching easy. Topics included everything from SEO, branding and form versus function to social media, goal setting and metrics. Channel your expertise, because that’s exactly what will promote you as a brand.

    2. Use the technology at hand. One of the best parts about creating your own content marketing videos: You probably already have all the tools to do it. If approached correctly, there’s no need for costly professional equipment or services. Caracappa-Qubeck used her iPhone 5 with the video setting on the native camera app, front-facing and in a horizontal position. That’s because TVs, computer monitors, iPad and iPhone all display video best horizontally, and YouTube always uses the 16:9 aspect ratio. All Caracappa-Qubeck had to buy was a tripod and an adapter to hold the phone steady while she talked in front of the camera.

    3. Choose a convenient location. Caracappa-Qubeck selected a spot in her home office with ambient sunlight (a little tricky to regulate, but not only does it avoid costly light rigs, it also makes you look good). The background was simple and she changed outfits and other elements to add personality and interest for viewers.

    4. Batch the production. This was the easiest part for Caracappa-Qubeck. She recorded multiple videos at once, doing up to five or six in a day, once a week, over the course of a month. It allowed her to pull off the series while not falling behind on everything else in her career.

    5. Be yourself. In the videos, Caracappa-Qubeck’s manner is relaxed and friendly. She speaks slowly and articulates clearly, without reading but sometimes referring to her notes on an index card taped to the tripod. “I wanted it to be free-flowing and conversational,” she says. Remember: You’re conveying your expertise, but moreover, promoting yourself as a brand, so show clients who you really are.

    6. Allow plenty of time for post-production. This is where the time investment can get out of control. Caracappa-Qubeck had to upload the videos to iMovie, do minimal editing and cropping, add titles, and then pop each one onto her YouTube channel—a great way to give them much wider exposure than is possible through one’s own site.

Depending on how you do it, producing video may require more effort than most traditional marketing tools, like sending an email newsletter or mailing a printed brochure. But as Caracappa-Qubeck notes, “It’s a way for people to get to know me before we even talk. That’s important because market research shows that people buy because they have a personal connection.”

In other words, it’s worth the time because it’s an incredibly effective way to achieve two of the essential marketing goals: to showcase what you know, and to connect on a human level with prospects .

This article is from the September 2014 issue of HOW magazine. our Self-Promotion Marketing issue. This issue is all about self-promotion, from learning how to court clients to the winners of the Promotion and Marketing Design Awards winners. Also in this issue, get the 5 reasons designers should love selling their ideas.

    Termite Inspection Video

This termite inspection video is designed to educate you the consumer how a termite inspection (building inspection, pest inspection) is carried out. It is a very short download approximately 60 sec. After watching this termite inspection video please don’t hesitate to ring me on 1300 24 33 77 1300 CHEERS..

P.S Free Pest Inspection With Every Termite Inspection In August.

The follow on video to this is termite inspection report (pest report, pest inspection report or building inspection report).

What Is A Termite Inspection? (Pest Inspection)

    Termite Inspection Video Transcript

A Termite inspection report is a thorough inspection of the sub-floor, roof void, interior and exterior of the house. Takes anywhere from maybe 45 minutes to an hour to carry out. So what we do is we look to see whether the termites are coming up, we especially take notice of these ant caps. Ant caps are designed to enable us to see the termites easier. Because at the ant caps, termites will come up the wall, come along the ant cap, and they go over the ant cap. This is what they call a little bit of termite nesting in the floor. You can see that termite lead going up the wall there. Starts at the ground, climbs its way up, into the floor and starts eating the floor. When I’m shining around the torch I’m not just shining around aimlessly, I’m looking for subtle discrepancies in the timber like as you can see here how it’s been raised. That’s a typical sign that there could be some termites in that piece of timber. See how it has left the paint behind. Just go like this, there is no structural integrity behind this timber at all.

The reason being why the lady rang me up in the very first place: her little toddler had put his hand through the wall here. He just leant up against it and created a hole, and OK, she said how did you do that, but what happened one week down the track, she started seeing all this dirt here, this termite mud. So lets have a little look inside here, it’s very important when your doing a termite inspection to ascertain what sort of variety of termite there is, so we will just open it up here and have a look.

A termite inspection report does not treat termites. A termite inspection report is designed to detect termites at an early stage so it doesn’t cause as much damage to your property. Strongly recommend that a termite inspection report be carried out at least once every 12 months and don’t forget, there is no household insurance for termite damage and there is millions of dollars spent every year in Australia because of termites.

Bit of timber which has turned to paper. Here’s the timber in the wall, it’s confetti. Termites have completely eaten it out. [Sigh], it’s just all eaten out, see they channel into the timber.

Let’s have a look at the roof and see what’s going on up there. If they get up in the roof, well [sigh] it’s major dollars to try and fix up any sort of roof work, especially if they eat out major structural beams, I mean you gotta take the tiles off, then you gotta do this, then you gotta tarp it up, then you gotta put the tiles back and replace all the damage, its just a nightmare, it’s something you just don’t want to happen.

Here’s what we do, we get our donger and check out the structural integrity of the timber. This is my favourite job, this one. So if you haven’t had a termite inspection done within the last 12 months, just give us a ring on the termite control hotline number 1300 24 33 77 or likewise 1300 CHEERS and we’ll endeavour to assist you in the best possible way.

    Network Video Servers #network #video #servers, #ip #video #servers, #ip #servers, #network

A network video server, also known as an IP video server, is a very handy piece of hardware for any surveillance system installer to be familiar with. Below we will describe a few different types of surveillance applications that these servers can be used in.

    Network Video Server Application #1

Surveillance Application Example #1 Requirements: In this example, the customer wants to view a single camera over the Internet using Internet Explorer. The customer wants a good quality outdoor / weatherproof camera with infrared / night vision capability. The customer is more interested in the live viewing. Recording the video is not a priority and if it is done, just basic recording features are needed.

Surveillance Application Example #1 Solution: CCTV Camera Pros would first recommend the appropriate outdoor IR security camera. The camera would connect to the network video server using coax cable and BNC connectors. The network video server would connect to the customer’s network router which would in turn be connected to a high speed modem or some kind of existing high speed network. This would make the IR security camera accessible for live viewing over the local network and could also be viewed remotely over the Internet if the appropriate port forwarding and firewall rules were configured.

    Network Video Server Application #2

Surveillance Application Example #2 Requirements: In this example, the customer has a facility with two separate buildings. The customer would like to have security cameras installed in both buildings and have a single recorder record the cameras in both buildings. The customer would also like to view all cameras from both buildings remotely over the Internet. The customer has high speed Internet access at both buildings and both buildings share the same local area network.

Surveillance Application Example #2 Solution: CCTV Camera Pros would recommend using a hybrid digital video recorder capable of supporting both CCTV cameras as well as IP cameras and IP video servers. Either the Geovision or NUUO hybrid DVR/NVR systems would work well. If the system would expand past 16 cameras, then the NUUO NVR system would be recommended, as it can support up to 64 security cameras.

The building with the most cameras would be the chosen location of the DVR. The cameras in the building with the DVR would be hard wired to the DVR using RG59 coax cable or BNC plug and play cables. Each camera in the remote building (where the DVR is not located) would be connected to a video server. Each video server would be connected to the network switch located in the remote building. Each video server would be assigned a unique local IP address. The DVR located in the other building would be able to access each of the remote cameras using the IP addresses of it’s corresponding video server. All cameras would now be managed and recorded by the central DVR / NVR, and because the DVR has a build in web server, all cameras can be accessed remotely over the Internet or over the local area network on one central screen / system using the Internet Explorer web browser.

    Shopping Addiction Help – Treatment from Rehab Recovery #shopping #addiction, #addiction #help,

    Shopping Addiction Help Treatment

Shopping addiction, also called compulsive shopping and omniomania, is one of the most socially “acceptable” behavioural addictions in the world. Shopping is a normal part of life but it becomes a problem when people start feeling compelled to buy things they don’t need or even want, and find themselves getting a thrill or “rush” from the experience of shopping, both online and in stores.

Some “shopaholics” may make an effort to stop but find themselves unable to stop spending money, which often leads to many financial difficulties. This in turn causes shame, guilt and anger, which makes the problem worse as shopping becomes a coping mechanism, and often causes relationships to break down.

    Symptoms of Shopping Addiction

Do you know someone who is worrying you by exhibiting possible signs of having a shopping addiction? Try asking yourself the following questions.

    • Do they hide evidence of purchases like receipts, bags or even the items themselves, perhaps even throwing newly bought things away?
    • Are they preoccupied with shopping and tend to do it a lot at the expense of relationships and other commitments?
    • Do they stay out a lot of the time in shopping centres or spend a lot of time on their computer using online shopping sites?
    • Do they seem to be having problems with money but dismiss these or get angry if questioned about it?

Do you know someone who is suffering from a shopping addiction? Call us now for free help and advice on how simple and easy it can be to get free of a shopping addiction and live a happier, healthier life.

Tango – Free Video Call – Chat for Android – Free download

Tango – Free Video Call & Chat for Android

Using 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi, Tango Voice & Video Calls lets you chat, call, and video-call anyone in the world for free so long as they have the app installed on their device, as well as share with them photos and play games. This new version comes with a revamped interface that looks and feels great, but technically isn’t perfect.

Offers a complete social experience: In addition to its communication features, Tango Voice & Video Calls features photo-sharing, a discovery mode for finding people near you or around the world, and a newsfeed with customizable channels for receiving updates from a dozen popular publications and websites, as well as a gaming platform through which you can play BlackJack, Spartan Wars, or other engaging titles with your friends. Most other communication apps on Google Play don’t have this wide range of social features.

Beautiful redesign: The interface looks so sleek and moves so smoothly that after the redesign it has become probably the app’s best feature. The chat window with its rounded avatars is a joy to view, as is the streamlined newsfeed with accessible but unobtrusive sharing and commenting buttons.

Great for socializing: Because it has millions of active users all over the world and makes interaction easy through features like winking for attracting a person’s attention or Shake to Connect for randomly meeting people, this app provides a social life on all those rainy days when you’re stuck at home.

Connectivity issues: We haven’t experienced any problems with chatting, but the voice call and video call features, while stable on the whole, don’t work smoothly all the time. We got a few errors and even two or three disconnects while using them.

Too many notifications: The app constantly sends you social notifications without giving you the option to turn them off.

    Bottom Line

Tango Voice & Video Calls looks great and makes long-distance communication more convenient, possibly cutting down your calling costs. The app’s social features, though appealing, won’t bowl you over if you’re already using Facebook or Google+, but they remain fun, nevertheless. In the end, this app has all it takes to wrestle with giants like Skype or Viber for the title of most engaging Android communication app.

    Types of Service – Honeywell Intrusion and Communications #burglar #alarm, #burglary, #home

    Types of Service

The AlarmNet network’s reliability is assured with a state of the art network control center that houses dedicated communication services and hardware platforms. Hardware servers and communication paths are completely redundant, with hot back-up databases housed in two separate locations. If one system were to have a catastrophic event, the other system can take over without any service interruption. Both locations are equipped with battery and generator backup along with technical support 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week for uninterrupted service. This level of sophistication allows us to handle alarm communication for UL listed and critical high-line security installations.

    Network Architecture

In the AlarmNet architecture, although each of the networks are independent of one another, subscriber radios and Internet transmitters may send messages from one network and be received at nearly any central station location in North America over another technology. The AlarmNet Network Control Center (NCC) accomplishes this integration. This design offers the following important benefits:

    1. Integration of Multiple Networks

One of the fundamental principles behind AlarmNet is the integration of different network types. In the AlarmNet architecture, member central stations are equipped with AlarmNet wireless or Internet receiving equipment or both. This equipment communicates directly with the AlarmNet network. Depending on its needs at installation at the protected premise, an installer may choose to use any of the available types of subscriber radios or Internet transmitters, whichever works best for that installation. Although each of the different products may report through a different network, the central station does not need to incur the costs of time, money, or labor to operate, maintain, and integrate all of these networks.

When a central station signs up with AlarmNet, it establishes a network connection scheme between the central station and AlarmNet and as a result gains access to any of its customers at the protected premise through that scheme and the interaction of AlarmNet.

    2. Learn One, Know Them All

All of the different subscriber devices used for the different network services have a similar look and feel. The same programming tool is used for most of the devices. All signals are delivered to the central station in a uniform, familiar reporting format. This assures that the central station can receive signals from any type of AlarmNet subscriber; past, present, or future. Once equipped to receive alarm messages from the AlarmNet network, the central station can provide network services to any subscriber without additional expense.

    3. Supervision and Speed of Delivery

AlarmNet radios and transmitters are supervised on a regular basis. The supervision is performed automatically, and is transparent to the central station. The AlarmNet network communicates with all AlarmNet devices on a regular basis, assuring that they are operational. The AlarmNet network reports to the central station only when there is a problem. The central station does not need to worry about supervision or maintenance of the network, since the network performs these functions automatically. The central station only receives the signals it needs: actual alarm or trouble messages. When the network receives an alarm, it automatically and immediately forwards the signal to the appropriate central station. The AlarmNet transmission generally will reach the central station before the traditional dialer-based signal, in cases where an AlarmNet device and the digital dialer both send signals.

    4. Secure, Redundant, Wireless Protection

Not all competitive wireless subscriber services offered in the market are wireless at both ends. For example, due to the design of the cellular network, competing cellular services deliver signals to the central station over the regular switched telephone network. In these cases, the communications integrity of the central station (and all premises protected by that central station) is vulnerable to the same weaknesses as any landline-dependent customer (line cut, service outages, and natural disasters). Limited services such as these protect only a portion of the communications chain. Standard AlarmNet wireless delivery, however, assures an end-to-end wireless system that provides redundancy, supervision, and verification of message delivery. It only makes sense that the central station should use wireless communications to maintain the same level of security and performance in its communications infrastructure as it does at the protected premises.

In order to maintain a redundant, invulnerable link to subscribers using wireline-terminated networks, a service provider must maintain at least two physically distinct and independent connections to every network type. AlarmNet maintains such connections at every level, saving the central station the expense and complexity of maintaining such an elaborate communications infrastructure. AlarmNet’s connection to the central station also has two layers of redundancy: every central station is equipped with a primary and backup transceiver.

    Video Game Designer

If you love gaming, and have a desire to learn the latest programming, art and media production skills, then video game designer is the career path for you. Depending on your interests and employment goals, the video game design job market offers a wealth of opportunities. According to the U.S. Dept. of Labor, video game designer employment will skyrocket 19% this decade, placing it among the fastest growing careers in America.

Most video game designer jobs fall into one of three disciplines: Game Artist. Game Designer or Game Programmer. The game design career track you choose will determine your daily activities and responsibilities, as well as the skills and education requirements to get hired. Learn about video game designer skills by discipline below.

All video game designers spend a lot of time in the classroom – or virtual classroom for online students – learning new skills to keep up with the gaming industry’s rapidly evolving technologies, trends and emerging platforms. However, with hard work and intense training comes great rewards — most video game designers with 6+ years of experience earn over $100,000 per year, according to Game Developer Magazine’s 2012 Salary Survey.

    Video Game Designer Skills Responsibilities

In-demand skill sets and day-to-day activities for Video Game Designers include the following. Game designers:

    • Devise the missions, challenges and puzzles that will be encountered in game play.
    • Create narrative features, such as story-lines, role-play mechanics and character bios.
    • Conduct periodic design reviews throughout the video game development timeline.
    • Collaborate with artists and sound engineers to achieve the desired audio/visual style.
    • Plan games using screenshot mockups, gameplay flowcharts and other visual devices.
    • Maintain design level documentation, including mechanics, guidelines and mission outlines.
    • Work closely with game programmers and artists to ensure that the design is being followed.

Sought-after skills and typical responsibilities for Video Game Artists include the following: Video game artists:

    • Are responsible for the aesthetics (or visual style) of video games and simulations.
    • Are skilled in traditional art concepts and techniques, such as line, form and color theory.
    • Design the artwork for all visual game aspects, such as characters, weapons and vehicles.

    • Some game artists use motion-capture software to incorporate live-action actors into the video game.
    • Collaborate with game programmers and designers to ensure finished product is consistent with original artwork.

Marketable skill sets and daily activities for Video Game Programmers include the following. Game programmers:

    • Are fluent in the popular video game development programming languages, such as Java, C and C++.
    • Develop the artificial intelligence (AI) that dictates reactions of computer-controlled elements.

    • Test develop game physics, which controls how objects interact in the video game environment.
    • Work closely with game artists and designers to accurately incorporate their visions into the game.

    Video Game Designer Education Requirements

Video game designer education requirements vary according to your game design job specialty. Game design training programs focus on three main disciplines – design, art, and programming. Your personal interests, passions and employment goals will determine which video game design training program is the best fit to get hired for the job you want. Here is a breakdown of video game designer education requirements by game design specialty:

Video Game Designer A college degree or certificate in game design or creative writing will help you get hired as a video game designer. Skills to look for in a video game designer education program include game theory, storytelling storyboarding, game planning and strategy, creative content writing, brainstorming creative thinking, and game design project management.

Video Game Programmer For game design programming jobs, the education requirement is typically a bachelor’s degree in video game development, computer science, software engineering, mobile application development, game simulation programming, or a similar programming-focused area of study. Video game programmers should be fluent in the object-oriented programming (OOP) languages commonly used in video game design, such as Java, C and C++.

Video Game Artist Education requirements for game art jobs ideally include a specialized 2- or 4-year game art degree, however a traditional art school degree is acceptable in many cases. Video game artists must first master traditional art techniques and principles, such as form, perspective color theory, before they can apply these skills to game elements like characters environments. A prospective video game artist’s most crucial asset is his or her design portfolio; the stronger and more relevant your portfolio, the less you will have to rely on your formal education to land the job. The ability to effectively use modern graphic design computer animation software, such as Adobe Flash, will also help you get hired as a video game artist.

With video game popularity at an all-time high, schools are evolving their game design education programs with topics like 3D modeling, character animation, world design, storyboarding, simulation programming and more. Research and compare the top-reviewed game design programs in the U.S. Canada and online.

What Traits do Game Design Studios Look for in a New Hire?

Game studios seek out designers who love gaming, because real players recognize what makes a video game good, bad, ugly, or incredible. Strong problem-solving skills are key for game designers, as the video game creation process is ripe with challenges and pitfalls. To succeed as a video game designer you need to be patient and willing to work long hours and overtime to solve these problems. Successful video game designers need the ability to work well as part of a team, as video games are an intensely collaborative medium.
